However, despite protests broke out in different parts of the country with reports of violence in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal.The controversy took a more serious turn when Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor in Udaipur, Rajasthan, was beheaded in an Islamic State-style assassination act by two Muslim men who filmed the murder and threatened to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Both the killers along with their accomplices are in the custody of NIA.Another ISIS-style murder took place in Maharashtra's Amravati, where a pharmacist named Umesh Kolhe was stabbed to death. New York: Speaking at an event in New York on the sidelines of the ongoing UN General Assembly, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari claimed that the “Hindutva ideology being promoted in India fuelled violence against its Muslim minority in the country”.
He made the remarks during a high-level meeting on the effective promotion of the Declaration on Rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious and Linguistic Minorities, reports Geo News. When he started speaking about India, Bilawal said that “unfortunately, there is a state where the minority rights are being suppressed”.
He claimed that minorities are being suppressed in this state under its policy, adding: “India was once a secular state, but now it’s becoming a Hindu-dominated country.” “India’s Muslim minority is the largest in the world and Muslims are killed by mobs over the issue of cows,” Geo News quoted the Foreign Minister as saying.
He also stressed that the protection of rights of minorities was the “basic tenet of the protection of human rights in Pakistan”. “Kartarpur Corridor is a reflection of our efforts for interfaith harmony and it is a corridor of hope,” Bilawal said, adding that Pakistan celebrates Minority Protection Day on August 11 every year. The Minister made similar comments at a separate event also in New York where he said that “today, one of the worst manifestations of such Islamophobia is in Hindutva-inspired India”.

Hyderabad News: AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday slammed Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman over her statement that Muslims in India are doing better than those in Pakistan.

The Hyderabad MP took to Twitter for a point by point rebuttal to Sitharaman's comments made in the US at the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE), during a discussion on the resilience and growth of the Indian economy.

"For Finance Minister of Vishwaguru, the benchmark is Pakistan! Muslims in India have flourished DESPITE the Sangh Parivar's anti constitutional ideology, not BECAUSE of it," wrote Owaisi.

"For how long are Muslims going to be connected to Pakistan? We are not hostages or mascots against Pakistan. We're citizens. We want to be treated with dignity &amp; justice.

"If a section of Hindus demand better living standards, will you tell them to shut up because majority of people in Somalia are doing worse?" asked Owaisi.

He pointed out that the ruling party does not have a single Muslim MP in Lok Sabha. "This is damning. But BJP carries it as a badge of honour."

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader also found fault with Sitharaman for citing the increase in population of Muslims to deny that there was any discrimination.

"Populations grow or degrow based on demographic factors, not on the benevolence or malevolence of a Govt. However assume that Govt has a role, then census after census show a decline in growth of Muslim population in India. Would that mean that government is malevolent?" he asked.

"Population growth or decline is not the only measure of treatment of minorities. In today's India Genocidal Dharam Sansads are ignored by govt; ruling party MPs call for economic boycotts &amp; ask people to keep 'weapons' Just one state of Maharashtra alone had 50 anti-Muslim hate rallies. The state looks away when Muslims face lynchings &amp; violence. Instead, Muslims have to face bulldozers &amp; false imprisonment from the govt," wrote Owaisi.

"Every piece of govt data points at abysmal state of Muslim education. Muslims lag behind in education due to high poverty. It's a cruel joke that FM mentioned fellowships when govt stopped Maulana Azad Fellowship &amp; restricted Pre &amp; Post-Matric Scholarships for poor minorities."

"Minority affairs budget has been slashed by 40%! In Karnataka, your party govt has run a campaign opposing hijab, removed poor Muslims' reservations in education &amp; employment. Muslims' businesses have been targeted by govt policies AND by mob rule."

The FM says "law and order is a state issue" but the states where Muslims have faced the worst violence &amp; discrimination are BJP-ruled. In non-BJP states, the main culprits of violence are all affiliates of Sangh Parivar", he wrote.

Owaisi pointed out that tn Assam, Muslims are facing mass displacement in the name encroachments and, even in the capital city, genocidal slogans against Muslims have been raised. "From Bihar to Gujarat, Muslims have faced horrible arson and violence.A This is not petty "law and order" issue. You got angry &amp; demanded Modi's picture on some ration shop in Telangana. Anti-Muslim violence definitely deserves more of your attention than a picture of Modi." IANS

Nadda in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district on Monday. He said the BJP-led Narendra Modi government at the Centre has taken care of the poor, women, backward and underprivileged. Nadda, who belongs to the hill state, was addressing a public rally in Kangra's Jassur's town, near here, to commemorate nine years of the Modi government. This was the party's first major rally in the state after losing to the Congress in the December assembly polls. Nadda said in 2014 PM Modi conceived the idea the BJP should have its own offices. Then national president Amit Shah did the planning and today state and district-level party offices are coming up across the country. Nadda stated that the BJP is the biggest party in the world and that is why it has decided to build 887 offices, of which more than 500 offices have been set up, including in Nurpur and Palampur. "In Himachal Pradesh too, eight offices have been completed." Playing the religious and emotional card, Nadda said the BJP had passed a resolution to build a grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya at a meeting in Palampur in Kangra and "it is the strong will of Prime Minister Modi that he laid its foundation stone and very soon it will be dedicated to the nation". Taking a jibe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the BJP chief said the crown prince of the Congress went to Britain and talked about saving democracy. "This is an act to hurt the dignity of the country." Nadda said before 2014, there were only scams in the corruption-ridden government. "Under the leadership of Modi-ji, a government with schemes was formed in the country after coming out of scams." "Today the Modi government is working as a strong government, a decisive government." He said under the leadership of Modi, the government has made relentless efforts to reform various sectors of the Indian economy in the past nine years. "Our policies have focused on implementing measures like the GST and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code and have fostered innovation to make the New India future-ready. Today, India is the 5th largest economy in the world, with a young population at its disposal that is ready to lead us on the path of an Atmanirbhar Bharat." Nadda's rally, the first in a series of two, also marked the beginning of the party's campaign in the state for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections likely to be slated in May. The BJP holds three -- Kangra, Hamirpur and Shimla -- out of the four Lok Sabha seats in the state. The Mandi seat, where Nadda will address his second rally, is with the state ruling Congress. Nadda also inaugurated the party office at Nurpur where Union Minister Anurag Thakur and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur were present, among other state leaders. Speaking on the occasion, Thakur said Bengal is burning. Stalin, while addressing a meeting of Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers Forum on Saturday said that “Sanatana Dharma has to be eradicated just like mosquitoes, malaria, dengue and corona”.  K. Annamalai said that Udhayanidhi Stalin, who is a part of the INDIA bloc, was calling for genocide of the majority population in the country that believes in Sanatana Dharma. The BJP leader said that this would amount to “genocide of 80 per cent of the population”.  In a post on X, the BJP state president said, “The only resolve of the Gopalapuram family is to accumulate wealth beyond state’s GDP. Thiru Udhayanidhi Stalin, you and your father, or his or your ideologue have a bought out idea from Christian missionaries and the idea of those missionaries was to cultivate dimwits like you to parrot their malicious ideology.”  Annamalai also said that Tamil Nadu was a land of spiritualism and the best the DMK would be able to do is to hold a Mic in an event and rant out frustration.  The BJP is also planning to make this a major campaign across the country over Udhayanidhi’s statement. The BJP has already asked questions as to whether the INDIA front agreed upon this in their meeting in Mumbai.

Chennai: As the controversy over Udhayanidhi Stalin’s statement on Sanatana Dharma rages, the ruling DMK will hold its diamond jubilee celebrations in Tamil Nadu’s Vellore on September 17.
The party is working hard to ensure a mammoth public participation. Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and president of DMK, has called upon the cadres to turn up in large numbers during the golden jubilee celebrations, and the aim is to propagate its Dravidian identity.
The DMK was formed in 1949 in a public meeting at Robinson Park, Chennai which was in the then Madras Presidency. The ideology propagated by Periyar or ‘Thanthai’ Periyar on Dravidianism became the hallmark of the party.
The DMK will also hold, ‘Kalaignar 100- Quiz contest’ to make everyone aware of the Dravidian culture, ethos as also on the rich culture and history of Tamil Nadu.
Stalin’s sister and Member of Parliament and Deputy General Secretary of the DMK, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi is behind organising the quiz competition based on the Dravidian movement and on the stalwarts of the movement like Periyar, C.N. Annadurai and M. Karunanidhi.
DMK is now in a corner after the statement of state sports and youth affairs minister, Udhayanidhi Stalin that Sanatana Dharma has to be eradicated like mosquito, malaria, dengue, and corona which drew flak from the BJP and other Hindutva forces.
The BJP had immediately taken up the statement nationally and alleged that Udhayanidhi had called for the eradication of 80 per cent population of Hindus in the country. INDIA front has also faced fissures following the comment of Stalin’s son with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Shiv Sena leader, Uddhav Thackeray distancing themselves from the statement of Udhayanidhi.

Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Friday gave a clear hint about some prominent leaders of the BJP and JD(S) joining Congress, and said that he was “looking for an auspicious time to facilitate their joining his party”.
Speaking to reporters at his residence in Bengaluru, Shivakumar, who is also the state Congress chief, welcomed the announcement made by the former BJP MLA from Byndoor seat in Dakshina Kannada, Sukumar Shetty to join Congress.
Sukumar Shetty held a meeting with Shivakumar on Thursday. Shetty was denied ticket to contest in 2023 Assembly elections from BJP.
Shetty had said that the BJP “will not allow leaders to grow and there is a trend of pulling the legs in the party. There is no future for the BJP and so have decided to join Congress.”
Shivakumar while welcoming him to the party,stated, “I will not carry out ‘Operation Hast’. I am opposed to ‘Operation Hast’ as well as ‘Operation Lotus’. I am only here for co-operation. I am extending a hand of friendship. Whoever trusts the Congress party and its leadership, its ideology and programmes such as the Bharat Jodo Yatra, will be welcomed.”
When asked how many leaders are ready, Shivakumar maintained that he can’t provide figures but he said that opposition leaders themselves are coming out in the open. Answering a question on when they will join Congress, Shivakumar stated, “we need a good auspicious time so that it brings good to us”.
“We want good things to happen. In politics, you see no one is permanent. No permanent friends, no permanent enemies. It is said that politics is an art of possibility. You are seeing what is happening in our district? (Referring to development of sworn enemies BJP former minister C.P. Yogeshwar and former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy coming closer),” Shivakumar said.
When asked about Shivakumar personally inviting the leaders from the opposition parties, he said that he will not invite anyone. “They will also see their future in politics. No one is a fool. They will also have to look after their careers and life. Why people from surrounding regions of Bengaluru come and settle here, is for their career, education and future. No one is willing to move out of Bengaluru. In politics also similarly, they are thinking about their future,” he maintained.
“I could tolerate hardship and firmly stood with the party. No other person will face such consequences. What happened in Maharashtra? CM Eknath Shinde and NCP leaders got washed away in the washing machine,” he said ironically.
When questioned by the BJP talking about the possibility of Karnataka’s Ajit Pawar, Shivakumar maintained that he will talk about it later. Sources claimed that BJP was referring to Shivakumar as Karnataka’s Ajit Pawar.&nbsp;

On Thursday, he mentioned the continuing debate between progressives and conservatives 60 years after the Second Vatican Council, which ushered the Church into the modern world.
"Let us remain vigilant against rigid ideological positions that often, under the guise of good intentions, separate us from reality and prevent us from moving forward," he said. "We are called, instead, to set out and journey, like the Magi, following the light that always desires to lead us on, at times along unexplored paths and new roads," he said. On Monday, he approved a ruling that priests can administer blessings to same-sex couples under certain condition and as long as they do not resemble marriage and are not part of Church rituals or liturgies. While the pope's opening to blessings for same sex couples was welcomed by many, conservatives said it could shake the foundations of the faith and even lead to a Church schism. Since fellow cardinals elected him 10 years ago, Francis has tried to make the Church more welcoming to people who feel excluded, such as members of the LGBT community, but without changing any part of Church teachings on moral issues. He told Thursday's gathering that Christians should always be restless and open to change. "The Christian faith – let us remember – is not meant to confirm our sense of security, to let us settle into comfortable religious certitudes, and to offer us quick answers to life’s complex problems," he said. Francis said that when God calls, "he sends us on a journey, draws us out of our comfort zones, our complacency about what we have already done, and in this way he sets us free."

Some people cannot tolerate this progress. So they indulge in this useless politics."  He added, "The country's people have given them an answer in the last two elections, and they will do so this time as well."  Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli dismissed terms like "Bharat Jodo Nyay" used by the Congress for Rahul Gandhi's political campaigns, stating that they hold no meaning as the party has no intention of implementing them.  "These words that the Congress party uses for Rahul Gandhi's political campaigns...they have no meaning. The Congress party has no intention to implement them," Kohli said in Guwahati, speaking to ANI on Sunday.  Kohli highlighted the developmental strides in the northeast under the Narendra Modi government, contrasting it with the Congress regime. He noted the increased visits by the Prime Minister and Union Ministers to the region.  "Internet, highways, airports, and railways are at a pace never seen before. Airports have increased from 9 to 17, the second railway station opened in Nagaland after a hundred years. The Congress party was sleeping," Kohli added.

Nagpur: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has alleged that ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, attempts 'to spread anarchy under the pretext of farmers' agitation have been restarted', and said 'separatist terrorism' has raised its 'ugly head' through it in Punjab.
It also said the 'atrocities committed against hundreds of mothers and sisters' at Sandeshkhali in West Bengal has shaken the conscience of the entire society.  The Sangh also raised concerns over the ethnic conflict in Manipur, saying it created 'mistrust' between the two sections of the society- Meitei and Kuki that caused 'deep wounds'.  The RSS, the ideological fountainhead of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), made these remarks in its annual report 2023-24 presented by its general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale at the Sangh’s annual 'Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha' conclave that started in Nagpur on Friday.  The report's concluding part titled 'National Scene' talked about various incidents and developments in the country.  It said, the year 2024 will be remembered forever as the 'golden year of pranpratishtha (consecration) of Shri Ram Lalla in the newly-constructed magnificent temple at Ayodhya' in Uttar Pradesh.
"The historic event held on January 22, 2024 has been the realisation of dreams and resolve of millions and millions of Hindus the world over for many centuries. Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram is the civilisational icon of all noble and pious qualities and Sri Ram Mandir is the symbol of national identity," it said.  On the farmers' agitation, the RSS said, "The separatist terrorism in Punjab has raised its ugly head again. Under the pretext of farmers' agitation, especially in Punjab, attempts have been restarted to spread anarchy, just two months before the Lok Sabha elections."  On February 13, thousands of farmers began marching towards the national capital to push for their demands, notably the Minimum Support Price (MSP).  The three Delhi borders -- Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur -- have been witnessing a heavy deployment of paramilitary personnel to stop the ongoing protest of the farmers demanding to march to Delhi. Hundreds of farmers are still sitting at Punjab-Haryana borders for the past one month.  The Dilli Chalo march, also known as the Farmers’ Protest 2.0, is the second round of continuous protests and road blockades initiated by farmers in the northern states of Punjab and Haryana.  In the report, the RSS further talked about the Sandeshkhali incident.
"The incident of atrocities on hundreds of mothers and sisters, especially of the Scheduled Caste and tribal communities, in Sandeshkhali in West Bengal, has shaken the conscience of the entire society. It cannot be imagined that such incidents have been going on for years in any part of independent Bharat," it said.  "But what is even more abominable is that instead of giving the harshest punishment to the guilty persons, the government there (West Bengal) made efforts to save them. All parties should, rising above their political interests, unanimously take such drastic action on the issue of women's safety and honour that no one can even think of committing such a crime in the future," he said.  Sandeshkhali, a village in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, has been at the centre of a political storm for nearly a month and has witnessed unprecedented protests over allegations of sexual abuse by scores of women against local TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh.  On the Manipur violence, the RSS said the conflict created mistrust between the two sections of the society- Meitei and Kuki - causing deep wounds.  "It is unfortunate that the border state is undergoing a deep, inexplicable pain, and the psychological division of society is dangerous," it said.  The Sangh karyakartas (volunteers), on the basis of their communication with relevant people, have tried to save the situation, strengthen the society by morale-boosting and create an atmosphere of mutual cooperation and coexistence in Manipur, it added.  While on one hand there is perceptible awareness and enthusiasm for useful action in the Hindu society, a few problems are also challenging the nation, the RSS said.  "The disruptive and divisive forces are never happy with any positive development. Their agenda is to create disturbances and reap political and other benefits. The incidents at Nuh in Mewat area (of Haryana) where a section of Muslim community violently attacked a VHP yatra that triggered violence. The social tension prevailed for months and the issue is not settled," it said.  The forces that are inimical to anything, that is Bharat, Hindutva or Sangh, are ever active in search of newer plans and designs to disrupt or denigrate these three, it added.  "The frequent rising of the bogie, such as Sanatan Dharma, is the cause for all ills of our nation, or the separatist issue of cutting South, or the play of politics in the sensitive matter of caste census - all these are aimed at disunity of the nation through distorted narratives," it said.  The RSS also talked about the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, and said the importance of elections in a democracy cannot be overstated.  "Swayamsevaks not only have to perform the sacred duty of exercising their franchise, but also should ensure 100 percent polling," it said.

New Delhi [India]: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said that if the Bharatiya Janata Party wins the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and tries to change the Constitution, then the whole nation will be set on fire. Addressing the public at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan, Rahul Gandhi said, "If the BJP wins these match-fixed elections, and changes the Constitution, the whole country will be on fire. Remember this."
Rahul Gandhi further alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to fix the elections in his favour.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to do match fixing in these elections. Without EVMs, match-fixing, social media, and pressurizing the press, they cannot win more than 180 seats," Wayanad MP said. He further said that the Constitution will cease to exist if the BJP registers victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. "The day this match fixing becomes successful, our Constitution will cease to exist right there. Likening the BJP and RSS with "poison," Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday attacked the BJP-led government, saying this is the time to decide whether we want "democracy or dictatorship." "You have to decide if you want democracy or dictatorship... Those who support dictatorship need to be kicked out of the country. The BJP and RSS are like poison. You will die even if you taste poison," Kharge said.
