Mumbai: The shoot of Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan-starrer action film Vikram Vedha has been completed, the makers said on Friday. Billed as an edge-of-the-seat action crime thriller, the movie is based on the popular Indian folktale "Vikram aur Betal". It tells the story of a tough police officer (Khan) who sets out to track down and hunt a menacing gangster (Roshan). The upcoming Hindi movie is a remake of 2017 Tamil blockbuster of the same name, which starred R Madhavan as a cop and Vijay Sethupathi as a gangster. Filmmaker duo Pushkar and Gayatri, who helmed the original film, have directed the Hindi version as well. Roshan said he had to break out of the mould of being the hero and step into a new territory to play the role of Vedha.Becoming Vedha was unlike anything I've ever done before. I had to break the mould of being the 'hero' and step into a completely unexplored territory as an actor. The journey felt like I was graduating. My relentless directors Pushkar &amp; Gayatri kept me on a treadmill, silently motivating me to push boundaries, the 48-year-old actor said in a statement. Roshan credited co-star Khan and Yogita Bihani for bringing out the best in him. Looking back I became the Vedha that I did, because of the powerful presence of Saif Ali Khan as Vikram. Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh ATS has arrested one Saifullah for his alleged links with Jaish-e-Mohammad.
Saifullah was arrested from Kanpur on Sunday on a tip off provided by Mohammad Nadeem, who was arrested by the ATS from Saharanpur on Friday.
According to an official release, Saifullah, also known as Habib-ul-Islam, is an expert in making virtual IDs, and he had made over 50 virtual IDs for terrorists in Pakistan and Afghanistan on WhatsApp, Telegram and Facebook.
He used to send audio messages related to Jihad from these platforms.
Saifullah is now being interrogated by various agencies.&nbsp;

Saifai: The air reverberated with chants of 'Netaji amar rahein', emotions ran high and the surging crowds broke down barricades as the mortal remains of Samajwadi patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav were consigned to flames in his native village Saifai on Tuesday.
The last rites were performed by Samajwadi president Akhilesh Yadav, who lit the pyre in an emotionally surcharged atmosphere.
The body of the socialist leader was kept at his residence till this morning when it was shifted to a specially erected pandal where people came to pay their respects.
Around 2.p.m , the mortal remains of the leader were shifted to the cremation site where the last rites were performed with full state honours.
Huge crowds were seen in Saifai and all roads were completely blocked as people jostled with each other for a glimpse of the late leader.
Mulayam Singh's younger brother Shivpal Yadav repeatedly appealed to the people to maintain order and allow the traffic movement.
Several VIPs had to leave their cars and walk to the venue.
Almost every SP leader, worker, legislator and member from all corners of the state was seen in Saifai to offer tributes to the late leader. Several Uttar Pradesh ministers, including deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, Suresh Khanna, Jitin Prasad were seen offering floral tributes to the late leader. The Yadav clan stood together in their hour of grief. Akhilesh, Shivpal and Dharmendra Yadav broke down several times and were seen consoling each other. Senior SP leader Mohd Azam Khan, despite poor health, also came to Saifai late last night to pay respects to his long-time friend and associate.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, NCP leaders Sharad Pawar, Praful Patel and Supriya Sule, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Kamal Nath, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Bihar deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav, Union Minister S.P. Singh Baghel, Congress MPs Mallikarjun Kharge, Pramod Tiwari were among those present.
Reliance chairman Anil Ambani, a close friend of the Yadav clan, was present. SP MP Jaya Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan were also present.
Earlier in the day, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu arrived in Saifai and termed the loss as 'irreparable'. RLD president Jayant Chaudhary and BJP MP Varun Gandhi were also present. It was an emotional moment when Varun hugged Akhilesh and spoke to him briefly. Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev accompanied the mortal remains of Mulayam Singh to the cremation site.

Mainpuri (The Hawk): During her treatment at the Saifai Medical College hospital in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, the 15-year-old rape victim who was allegedly raped by a relative and then set on fire passed away from her burn injuries, according to the police. The alleged rapist was the victim's uncle.
The girl was sexually assaulted by a relative who resides in the same hamlet as the victim about three months ago, according to the police.
Her mother took her to a community health centre on October 6 after she began complaining of pain in her stomach. There, the physician determined that she was pregnant after examining her.
When the mother of the victim brought up the issue with the mother and sister of the accused, they promised to get the girl married to the alleged rapist and took the girl with them. When the mother of the victim brought this up with them, the mother and sister of the accused volunteered to do this.
The incident allegedly took place in the late evening of October 8 and involved the accused lighting the girl on fire with gasoline.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Kamlesh Dixit stated that the girl was brought to a community health centre hospital, and from there, due to the severity of her burn injuries, she was sent to the Saifai Medical College.
According to statements made by the victim's parents to members of the media, the accused had been making threats against them, and they felt they had no choice but to cremate their daughter in Etawah on Monday rather than in the hamlet where they live.
The Superintendent of Police stated that the police had apprehended the accused as well as his mother, but the accused's sister, who is suspected of being involved in the crime, is still at large.

Lucknow (The Hawk): Adipurush, a Bollywood film, has been requested to be banned in a plea filed with the Allahabad High Court's Lucknow division.
Before the division bench of Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Renu Agarwal, attorney Ranjana Agnihotri listed the offensive elements of the film while speaking on behalf of the petitioner Kuldeep Tiwari.
Agnihotri requested a ban on the film, which would be released on January 12 of next year, citing the inappropriate material in the previously published teaser.
In court appearance on behalf of the Union government, attorney Ashwani Singh claimed that the petitioner had named the Center, the State, the Censor Board, Om Raut, the director of the film, as well as actors Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, and Kriti Menon in the complaint.
The hearing's next date has not yet been determined.
Early this month, a petition was submitted to a Delhi court asking for an injunction to prevent the release of the upcoming film on the grounds that its promotional trailer depicts Hindu gods in a "unwarranted" and "inaccurate" manner.
In his Friday filing, attorney Raj Gaurav argued that the defendants, producer Bhushan Kumar and director and co-producer Om Raut, had falsified key elements of the epic Ramayana and demanded a permanent and binding injunction against them.
The plea alleged that the defendants had offended the plaintiff and other Hindus' religious, cultural, historical, and civilizational sentiments by inaccurately and unjustifiably portraying the Hindu deities Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman in the teaser or promotional video for their upcoming film Adipurush.

New Delhi News: Delhi's Shaheen Bagh resident and the Kozhikode train fire incident primary accused Shahrukh Saifi ran a YouTube channel with 539 subscribers, as per information gathered by IANS.

Saifi, who is known for his talent in creating furniture, showcased his skills in various videos, some of which gained significant popularity with over 90,000 views. However, the authenticity of the channel could not be verified independently by IANS.

"He started uploading videos a year ago on his YoutTube channel a@shahrukhsaifiscarpentry883' and he had uploaded six videos till date. His every video had views in thousands," said one of his neighbours on condition of anonymity, adding that the family and most of the neighbours were in shock when they heard about Shahrukh being a prime accused in the Kozhikode train fire incident.

Three passengers, including a child, died while nine other passengers sustained burn injuries in the arson attack on the Alappuzha-Kannur Express train at around 9.45 p.m. on Sunday (April 2).

Saifi was nabbed on April 4 in a joint operation carried out by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad and Central intelligence agencies. The suspect had reportedly sustained injuries to his face and head, and had sought medical treatment at a hospital in Ratnagiri in Maharashtra.

However, authorities have now begun to delve into Saifi's past and are actively searching for any potential connections that may explain why the young man has taken such a wrong turn in his life.

The police have yet to release any further details about the case, but they are determined to uncover the truth behind Saifi's alleged network and the reasons for his sudden involvement in illegal activities. IANS

Thiruvananthapuram News: Shahrukh Saifi -- prime suspect in the Kerala train fire case which claimed three lives -- was sent to 14-day judicial custody on Friday.

Accused of setting fellow passengers ablaze on a moving train, 24-year-old Saifi is currently undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College hospital.

He was hospitalised after being taken into custody from Ratnagiri in Maharashtra as he had suffered injuries and his bilirubin levels were high.

On Thursday, after the medical examination tests revealed that he had suspected jaundice, the local magistrate arrived at the hospital this morning and decided to send Saifi to judicial custody.

Soon after the magistrate left, the medical board met and after assessing the medical condition of Saifi decided that he could be discharged.

The police will now decide to which jail he should be taken to.

With Saifi being sent to judicial custody, the Kerala Police probe team will have to move the court for his custody for questioning and evidence collection. They will take him to Ratnagiri from where he was arrested by the Maharashtra Anti-Terror Squad with the help of the Central agency on Wednesday.

Saifi was driven down to Kozhikode and arrived at a police camp at around 545 a.m. on Thursday.

It was on Sunday night that Saifi, hailing from Delhi, doused petrol on fellow passengers and set them afire while the train was moving from Kozhikode to Kannur.

Three people, including a two-year-old girl, died after they panicked and jumped out of the moving train. Nine others suffered burn injuries.

The Kerala Police could question him for a few hours on Thursday, after which he was admitted to the hospital. Hence, they are expected to move court to get Saifi's custody. IANS

Mumbai: In an epochal development, the tiny Dawoodi Bohra community has got a swank and glittering, eco-friendly mosque, the biggest in the city and among the largest of the clan in the country, an official said here on Tuesday.  The place of worship is the iconic ‘Saifee Masjid’, which was first built in 1923, and after a century of prayers, now redeveloped in 2023, in the heart of south Mumbai’s Bhendi Bazaar area.  The community’s spiritual head Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin inaugurated the Saifee Masjid on Monday night at a formal ceremony in the presence of a large number of joyous Dawoodi Bohras.  This is the same venue where the mosque was first inaugurated by the late Syedna Taher Saifuddin (51st Syedna) in 1926, and where his son the late Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin (52nd Syedna) regularly led prayer congregations for decades till his passing in Jan. 2014 – they were the father and grandfather, respectively of the present 53rd Syedna.  “The old Saifee Masjid building was constructed between 1923-1926 but had passed its utility and was dilapidated after serving the community for nearly a century. It was demolished in 2018 and another replica of the earlier mosque, with certain modern innovations, was constructed here in the past five years,” said an official from the Syedna’s team.  The new mosque measures 34.5 metres long, 26.7 metres wide and 15.1 metres high, and can accommodate 5,000 community members on the ground plus two floors, the upper floors reserved for women devotees.  The external complex can accommodate another more than 15,000 people making it a convenient venue for large gatherings like Ramzan, Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid Milad-un-Nabi, Muharram congregations, and other special events round the year.  The rebuilt Saifee Masjid weaves in different architectural styles like Indian, Islamic and elements of classical architecture blended in a harmonious and distinctive design, two tall minarets with graceful ornamentation rise imposingly above two corners of the mosque.  The Burmese teakwood, salvaged from the old mosque, has been recycled for the new mosque’s columns, beams, doors, windows and decorative grills which allow a play of light and shadows.  The inside walls are adorned with Quranic verses, ornate floral motifs and decorative patterns, presenting an overall pleasing ambience.  Designed to reduce its carbon footprints, the new mosque has a rainwater harvesting system and a sewage treatment plant to slash overall water consumption, the utility building is powered and lit entirely by solar light, while a decorative fountain and date palm trees provide natural shade in the courtyard between Saifee Masjid and the world-renowned Raudat Tahera mausoleum complex.  Besides, over 150 shops on the periphery of the Saifee Masjid and Raudat Tahera mausoleum complex have also been redeveloped as part of the ongoing Saifee Burhani Upliftment Trust (SBUT) mega-project on the 16.5 acres here.  Kicked off in 2009 by the 52nd Syedna, the SBUT aims to provide modern, spacious homes and commercial premises to over 20,000 people in and around the Bhendi Bazar areas, in what will be one of the biggest urban renewal projects for the inner city redevelopment.

Rejoicing 'Devara' fans across the globe with this big announcement, Koratala Siva said, "The film is set against the forgotten lands of coastal India and the canvas is too big. As we started shooting the film, the canvas revealed itself and started getting bigger and bigger. Every character in the film has its own weight and they need to be explored and established in depth and in detail, which we can't justify in one part. So, we took the decision to tell this big story and canvas in two parts. The story won't change in shape but will thrive in scale. Interestingly, the magnum opus marks NTR Jr's second big collaboration with filmmaker Koratala Siva after the 2016 hit film 'Janatha Garage' which earned immense appreciation from audiences and critics. 'Devara' will be released in two parts. The first part of the film will be released later this year, in October. 'Devara' marks the first collaboration of Janhvi with the 'RRR' actor. Directed by Koratala Siva, 'Devara' will unfold in two parts, with the initial chapter hitting theatres on October 10, 2024, coinciding with the Dussehra weekend. The magnum opus is produced by Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts, and presented by Nandamuri Kalyan Ram. The film's music is by Anirudh Ravichander, and the cinematography is by R Rathnavelu.
