Farrukhabad:&nbsp;Two teenagers drowned in the Ganga river while taking selfie during bath at Singhirampur Ghat here on Monday, police said.According to the police, Shivam (18) and Sachin (16) along with their two other friends had gone to bathe in Ganga river in Kamalganj area.They were taking selfies in the mid stream when they drowned, police said. Two other boys were saved by the locals and rushed to the Kamalganj Community Health Centre for treatment. After the family members of the deceased refused to get the post mortem examination done, the bodies were handed over to them, police said.—PTI

He was in a room with his wife when the minor girl came to call her elder sister, Utraula Kotwali police station in-charge inspector Anil Singh said. As soon as his wife left the room, the man raped the minor girl, he said quoting a complaint filed by the victim's mother. The girl was admitted to a private hospital after her condition deteriorated, Singh said. Police have arrested the accused and further investigation is on, he said.—PTI

The accident took place near Ganwaria trisection late on Friday when the victims were travelling from Laxmanpur to Bhagwanpur in Gasadi police station area, Balrampur Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Saxena said .A jeep, too, rammed into the SUV on its rear end, the SP said. While Basant (32), his wife Amrita (28), Laxman (40), Wadi (35) and Shadab (26) died on the spot, Ankit (13) died in the hospital. Injured Shiv Prasad (52) and Durga Prasad (26) have been admitted to the district hospital. Another person named Umesh (13), whose condition is critical, has been referred to a hospital in Lucknow, the SP said, adding that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem and legal action is being taken.—PTI

Hoshiarpur: &nbsp;A six-year-old boy on Sunday fell into a 100-feet deep borewell in Behrampur village near Garhdiwala here, said officials. They said a rescue operation is underway.The boy was playing in a field and climbed a borewell shaft when some stray dogs started chasing him. The borewell shaft was covered with a jute bag and could not withstand the weight of the boy and gave in causing him to fall into the well. The boy belongs to a family of migrant labourers. Teams of district administration including a Deputy Commissioner have reached the site.A team of the National Disaster Response Force has also been called, said officials. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said the rescue operation was underway and he was in constant touch with the district administration. A 6-year-old boy Hrithik fell into a borewell in Hoshiarpur. District administration and local MLA were there and rescue operation is underway. Balrampur:&nbsp;The stringent National Security Act (NSA) was been invoked against former Balrampur MP and Samajwadi Party leader Rizwan Zaheer, who is in jail in a murder case, by Uttar Pradesh authorities, police said on Saturday. According to Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Saxena, action has been taken against "mafia" leader Rizwan Zaheer under the NSA to maintain public peace and order. The order was issued on Saturday night and a copy was served to Zaheer in jail, he said. The NSA allows the detention of a person up to a year without any charge.Zaheer is in jail for the last five months in connection with the murder of Firoz Pappu, former chairman of Tulsipur Nagar Panchayat.—PTI

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday met senior party leader Azam Khan at Delhi's Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, a meeting that came amid speculations of a rift between both leaders. The meeting lasted for nearly two and a half hours and according to sources, both leaders discussed the bypolls to the Rampur Lok Sabha seat, vacated by Khan after he was elected to the Uttar Pradesh assembly earlier this year. The meeting between both leaders took place after a long time, with Khan's close associates earlier accusing Yadav of ignoring the senior party leader when he was lodged in the UP's Sitapur jail.&nbsp; Khan was granted bail by the Supreme Court last month after he spent over two years in the jail.The senior leader was admitted to the medicine department of the Delhi hospital on Sunday for a routine check-up."Akhilesh Yadav visited the hospital and met Azam Khan, who is admitted to the facility," a hospital source said.Khan's condition is "perfectly stable", hospital sources said.In a tweet, Yadav said, "Praying for good health...get well soon."Yadav met the senior leader for the first time after visiting him in the Sitapur jail in the initial days of his imprisonment in 2020.The SP supremo not visiting Khan was resented by the senior leader's supporters, leading to speculation that all is not well between both leaders.Senior socialist leader Shivpal Singh Yadav after meeting Khan in the Sitapur jail had targeted Akhilesh Yadav as well as party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav for leaving the senior leader in the lurch.Wednesday's meeting between Yadav and Khan is seen against the backdrop of the bypolls to the Rampur Lok Sabha seat on June 23. Lucknow: A young man has been arrested for trying to force a minor to elope with him after stealing ornaments and cash from her house.
The accused and his accomplice also beat the girl, a class 10 student, and took her at knifepoint and threatened her.
However, she raised an alarm after which she was rescued by the passers-by.
The girl's brother has lodged an FIR in which he said that his sister got a friend request from Arbaaz of Rampur about six months ago, which she accepted.&nbsp;
They started chatting and sharing photographs. In due course of time, Arbaaz proposed to her after which she started distancing herself from him.
When Arbaaz came to know about this, he started calling her friends to spread fake news of their affair. The girl got scared and remained in his contact.
Arbaaz reached Lucknow with a friend and asked the girl to meet him at a place near her house.
He again pleaded with the girl to marry him and asked her to administer sedatives to her parents, steal the ornaments and cash, and elope with him.
The girl shouted at Arbaaz and rebuked him and then he and his friends thrashed her and one of them took her on knifepoint.
SHO, Aliganj, Deepak Pandey said Arbaaz was later arrested and efforts were on to trace his aides.&nbsp;

Lucknow (The Hawk): A 35-year-old Nepalese lady was detained by police in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh, with cocaine valued at more than Rs 7 crore.
On Tuesday, Dil Kumari was taken into custody near the Jarwa police station thanks to a tip from the intelligence community.
SP Balrampur Rajesh Saxena claimed that the woman was likely being utilised by a global cartel as a "drug mule," a phrase for couriers used by transnational drug traffickers, to distribute the consignments in Delhi and Maharashtra.
In order to conduct additional investigations after the arrest, the police have also requested assistance from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
The SP claims that sub-inspector Ram Kumar received a tip about the whereabouts of a woman who was thought to be trafficking drugs while he was on patrol near the Piyera Pahadi section of the India-Nepal border.
According to a senior official, women police officers who were about to cross onto the Indian side frisked about 25 women.
But when it was Dil Kumari's turn, the officer stated, "she seemed apprehensive and as soon as the women cops started frisking her, she gave in."

Saharanpur (The Hawk): A 19-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself after her relatives killed her boyfriend by beating him.
The assault occurred in the Rampur Maniharan region's Islampur area, according to the police.
Tannu Saini, the female, was a B.Sc. student, and Zia-Ur-Rehman, her boyfriend.
According to reports, the youngster was summoned to the girl's family's home, where he was beaten. He later passed away from his wounds in a Dehradun hospital.
Wednesday marked the girl's suicide.
Police stated that they had not yet received a complaint in this matter. According to police, no FIR has been filed.
According to the girl's autopsy report, she died by hanging.
Local markets remained closed shortly after word of the deaths circulated due to fears of civil disturbance because the couple belonged to different religious groups.
Vipin Tada, SSP in Saharanpur, said: "Police officers have been sent out. The probe is ongoing, and appropriate action will be taken."

Lucknow (The Hawk): In order to secure free and fair elections in the Rampur Assembly seat, where by-elections are scheduled for December 5, the Samajwadi Party has written to the State Election Officer demanding the dismissal of Moradabad Commissioner Aunjaneya Kumar Singh.
The party claimed that Aunjaneya Kumar Singh had a vengeance against SP leader Mohd Azam Kahn and his family throughout her lengthy tenure as the district magistrate of Rampur in the letter signed by state SP chairman Naresh Uttam Patel.
According to the letter, free and fair elections in the region could not be anticipated while Singh was in charge of the situation.
During the Rampur Lok Sabha byelection and the earlier this year conducted Assembly elections, the SP had already called for Singh's ouster.

The senior SP leader will not be able to cast a ballot in the Rampur by-election on December 5 as a result of the decision.
The Rampur Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) decided to strike his name from the list after receiving a complaint from Akash Saxena, a candidate for the BJP in the election, who cited numerous legal provisions to support his request.
According to the ERO's decision, "the name of Mohammad Azam Khan is suitable for striking off along with the application submitted by the applicant (Saxena), copies of the judgment/order of the court, and after considering the relevant provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, and the Representation of the People Act, 1951."
In light of this, it stated that "the name of Khan should be immediately deleted from the serial number 333 of Vidhan Sabha 37-Rampur."
Khan, a Rampur MLA, was disqualified after being found guilty of using hate speech last month.

Lucknow (The Hawk): The bail request of a 29-year-old Balrampur resident accused of killing his wife and disposing of her body parts after packing them into a bag in July 2020 was denied by the Allahabad high court's Lucknow division.
According to Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh's judgement, there is no justification to issue bail to the accused Sameer Khan given the "heinous" nature of the offence and the evidence that has been filed.
According to the prosecution, Sameer met Ayesha while he was employed at a meat market in Mumbai. In 2017, the two fell in love with one another and were married.
In 2020, when the store he was working at was closed due to a Covid-induced lockdown, Sameer returned to his hometown in Balrampur without Ayesha because he hadn't told them about his marriage in Mumbai.
The accused said in his police statement that he became suspicious of his wife's "character" since her phone was always busy whenever he tried to reach her. He called his wife to Lucknow on June 25, 2020, and they moved in together in Indira Nagar.
On July 5, 2020, the accused and his wife got into an argument. He then beat her fatally with a rod. She was then cut into six pieces, which he kept in a luggage. On the Lucknow-Ayodhya route, Sameer brought the luggage to Safedabad Barabanki and dumped it there.
On July 7, 2020, police found the suitcase holding the body portion.
Police found the body and detained Sameer for questioning about 40 days after the crime.
He confessed to the crime after being questioned for a long time and helped the police find the knife and the vehicle that was used in the murder.
