New Delhi (The Hawk): According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research, the national capital's air quality remained "extremely poor" on Wednesday morning (SAFAR).
The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) for Delhi, according to the SAFAR system, was assessed at 329, which is very poor. On the morning of November 9, the amount of Particulate Matter (PM) 2.5 and PM 10 in the air was measured to be 329 under the very poor category and 216 under the very poor and poor categories, respectively. The AQI is classified as "good" between 0 and 50, "acceptable" between 101 and 200, "moderate" between 201 and 300, "poor" between 301 and 400, and "severe" between 401 and 500.
The Delhi government eased several bans on Monday, including the reopening of the primary schools, as a result of the relative improvement in AQI. On Wednesday, the primary schools that had been closed due to the deteriorating air quality in the nation's capital reopened. Additionally, restrictions on secondary school pupils engaging in outdoor activities have been relaxed. However, the AQI in Noida and Gurugram, two cities close to Delhi, remained bleak.
The PM 2.5 concentration in Noida was 380, falling into the very poor category, while the PM 10 concentration was 193, falling into the very poor and moderate categories, respectively. This morning, Gurugram's AQI was estimated to be 336, falling into the very poor category, with PM 2.5 concentrations at 336 and PM 10 concentrations at 187.
