Aligarh: For persons have been booked for allegedly trying to strip a 38-year-old Dalit woman in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh district during a clash between two groups over watering their fields. The police registered an FIR against the four people under IPC sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 354 (B) (Any man who assaults or uses criminal force to any woman or abets such act with the intention of disrobing or compelling her to be naked), 307 (attempt to murder), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and section 3 (2) (va) of SC/ST Act at Harduaganj police station. Two men were injured in the incident, said police, adding that another FIR has also been registered in the matter. The victim claimed that she was informed about a clash between her sons and some upper caste men over watering their field. "When I reached there, I requested them to leave my sons as they were thrashing them but they did not listen to me and one of them tried to strip me by ripping off my clothes. They also abused me." However, she and her sons managed to escape. SP (rural) Palash Bansal said that two people from one group were injured during the clash. They were admitted to a district hospital for treatment. He added that teams have been formed to nab the accused and further investigations are on.—IANS

4 booked for attempting to strip Dalit woman in UP's Aligarh

Aligarh: Students, who had raised slogans in support of Pakistan during a Tiranga Yatra, have been booked under the relevant section of the Indian Penal Code. A Tiranga rally was organised by a college in Aligarh during which some students allegedly raised pro-Pakistan slogans. A complaint had been lodged with the college administration, along with videos of the procession. However, no action was taken and the college allegedly tried to suppress it.
The complainant then approached the police with the video, based on which, a case was registered against unknown students. The principal and the manager of the college have also been named as accused of "disobedience to an order duly promulgated by a public servant".
"A rally was organised by our college. Teachers walked ahead of us in the procession, followed by us. There were many students. Suddenly, we heard slogans of 'Pakistan zindabad'. We immediately informed our teachers about it. I only heard the slogans. I do not know whether they were being raised by students of the college or outsiders," said a student.
The principal said that though they received complaints, no video proof of the incident could be found. Aligarh Superintendent of Police (Rural), Palash Bansal, said that during the rally, in addition to the patriotic slogans, some objectionable slogans were raised.
"We took cognizance of the case after seeing the video. Action has been taken against the principal and the manager," Bansal said.

Aligarh (The Hawk): A 24-year-old Army jawan who had returned home to celebrate Diwali was allegedly shot dead near Aligarh by his lover's husband and seven others.
Bikan Kumar and his uncle were driving to Aligarh when they were attacked with sticks and sharp objects by eight men who then shot the jawan dead.
The incident occurred in Rasoolpur village, which is located within the Tappal police jurisdiction.
Janata Singh, Bikan Kumar's father, stated, "My son and one of the accused's wife were dating. Vijaypal, his brother Bablu, and six other members of their family murdered him."
Under IPC section 302, a case has been filed at the Tappal police station (murder). According to police, three people have been arrested so far, with Vijaypal still at large.
Kalanidhi Naithani, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), stated, "Vijaypal murdered the man over a relationship with the latter's wife. Three people have been arrested out of the eight people who have been booked."
Premveer Singh, the deceased's brother, stated, "Bikan Kumar joined the Indian Army in 2017 and was assigned to Hoshiarpur. When he and my uncle left the house, some villagers attacked his car and shot him in the head. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead."

Bulandshahr, UP (The Hawk): The Bulandshahr police have apprehended an interstate gang that was stealing at weddings in western UP districts.
Three people have been arrested in connection with it, including a 16-year-old boy.
They were found with Rs 57,000 in cash, gold jewellery, two country-made firearms, and two live bullets.
Sundra Nath Tiwari, SP city, named the apprehended gang members as Dildar, Neend Kapoor, and a young kid.
One gang member is facing nine charges, while another is facing six.
According to Kotwali inspector Sanjiv Kumar Sharma, the squad was camping in Aligarh and committed thefts in several districts, including Bulandshahr, Aligarh, and Hathras.
Their strategy was straightforward. They would disguise themselves as guests and sneak inside weddings. They would mingle with other visitors and take part in the festivities before quietly leaving with cash and jewellery.

New Delhi (The Hawk): A businessman from South Delhi who invested in Bitcoin lost Rs 17 lakh to a fraudster from Dubai who was using a man from Aligarh's bank account to carry out the crime, according to the police.
The Aligarh resident was detained by the South Delhi Cyber Police for providing the fraudster with access to his financial information in exchange for a commission.
The accused, according to a top police official, is named Sarik Naseem. According to the police, they have frozen Rs 3,84,897 from the accused's bank account.
The source further stated that on October 10, South Delhi Cyber police station received a complaint in this respect.
The complainant claimed that the accused defrauded him of Rs 17 lakh under the guise of an investment in USDT Bitcoin. Following receipt of the complaint, the police filed a FIR under sections 420 and 120-B read with section 34 of the IPC.
"The police investigative team began focusing on different aspects of the case as it developed. To learn more information about the case, extensive questions were asked of the complainant. The group gathered the accused's bank account statement and quickly reviewed it. Following that, the police worked with the officials of the concerned bank where the stolen funds were transferred to get the beneficiary's account frozen "police reported.
The police further stated that they had gathered all relevant technical information about the suspects and had used several sources to locate them.
Using technological surveillance, the police discovered that the culprit was hiding in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.
Naseem was detained after a police team was dispatched right away. He admitted to the police that he had given a Meerut resident who currently resides in Dubai access to his bank account information and his mobile banking apps in exchange for commission.

Taking a dig at the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party, CM Yogi Adityanath said that whenever there were job vacancies in Uttar Pradesh before 2017, the Saifai family used to move out for extortion. He said BJP government provided 5 lakh government jobs to the youth.
Under Mission Employment, PM Modi has just distributed appointment letters for government jobs to 75,000 youth, Yogi pointed out.

Aligarh (The Hawk): In Aligarh, a 32-year-old RTI activist was allegedly beaten to death by eight men, including the village chief and his son, on Sunday after raising concerns about the calibre of ongoing public projects in the region. His brother is now in critical condition.
According to the victim's family, Devjeet Singh, a native of Gorai village under Aligarh's Iglas police station, was slain as he and his brother were caring for their farm because he tried to expose gramme pradhan Devendra Singh's allegedly corrupt actions.
Raghvendra Singh, a DSP, said: "Pradhan, his son Kartik, and six other people are the subjects of a FIR under a number of IPC sections, including sections 506 (criminal intimidation), 147 (rioting), and 302 (murder). The accused men have fled. They are being targeted for arrest."
Mahendra Singh, Devjeet's father, stated to TOI: "Two months prior, my son had submitted an RTI request for information on the calibre of the village pradhan's development activities. Additionally, he sought appropriate action after filing many complaints with various agencies saying that low-quality materials were being utilised for building in the village. Since then, we have received numerous threats of death. We went to the police last month to report about Devendra, but nothing happened. Now, as a result of their carelessness, I have lost my kid."
Ramvir Singh, the victim's uncle, stated: "My nephews were mercilessly attacked by the local headman and his kin using lathis and other sharp objects. We hurried to the scene as soon as we learned about the attack. Devjeet, who received severe head injuries, passed away en route to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College. Surendra, his younger brother, is being treated at the same hospital and is in severe condition."
As word of the murder spread, hundreds of locals protested on Monday alongside the victim's remains, calling for the perpetrators to be taken into custody right away. The body was afterwards incinerated after senior police officers assured of time-bound action.
In addition to helping his father with his farming, Devjeet reportedly ran a computer centre in the hamlet. His 28-year-old wife and two young children are left behind.

Lucknow (The Hawk): The Delhi-Puri Neelanchal Express passenger who was murdered in a freak accident after being struck by an iron rod has been detained by the GRP Agra division for negligence. The engineer, contractor, and labourer have also been detained.
The event happened close to the Aligarh railway station, when an iron bar that had broken through a general coach window struck a passenger in the neck.
Sajid Ali, Pramod Kumar, and Vishesh Kumar have been named as the defendants.
All three have been charged with violating IPC 304 (A) (causing death by negligence).
According to Mohammad Mushtaque, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for the Agra division, "We were able to determine the sequence of events that resulted in the arrest of the three men after conducting a thorough investigation that included the inspection of track, electric poles, and scanning of CCTV. To determine if anyone else was also accountable for the death of rail passenger Harikesh Kumar Dubey, the investigation is still ongoing.
The cross-examination of the accused men and the physical proof, he continued, "indicated that a new track was being installed near Danwar station for a private cement industry. The main suspect, a labourer named Vishesh, had left the iron bar along the rail track to go get another tool for the rail laying job.
The 5-foot-long iron bar became entangled in the bull guard of the rushing train's locomotive, which threw it against an electric pole. The passenger was instantly killed when the bar struck him and bounced back into the railway coach, piercing through the window to impale his neck. The entire thing took place in brief segments.

New Delhi (The Hawk): In a case of reckless driving and jeopardising people's lives, a 48-year-old man has been missing for the past ten years. On Tuesday, Delhi Police apprehended him in the Saket neighbourhood of South Delhi, an official said.
Shyam Kumar Awasthi, a resident of the Uttar Pradesh village of Mahgaura close to Aligarh, has been named as the culprit.
In relation to the FIR filed in 2009 at the Sarita Vihar police station under section 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), Awasthi was missing and pronounced a "Proclaimed Offender" by the Saket Court on August 18, 2012. For the past ten years, he had been evading the Court of Law.
The proclaimed offender was hiding at Sector 4, Pushp Vihar close to Saket by assuming a different identity, according to Chandan Chowdhary, the deputy commissioner of police for the south. He was avoiding his presence before the court, according to specific information that was provided, Chowdhary said.
"In response to the information, a police squad activated interstate informants, performed local investigations, and uncovered crucial hints about the Proclaimed Offender. The squad set up a trap on December 12 and captured Awasthi on NBCC Road Sector 4 "the officer added.
He was presented before the relevant court.

Aligarh: A 15-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by five people in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh, the police said on Sunday.
Informing about the incident, Aligarh SP City Kuldeep Singh Gunawat said, "A 15-year-old girl lodged a complaint against five people of her village on March 4, alleging that she was gang-raped by them on March 3."
"Hearing the girl's complaint, she was immediately sent to the hospital for medical examination and a case under relevant sections has been registered against the accused," Gunawat added.
SP said, "A team has been formed and efforts to nab the accused are on." Further investigation is underway.
Previously on March 3, three youths were arrested for allegedly gang-raping a 14-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district, the police said on Friday. Officials said that the incident took place on Wednesday night. They said that the victim had gone to her maternal place, and was on her way home when she was intercepted by the three accused. On finding her all alone in the deserted area, the accused trio offered the girl to drop her home. When she refused, the accused allegedly forcefully took her to an isolated place and raped her, the girl's family told the police. Also, on February 20, a body of an eight-year-old minor girl, who was missing for hours, was found in a swamp in Bhuvani village of Uttar Pradesh's Basti on Sunday, officials said. According to locals, Purvi (8) attended a marriage function on Saturday night, and since then she was missing, later her body was recovered.
In response to the incident, teams from Lalganj Police Station, the canine squad, forensics along with senior officers inspected the spot. "The body has been sent for a Post Mortem. On the basis of the complaint of family members, the accused is booked. A police force is deployed on the spot," ASP added. The police's investigation into this matter is underway. Aligarh: A B.Com student of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been arrested for brutally stabbing his parents to death in Zakir Nagar locality under Quarsi police circle.
A 38 second video clip that went viral on social media on Thursday, shows the 20-year-old student hysterically stabbing his parents to death inside a room in their rented house.
Neighbours, who gathered outside the window, can be seen pleading with the youth to spare his parents.
According to police, the killer was identified as Mohd Gulamuddin.
He had an argument with his father Mohd Ishaq, 60, an Imam in a mosque, and mother, 57, over a petty issue.
The argument took a violent turn when the youth, in a fit of rage, locked the door of the room from inside and stabbed his parents using a pair of scissors, a kitchen knife, a hammer and an iron.
Hearing the commotion, neighbours rushed to the house and tried to stop him by shouting through the window but to no avail. Meanwhile, someone recorded the crime and uploaded it on social media. Police rushed to the spot after receiving information about the murders and arrested Gulamuddin. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
According to the house owner, Mohd Saleem, "The family used to live in Rampur and had migrated here for better education for their children. The deceased Ishaq and his wife were very good parents. The youth is suffering from some mental problem."
Gulamuddin has a brother and two sisters.
Aligarh SSP Kalanidhi Naithani told reporters, "The accused has been arrested, and a forensic department team was called to collect evidence." SHO Quarsi police station, Arvind Kumar, said, "The deceased couple's daughter, Mehzabi, filed a police complaint following which a case under section 302 of IPC has been registered against the accused. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) R.K. Sisaudia said, "The accused has been arrested and sent to jail. We have also recovered a country-made weapon from his possession." One of the victims, a differently-abled person, named Rahul, was seriously injured as the bullet hit him in the eye. Four other individuals were also caught in the crossfire. "The injured were taken to Khair Community Health Centre. Further investigation is underway," added the DSP.&nbsp;

Former Dean of the Faculty of International Studies, Dean of Students' Welfare and former Chairman of the Department of West Asian and North African Studies, and Director, of Centre of Continuing Adult Education and Extension, AMU, Prof Mohammad Gulrez is the Coordinator, of Conflict Resolution and Peace Studies Prog-ramme, and has vast administrative experience.
In addition to his 36 years of teaching and research work, Prof. Gulrez also acted as Director 'Centre for South African and Brazilian Studies (August 2015), which he established in November 2011 at AMU. Previously (from January 1999 to January 2004), he served as visiting Faculty, at the Department of Political and Administrative Sciences at the National University of Rwanda, Africa.
He has been a member of the Executive Council, AMU; Officer on Special Duty, AMU Murshidabad Centre; Founder Director, of the Directorate of School Education; and Provost of the Hall of Residence, AMU. Probably causing his death." "The body has been sent for postmortem to know the exact cause of death. Peace and order is maintained on the spot and legal action is prevalent in it," the SP added.
On April 14, a similar kind of horrific incident was reported from Haryana's Karnal, where a Pitbull dog attacked a 30-year-old man and bit his private part leaving him seriously injured. According to the information, the victim was identified as Karan Sharma (30), a resident of Bijna village.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said that private industrial parks will be set up in Aligarh, Saharanpur and Kanpur Dehat districts under the Pledge (Promoting Leadership and Enterprises for Development of Growth Engine) scheme.
While speaking at the check distribution ceremony for the development of a private industrial park under the Pledge Scheme, CM Yogi said," Six years ago nothing could happen in UP but today the same state is presenting its potential in front of the country and the world through its innovative schemes. The 'Pledge Scheme' is a part of the same series."
On the occasion, UP CM issued the first instalment of Rs 1,689.98 lakh to developers under the Pledge (Promoting Leadership and Enterprises for Development of Growth Engine) scheme for the development of private industrial parks in Aligarh, Saharanpur and Kanpur Dehat, an official statement said.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also said that in order to promote Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) a new authority will be set up to frame policies to make waterways accessible and cheaper for transportation of goods.
"We have inherited hundreds of years of heritage. There are 96 lakh MSME units in the state but they are dying due to lack of encouragement, design, technology, packaging and promotion. Due to this the artisans kept on migrating for a long time. I remember the good work done by the MSME sector during the Covid period, when 40 lakh labour migrants came back, who were absorbed by the MSMEs. UP has now become an export hub worth Rs.2.5 lakh crore".," he said.
"We launched the most popular ODOP scheme in the country. After this, we started the Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana which became part of the Union Budget and is being implemented across the country. Similarly, the UP government is running many other schemes," he added. He further mentioned that a private industrial park in Kanpur Dehat will be a good initiative as the city is already involved in various policies of the defence sector.
"Kanpur being a defence node, a private industrial park in Kanpur Dehat is a good initiative. I have full faith that all the entrepreneurs will take maximum advantage of the schemes of the UP government. Apart from this, I also appeal to all other MSME entrepreneurs to come forward to make private parks in their respective areas. Today the world is looking towards India with a positive attitude, similarly, the whole of India is seeing UP as a state of possibilities," he said.
UP CM Yogi also pointed out that the encouragement of private investment and traditional enterprise is required to meet the needs of the large population of UP.
CM Yogi also said that the country's first National Waterway from Varanasi to Haldia is functional.
"The new authority will work for the development of waterways in UP. A policy will be made to promote water transport in UP and how to make freight easy and cheap," he said.
As per the official statement, CM Yogi also emphasized the progress in infrastructure work, interstate connectivity by four lanes, the exodus of Purvanchal and Bundelkhand used to worry the whole country, western UP was at a dangerous juncture of bad law and order and insecurity but today change is visible in all these places.
"He further informed that the work of Ganga Expressway, Gorakhpur Link and Ballia Link Expressway, Lucknow and Kanpur Greenfield is underway. This will give further impetus to the industrial possibilities in UP," an official statement said.
"The CM said that all the big entrepreneurs of the country and the world came to Lucknow with investment proposals of Rs 35 lakh crore in the UP Global Investor Summit held this year. This investment will become the biggest medium to provide employment to one crore youth. MSMEs will become the base of these big industries," it added. —ANI

Kanpur: On Friday, Jyotiraditya Scindia, minister of civil aviation for the Union of India, announced the imminent launch of direct flights between Kanpur and Delhi.
The Union minister stated, "We have announced 59 new routes and 122 new routes will be announced in the future," during his address at the opening of the new terminal building at Kanpur Airport. Kanpur to other major cities like Pantnagar, Aligarh, Moradabad, and Shravasti is a goal of ours. There are 11 active airports in the state right now, and another 11 are scheduled to open within the next three years. There will be a total of 22 brand-new airports in Uttar Pradesh. Scinidia promised that airports will be built in all of the major cities in the country, including Chitrakoot, Moradabad, Jhansi, Ghazipur, Aligarh, Azamgarh, Saharanpur, and Shravasti.

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday arrested a 19-year-old student of Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) for his alleged links with ISIS, a proscribed terrorist organi-sation.
The accused, Faizan Ansari alias Faiz, was arrested after searches at his house and rented accommodation in Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh as part of NIA's crackdown against modules of ISIS operating in the country, said the NIA.
Faizan has been taken into custody in a case registered by the NIA on July 19 under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The agency will be progressing with its investigations to unravel all the facets of the international conspiracy.
The searches at the house of the accused in Lohardaga district of Jharkhand and a rented room in Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh were conducted on July 16 and 17 and several electronic devices and incriminating materials and documents were seized, said the anti-terror agency. As per the NIA, Faizan had hatched a criminal conspiracy along with his associates and other unknown individuals through social media platforms to support ISIS activities in India and disseminate the outfit’s propaganda over various social media platforms.
"The conspiracy was aimed at carrying out violent terror attacks in India on behalf of ISIS," the NIA said.
Investigations have revealed that Faizan and his associates had pledged their allegiance to the Islamic State, stated the agency, adding "The accused was also actively in the process of radicalizing neo-converts and attracting them to the terrorist fold for enriching the cadre base of the ISIS in India."
Faizan was in contact with foreign-based ISIS handlers who were guiding him on recruitment to the banned outfit, said the NIA. "Along with other members of the ISIS, he was planning violent actions and was contemplating doing ‘hijrat’ to an ISIS conflict theatre abroad."

Aligarh (UP): A 55-year-old woman and her 22-year-old adopted daughter were allegedly beaten to death by her in-laws over a property dispute in Aligarh district, barely a week after her husband's death.
The double murder took place at Kaimthal under the Gonda police limits when Mukesh Devi was attending her husband's 'terahvin' (ritual conducted on the 13th day of the mourning period) along with daughter Priyanka at her in-laws' place.
Mukesh Devi's husband, Surender Singh, had died of a heart attack in Delhi on August 31.&nbsp;
At the ritual, Mukesh Devi was attacked by her brother-in-law and others with a stick and heavy objects.
When her daughter tried to save her, she was also brutally assaulted. Both suffered head injuries and were declared dead at a nearby hospital, police said.
An FIR has been registered against seven accused -- Dharmveer Singh, Mona Singh, Dubla Singh, Ramesh Singh, Neeraj Singh, Sonu Singh and Rakesh Singh -- under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 147 (rioting) following a complaint by the woman's brother Bhola Singh.
SP (Aligarh rural) Palash Bansal said, "Five police teams have been formed to arrest the accused. We are investigating the matter and action will be taken soon."
Mukesh Devi's nephew Bablu added, "My aunt married Surender Singh of Kaimthal nearly 30 years ago. They later settled in Delhi. My uncle had recently retired from the Delhi Transport Corporation. He died a few days ago and his brother brought the body to his native place for cremation. On Monday, as we visited the house for the terahvin, there was a heated argument between my aunt and her brother-in-law over property. It soon turned ugly and the latter attacked her."
"She was murdered for three bighas of land as the accused did not want the property to go to her adopted child. Her daughter was working at a private firm in Delhi," a neighbour said.&nbsp;
