New Delhi (The Hawk): Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Shri Narayan Rane&nbsp;today launched the MSME Sustainable (ZED) Certification Scheme. In his address, the Minister said that ZED has the potential to become a national movement and that it aims to provide a roadmap to global competitiveness for the MSMEs of India. He added that ZED will not only attempt to improve productivity &amp; performance, it has the capability to change the mind-set of manufacturers and make them more environment conscious.This Scheme is an extensive drive to enable and facilitate MSMEs adopt Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED) practices and motivate and incentivize them for ZED Certification while also encouraging them to become MSME Champions. Through the journey of ZED Certification, MSMEs can reduce wastages substantially, increase productivity, enhance environmental consciousness, save energy, optimally use natural resources, expand their markets, etc.Under the Scheme, MSMEs will get subsidy as per the following structure, on the cost of ZED certification:There will be an additional subsidy of 10% for the MSMEs owned by Women/SC/ST Entrepreneurs OR MSMEs in NER/Himalayan/LWE/Island territories/aspirational districts. In addition to above, there will be an additional subsidy of 5% for MSMEs which are also a part of the SFURTI OR Micro &amp; Small Enterprises - Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP) of the Ministry. Further, a limited purpose joining reward of Rs. 10,000/- will be offered to each MSME once they take the ZED PledgeA provision of up to Rs. 5 lakh(per MSME) will be made available for handholding and consultancy support for MSMEs under ZED Certification for assisting them to move towards Zero Defect Zero Effect solutions. The MSMEs can also avail a number of other incentives offered for ZED Certification by States &amp; UTs, Financial Institutions etc. and can also apply for free Certification under the MSME KAWACH (COVID-19 Support) initiative.Shri Rane and Minister of State for MSME, Shri Bhanu Pratap along with the ministry officials also interacted with the principal secretaries and officers of the States/UTs for higher synergy and coordination on policy, promotions and planning for the MSME Sector.&nbsp;Shri Rane, appreciated the commendable efforts undertaken by the States/UTs as they devise various programmes and policies for MSMEs in their region to accomplish the common goal of developing the MSMEs. He also mentioned that “it is imperative to develop the strategic roadmap to increase the outreach of the interventions and fast-track the last mile Entrepreneurship”.The interaction meeting was leveraged for knowledge-sharing, exchange of innovative ideas/information, dissemination of success stories/best practices for the benefit of MSMEs across the nation and also for the mitigation of the issues faced by the States/UTsDuring the session, States/UTs highlighted challenges, assistance required and ideas/ success stories to learn from each other, efforts to amplify the reach of the State’s interventions, leverage Centre Government schemes more effectively to accelerate the State's output and create employment opportunities.Ministry of MSME serves to promote, develop and handhold MSMEs across sectors and States. The Ministry runs more than 20 different schemes such as PMEGP, SFUTI, MSE-CDP, RAMP Scheme, ATI, Udyam Registration, etc. schemes to offer support and strength in the areas of access to finance, market linkages, technology upgradation, capacity building, innovation/ideation and industrial infrastructure development etc.

Addressing the&nbsp;National conference of MSME- Development Institutes, Testing Centres and Technology Centres he said that this conference will contribute in shaping the vision of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat initiated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.&nbsp;In the conference, Shri Rane also launched the second phase of MSME RuPAY Credit Card with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and&nbsp;four banks, viz. Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bank of Baroda, SBM Bank (India) and HDFC Bank. This card will provide a simplified payment mechanism to MSMEs to meet their business&nbsp;related operational expenses.<img src="https://static.pib.gov.in/WriteReadData/userfiles/image/image0024ROC.jpg">&nbsp;Shri Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma, State Minister of MSME graced the occasion.&nbsp;Senior officers of Ministry of MSME and officials of MSME-Development Institutes, Testing Centres, Technology Centres, NPCI and bank executives also attended the conference.&nbsp;The aim of this conference was to have interaction with officials of field offices of Development Commissioner (MSME), Ministry of MSME to chalk out future plans for better implementation and monitoring of MSME schemes and coordination with State Governments and other stake holders for the benefit of the MSMEs. Kolkata:&nbsp;Private lender Bandhan Bank will gradually increase its exposure to secured loans by enhancing advances to the housing and MSME sectors, its Managing Director and CEO Chandra Shekhar Ghosh said. Presently, the bank's exposure to MFI loans, which are unsecured, is 47 per cent, and the share of its advances to the housing segment is at 24 per cent, retail at two per cent and the micro, small and medium enterprises sector at 27 per cent, he said. Ghosh told PTI that "the lender will increase its exposure to secured loans and has set a target to increase disbursements to housing and medium-size MSME loans. Advances to MFIs and small-ticket MSME loans are unsecured". He said that 25 per cent of its MFI loans will be converted to formal MSME advances as the interest rates in the segment are similar to micro-credit or the loans given to self-help groups (SHGs). There will be "no impact on the profitability" of the bank as there is no difference in the interest rates, he said. In the last quarter of the previous fiscal, the bank clocked a net profit of Rs 1,902 crore and there had been no provisioning for bad loans, he said.By 2025, the bank will convert "26 per cent of group loans to joint liability group (JLG) advances, which are micro-credit given to batch of small borrowers". Responding to a query on the expansion of branches in the current fiscal, Ghosh said around 530 banking outlets will be opened across the country, taking the total number to more than 6,000. Recently, the private lender's holding company Bandhan Financial Holdings Ltd diluted 21 per cent of its stake in the banking entity to raise Rs 10,600 crore, out of which Rs 4,500 crore had been utilised to acquire a majority shareholding in IDFC Mutual Fund. Presently, the shareholding of the holding company has decreased to 40 per cent, which is in "conformity" to the regulatory norms, Ghosh said.Earlier, Bandhan Financial Holdings' stake was 82 per cent at the time of the listing of the bank on the stock exchanges, which subsequently decreased to 61 per cent with the acquisition of Gruh Finance. Ghosh said there is no need for a follow-on public offer as the bank is adequately capitalised.—PTI

New Delhi (The Hawk): The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi participated in the ‘Udyami Bharat’ programme today and launched key initiatives like ‘Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance’ (RAMP) scheme, ‘Capacity Building of First-Time MSME Exporters’ (CBFTE) scheme and new features of the ‘Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme’ (PMEGP) to ramp up the MSME sector. He also digitally transferred assistance to beneficiaries of PMEGP for 2022-23; announced results of the MSME Idea Hackathon, 2022; distributed National MSME Awards, 2022; and issued Digital Equity Certificates to 75 MSMEs in the Self Reliant India (SRI) Fund. Union Ministers Shri Narayan Rane and Shri Bhanu Pratap Singh Varma, MSME stakeholders from all over the country, and diplomats from various countries were among those present on the occasion.&nbsp;Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that the efforts of MSME India will be a key driver of Aatmnirbhar Bharat. He said whatever heights the 21st century India will achieve, that will be dependent&nbsp;&nbsp;on the success of the MSME sector. He emphasised that it is important for India’s MSME sector to be strong for increasing India's exports and for India's products to reach new markets. “Our government is taking decisions and making new policies keeping in mind your ability and the immense potential of this sector”, he added. He said that the initiatives launched today and other measures undertaken by the government are linked with the quality and promotion of MSME.The Prime Minister remarked that when we say MSME, it expands in technical language to Micro Small and Medium Enterprises. But these micro, small and medium enterprises are a huge pillar of India's growth journey. The MSME sector accounts for almost one-third of India's economy. Strengthening the MSME sector is strengthening the entire society, making everyone recipient of the benefits of development. That is why this sector is one of the highest priorities of the government, he said.To strengthen the MSME sector, in the last eight years, the Prime Minister said, the government has increased the budget allocation for this by more than 650%. “For us, MSME means - Maximum Support to Micro Small and Medium Enterprises”, the Prime Minister stressed.Noting that more than 11 crore people are connected with the sector, The Prime Minister remarked that MSME is critical for employment generation. During the pandemic, the government decided to save the small enterprises and give them new strength. Under the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme, the central government has ensured Rs 3.5 lakh crore for MSMEs, he said. As per a report, this resulted in saving about 1.5 crore jobs, the Prime Minister informed. He said that MSME is a major medium for achieving the pledges of ‘Amrit Kaal’ of India’s independence.Shri Modi recalled a time when earlier governments did not recognize the importance of the sector and shackled the sector by adopting policies that kept the small enterprise small. To address this, the definition of MSME was changed. The Prime Minister said if any industry wants to grow and expand, then the government is not only supporting it but is also making necessary changes in the policies. The Prime Minister pointed out that in GeM, MSME has got a very strong platform to provide goods and services to the government. He asked every MSME to get registered on the GeM portal. Similarly, prohibiting global tenders for projects worth less than 200 crore will also help the MSME.The Prime Minister said that the government is taking measures to help MSME in increasing exports. The Indian Mission abroad has been told to work on this. The Prime Minister said that the Missions are being evaluated on three parameters i.e. trade, technology and tourism.The Prime Minister said that Pradhanmantri Rozgar Srijan Karykram was revamped after 2014 as it was not able to achieve its goals in the period between 2008-2012. Since 2014, more than 40 lakh jobs have been created under this programme. During this period 14 thousand crore rupees worth of margin money subsidy was provided to these enterprises. Cost limit for products falling in this scheme has also been increased, he informed.Talking about inclusive development, the Prime Minister said that trans-gender entrepreneurs are being provided with all help to realize their goals.The Prime Minister noted that now for the first time, the turnover of Khadi and Village Industries has crossed Rs 1 lakh crore. “This has been possible because our small entrepreneurs in the villages and our sisters have worked very hard. Khadi sales have increased 4 times in the last 8 years”.The Prime Minister said that difficulty in getting loans without guarantees was a major obstacle for the vulnerable sections of the society to pursue the path of entrepreneurship.&nbsp;After 2014, it was decided to enlarge the ambit of entrepreneurship through Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas. Mudra Yojana, he said, has a huge role to play in making entrepreneurship easy for every Indian. This scheme of bank loans without guarantee has created a large section of women entrepreneurs, Dalit, backward, tribal entrepreneurs in the country. So far, about Rs 19 lakh crore has been given as a loan under this scheme. Among the borrowers, there are about 7 crore such entrepreneurs, who have started an enterprise for the first time, who have become new entrepreneurs, he added. He also noted that on Udyam Portal too, more than 18 percent of those registered are women entrepreneurs. “This inclusiveness in entrepreneurship, this economic inclusion is social justice in the true sense”, he said.The Prime Minister concluded by saying “Today, through this program, I assure all my brothers and sisters associated with the MSME sector that the government is committed to making policies that meet your needs and walk pro-actively with you. Every accomplishment of an entrepreneurial India will lead us towards a self-reliant India. I believe in you and in your ability.‘Udyami Bharat’ is reflective of the continuous commitment of the government, right from day one, to work towards the empowerment of MSMEs. The government has launched several initiatives from time to time like MUDRA Yojana, Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme, Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) etc. to provide necessary and timely support to the MSME sector, which has helped benefit crores of people across the country.‘Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance’ (RAMP) scheme with an outlay of around Rs 6000 crore, aims to scale up the implementation capacity and coverage of MSMEs in the States, with impact enhancement of existing MSME schemes. It will complement the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan by fostering innovation, encouraging ideation, incubating new business and entrepreneurship by developing quality standards, improving practices and processes, enhancing market access, deploying technological tools and Industry 4.0 to make MSMEs competitive and self-reliant.‘Capacity Building of First-Time MSME Exporters’ (CBFTE) scheme aims to encourage MSMEs to offer products and services of international standards for the global market. This will enhance the participation of Indian MSMEs in the global value chain and help them realise their export potential.New features of the ‘Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme’ (PMEGP) include an increase in the maximum project cost to Rs 50 lakhs (from Rs 25 lakhs) for the manufacturing sector and Rs 20 lakhs (from Rs 10 lakhs) in the service sector and inclusion of applicants from Aspirational districts &amp; Transgenders in the Special Category applicants for availing higher subsidies. Also, handholding support is being provided to applicants/entrepreneurs through the engagement of banking, technical &amp; marketing experts.MSME Idea Hackathon, 2022 was aimed at promoting and supporting the untapped creativity of individuals, promoting the adoption of the latest technologies and innovation among MSMEs. The selected incubatee ideas will be provided funding support of up to Rs. 15 lakhs per approved idea.National MSME Awards 2022 is a recognition of the contributions of MSMEs, States/UTs, Aspirational Districts and Banks for their outstanding performance in the growth and development of India’s dynamic MSME sector.

PM Modi Participates In ‘Udyami Bharat’ Programme

New Delhi (The Hawk): With an objective to further enhance India’s existing manufacturing prowess in the Pharmaceuticals Industry, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals &amp; Fertilizers, Govt of India is planning to roll out a series of initiatives under the banner of Schemes for ‘Strengthening Pharmaceuticals Industry’ (SPI). Keeping in view the strategic role of MSMEs, who provide important forward and backward linkages to the industry, and also keeping in view that MSMEs tend to grow in clusters, these schemes shall address the issues of technology upgradation at both unit level and cluster level.In order to strengthen the supply chain of Pharmaceuticals industry where MSMEs are an integral part, Govt of India shall be incentivizing the intending MSME units going in for acquiring Schedule M certification or WHO GMP Certification through the sub-scheme Pharmaceuticals Industry Technology Upgradation Assistance Scheme (PTUAS). The MSME unit shall have the option to choose from either Capital subsidy or Interest subvention. At the cluster level, the sub-scheme ‘Assistance to Pharmaceuticals Industry for Common Facilities’ (APICF) envisages to support creation of common facilities like Testing Labs, Common Effluent Treatment plants and other such common facilities by providing Govt support in the form of capital grant to the extent of up to 70 per cent subject to a ceiling of a maximum of Rs. 20 crore. In order to plug the knowledge gap, the third sub-scheme proposes to conduct a series of awareness programs, conduct sectoral studies and organize similar such programs to generate soft inputs for policy advocacy.&nbsp;These initiatives are formally getting unveiled by Union Minister of Chemicals &amp; Fertilizers and Health &amp; Family Welfare Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, on July 21, 2022 at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar International Convention Centre. MoS for Chemicals &amp; Fertilizers Shri Bhagwanth Khuba shall also be gracing the occasion. Senior officials from Department of Chemicals &amp; Fertilizers, Ministry of MSME, SIDBI, NSIC, Banks besides representatives of Industry, entrepreneurs, Start Ups etc.

Chandigarh: Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Tuesday said the state government will also promote the textile industry through MSMEs so that more and more youth can get employment.For this, Haryana Atmanirbhar Textile Policy 2022 will be implemented soon.The Deputy Chief Minister gave this information after a meeting held in New Delhi to discuss the draft prepared for the policy.Earlier, Chautala presided over a meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee regarding the draft of Haryana's proposed policy in New Delhi.Haryana Agriculture Minister Jai Prakash Dalal and Labour and Employment Minister Anoop Dhanak were also present at the meeting.The Deputy Chief Minister said the policy draft has been thoroughly discussed by the Cabinet Sub-Committee. "Now this policy will be placed before the Cabinet for approval. This policy, prepared for the time period till 2025, is expected to invest about Rs 4,000 crore and provide employment to 20,000 youth," he said.In the meeting various goals of Haryana Atmanirbhar Textile Policy such as entrepreneurship expansion, investment, employment generation, grants, textile parks and other relevant topics were discussed.The meeting also discussed the National Technical Textiles Mission. He said under this policy, technical textiles will be specially encouraged and expanded.Promotion of synthetic fiber and regenerated fiber units has also been included in the policy.Chautala said in the last few years investors are coming forward to set up industries as the state government has taken several major steps to improve the industrial-environment due to which Prime Minister Narendra Modi awarded Haryana for its remarkable work done in the field of MSME.In this field, where the state has got the third position at the national level, Haryana has been ranked in the top achievers category in the fifth edition of State Ease of Doing Business released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, which is a matter of pride for the state, he added. —IANS

Following the adoption of the revised definition of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) on 26th&nbsp;June, 2020, which is based on investment in plant &amp; machinery or equipment; and turnover, the Udyam Registration Portal was launched on 1st&nbsp;July, 2020. The revised definition did away with the distinction between manufacturing and services enterprises. The Udyam Portal is linked to the databases of CBDT and GSTN. It is fully online, does not require any documentation, and is a step towards Ease of Doing Business for MSMEs.&nbsp;Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister for MSME Shri Narayan Rane and MoS Shri Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma highlighted the need for Udyam registrations and underscored its utility as an identity for MSMEs to avail benefits of schemes for Ministry of MSME and for Priority Sector Lending of banks. New Delhi (The Hawk): Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science &amp; Technology; Minister of State (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today called for linking Start-Ups with Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector and said that the Government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking all measures including necessary policy changes to strengthen the MSME.
Addressing the 8th India International MSME &amp; StartUp Summit and Expo, as chief guest, Dr Jitendra Singh said, this sector has played an important role in shaping the Atma Nirbhar Bharat and added that the government has substantially increased the budget in the last eight years to strengthen the MSME sector. The Minister also informed that the government is encouraging unique local products to reach the global markets and, in the process, strengthening the Indian economy.
Dr Jitendra Singh reminded the audience about the commitment of the Modi government for making MSMEs globally competitive and quoted Prime Minister’s Independence Day Address delivered on 15th of this month as saying, “I also call upon the private sector to come forward. We have to dominate the world. One of the dreams of a self-reliant India is to ensure that India does not lag behind in fulfilling the needs of the world. Even if it is the MSMEs we have to take our products to the world with 'Zero Defect - Zero Effect'. We have to be proud of Swadeshi”.
Referring to the introductory remarks of Rajnish Goenka, Chairman, MSME-DF, wherein he said that the MSMEs account for almost one-third of India’s economy and over 11 crore people are connected with the sector, Dr Jitendra Singh said, even the Union Budget 2022-23 has presented a comprehensive package of policy announcements aimed at supporting the recovery of MSME, hit hard by COVID pandemic. Dwelling on the theme of India@100, Amrit Kaal-Opportunities for Youth, Dr Jitendra Singh said, today Indian youth is impatient to turn their dreams into ideas and ideas into reality and the launch of Startup India in 2015 by Prime Minister Modi had opened floodgates of opportunities for them. The Minister also gave the example of the Purple Revolution in Jammu and Kashmir, which transformed the lives of farming community beyond imagination by adopting to highly remunerative lavender cultivation.
Dr Jitendra Singh was pleasantly surprised to find huge number of Agri MSME stalls and pointed out that a new wave of Agritech start-ups has emerged in the country in the last few years and these start-ups are solving problems related to supply chain management, improper infrastructure and inability of farmers to access a wider range of markets. He also said that young entrepreneurs are now quitting their jobs in the IT sector and MNCs to establish their own startups, as these young entrepreneurs are now beginning to realise that investing in agriculture is one of the very few safe and profitable businesses.
Dr. Jitendra Singh concluded by saying that one can't visualise India @2047 through the prism of 2022. He said, Narender Modi’s 8 years as Prime Minister gave India vision for 2047 and laid the roadmap for the next 25 years of Amrit Kal which would witness the ascent of India as a front-rank nation in the world.

Mumbai: In a shocker for Union MSME Minister Narayan Rane, the Bombay High Court ordered the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation to demolish '300 per cent illegal portions' in a bungalow belonging to his family's company within two weeks, here on Tuesday. A division bench of Justice R.D. Dhanuka and Justice Kamal Khata also imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on the company while dismissing a plea seeking directions to the BMC to consider a second application for regula-risation of the unau-thorised constructions in its Juhu bungalow.
The court also declined a plea by the petitioner company - Kaalkaa Real Estates Pvt. Ltd's lawyer Shardul Singh for a 6-week stay on the demolition order to enable them to approach the Supreme Court.
In March this year, when the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi was in power, the BMC had served a notice to KREPL ordering it to remove the alleged illegal works of around 300 per cent on its premises within 15 days or face demolition and recovery of charges.
The KREPL had challenged the notice and after the MVA government was toppled, filed a fresh application to the BMC for regularisation on various grounds, which has been rejected.
Making strong observations, the court said that the BMC cannot be allowed to take steps inconsistent with the SC judgements and statutory provisions.
"If application for retention is allowed irrespective, then that would lead to encouragement of wholesale construction over reaching the idea of allowing retention. Admittedly the petitioners have construction three times above the permissible limit," said the judges. Justice Dhanuka and Justice Khata while rejecting the KREPL's second application for regularisation, said it would amount to encouraging of "large-scale violation within the city of Mumbai without any concern for the statutory provisions". After a series of legal developments, the court had queried whether such a second application would be maintainable under the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, though the BMC -- which had earlier refused to regularise the illegal portions -- later appeared 'hell-bent' on considering it.—IANS

Kanpur: The Uttar Pradesh government will not withdraw the two criminal cases registered against the state's MSME Minister Rakesh Sachan, Kanpur District Magistrate Vishakh G. Iyer announced.
The state government had earlier sought a report on 18 points from the district administration for withdrawal of all four cases against Sachan.
"The government sought a report on withdrawing four cases against MSME minister Rakesh Sachan. The prosecution and police have not recommended withdrawal in two cases and the entire report has been sent to the government," Iyer said.
The four cases against the Minister were pending with the special judge of the MP/MLA court.
In one case, Sachan was convicted by a lower court and he has appealed in the session court.
He was convicted in June this year and sentenced to one-year imprisonment along with a penalty of Rs 1,500 in a case involving possession of an illegal firearm.
Sachan was accused of running away along with the order file from the court and the judge had ordered lodging of an FIR with the Kotwali police.
Similarly, two cases were lodged with Gwaltoli police when he was a student leader at DAV College.
While the fourth case was lodged in 2007 after he was found possessing an illegal gun by the Kotwali police during a procession to file a nomination.
The prosecution in its report said there was a possibility of conviction in two cases while he had already been convicted in another case.
The report in the fourth case was yet to come, said officials.&nbsp;

New Delhi (The Hawk): The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) on Monday emphasised the importance of demand-side perspectives in the transition to clean energy of crucial sectors and the need for inclusive global clean energy transition mechanisms that go beyond the context of coal. India is set to assume the G20 presidency this year.
TERI listed agriculture, micro, small, and medium-sized companies (MSMEs), and transportation as the key sectors.
Energy transitions, which are essential to attaining sustainable development and climate goals, have recently been predominately focused on "just transitions" in the coal industry, with a strong emphasis on energy supply and mitigation components.
Since COP26, just transitions have gained steam in the conversation about climate change and will also be a top goal for the COP27 Presidency.
"Inclusive Energy Transitions: Messages for the G20 Forum," a policy brief Analysis of the three energy and carbon-intensive sectors of agriculture, MSMEs, and transport in G20 nations, produced by TERI as part of its Act4Earth SDG Charter initiative, highlights the need for the G20 forum to support consensus building and spur the push for normative shifts to bring more attention to the energy demand aspects of the three sectors.
It also draws attention to the lack of gender inclusion policies in the G20 nations' MSMEs, agricultural, and transportation sectors.
Ajay Shankar, Distinguished Fellow at TERI and former Secretary of the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, commented on the urgent need to close the gaps, saying: "The G20 consume over 70% of global energy, and as India takes over the G20 Presidency at the end of the year, it would have the responsibility of shaping a consensus on not only a faster energy transition but also on it being just and inclusive, especially from a gender perspective."
According to him, the TERI report argues that the energy transition agenda for the transportation, MSMEs, and agricultural sectors must take a comprehensive approach.
The importance of including supply and demand views in energy systems was emphasised by Shailly Kedia, Senior Fellow and Associate Director at TERI. The G20 can push for global indicator frameworks on SDGs to record and monitor energy demand-side indicators as well as gender disaggregated data. Markets on just transitions of energy systems should take energy demand into account rather than only supply.
At the COP27, the conversation about just transitions must include both adaptation and inclusive energy demand interventions. She stated that transitions must be "fair" and "inclusive."
The emphasis on energy production and mitigation, she continued, "is not consistent with the values of fairness and climate justice."
The EU and G20 nations consumed more than one-third of the world's energy (71.6 percent in 2019). The policy brief emphasises the need to concentrate on demand-side policy interventions during India's G20 Presidency through the special working group on energy transitions under the Sherpa track, despite the focus being biassed toward the supply-side.
It states that when it comes to inclusive energy transitions and bolstering the priority regions, India can take on a normative leadership position in energy demand side management domains.

Fatehpur: UP's MSME minister Rakesh Sachan is the proud owner of 72 plots.
Thirty-two plots have been allotted in Mini Industrial Estate Chakhta and 40 in Mini Industrial Estate Sudhwapur in the name of Innovative Service Institute -Rakesh Sachan.
Satyendra Singh, President of Laghu Udyog Bharti, Fatehpur, has sent a written complaint to the Director Industries in Kanpur.
The allotments were made in 2012-13 and the minimum 10 per cent security money to be paid against these allotments has also not been deposited so far. Nor was any industrial unit set up in the plots.
According to Anjneesh Pratap Singh, general manager of Industries Department in Fatehpur, the allotment amount has not been deposited.
A survey of industrial plots was carried out in the districts for setting up industries during the Investors Summit when this came to light.
Satyendra Singh, in a letter sent to the Commissioner and Director Industries, has alleged that there are eight industrial areas in Fatehpur. There are total 36 plots in Chakhta Mini Industrial Area. Of these, 32 have been allotted to Sachan. All the 32 plots (number 1 to 17 and 22 to 36) are in the name of one person-- Rakesh Sachan. The address is unknown.
Similarly, 40 out of 45 plots of Mini Industrial Estate, Sudhwapur have been allotted. All the 40 plots (number 1 to 40) are in the name of Rakesh Sachan and the address is unknown. The name of the industry or purpose established in these plots has been described as Training and Social Service Institute. Rakesh Sachan, now a minister in UP, was the Member of Parliament from Fatehpur between 2009 and 2014 on a Samajwadi Party ticket. Rakesh Sachan is the chairman of Abhinav Seva Sansthan.
He said that in 2012, two of his organisations were allotted plots, but could not be developed. "I am the minister of this department. It has been decided that the allotment of plots should be cancelled. There was no facility here at the time of allotment. Soon the plot will be allotted to another industrialist and facilities of road, electricity and water will be developed here," he said.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

New Delhi (The Hawk): The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) under the Ministry of Communications has offered the usage of 5G Test Bed free of cost to the Start-ups and MSMEs recognised by the Government of India up to January 2024. All 5G stakeholders i.e. Industry, Academia, Service Providers, R&amp;D Institutions, Govt. Bodies, Equipment Manufacturers etc. can utilise this facility at a very nominal rate. This is being announced in order to encourage usage of the Test Bed and give a fillip to the development of indigenous technologies/ products in line with ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ vision. Several start-ups and companies are already using the Test Bed for testing their products and services.
In March, 2018, keeping in view India’s specific requirements and to take lead in 5G deployment, the Department of Telecommunications approved financial grant for the multi-institute collaborative project to set up ‘Indigenous 5G Test Bed’ in India with total cost of Rs.224 Crore. The eight collaborating institutes in the project were IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IISc Bangalore, Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering &amp; Research (SAMEER) and Centre of Excellence in Wireless Technology (CEWiT). The Indigenous 5G Test Bed was dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minster, Shri Narendra Modi on May 17th 2022. A web based portal (https://user.cewit.org.in/5gtb/index.jsp) has also been designed for access and usage of the Test Bed.
The 5G Test Bed is available at five locations viz., Integrated Test Bed at CEWiT/ IIT Madras and other Test Beds are at IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Kanpur and IISc Bangalore. CEWiT/ IIT Madras offers end to end Test Bed with various testing services for RAN Level, PHY Level etc. and other Test equipments. IIT Hyderabad has facilities for gNB Testing, UE Testing, end to end interoperability testing and NB-IoT testing, while IISC Bangalore hosts the V2X and 5G open-source testbed, IIT Kanpur hosts the base-band Test Bed and IIT Delhi hosts the NB-IoT and VLC Test Bed.
The end-to-end test bed is compliant with the global 3GPP standard and the ORAN standard. Indigenous 5G Test Bed provides an open 5G test bed that enables R&amp;D teams of Indian academia and industry to validate their products, prototypes, algorithms and demonstrate various services. Further, it provides complete access for research teams to work on novel concepts/ideas holding potential for standardization in India and on global scale. It provides the facilities of 5G networks for experimenting and demonstrating applications/use cases of importance to Indian society like rural broadband, smart city applications and intelligent transport system (ITS) and shall help to Indian operators to understand the working of 5G technologies and plan their future networks.
The development of this Indigenous Test Bed is a key milestone step for India’s becoming self-reliant in the 5G Technology domain and now leading towards 5G Aatmanirbhar Bharat. This Test Bed is providing the Indigenous capability for testing and validation of 5G products being developed and manufactured by Indian start-ups, MSME, R&amp;D, Academia and industry users. This has resulted in huge cost efficiency and reduced design time due to which Indian 5G products are likely to become market competitive globally.
The development of this Test Bed has also resulted into development of many 5G Technologies/ IPs which are available for technology transfer to Industry players which shall facilitate the Industry Players for smooth and speedy deployment of 5G in India.

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday launched a 15-day registration campaign for Micro, Small and Medium Entreprises (MSMEs) in all 75 districts across the state, according to an official statement from the Chief Minister office.
This campaign will be conducted in the entire state till June 15.
The campaign aims at covering around 14 lakh such MSMEs that are not yet registered with the MSME Udyam portal, and providing them all the benefits of the schemes of the state government.
There are more than 90 lakh active MSMEs in the state, but only 14 lakh are registered, says the MSME and Export Promotion department of the state government.
A large number of active MSMEs need to be registered to avail benefits of all schemes of the state government as all these units contribute directly or indirectly to the state's GDP. "The Directorate of Industries will organize camps for the registration of MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) in each district. Additionally, the MSMEs themselves can also register by visiting the portal. All eligible MSMEs will be eligible for registration," the statement said.
The objective is to provide a platform for the active MSMEs in the state to so that they can benefit from the schemes implemented by the Yogi government for MSMEs.
According to officials from the MSME and Export Promotion Department, there are more than 90 lakh active MSMEs in Uttar Pradesh, but only 14 lakh MSMEs are registered on the portal so far, while there are a large number of active MSMEs in the state that need to be registered to avail the benefits of government schemes.
The state government has set a target to get all these enterprises registered, for which the campaign has been launched simultaneously in all districts of the state from June 1 to June 15.
Notably, many MSME units are spread across the unorganized sector. With the commencement of this campaign, these units will be able to avail the benefits of government schemes and other facilities through registration on a large scale.
The Yogi government intends for more and more MSMEs to be registered on the portal and can take advantage of schemes related to MSMEs. Registration provides these MSMEs with an identity that is crucial for operating their enterprises. Additionally, there is a provision for a facilitation council to resolve payment-related disputes, which will benefit only registered MSMEs.
The greatest relief is the accessibility of accident insurance of up to Rs 5 lakh for micro-entrepreneurs, which can be provided after obtaining approval from the cabinet. By highlighting all these benefits, non-registered MSMEs are being encouraged to register.
"In the micro-enterprise category, those with an investment of up to Rs 1 crore and a turnover of up to Rs 5 crore will be registered. Under the small enterprise category, eligible enterprises will have an investment of up to Rs 10 crore and a turnover of up to Rs 50 crore. Similarly, in the medium category, enterprises with an investment of up to Rs 50 crore and a turnover of up to Rs 250 crore will be able to register," the statement said. As per the government, the registration can avail free insurance coverage up to Rs 5 lakh under the soon-to-be-implemented accident insurance scheme. —ANI

New Delhi (The Hawk): “It is important for MSME Pharma Cos. to be alert to quality of drugs and expeditiously move towards Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP) through self regulation”. This was stated by Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Chemicals &amp; Fertilizers, and Health &amp; Family Welfare as he met representatives from Pharma Companies from the MSME sector, here today. Strongly stressing the need for self regulation in the MSME pharma sector, the Union Minister underscored its importance for India to maintain the status of ‘Pharmacy of the World’. “Our global position in the pharmaceutical sector is created through the quality of our products. We must undertake all possible steps to ensure that we strengthen this position in terms of value and quality. Hence, the role of self regulation becomes critical”, he stated. Basis Industry’s assurance, a major decision taken today, Schedule M shall be made compulsory for the MSME pharma sector in a phased manner. “This will help in quality assurance and also reduce compliance burden’, the Union Minister said. Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has directed the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) to take stringent action against all pharmaceutical manufacturing companies that make spurious drugs. “There shall be no compromise with the quality of drugs manufactured in India”, he emphasized. Highlighting that the Government has zero tolerance towards manufacturers not adhering to quality compliance and making spurious medicines, he stated that special squads have been formed to inspect drugs making companies and stringent actions has been taken. The Union Minister further stated that in order to ensure the highest quality of pharma products, the regulatory authorities have started risk-based inspection and audit of plants. He stated that 137 firms were inspected, and action has been taken against 105 firms. Production has been stopped at 31 firms and Cancellation &amp; Suspension of Product/Section Licenses have been issued against 50 firms. In addition, show cause notice has been issued to 73 firms, and warning letters have been issued against 21 firms.  Ms. S. Aparna, Secretary (Pharma), Dr Rajeev Raghuvanshi, DCGI and senior officers from Deptt. attended the meeting. Mandaviya Directs Drug Regulator To Act Against Spurious Drugs Makers

New Delhi / Lucknow (The Hawk): In view to create an enabling environment for nurturing Industrial Research and developing innovative products and processes among Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) has been implementing a scheme that supports creation of Common Research and Technology Development Hubs (CRTDHs). The CRTDHs are dedicated for use by MSMEs. DSIR has established 18 CRTDHs across the country in five sectors, namely, Electronics/Renewable Energy, Affordable Health, Environmental interventions, Low cost machining and New materials / Chemical Processes. The CRTDHs set up across the country aim to enhance productivity, increase the innovative skills of MSMEs and help them to become globally competitive and generate employment. The CRTDHs promote and lead towards indigenous development of products and services that strengthen the momentum for “Vocal for Local” and “Atma Nirbhar Bharat” through the DSIR-CRTDHs. DSIR has planned to organize “Chintan Shivir-CRTDHs Empowering MSMEs” at all the 18 CRTDHs in order to strengthen the interaction between the CRTDHs and MSMEs/Start-ups/innovators. The first "Chintan Shivir" in this series was successfully organized on 27th July, 2023 at DSIR-CRTDH set up at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur). The thematic sessions will focus on the overview of futuristic technology interventions at CRTDH-IITR, Lucknow by Director, CSIR-IITR, Lucknow followed by brief on activities of CRTDH at IITR, Lucknow by Dr. Parthasarathi to explore MSME Connect &amp; Opportunities. A breakout session among MSMEs to brainstorm on challenges faced by them followed by short presentation will be conducted. These discussions will lead to a “Samvad” for identifying Grand Challenges of MSMEs/Startups/Innovators and addressing possible solutions from the CRTDH. Inauguration Of Chintan Shivir On 'CRTDHs Empowering MSMEs' At CRTDH-Indian Institute Of Toxicology, Lucknow August 24

New Delhi (The Hawk): DSIR-CRTDH-IITR, Lucknow organised a day long second "Chintan Shivir on CRTDHs Empowering MSMEs" under Common Research and Technology Development Hub (CRTDH) programme of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology. The goal of this Chintan Shivir was to fortify relationships between academics and industry by stressing that this cooperation plays an important in promoting industrial R&amp;D and fostering a culture that strengthens information sharing, collaborative research, and technical innovation. The CRTDH promotes R&amp;D operations in the nation and offers extensive support and guidance and hence plays a crucial role in bolstering the MSME sector, encouraging a growth-friendly climate, and advancing technological breakthroughs to achieve long cherished goal of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, Secretary, DSIR and Director General, Council of Scientific &amp; Industrial Research (CSIR), Dr. Bhaskar Narayan, Director, Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (IITR), Lucknow and Dr. Sujata Chaklanobis, Head-CRTDH, DSIR spoke during the Chintan Shivir's inaugural session. Dr. N. Kalaiselvi stressed the importance of DSIR and CRTDHs in enabling MSMEs, startups, and innovators to carry out the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision of creating "Atmanirbhar Bharat" in her remarks at the opening ceremony. Dr. Bhaskar Narayan praised DSIR-CRTDH-IITR, Lucknow's efforts to assist diverse stakeholders in completing their R&amp;D projects. Dr. Sujata Chaklanobis gave an overview of Chintan Shivir, she emphasized the need for innovation and asserted that MSMEs, as a key component of the innovation ecosystem, can significantly contribute in building India as a hub for R&amp;D and manufacturing on a global scale. On this occasion, Dr. Sujata Chaklanobis and Dr. Bhaskar Narayan inaugurated the DSIR-CRTDH-IITR facility at the Technology Development and Innovation Centre and launched the updated version of the DSIR-IITR-CRTDH website. Two MoUs with DSIR-CRTDH-IITR and MSMEs were signed. The Director of the CSIR-IITR, Lucknow provided an overview of futuristic technology interventions at DSIR-CRTDH-IITR and highlighted importance of synergy between academia and MSMEs during the thematic sessions. Dr. Parthasarathi and Dr. B Sreekanth provided a briefing on the activities carried out under DSIR-IITR-CRTDH and its efforts to explore opportunities for MSMEs. Participants from the MSMEs/Start-ups/innovators were divided into five groups to brainstorm on challenges faced by them in perusing their R&amp;D goals followed by a brief presentation on it. Thematic session was continued to "Samvad" which was coordinated by Dr. Vipin C. Shukla, Scientist-F, DSIR. During ‘Samvad’, major difficulties faced by MSMEs, startups, and innovators were discussed and potential solutions were addressed by the PI, DSIR-CRTDH-IITR, Lucknow. The event was attended by senior officers Dr Ranjeet Bairwa and Dr Kailash Petkar from DSIR along entire team of DSIR-CRTDH-IITR. Large number of representatives from Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), start-ups, UP state district resource persons, individual innovators, and delegates from the Chambers of Commerce, industry associations, Assocham also participated in this important event to get the benefits of CRTDH in their R&amp;D endeavors. Finally, Dr. Kailash C. New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday shared a video of his visit to Moddy's Chocolates in Ooty, saying it is a remarkable testament of the great potential of the India's MSMEs and creating industrial hubs and implementing a single GST rate stand as imperative measures to shield these MSMEs, which collectively possess the power to drive India's growth engine.  In a tweet, Rahul Gandhi said, "A team of 70 incredible women drives one of Ooty’s famous chocolate factories. The story of Moddy's Chocolates is a remarkable testament to the great potential of India's MSMEs."  He also shared the link of his visit to the chocolate factory.   The Congress leader said that nestled amidst the picturesque Nilgiris lies a globally renowned Indian industry - the chocolate-makers of Ooty.  "On my way to Wayanad, recently, I had the delightful experience of visiting one of Ooty's most celebrated brands: Moddy's Chocolates," he said.  He also said that the entrepreneurial spirit of the couple, Muralidhar Rao and Swati, behind this small business, is inspiring.  "Equally remarkable is the all-women team which works alongside them. This dedicated team of 70 women crafts some of the most exquisite couverture chocolates I've ever tasted," he said.  Targeting the government over the Goods and Services Tax (GST), he said, "However, like countless other small and medium businesses across India, Moddy's is grappling with the burden of the same adversary - the Gabbar Singh Tax.
