Mumbai (The Hawk) :Union Minister for Information &amp; Broadcasting Shri Anurag Thakur has said that Cinema, as a soft power can play a major role in nation branding initiative.&nbsp;Addressing the valedictory session of the two-day Seminar in Mumbai through video message, Shri Thakur said “Indian film industry&nbsp;and the Government&nbsp;&nbsp;today recognizethe&nbsp;potential of culture at the highest level. Depiction of one’s culture is a very strong component -of any country’s soft power”. The Minister further said that the capacities of nation to make themselves attractive in a global market place for ideas has become an important&nbsp;aspect of contemporary international relations. “Cinema can play&nbsp;a major role in doing this by aiming for nation branding initiatives” he added.The Minister observed that rapid liberalization, de regulation, privatization of media and culture industry have transformed the film industry in India over the past few decades, and at the same time the expansion of global digital media industries, and distribution technologies have ensured that Indian entertainment channels and films are increasingly visible in the global media space.Speaking about the growing popularity of Indian Cinema on the world map Shri Thakur said “today Hindi films are released simultaneously across the globe and its stars are recognized faces in international advertising and entertainment space.” he said.&nbsp;“Even the far flung African countries are fascinated by our movies and music. We know about countries like Nigeria where the Nollywood market takes a lot of inspiration from Indian Cinema; Bollywood has also expanded in unchartered countries like Latin America; our cinema is making inroads into counties like South Korea, Japan, China” he added.The Minister also stressed the role being played by Indian language cinema. “It is not just the Hindi movies, but also the films in Indian languages that are getting vast audience nationally and internationally.&nbsp;Speaking about the role of film industry in aiding public diplomacy the Minister said that globalization of our popular cinema aided by large diaspora can help in promoting India’s public diplomacy. “We need to promote a Public –Private Partnership to brand India using the power of our film fraternity and the power of India to create the content and become the content sub-continent of the world” he added.Need to institutionalize subtitling in foreign languages : Vinay SahasrabuddheAddressing the gathering, ICCR President Shri Vinay Sahasrabuddhe said, more than 95 participants from various parts of the country participated in the seminar which discussed the idea of Indian Cinema and its Soft power probably for the first time.<img src="https://static.pib.gov.in/WriteReadData/userfiles/image/WhatsAppImage2022-05-04at6.54.20PM3YVI.jpeg">To enhance the reach of Indian films across the world, Shri Sahasrabuddhe advocated for institutional arrangements for subtitling Indian films in a number of foreign languages, particularly in the languages of countries where India’s cultural influence is strong viz Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan etc. Shri Sahasrabuddhe informed that ICCR will&nbsp;organize a national seminar on Foreign Languages Training in India and Soft Power.The ICCR President also&nbsp;said that we can pitch our Language Cinema to the NRIs, who are nostalgic about their culture that they left behind.&nbsp;He said ‘A category such as ‘Soft Power Promotion Friendly Films’ could be introduced in Film Awards. ‘Those films that show a comprehensive and correct understanding about India could be awarded under the category’, he added.About the symposiumAround 95 participants from various parts of the country participated in the Seminar organized by the ICCR and FLAME University, Pune.&nbsp;The aim of the seminar was to bring together practitioners and scholars of Indian cinema and international relations to deliberate, discuss and dwell upon the pertinent discourse in contemporary times.Renowned film director Shri Shekhar Kapoor had inaugurated the seminar yesterday.&nbsp;Eminent film personalities and renowned experts like Subhash Ghai, Roopa Ganguly, Bharat Bala, Ambarish Mishra, Arunaraje Patil, Ashok Rane, Meenakshi Shedde, Manoj Muntashir, Paresh Rawal, and G P Vijay Kumar chaired various technical sessions.

New Delhi:&nbsp;Home Minister Amit Shah will be the chief guest at the Delhi University's three-day international seminar commencing from May 19.The varsity officials confirmed Shah's participation at the seminar titled 'Revisiting The Ideas of India From Swaraj to New India', organised by the Department of Politics Science.Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, too, is likely to attend the event, which will discuss the ideas developed both before and after India's Independence, along with those who propounded its ideas."In this proposed international seminar, an effort will be made to understand the journey of India through ideas that blossomed in the modern times spanning the last 150 years. Undoubtedly, during this period, Mahatma Gandhi awakened not just the Indian consciousness but that of the whole world by enthusing his set of ideas in the first half of 20th century," the concept note read."If Swami Vivekananda unveiled India and its ideas at the world stage, Mahatma Gandhi established India at the global level. The proposed seminar will provide a platform to discuss ideas such as Swadeshi, Vande Mataram, Swaraj, Nationalism and Socialism among others that took shape before Gandhi but further bloomed under the leadership of Mahatma and others. The Seminar on the theme “Defence &amp; Warfare: Emerging Paradigms” was held at ICSSR Complex, Panjab University, Sector 14, Chandigarh. The Key Speakers of the Seminar were Col. Nitn Chandra (retd.) and Maj. Gen. Amarjit Singh (retd.). Col. Nitin Chandra spoke on Space based Imagery Intelligence (IMINT) signatures of Military Targets. Maj. Gen. Amarjit spoke about the sixth generation of Warfare, the current way of conducting warfare as we see around us today.&nbsp;Dr. Jaskaran Waraich, Chairperson of Department of Defence and National Security Studies, Panjab University welcomed the delegation and introduced the theme. Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, Director of Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) delivered the opening remarks. He highlighted the relevance of the topics to be discussed and spoke about how the defence and security paradigms are changing across the world.&nbsp;Col. Chandra explained how satellite imagery is used to identify enemy military targets. He also explained how some of this imagery may be misinterpreted and discussed the best practices on how to analyse satellite imagery using open source systems .Gen. Amarjit explained how warfare, now, is not limited to Kinetic means anymore but is increasingly involving NBIC(Nano, Bio, Info, Cognitive) Sciences. Everyone, be it a soldier or an ordinary citizen, is the target of the 6th generation warfare and the war is fought by altering the way of thinking of people by using psychological tools and weaponization of brain sciences. According to him, the military power construct of the world is changing from economic to Data (Information) and Hyper Connectivity.&nbsp;The Seminar concluded with vote of thanks by Prof. Simrit Kahlon. who thanked the key speakers for their invaluable inputs and highlighted the importance of the topics discussed at the Seminar.&nbsp;

Dehradun (The Hawk): Agroforestry has the potential to achieve sustainability in agriculture while optimizing its productivity and mitigating climate change impact. It is well known that agroforestry plays a vital role in utilizing the degraded habitats for agricultural production in terms of providing timber, fodder, fuel wood, food, medicinal and aromatic plants, and carbon sequestration. In India, due to the increasing population pressure on natural resources there is an immediate need to address the issues of food security, nutrition adequacy, rural income generation, employment, environment and poverty. It is here that that there is a lot of potential of agroforestry which can help the small and marginal farmers in nutritional security, provide ecosystem benefits besides helping mitigate the problem of climate change through sequestering carbon from the atmosphere.
Keeping this in view, Extension Division, Forest Research Institute, Dehradun organized an online webinar on "Agroforestry for Climate Change Mitigation" on 26th August, 2022 at FRI, Dehradun. Smt. Richa Misra, IFS, Head Extension Division, FRI welcomed all the participants and guest speakers and briefed the house about the objectives of the webinar.&nbsp;
The webinar was inaugurated by Dr. Renu Singh, IFS, Director, FRI, Dehradun. In her inaugural address she emphasized that there is a lot of scope of agroforestry especially in enhancing forest cover as per the target of the National Forest Policy along with its potential for biomass production and carbon sequestration. She spoke how the National Determined Contribution (NDC) for climate change mitigation would require massive plantations to increase the tree and forest cover. Agroforestry will play a key role in achieving this and a number of fast growing species like Gmelina, Melia, Eucalyptus and Poplar would feature prominently in this.
This was followed by the session on Advance Agroforestry for Climate Change Mitigation by Dr. S. K. Dhyani, Country Coordinator, CIFOR-ICRAF Asia Program. He spoke at length on agroforestry and its impact in mitigating climate change. He mentioned how urbanization is happening at a fast rate and in the process green spaces have been shrinking at an alarming rate. Agroforestry can play a key role in ameliorating the environment, providing critical ecosystem services, providing nutritional security, increasing site productivity besides providing additional income for farmers. The second session was delivered by Shri Amit Anand,CEO,Carbon Check India Pvt. Ltd. He spoke on Agroforestry and Carbon Trading. He spoke at length on the IPCC and Voluntary Carbon Standards. Case studies on Carbon credit verification were also shared through his presentation. The programme was attended by Heads of Divisions of FRI, officers and scientists of FRI and students of FRI deemed university. Shri Rambir Singh, Scientist-E, Extension Division compered the programme and proposed vote of the thanks to all participants and dignitaries. Dr. Devendra Kumar, Scientist-E and Mr. Vijay Kumar, ACF, Shri Anil Kumar and other officials of Extension Division, Forest Research Institute, Dehradun were present on the occasion and helped in successful organization of the webinar.&nbsp;

Haridwar: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the first International Veterinary and Ayurveda Seminar organized at the auditorium of Uttarakhand Ayurved University, Rishikul on Sunday.
Addressing the program, CM said that India has been a major country since Vedic times to implement traditional knowledge in the field of livestock health through Ayurveda.
He said that the fifth Veda that is Ayurveda gives the message of "Sarve Santu Niramaya" (may all be happy and free from illness) which is an integral part of our rich ancient heritage.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his "Panchpraan" development strategy has laid emphasis on saving this rich ancient heritage and traditional knowledge to achieve the country's development goal.
The Chief Minister said "Ayurveda is not only a medical method but also a way of leading an ideal life. It does not only cure diseases, but by adopting Ayurveda, we can prevent our bodies from getting sick."
He said that livestock is the great strength of our country, saving is our main duty and by using Ayurveda along with human resources, we can keep our livestock free from diseases.
He said, "Ayurvedic veterinary medicine is using herbal resources available in the state for disease prevention and disease control of animals."
He said that we understood the importance of Ayurveda very well in the Corona period.
Expressing concern over the use of antibiotics in animals more than humans at present, the Chief Minister said, "This situation is extremely harmful not only for animals but also for us, which can be controlled only by adopting Ayurveda."
He said that due to the abundance of herbs in Uttarakhand, Ayurveda has more importance here.
He said that Uttarakhand is blessed by nature. Many rivers flow here for twelve months and 71 per cent of the land is covered with forests and now both mountain water and youth are working in every area.
"With the cooperation of the Central Government, we are continuously working in the field of Ayush and Ayurveda and are also trying to take the benefits of Ayurveda to the common people, CM Dhami said.
He said that our government is working on priority for the operation of 300 Ayush health and wellness centres and the establishment of 150 Panchkarma centres. We are making efforts for this by giving wide expansion to employment and the economy through the development of Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Naturopathy.
He further stated, "Our government has started a State Livestock Mission in the state, under which an investment of 60 crores has been planned. Due to this, seven thousand cattle rearers have got direct employment and ten thousand cattle rearers got indirect employment."
He said that the world's richest and most efficient animal health tradition exists in the villages of Uttarakhand. This knowledge can prove to be a revolutionary step in the field of animal health.
He said that our government is committed to strengthening veterinary services in Uttarakhand and serious work is being done in this direction to promote Ayurveda, the work of increasing the supply of medicines related to Ayurveda in veterinary hospitals is going on continuously
"While on the one hand, we are working continuously for the goal of Antyodaya, on the other hand, with the mantra of "sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas as well as sabka prayas", many initiatives including livestock development and AYUSH are being implemented and moving forward in the areas," Dhami added.
Keeping this in mind, we have made a provision of 14.15 crores for the construction of livestock, Gau Sadan in the local bodies in this budget, while a separate provision of 2.79 crores has also been made for the cow-rearing scheme, he said.
The Chief Minister said that our government is continuously working under the mantra of simplification, solution, elimination and satisfaction and Uttarakhand is going to play an important role in the nectar of independence.
He said that our aim is to make Uttarakhand the best state in the country and we are continuously working to achieve this goal and everyone's cooperation is expected in fulfilling the resolution without option to build the best Uttarakhand.
Addressing the program, Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj threw detailed light on Ganga, mother cow and tourism.
Speaking at the function, Swami Baba Ramdev said that the importance of the mother cow is as much as that of Ayurveda. He said that through Ayurveda it is possible to cure serious diseases and the future of Ayurveda is bright.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Chandigarh (The Hawk): University School of Open Learning(USOL), Panjab University, Chandigarh, organized today a one-day national seminar on “India’s Internal Security Threats and the Role of Security Forces: An Emerging Security Perspective” at the university ICSSR Complex. The Chairperson of USOL, Prof Neeru gave a welcomed address and briefly spoke on the relevance of the theme in the face of the various challenges such as communal violence, religious disharmony, language discords, and terrorism etc. posing a big challenge to the country’s internal security.
As a keynoter, Lt. General (retired) and a sitting UPSC member, Raj Shukla gave a very elaborate and wide-angled talk on India’s security challenges, both external and internal, highlighting such key issues related to national security as health, cyber, artificial intelligence, technological tsunami and economic efficiency and many more. An expert on military and strategic affairs, with a long field exposure of the varied postings across the country, Mr Shukla invoked and advocated the Chanakya-niti, a blend of the Shastra(weapon) and Shaastra (scriptures), as major guiding principles in the matters of security issues/concerns and also called upon the academia and the universities of the nation to equip and advance themselves on the issues related to national security research and innovation.
The guest of honour and Honorary Director of ICSSR, Prof Sanjay Kaushik expressed his happiness for providing the venue to host the event that aimed at addressing the issues of national security as an issue of utmost importance. About forty research papers were presented in the two technical sessions.
Dr Jaskaran Singh and Dr Kamal Sandhu as convener and co-convener of the event. Three technical sessions were held in the seminar which were chaired by Prof. Parveen Sharda, Prof. Simrat Kahlon and Prof. Harsh Gandhar. Valedictory session was chaired by Prof. Anju Suri, Dean faculty of Arts, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Prof Manju Gera proposed a vote of thanks towards the end.

New Delhi (The Hawk): India’s G- 20 presidency takes centerstage as a seminar on ‘Ensuring Foundational Literacy and Numeracy’ in the context of Blended Learning was held in Pune today, at Savitribai Phule Pune University. The seminar has been organised as part of the G20 4th Education Working Meeting. Around 50 delegates from 20 countries attended the Seminar today. Union Minister of State for Education and External Affairs Shri Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, delivered the keynote address. The event was also graced by Shri Chandrakant Patil, Minister, Higher and Technical Education, Maharashtra; Secretary Higher Education, Government of India Shri K Sanjay Murthy, Secretary, School Education Shri Sanjay Kumar; Secretary, Skill Development &amp; Entrepreneurship, Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari; Member, NCF Steering Committee, Prof. Manjul Bhargava, G20 delegates, officials from International Organisations, and several senior officials of the Ministry of Education and State Education Departments. Shri Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, in his keynote address, shared how India’s G20 EdWG Presidency is focused on building and carrying forward deliberations in past presidencies and on addressing concerns which are impediment in realizing full transformational potential of education by bridging gaps in quality education and skilling, as well as on accelerating the pursuit of the SDGs. He shed light on how our National Education Policy lays particular emphasis on the development of the creative potential of each individual, as it is based on the principle that education must develop not only cognitive capacities - both the ‘foundational capacities’ of literacy and numeracy and ‘higher-order’ cognitive capacities, such as critical thinking and problem solving – but also social, ethical, and emotional capacities and dispositions. He stated that the ability to read and write, and perform basic operations with numbers, is a necessary foundation and an indispensable prerequisite for all future schooling and lifelong learning. The various surveys from across the globe suggest the challenge in education is the attainment of foundational literacy and numeracy. Attaining foundational literacy and numeracy for all children thus becomes an urgent priority for our educational systems requiring immediate measures to be taken on many fronts and with clear goals which will be attained in the short term (including that every student will attain foundational literacy and numeracy by Grade 3), Shri Rajkumar Ranjan Singh added. Speaking at the occasion, Shri Sanjay Kumar expressed how today’s seminar is expected to help identify appropriate policies and practices adopted by countries in G20 member countries and other invitee countries. He said that the ensuing panel discussions would focus on issues related to curriculum, pedagogical approaches, capacity building of teachers and other stakeholders and role of parents and other caregivers and community members in supporting learning at home. He also highlighted the concurrent exhibition on the theme of Ensuring Foundational Literacy and Numeracy, Digital Initiatives, Research and Skilling being showcased presently, which we will be visited between sessions by the delegates and other officials. The event also featured a detailed presentation by the UNICEF, on Foundational Learning and Numeracy pertaining to the theme. This was followed by an insightful presentation on Foundational Learning and Numeracy Practices in G- 20 countries by Prof. Manjul Bhargava, who lauded the progress that has been made in FLN in the last 20 years, and the exponential increase in accessibility to education. The seminar witnessed three distinct sessions today, with the first session featuring deliberations on the topic, Teaching Learning Approaches and Pedagogy for FLN in Blended Mode, chaired by Shri Sanjay Kumar. It included panelists from Spain, Australia, UAE, Indonesia and South Africa. This was followed by the second session, on the Role of Parents, Caregivers and Community Members in supporting FLN (Home Learning), Socio-emotional Skills and Health &amp; Nutrition of Children, chaired by Ms Aditi Das Rout, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development, with USA and China delegates as panelists. The third session focused on Capacity Building and Training of Teachers for FLN in the Context of Multilingualism, chaired by Smt Nidhi Chhibber, Chairperson, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The individuals on the panel included representatives from the United Kingdom, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Saudi Arabia, and UNICEF. A multimedia exhibition is also organised, showcasing best practices in education, FLN, digital initiatives, research and skill development. Over 100 exhibitors, including UNICEF, NSDC, NCERT, National Book Trust, Indian Knowledge Systems Division (IKS) and startup initiatives will present their contributions. This exhibition will be open to local institutions, students, academicians and researchers from June 17 - 22, 2023, except on 19th June, 2023.

Roorkee (The Hawk): A two-day ICSSR-sponsored national seminar titled "Revamping Indian Tradition and Culture through NEP 2020: Multilingual, Multicultural, Multidisciplinary Modes of Education" was organized by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Roorkee, Roorkee, Uttarakhand. The National Seminar, sponsored by ICSSR and held at IIT Roorkee's Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, convened around 130 participants across India. Prof. Binod Mishra, a distinguished Professor of English at IIT Roorkee, served as the convener. The seminar covered a wide array of themes, including Atmanirbhar Bharat, youth empowerment through NEP, localization of education via NEP, gender and skill development, ICT in pedagogical training, media literacy challenges, and more. The seminar's first day began with a traditional welcome ceremony, including lighting a lamp and the Kulgeet. Shri A.K. Gupta, ICSSR representative, shared insights into ICSSR's goals and programs. The valedictory session had two talks, followed by an address by A. K. Gupta, former director of ICSSR. New Delhi : Officials announced on Wednesday that the Indian Navy would be holding a two-day mega summit the following week to reveal an updated "indigenisation roadmap" and display home-grown innovations relating to underwater swarm drones, firefighting systems, and robotics.
On October 4 and 5, at the second annual 'Swavlamban' seminar, the road map will be unveiled. The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, will be present at the gathering.
Officials have announced that the conference will feature displays of 75 technologies with potential military uses, such as those used in underwater swarm drones, autonomous weaponized boat swarms, and fire fighting systems.—Inputs from Agencies

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): Jammu and Kashmir's government organized a two-day seminar in Srinagar on World Tourism Day on September 27 to promote eco-tourism in the union territory. The seminar was attended by tour and travel agents, houseboat owners, environment experts, researchers and bird watchers, said officials.  The seminar was organized to reap the full potential of the Kashmir valley as an ecotourism destination. The officials hope that through this seminar lack of awareness of the places in the valley where ecotourism can be promoted at a large scale can be addressed.&nbsp;
“We have a number of beautiful destinations with good potential of eco-tourism and this is the good initiative taken by the department aimed to highlight the unknown destinations”. Said one participant.
The officials said that for the last few years’ tourist influx is increasing in the valley and this is the requirement of time to divert the attention of tourists towards other destinations where they can spend good time and enjoy eco-tourism. Apart from Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg and Mughal gardens Kashmir has a number of places with beautiful diversity especially mountains, wildlife centuries or parks that can attract tourists at large scale. So to promote eco-tourism the government is committed to highlight new destinations, said officials.  In the venue of the seminar, the tourism department also installed a bookstall and small photo exhibition regarding wildlife birds.

Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to the attendees of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam with his speech being translated for the audience in real-time using artificial intelligence.
Addressing the event on Sunday, the prime minister said, '"Those from Tamil Nadu, I request them to use your earphones (to listen to the speech) using AI technology for the first time."  Modi expressed hope that artificial intelligence would make it easier for him to reach out to the people. "This was my first experience. In future, I will use it and you will have to respond. Now, as usual, I speak in Hindi and AI will translate it to Tamil," he said.
The prime minister said, "Coming from Tamil Nadu to Kashi means coming from one home of Mahadev to his other home. Coming from Tamil Nadu to Kashi means coming from the place of Madurai Meenakshi to Kashi Vishalakshi's place."  "So, the love and bond that exist in the hearts of the people of Tamil Nadu and Kashi is different and unique. I am sure, the people of Kashi will leave no stone unturned in serving you all. When you leave, along with the blessings of Baba Vishwanath, you will also take with you the taste, culture and memories of Kashi," Modi said.  The Kashi Tamil Sangamam, which began on December 17 and will continue till the end of the month, will witness the participation of 1,400 dignitaries from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.  Besides cultural exchange programmes, an exhibition showcasing the rich tapestry of art, music, handloom, handicrafts, cuisines and other distinctive products from Tamil Nadu and Varanasi will be held during the event.  The Union Ministry of Education is the nodal agency for the event with participation from the ministries of culture, tourism, railways, textiles, food processing, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), information and broadcasting, skill development and entrepreneurship, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and related departments of the Uttar Pradesh government.  The Kashi Tamil Sangamam will encompass lectures covering literature, ancient texts, philosophy, spirituality, music, dance, drama, yoga, and Ayurveda. Additionally, seminars are planned on innovation, trade, knowledge exchange, education, tech and next-gen technology.

Dehradun (The Hawk): On Monday, Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami participated as the chief guest in a State Credit Seminar organized by NABARD at a local hotel, emphasizing the importance of NABARD's role in the development of agriculture, horticulture, and small and medium industries in Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister unveiled the State Focus Policy Paper 2024-25 on this occasion. Expressing gratitude to NABARD, he mentioned that NABARD has prepared a loan scheme of forty thousand crores this year for the development of agriculture, horticulture, and small and medium industries in Uttarakhand, which is more than thirty percent higher compared to the previous year. He stated that this loan scheme is no less than a blessing for small farmers and individuals involved in small and medium enterprises. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for proper monitoring of the loan system and highlighted the crucial role of banks in reaching out to deserving and eligible individuals with loans, credits, or financial assistance. He urged the banks to ensure that those in need and eligible for loans do not face unnecessary hurdles in formalities related to loans. Chief Minister Dhami mentioned that the Women's Empowerment Bill has been passed in both houses of Parliament. The state government is providing a 30 percent reservation for women in government jobs in Uttarakhand. He urged NABARD officials to initiate special schemes for women in the state to ensure that they also benefit from these initiatives. He shared his recent interaction with the beneficiaries of Tehri district, who expressed the significant assistance received through the Empowered Sister Festival scheme. He stressed the need for simplifying procedures for obtaining loans from banks for such schemes. The Chief Minister stated that the government has formed the Migration Prevention Commission to prevent migration from mountainous areas. He called for a special campaign for loan allocation in mountainous regions to make credit easily accessible to those in need. He emphasized the significant role of banks in this process. He further highlighted the government's efforts in rural development, basic amenities, connectivity, and infrastructure improvement in remote areas. He underlined the importance of climate and geographical conditions in Uttarakhand for activities such as horticulture, aromatic plants, medicinal plants, dairy, fisheries, beekeeping, mushroom cultivation, and organic farming. The Chief Minister concluded by stating that the state government is working towards the vision of a developed Uttarakhand with a focus on both urban and rural areas. He stressed the need for banks to actively participate in achieving the goals of the Reverse Migration Mission and the various subsidy and credit-linked schemes for the welfare of the common people. The event was attended by Cabinet Minister Shri Ganesh Joshi, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Additional Chief Secretary Shrimati Radha Raturi, Shri Anand Bardhan, Secretary Shri B.V.R.C. New Delhi: The World Defence Show (WDS) 2024, currently being held in Riyadh, witnessed tri-service women's representation, a testament to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government's vision of leveraging Nari Shakti across domains, said an official statement from the Ministry of Defence on Thursday. Squadron Leader Bhawana Kanth, Colonel Ponung Doming and Lieutenant Commander Annu Prakash represented the Armed Forces in the various seminars of the WDS 2024, especially in the International Women in Defence-themed events.On February 7, Squadron Leader Kanth, a fighter pilot from the Indian Air Force, took centre stage as a panellist at the seminar titled 'International Women in Defence: Investing in an Inclusive Future', hosted by Saudi Ambassador to the United States Princess Reema bint Bandar Al-Saudi. "The Squadron Leader shared her inspiring journey of breaking barriers and soaring through the skies, thus becoming a part of the revered fighter pilot club in India. Her insights on leadership, resilience and the evolving role of women in modern warfare resonated with the diverse audience, who were impressed to know about her journey. She is the first female fighter pilot to take part in the Republic Day Parade (2021). She also participated in the Republic Day 2024 Flypast," the defence statement added. Colonel Ponung Doming from the Indian Army is the first woman officer to command the world's highest border task force located above 15,000 feet in the northern sector, with multiple firsts to her credit in over 20 years of service. She has been at the forefront of many challenging assignments as an engineering officer, it added. Lieutenant Commander Annu Prakash of the Indian Navy brought her expertise in maritime security and operations to the forefront. Her participation underscored the crucial role women play in safeguarding India's vast coastline and ensuring regional stability. Her presence at the event helped foster stronger ties and collaboration between India and other nations in the maritime domain, the release said. The defence department further added, "The participation of these three exceptional women officers at the WDS 2024 served as a testament to the growing role of Indian women in the defence landscape. The trio will deliver an inspirational talk about their remarkable journey at International Indian School, Riyadh, on February 8, to about 600 schoolchildren from various schools. The event will serve as a platform for showcasing the diverse talents and leadership skills of Indian women in uniform, inspiring future generations to follow their dreams and cover new ground." Seminar Director Professor VK Singh said that a total of 292 registrations were received in the seminar including foreign countries. 58 participants presented their research papers in the seminar. A panel of experts from diverse fields addressed the students on the NEP 2020.
