Some of these indicators used for assessing performance are extrapolated and based on surmises and unscientific methods.The Ministry of Environment does not accept its analysis and conclusions for the following reasons: -<ul><li class="ql-align-justify">A new indicator in the Climate Policy objective is&nbsp;Projected GHG Emissions levels in 2050. This is computed based on average rate of change in emission of the last 10 years instead of modelling that takes into account a longer time period, extent of renewable energy capacity and use, additional carbon sinks, energy efficiency etc. of respective countries.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">Both forests and wetlands of the country are crucial carbon sinks which have not been factored in while computing the projected GHG emissions trajectory upto 2050 given by EPI 2022.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">&nbsp;Historical data on the lowest emission trajectory has been ignored in the above computation.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">The weight of indictors in which the country was performing well has been reduced and reasons for change in assignment of weights has not been explained in the report.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">The principle of equity is given very low weightage in the form of the indicators like&nbsp;GHG emission per capita&nbsp;and&nbsp;GHG Emission intensity trend. The CBDR-RC principle is also barely reflected in the composition of the index.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">India has already achieved the target of 40% of installed electricity capacity from non- fossil fuel based sources.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">The Copernicus air pollutant concentration data based on which DALYs are derived have higher uncertainty in regions with less extensive monitoring networks and emissions inventories. This limitation reduces the chance of accurate assessment of Air Quality.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">The indicators on Water quality, Water use efficiency, Waste Generation per capita which are closely linked to Sustainable Consumption and Production are not included in the Index.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">The Index emphasizes the extent of Protected Areas rather than the quality of protection that they afford. Management Effectiveness Evaluation of Protected areas and eco-sensitive regions is not factored into the computation of Biodiversity Indices.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">Again the index computes extent of ecosystems but not their condition or productivity. Efforts must be made to include metrics that truly capture ecosystem productivity such that regulatory, provisioning as well as cultural services provided by various ecosystems like forests, wetlands, croplands are assessed and reflected in performance.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">Indicators like Agro biodiversity, soil health, food loss and waste&nbsp;&nbsp;are not included even though they are important for developing countries with large agrarian populations.</li></ul>

Guwahati (The Hawk): The deployment of 5G technology, according to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Chairperson Dr. P.D. Vaghela, will help India realise its aim of digital empowerment and enhance the wellbeing of its citizens.
"The country would experience an extraordinary development trajectory thanks to the huge network performance enhancements that 5G technology will provide. The economy as a whole and a number of industries would be significantly impacted by 5G, "At this session, he stated.
Vaghela added that with 117 crore telecom users and 825 million broadband subscribers, India is currently the second-largest telecom market in the world.
According to him, India has identified technology as a crucial component for social and digital inclusion as well as quick economic growth. He claims that the Digital India programme has significantly increased the usage of technology and has significantly changed the Digital India profile across several industries.
The TRAI director also discussed ways that the various parties might work together to hasten the deployment of the infrastructure needed for 5G, taking into account the problems and difficulties in the northeastern states. Mumbai: Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre compared the 'India's Best Dancer 3' contestant Shivam Wankhede with Govinda after his dance performance on 'Dil Na Diya' from Hrithik Roshan's 'Krrish'.

He stunned the judges and celebrity guest Remo D'Souza with his dance moves.

Sonali said: "I see Govinda ji in your dance."

Remo praised Shivam and his choreographer Sonali Kar for their dance performance and said : "It felt as if electricity passed through me, and you shook me."

He added that many contestants came and showed their talent but these two just left everyone behind and the dance moves were completely different from the original one.

"We saw so many great performances and then these two came on stage to say, 'we are here as well' I have seen this song in the film, and it had some brilliant dance moves, but watching this performance live, what you have done today is something else," concluded Remo.

'India's Best Dancer 3' is judged by Terence Lewis, Geeta Kapur, and Sonali Bendre.

Bhubaneswar: Talented sprinters Reyan Basha and Dondapati Mrutyam Jayaram have been selected to take part in the 2023 Asian Junior Athletics Championship camp, which will be held in NSSC, Bengaluru.

Both Reyan and Dondapati train at the Odisha Reliance Foundation High Performance Centre.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Reyan represents Odisha U-18 Boys and India U-18 Boys. He has one gold (100m sprint), two silver (one each in 200m sprint and 1000m medley relay) medals at the 18th National Youth Athletics U-18 Championship, which was held in Udupi in March 2023. He also made a successful international debut by winning the boys medley relay silver medal at the 5th Asian Youth U-18 Athletics Championship, which was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in April 2023.

On the other hand, Dondapati Mrutyam Jayaram won the gold in 100m sprint at the Khelo India Youth Games with timings of 10:53 seconds. He also secured first position in the Junior Fed Cup Championship 2023 and at the National Junior Championship 2022 in the 100m category.

He was also selected for the relay squad for the Asian U-20 Championship camp. In February 2023, Dondapati was also awarded Rs 1 lakh for winning the gold medal in 100m sprint with an impeccable timing of 10.96 seconds at the Khelo India Youth Games, which was held in February this year.

"I am very proud of the boys. They have been performing exceptionally well for the past few months. I am sure that they will take a lot of confidence from this and look to build on this in the upcoming months," said Martin Owens, head coach of the Odisha Reliance High Performance Centre about Reyan's and Jayaram's performance, in a media release.

Coach Owens further praised the sprinters for their dedication and their hard work.

"We spotted them last year during and then we called them for the trials at the high-performance centre. Ever since they have joined, they have only been better and breaking records. They will always have our full support and I am sure that many youngsters will look up to them as their role model and inspiration," he said. IANS

Ahmedabad: Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Aiden Markram has hailed the batting performance of his IPL and Proteas team-mate Heinrich Klaasen, who played a valiant knock against Gujarat Titans.&nbsp;

Chasing a target of 189 runs for victory, Heinrich Klaasen hit a fighting fifty (64 off 44) but he didn't get much support from top-order batters as SRH were restricted to 154/9 in 20 overs, losing by 34 runs on Monday night.&nbsp;

"He's (Klaasen) a great player and I'm very happy for him, the world can see the class and power he's got. The rest of us haven't assisted him. It's tough for him to be on the losing side after performing the way he has," said Markram at the post-match presentation.

The SRH skipper also mentioned that the chase became difficult once they lost four wickets in the powerplay, adding that their bowling were also slightly off.

"We were in the game at the halfway mark but when you lose four wickets in the powerplay, it becomes difficult," said Markram.

"(On their bowling) We were slightly off, to be honest. We've got high-class bowlers who can swing the ball. Shubman's innings was incredible and so did their number three. We stuck in there and credit goes to Bhuvi to show us how it's done," he added.

With their loss against Gujarat Titans, SRH were eliminated from the playoffs race. They have just 8 points in 12 matches.

Asked about their remaining two games, Markram said they will play for pride and try to give some opportunities to some players.

"A lot of pride for us to play for. We'll try to give some opportunities if we're allowed to. It'll be nice to finish off the tournament in good spirits but unfortunately, we haven't been good enough in the tournament this year. When a team is one down in the backend, it can go either of the two ways. It was important to break the partnership and Bhuvi did that for us. New Delhi: Markets regulator SEBI has proposed the creation of a Performance Validation Agency (PVA) to validate any claims of performance by SEBI registered intermediaries and other entities.
Intermediaries/ ther entities need to showcase their performance to attract more clients and grow and continue to do business. However, in the rush for more clients, some of these entities may indulge in making inflated claims of their performance or recommendations to investors, thereby misleading the investors, said a SEBI consultation paper.
Currently, Asset Management Companies (AMCs) calculate the performance of mutual fund schemes. Similarly, portfolio managers have been permitted to report their performance vis-a-vis certain benchmarks. The claims made by these intermediaries/entities are mostly self-verified and currently there is no dedicated agency to validate such claims.
Investment Advisers (IAs) and Research Analysts (RAs) are also inherently involved in giving investment advice and 'buy/sell/hold' recommendation, respectively. In terms of the advertisement code for IAs and RAs issued by SEBI, IAs and RAs are currently not allowed to make any reference to past performance.
There has been a demand from registered intermediaries to showcase their performance to investors so as to establish/ enhance their credibility.
Accordingly, it is proposed to create an independent body called Performance Validation Agency (PVA) to validate the claims/performance related to investment advice, 'buy/sell/hold' recommendation, mutual fund scheme, portfolio management service, algorithm, etc. by SEBI registered intermediaries/other entities such as IA, RA, portfolio manager, AMC, stock broker, etc.
PVA shall validate the claims by SEBI registered intermediaries/ other entities of the actual profit made by their clients on the basis of advice/ recommendation/ services provided by them.
PVA shall validate the performance claims of SEBI registered intermediaries/ other entities. PVA shall validate the performance of algorithms by testing the algorithms during a prospective reasonable test period.
Apart from the above, any other performance claim may be validated by PVA, subject to the core principle that there will be no selective cherry-picking of favourable events/ strategies/ client and other results. Further, any claim should be independently verifiable from sources other than the entity making the claim.

The way it was portrayed, and the way you performed, we couldn't tear our eyes away. It felt like you were beyond our reach, so exquisitely beautiful even to this day."

New Delhi: By celebrating her 90th birthday with a live performance in Dubai on September 8, Asha Bhosle will be proving yet again that she not only has a tremendous zest for life, but also an ebullience that has enabled her to rule Hindi film music across many genres, from classical to cabaret numbers, sing for generations of composers and audiences, and bring home every award that counts, barring the Bharat Ratna, which she rightfully deserves.&nbsp;
I first met Asha Bhosle after the release of 'Hare Krishna Hare Ram' (1971), where I was assisting Dev Anand, and met her last as recently as in 2019 at a music festival in Jaipur, where she was surrounded by friends and admirers, and yet she mentioned to all those present how long our association has been.&nbsp;
I have had the good fortune of writing the lyrics of two of her ageless hit numbers -- 'Jab Chhaye Mera Jadoo' ('Lootmaar'; 1980) and 'Suniye, Kahiye, Kahate, Sunate Baaton Baaton Mein Pyaar' (with Kishore Kumar in 'Baton Baton Mein'; 1976). Over these years, I have viewed her as a warm and affectionate person, and a thorough professional. And I have never seen her sloppily dressed, even during rehearsals.
She had this magical quality of hearing the words of a song and start singing it. She would of course follow the music composer and yet, wherever necessary, not hesitate to lend her own touch. She brought spontaneity to her singing, but it was the way she grasped her songs that would take us by surprise. In the 1950s and 1960s, songs used to be recorded over multiple takes, but Asha Bhosle, unlike many others, never complained.
Not surprisingly, having spent her opening decade in the film industry being completely overshadowed by the established greats of her time -- notably Shamshad Begum, Noorjehan and Geeta Dutt -- she went on to be sought after by composers spanning generations.
She can look back to working with composers from Hansraj Behl and Sardul Kwatra, to Shankar-Jaikishan, who were behind her first brush with national fame with the 'Boot Polish' (1953) song, 'Nanhe Munne Bachche Teri Mutthi Mein', to O.P. Nayyar, who made her the lead female voice of B.R. Chopra's 'Naya Daur' (1957), to the southern masters Ilaiyaraaja and A.R. Rahman.
What was wonderful about her was that even if she was singing for a young composer, say, an Anu Malik, an Anand-Milind, or a Jatin-Lalit, she would sing with the same passion as she would for a Rajesh Roshan, or a Bappi Lahiri.
In her crowded life, Asha Bhosle suffered a lot personally -- she had to end her abusive marriage with Ganpat Rao Bhosle, with whom she had eloped when she was 16; she was the single mother of three children, two of whom -- music composer Hemant Bhosle and Varsha Bhosle, a singer and journalist who committed suicide -- died when they were young and showed promise; and even her best years with Rahul Dev Burman, whom the world knew as 'Pancham' but she lovingly called 'Bubs', after their marriage in 1980, was terminated by fate because of his death in 1994.
In between, she was romantically linked with O.P. Nayyar, but they parted ways in the 1970s, by when Pancham had become very much a part of her life. Pancham enabled Asha Bhosle to foray into multiple genres of music, with 'Teesri Manzil' being the turning point, which went on to define her career. Interestingly, Pancham's father, the great Sachin Dev Barman, once had a fight with Asha's sister, Lata Mangeshkar, and started giving the younger sibling all the songs that had been assigned for the elder one!
It was Asha Bhosle's joie de vivre that helped not to let the tragedies in her life diminish her. At work, she could come across as quite cut and dried, but at home, she exuded sweetness and warm hospitality. I remember one Diwali, when we were at Pancham's house playing cards (Shakti Samanta and Rajesh Khanna were among those who were at the table), and we had the most memorable prawn curry cooked by Asha Bhosle.
On another occasion, it was Saraswati Puja, and in the Bengali tradition, she insisted on serving us 'khichuri' and 'baigan bhaja'. It was this hospitality and good food that she was able to introduce in Dubai, which she would visit frequently, when she launched her restaurant Asha. She did not join the venture as just another investor, but she was very much a part of the menu planning and food trials.
Talking about her hospitality, I remember the time I had to pick up Javed Akhtar from the airport. Asha Bhosle was also returning to Mumbai by the same flight, but her driver did not show up. So, I gave her a ride to her house and when we reached there, she wouldn't leave us without serving us tea.
The only time I saw her being slightly socially awkward was when I went for lunch with a producer friend of mine and Rekha -- the two were in a relationship then -- to the Juhu Hotel, which is still around in Mumbai.
As we were having lunch, Asha Bhosle, dressed uncharacteristically in bell bottoms and a top, walked in with Pancham, but seeing us, she did not exude her usual warmth.
The two sat at a corner table and quietly left in a short while. Maybe, she did not want industry people like us to start talking about them at a time when Pancham was still married and in the process of getting a divorce.
As Asha Bhosle prepares for her 90th birthday concert, which may be another world record in a career studded with many, one can wonder how many artistes would be able to pull off a live show of this magnitude in the eighth decade of their singing career? Having sung more than 20,000 songs in 25-odd languages, without anyone ever complaining about her diction or pronunciation, Asha Bhosle, I am certain, must be unfazed.

New Delhi: In the upcoming episode of the reality show ‘India’s Got Talent’, Raaga Fuzion is all set to give a spectacular performance, and steal the hearts of viewers with their soul-stirring renditions of ‘Tu Hi Re’ and ‘Sun Re Saki’.
The talent reality show will pay tribute to the incredible legacy of the Indian Railways, in the upcoming weekend episodes. Making the episode special is the presence of director-choreographer Farah Khan, who will join the judges’ panel, alongside Badshah and Kirron Kher as a guest judge.
Raaga Fuzion which comprises Jayant Patnaik (Ludhiana), Ajay Tiwari (MP), Amritanshu Dutta (Patna) and Harshit Shankar (Patna) will perform renditions of ‘Tu Hi Re’ and ‘Sun Re Saki’.
Farah, impressed by their performance, said: “It was truly amazing. In the middle of the performance, I kept telling Badshah that I was getting goosebumps. And, Badshah was flexing the entire time, saying this is our talent. It started as a performance but turned into a rock concert at the end. Bravo!”
Awed by their act, judge Badshah compliments them saying, “Raaga Fuzion, I was waiting to catch a mistake, but I didn’t find any. Every time you receive a golden buzzer from others before me, it’s because I get so engrossed in your performances. In my heart, there’s always a golden buzzer for you. You are amazing.”
Raaga Fuzion also enjoyed the support of the Indian Railways Musicians on the show. And it was then revealed that Raaga Fuzion’s Harshit Shankar has a special connection to the group as his father is also a member of the Indian Railways Musicians.
Furthermore, viewers are in for a treat as Harshit and his father will showcase their musical synergy by performing a soulful flute rendition of ‘Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai’, on a special request made by the show’s host, Arjun Bijlani.
The stage is set to sizzle with an array of spellbinding performances by the Top 13 contestants who will honour the monumental contribution of the Indian Railways.

Mumbai: Singer and judge of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ Neeti Mohan has found a new way to express her admiration for the contestants in the singing reality show. 
‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ features Himesh Reshammiya, Neeti, Anu Malik as judges, and Aditya Narayan as the host.
Every judge does something different and unique to express that they love a particular performance.&nbsp;
Anu Malik has been known for his classic comment ‘Aag Laga Di’, Himesh for his iconic dialogue ‘Jai Mata Di, Let’s Rock’, and now, this season, Neeti has decided to give standing ovations with a difference to her favourite performances by literally standing on top of the judge’s chair and clapping.
In the mega audition episode, contestants Sonia and Vijay Laxmi gave a spellbinding performance to the songs "Hari Om Hari" and "Gulaabo", which resonated with the audience and prompted Neeti to give them a standing ovation in her distinctive style.
Standing on the top of the chair, Neeti said: “That was my comment.”
The show has started off on a melodious note with contestants from across the country auditioning to get a position in the Top 12 of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2023, a few captivated the judges with their distinct voices and passion for singing.
Earlier, talking to IANS, Neeti had shared the points she keeps in mind for judging a contestant.
“When I am listening to somebody, I am absolutely listening to them with an open mind, because they all bring something from where they come from- their roots, training, the kind of music they have heard. So if somebody's voice touches my heart, then they have won me. If you have something that is very 'you' about, your individuality is very important for me. And that makes you unique," she said.
Neeti went on: "If you sound like someone, and you have only heard that one voice, and you just want to sound like that one voice, I think then we have to guide them to listen to more singers, different kinds of music, so that you are able to do more kinds of music. It's important, otherwise you will just have that one style, which might not take you very far in this career."
About her association with the show, the 43-year-old singer had said: "This was the show I watched when I was a little girl, who was just watching and learning. So it is an iconic show and it gives me immense privilege to be on a show like sa re ga ma which inspires millions to make their career in music."
"Last year judging kids was so amazing, the kind of talent we had was very promising. Their future's so bright. We had a blast with Shankar Mahadevan and Anu Malik. Judging seniors is very different, because they bring a lot of expertise and training in their voice, but I think it's amazing to hear new voices. I love it," she added.

Colombo: Ever since Shaheen Shah Afridi rattled the Indian batting line-up with a deadly spell of 4-35 at Pallekele last week, all the talk ahead of the Super Four clash was around how the Rohit Sharma-led side will face up the challenge from the premier left-arm pacer.
On Sunday, at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Rohit Sharma set the tone for ratting Pakistan, especially Afridi, by flicking him over square leg for a six on the last ball of the opening over. Though the pitch had little movement to offer, Sharma and Gill were positive in their footwork and even danced down the pitch, which reflected in their strokeplay too.
Though Naseem Shah was holding one end tight with his accurate line and length plus some seam movement to trouble Sharma, Gill didn’t let Afridi settle with three scintillating boundaries hit twice off him in two different overs.
Afridi switched to round the wicket angle and sprayed it full, but to no effect as Gill and Sharma executed a successful takedown to stitch a 121-run opening stand. Though Afridi took out Gill later on for 58 while Sharma fell for 56, the attacking approach yielded solid results for India, who amassed 61 runs in the Power-play.
Former India cricketer Abhinav Mukund believes one should be expecting to get anywhere between 65-70 runs in the first ten overs, irrespective of who the bowler is. “Why split it into left and right armers, I believe the approach is great.”
“There will be high-scoring matches during the World Cup in India, so you need a Power-play score of around 65-70. You cannot expect a 50-55 run Power-play, which is still good but you would expect a 65-70 run Power-play most of the time,” said Mukund on JioCinema’s show ‘Insiders Live’.
With Afridi pushed out of the bowling attack initially by Gill’s scintillating onslaught against the new ball, Mukund thinks the left-arm pacer will come back stronger when the game resumes in the reserve day on Monday, with India at 147/2 in 24.1 overs.
“Also, Shaheen Shah Afridi is a quality bowler, he will go back, look at the footage and be like, ‘they are attacking me this way, so let’s get the bouncer out, let’s get the back of the length ball out’. So, it is a cycle, it is going to evolve constantly. He has gone 1-0 earlier, today it is a clear case of 1-1.”&nbsp;

Asia Cup: You would expect a 65-70 run Power-play most of the time, says Abhinav Mukund on Indian openers’ approach

Manila: Germany defeated Serbia 83-77 to clinch its first FIBA Basketball World Cup title here. Dennis Schroder was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.
Schroder, boasting an average of 17.6 points, 6.1 assists, and 2 rebounds throughout the World Cup, delivered a game-high 28 points in the final. Franz Wagner contributed 19 points and seven rebounds, while Johannes Voigtmann added 12 points and eight rebounds, reports Xinhua.
For Serbia, Aleksa Avramovic led the scoring with 21 points, and Bogdan Bogdanovic chipped in with 17 points and five assists. Nikola Milutinov, however, struggled, missing all four of his attempts and ending the game with just two points and four assists.
The Mall of Asia Arena felt like a home game for Serbia, thanks to their passionate fans. However, concerns arose early on when Ognjen Dobric sustained an injury and had to leave the court just three minutes into the game.
Historically, in each of the previous five finals in the 21st century, the team leading at half-time emerged victorious. But Sunday’s final saw both teams tied at 47 points at halftime.
A pivotal moment occurred in the third quarter when a contentious foul was called on Aleksa Avramovic as he attempted to block Schroder’s shot from behind the arc. Capitalizing on it, Germany went on a 9-0 run after Schroder converted two of his three free throws. Serbia faced offensive challenges, scoring only 10 points in the quarter and lagging by 12 points into the final quarter.
Avramovic, however, ignited in the fourth quarter. The 28-year-old guard netted 16 points, helping Serbia reduce the deficit to just three points with 1:21 remaining.
Schroder, demonstrating resilience under pressure, executed a layup and sank two free throws to secure the victory for Germany.
Germany remained undefeated by winning all eight games, and became the fourth European country and seventh overall to win the world crown. It also marked the first time a nation clinched the FIBA World Cup title in its debut in the final since Spain faced Greece in 2006.&nbsp;
