Washington: According to a recent study, persons who are genetically prone to stroke can cut their risk by up to 43 per cent by leading a healthy cardiovascular lifestyle.The research was led by UT Health Houston and the findings were published in the journal 'American Heart Association'.The study included 11,568 adults from ages 45 to 64 who were stroke-free at baseline and followed for a median of 28 years. The levels of cardiovascular health were based on the American Heart Association's Life's Simple 7 recommendations, which include stopping smoking, eating better, getting activity, losing weight, managing blood pressure, controlling cholesterol, and reducing blood sugar.The lifetime risk of stroke was computed according to what is called a stroke polygenic risk score, with people who had more genetic risk factors linked to the risk of stroke scoring higher."Our study confirmed that modifying lifestyle risk factors, such as controlling blood pressure, can offset a genetic risk of stroke," said Myriam Fornage, PhD, senior author and professor of molecular medicine and human genetics at the Institute of Molecular Medicine at UTHealth Houston."We can use genetic information to determine who is at higher risk and encourage them to adopt a healthy cardiovascular lifestyle, such as following the AHA's Life's Simple 7, to lower that risk and live a longer, healthier life." But stroke also occurs in younger adults - in 2014, 38 per cent of people hospitalized for stroke were less than 65 years old.People in the study who scored the highest for genetic risk of stroke and the poorest for cardiovascular health had the highest lifetime risk of having a stroke at 25 per cent. Regardless of the level of genetic risk of stroke, those who had practised optimal cardiovascular health lowered that risk by 30 per cent to 45 per cent. Mumbai: English actress Emma Corrin, who is awaiting the release of her movie 'My Policeman', recently opened up about the importance of intimate scenes in the film. The film, which also stars Harry Styles (Tom) and David Dawson, sees Emma playing the role of Tom's wife, Marion.
Talking about the intimate scenes and how they helped to move the narrative forward, Emma said, "When Tom and Marion are first intimate together, it's almost heartbreaking in the sense that, although they're physically close to each other, they're so far apart. I think it's one of the first times she realises there's something quite significant missing from their relationship. You feel that and feel for her, and that's very powerful."
The film is set in the 1957 Britain when homosexuality was a taboo. It tells the story of a married man falling in love with his best friend. But the 'many' intimate scenes in the film have become the talk of the town.
Adding how the bond between the three friends is crucial in the film, Corrin said, "The friendship that the three of them have is so central and we knew that the audience would really need to believe in that. We were lucky to have a three-week rehearsal process before we started shooting where we got to know each other."
Corrin, who identifies as a non-binary, found it challenging to play the character, "I was willing to explore it and I learned a lot. I certainly learned what it was like for people to exist at that time."
With hopes that the film will further conversations about the LGBTQIA+ community in society, Corrin concluded, "Marion's journey and what she does, is so central to furthering the narrative of queer acceptance today. It's why the film is so heartbreaking."

Diabetes is becoming more common among young professionals, according to Dr. Abhishek Shukla, secretary general of the Association of International Doctors. Even while they are working, they sit for extended periods of time and continue to eat fast food. This way of life is harmful.

The festival created a platform for the exchange of ideas, networking, and appreciation of literature, making it a significant event in the literary calendar. It also provided an opportunity for the students of Shoolini University to interact with the luminaries of the literary world and learn from their experiences.
The flower festival, which is being held side by side with the literature festival, added to the charm of the event. The flower festival shall continue till Sunday.

Young writers must not feel discouraged by rejection of their writings by publishers but should keep working hard to emerge successful, said the well known author Ruskin Bond at the inauguration of the third edition of Shoolini Literature Festival here today.

New Delhi: In yet another sensational story of another Indian founder taking his startup for a joyride, Broker Network (operated by 4B Networks) founder Rahul Yadav reportedly maintained a luxurious lifestyle such as owning a Mercedes-Maybach and hired a boardroom at the Taj Land's End for Rs 80,000 per day, as employees were left unpaid for months. According to a report in leading startup news portal Inc42, Broker Network burnt over Rs 280 crore in less than 18 months, while over 150 employees have not been paid since November last year.
"Yadav turned to his long-time employees to borrow personal loans to pay employee salaries. One such top-level employee lent close to Rs 50 lakh to Yadav. He has filed a criminal complaint against Yadav," the report noted, citing sources.
Other employees were also asked to take "advance salary" loans and transfer the amount to Yadav.
Employees alleged that all through this, Yadav maintained a luxurious lifestyle.
"Yadav told us luxuries such as his Maybach came from his earnings at Anarock," and he was "also looking to buy a Bentley," one employee was quoted as saying.
Yadav, who foundedAHousing.com has denied all allegations related to any wrongdoing at the company, according to the report.
Allcheckdeals India Private Limited (AIPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Info Edge, invested Rs 276 crore in Yadav's 4B Networks and provided debt financing of Rs 12 crore.
Now, Info Edge has initiated a forensic audit into the prop-tech startup in which it holds a stake, as Yadav "repeatedly failed to provide the information".
Founded in 2020 by Yadav, 4B Networks last raised Rs 90 crore in September 2022 at a valuation of $185 million.
AIPL sought information, including details and particulars of financial transactions, transactions with related parties and such other aspects, from 4B Networks and its current management.
"However, 4B Networks has repeatedly failed to provide AIPL with such information and has also not responded to the information requests by the company on several occasions," according to an exchange filing by Indo Edge.
"AIPL has exercised its contractual rights under the shareholders' agreement and articles of association of 4B Networks and pursuant to the same, is initiating a forensic audit into the affairs of the investee company," the filing further read.
The startup ecosystem has been rocked by several such cases in the past, including BharatPe Co-founder Ashneer Grover, Singapore-based fashion startup Zilingo founder Ankiti Bose and financial discrepancies at GoMechanic.—IANS

Minister of State, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Ashwini Kumar Choubey, presided over a public event for sensitising youth, children and communities on the diverse values of wetlands and the need for their conservation. The activities included plantation drive, seed ball making competition, Mission LiFE and Save Wetlands pledge and sight visit around the Gokul Jalashay. A street play titled “Bolta Jalashay” was also enacted by students to sensitize the crowd about the importance of waterbodies. Over three hundred people including school students and local communities in a Wetland Walk and were also educated about the wetlands and how humans and waterbodies can co-exist in a healthy environment. As 'Amrit Dharohars,' Shri Choubey emphasised the critical role that wetlands play in human well-being. Highlighting the importance of environment conservation, Shri Choubey stated that Gokul Jalashay is a societal asset that has sustained the region's prosperity across generations. Recognising the immense tourism potential of Gokul Jalashay and the livelihood opportunities that the wetland offers to the people of the region, MoS mentioned that it is our responsibility to save this wetland. He also elaborated on the importance of Mission LiFE campaign launched by PM in Kevadia, Ekta Nagar, Gujarat in October 2022 for environment conservation. MoS also felicitated the students for their performances in the LiFE Art Competition, organized on the occasion of World Environment Day.  Save Wetlands Campaign was launched by Sh. New Delhi (The Hawk): The Ministry of Environment, Forest &amp; Climate Change (MoEFCC) organised an event on Mission LiFE as part of Save Wetlands today in Buxar, Bihar. The event is in continuation to the Save Wetlands campaign organised at Gokul Jalashay, Buxar on June 08, 2023. The event was organised through Ministry’s Environmental Information, Awareness, Capacity Building and Livelihood Programme (EIACP) Centre at ADRI, Patna. Minister of State, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Shri Ashwini Kumar Choubey graced the day-long event which started with LiFEathon Run followed by inauguration of an Exhibition on LiFE and felicitation of winners of LiFEathon from boys and girls in three different categories of 12 kms, 7 kms and 5 kms respectively. Dr. Sujit Kumar Bajpayee, Joint Secretary, MoEFCC, Sh. Surendra Singh, Member Secretary State Wetland Authority (SWA), Shri Chandrashekar Rao, Member Secretary Bihar SPCB and Sh. Rajkumar M. and DFO Bhojpur were also present on the occasion. Around 550 boys and girls from different parts of Bihar registered for LiFEathon Run and successfully concluded the unique event aimed at promoting environmental awareness and conservation efforts, with a special focus on Mission LiFE and wetlands. Similarly, the exhibition on LiFE also saw participation from EIACP centres located in six states namely Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Uttrakhand and Delhi who displayed the products developed as part of Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) of Ministry. Besides above, ZSI, BSPCB, BIS, Bihar JEEVIKA and Bhojpur Forest Division also put up their stalls. After opening the exhibition, Shri Choubey took a detailed tour to each and every stall and appreciated the participants for taking real action on the Mission LiFE launched by The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The exhibition provided an opportunity to the attendees and visitors to explore innovative solutions, eco-friendly products such as bamboo handicrafts, water bottles made from bamboo, etc. Adding a vibrant touch to the event, a captivating nukkad natak engaged attention of the audience with a powerful performance, raising awareness about the significance of wetlands and the urgent need to protect and preserve them. Speaking on the occasion Shri Choubey said that wetlands are important for many reasons. He also mentioned about cultural, historical and social importance of these wetlands and appealed the participants to work unitedly to save these wetlands. He also mentioned that how numbers of cyclones are increasing and recalled how the Kedarnath tragedy took away many lives including his near and dear ones on this day 10 years ago and paid his heartfelt condolences to the families who had lost their family members in that unforgettable incident. Sh. Choubey also stressed that Prakriti and Pragati should go hand in hand and effort of each and every individual is important in saving the earth from such calamities. He appreciated the youth of Buxar who turned out in large numbers for LiFEathon early in the morning and named them as Paryavaran Prahari. He also expressed his happiness over the participation of so many young girls in the LiFEathon event and he also expressed his hope that these young participants will sensitise other people of Buxar also for the cause of Mission LiFE and wetland conservation. Dr. Sujit Kumar Bajpayee, Joint Secretary delivered the Keynote Address, highlighting the significance of wetlands, NPCA scheme and Amrit Dharohar programme. Udaipur (Rajasthan): Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday said that democracy is part of the thoughts and lifestyle of Indians and that is why the entire world looks towards India with great hope. “Thousands of years ago, when no one knew about democracy in the world, it was already established in India. Democracy is part of the thoughts and lifestyle of Indians and that is why the entire world looks towards India with great hope,” the Lok Sabha Speaker said while the 'Leadership Conclave' at the Mohanlal Sukhadia University of Udaipur.  While addressing the gathering, at the outset, Birla paid respect to the land of valour, courage, spirituality and sacrifice, Udaipur. He said that since ancient times, India has provided leadership to the world in fields like spirituality, education, science, art and literature, in which Rajasthan has played a very important role. Referring to India's freedom struggle, Birla said that leaders of different ideologies participated together in the nation’s freedom struggle and achieved success. He expressed the view that in its democratic journey of 75 years, despite its diversities, democracy has united the Nation. “India is leading the world today in all social, economic, and scientific fields on the basis of its democracy and able leadership,” he added. He expressed the view that Indians do not live only materialistic lives, but spirituality is at the core of their lives.  He further said that the nation has faced every crisis and every challenge collectively and because of this collective strength, today India is marching towards glory. “The entire world is looking towards India for the solutions to all problems because of his strong, capable and able leadership. That it is a reflection of the fact that capable and strong leadership can take the nation forward,” he said. Referring to India’s youth, Birla said that today Indian youth are leading the world in all professions. “Indian youth have proved their mettle in fields like research and innovation. The intellectual potential, inner energy and tireless effort of the youth are taking the nation to the pinnacle of achievements. Today the world's leading corporations are led by Indian youth. The intellectual and leadership potential of Indian youth has been recognized around the world due to which Indian youth are playing a leading role in emerging technologies like data science, machine learning, robotics, fintech and artificial intelligence,” he said. Lok Sabha Speaker emphasized that leadership comes from those who can spur innovation, inspire people from different walks of life and bring positive change in changing circumstances. He added that the youth are responsible for India’s future and in contemporary times, when the nation is headed towards becoming a global power, the role of leadership of the youth will be crucial for a bright future for the nation. Urging the youth, Birla said that India needs youth who, by adopting the nation's rich cultural diversity and technology, provide innovative solutions to all governance challenges while also conserving the environment. “In the changing scenario, future leaders will need a visionary outlook, proactive approach, emotional outlook, technical proficiency, ethical decision-making ability and ability to work together in order to anticipate upcoming challenges and act to resolve them,” he said. He emphasized that the nation and society need to prepare leaders who can solve the challenges of the future while contributing towards the development of a prosperous, inclusive and empowered India.
