Talking about New India-New resolve Shri Thakur said that the nation can only be healthy if its young people participate and engage in development initiatives. “Youth must always remember the contribution and sacrifice made by the freedom fighters. You don't need to sacrifice but you have to contribute”, Shri Thakur added.Shri Thakur further said that while now India is at 75 years of independence, we must pledge and commit what we are going to achieve and what we are going to contribute during its Amrit Kal ie from now to India@100. It is entirely in the hand of youth to make the present and future of this country, he exhorted.. Shri Thakur also highlighted that India has involved the youth in several central government and state government schemes for sustainable development. The 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development is dependent on public participation, ownership &amp; solidarity. And if we go about it systematically, India can create the largest workforce in the world, the Minister explained. Jammu (The Hawk): The bodies of an engaged couple were discovered hanging in the Ramban area of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, according to the local police.
The bodies of Amresh Singh, who was 26 years old, and Sapna Devi, who was 20 years old, were discovered late Monday evening under circumstances that are being investigated as potentially suspicious.
According to officials within the police department, "Inquest proceedings have been launched after a FIR was registered in the incident."

Islamabad: Pakistan's Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has called on the international community to maintain a pragmatic approach and constructive engagement with Afghanistan and provide support and assistance to prevent any potential humanitarian crisis in the country, TOLO News reported. TOLO News is an Afghan news channel broadcasting from Kabul. Zardari while addressing an event at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad, said that abandoning Afghanistan or its 40 million people during this critical phase could lead to "unimaginable consequences." "The international community must continue to provide support assistance to avert any potential humanitarian disaster and help build a sustainable economy for the long-term development of Afghanistan," he said, according to TOLO News. Zardari added that "simultaneously, Pakistan hopes that the Taliban authorities would be responsive to the expectations of the international community." He said that "the Afghan interim government must ensure inclusivity, respect for human rights of all Afghan and effective counter-terrorism action." The Taliban welcomed the Pakistani foreign minister's comments but added that the world's demands, which include interference in the internal affairs of Afghanistan, are unacceptable. "In terms of human rights, I should tell you that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan provides all people's rights in accordance with Islamic principles and the Sharia law. And of course, efforts are underway in some areas where there are inadequacies. Abu Dhabi: Edward Hobart, ambassador of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland to the UAE, affirmed his country’s support for the UAE hosting of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) and UK’s active participation and engagement in the UN climate conference. "In COP28, we think that the UAE is a great country to be hosting it, understands energy, has a long history in energy, and has a long history in renewable and clean energy including nuclear. So, it has an example it has set and we need to bring more countries with us. But it's a huge challenge," said Edward Hobart in an interview with Emirates News Agency (WAM). He spoke about the UK’s vision of the importance of COP28 and its role in bringing about a quantum leap in global climate action as one of the main areas of joint cooperation between the two countries. On UK’s participation at COP28, Edward Hobart said, "There will be very strong British participation at COP28. We've been strong contributors at all COPs up to the one that we chaired two years ago in Glasgow. So we'll have many of our leaders as well as British companies, British investors, British scientists and experts contributing to COP28." He indicated, "The UK chaired COP two years ago in COP26 and I think every year this becomes more important. The climate emergency has to be addressed. So, we really have to focus on reducing emissions, increasing mitigations, helping countries adapt, and providing the financing to do all that, and this is a key part of COP28." "It is a huge challenge for the world, for the UAE to lead that process and we want to do whatever we can to support it. To support it we need to increase renewable and clean energy, and as a target, we'd like a bold target to maybe triple renewables by 2030. We have to reduce emissions, and just like the UAE has just published its own commitment to net zero, its refined commitment, we need countries around the world, the big emitters to put out what are called ‘NDCs’, (Nationally Determined Contributions) to reduce those emissions." "We have to phase out unabated fossil fuels, while at the same time providing alternative energy sources. And we also need to address the countries which had been affected right now by climate change through development assistance. All of this requires a huge amount of finance. There's no reason why businesses can't get involved in investing private money in order to make money and be commercially driven by it, but we need to provide the right incentives," he added. On UAE-UK energy cooperation, the UK Ambassador said, "The UAE has been investing for over a decade in the UK in renewable energy and they are investors in major wind farms, offshore wind farms, the London Array, wind farms in Scotland, and floating high wind farms off the coast of Scotland. The UAE has also invested in battery storage in the UK, and the UK and the UAE have both invested in each other’s countries in hydrogen projects. So there's a lot of cooperation that we have together as well as in third countries where our businesses and governments work together to help other countries through their own energy transitions." "The UAE has been a major player in renewable energy for a long time. Their offshore wind and battery head offices are actually in London. So they run their global operations on wind and batteries out of London because we have technology and investments that we share between the UK and the UAE. They have some really interesting investments, I mentioned hydrogen, BP and ADNOC invested in Teesside in the northeast of England and here in Abu Dhabi, but also some really interesting innovations. So, Octopus Energy from the UK and Taqa from the UAE invested in Morocco in a British company called Xlinks with the ambition to bring solar and wind energy from Morocco to the UK - three and a half thousand kilometres of cable to do that. So some really important innovations. We intend to do the same hopefully in other parts of the world but we can help them through their energy transition." Regarding UAE-UK’s initiatives at COP28, the UK diplomat explained, "Certainly, there will be bilateral initiatives I'm sure with the UAE, as well as UK initiatives on things like nature. We want to make sure that we bring huge funding to nature-based solutions because this is a flipside, which is that part of the mitigation to the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is ensuring that we have the right vegetation on the ground. So mangroves is a very important project that we work jointly on with Emirati organisations, developing and sustaining forests around the world and supporting indigenous groups of people that understand how to do that." "As well as looking after small and developing states, whose very existence is threatened or who find themselves affected by severe climate change in terms of climate events like hurricanes in the Caribbean. So, nature-based solutions, how we protect those communities and those areas which had been most immediately affected by climate change are really important additional areas for the UK to work on with the UAE. I think we'll also work with the UAE on food security. We're hosting a conference in London on the 20th of November to help lead up to COP28 where there'll be a food security element there as well," he concluded. —ANI

Gurugram: For better coordination between the police and the general public, Gurugram Police commissioner, Vikas Arora, has taken an initiative under which all the station house officers (SHOs) will organise a police-public dialogue programme at the police stations on the first Sunday of every month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In police-public dialogue programmes, the SHOs will discuss community problems, solutions and suggestions with the people over tea.
Village head (Sarpanch) of the concerned police station area, officials of RWAs, social organisations and other dignitaries will also be invited to these programmes.
The officials said police-public communication programmes will help a lot in public cooperation in crime prevention, women's safety, drug-free society, awareness about curbing cyber fraud, making effective traffic plans, etc.
"We appealed to the general public to participate in the police-public dialogue programme and tell about community problems. The concerned Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) will also participate in these programmes so that the spirit of cooperation and coordination between the police and the general public can be taken to a different level," the police commissioner said.

The 31-year-old laid bare her personal and professional struggles in the candid film for Apple TV Plus which touched on her 2016 breakdown and stint in a treatment centre as well as her diagnosis of bipolar disorder and later battles with mental health issues – and she has now revealed she was reluctant to make the film over fears it would jeopardise her career, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
Speaking during an appearance at Thrive Global’s Music and Health Conference in Los Angeles on Tuesday, she explained: “I was very against it. There was a very long period of time where I just didn’t know if it was a good idea. I knew, eventually, one day I wanted to maybe just be an actress for a while, and I didn’t know if it would jeopardise things in my life.
“I don’t know what I’m doing, letting people into my life. And then the moment it was released … I had no choice at that point. And I was relieved. I felt like a huge weight was lifted.”
However, she admitted she can’t bring herself to watch it again.
Gomez added: “I felt like I got to say things that I’ve been keeping in for years. It’s very hard for me to watch. I will never watch it again, but I’m very proud of it. I couldn’t have been luckier to have the people that worked on it with me.”
During the appearance, she also spoke about her relationship with social media – insisting she’s not bothered about numbers of followers but feels the “heavy” responsibility of interacting with fans who are going through tough times.
She said: “I’ve never really cared about that stuff [social media]. I suppose I’m grateful for the platform, and I would love to continue to use it for what I’m able to do, but numbers are just numbers.”
Gomez added: “It can be a little heavy. I feel for people, and I think that’s what kind of keeps me in check, to be honest. The Congress leader’s visit comes months after few porters urged him to meet them to understand their issues and work for their uplift.
In a post on his WhatsApp channel, Rahul Gandhi said, “Today, met the coolie brothers working at Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi. I also had this desire in my mind for a long time, and they had also called me very lovingly – and the wish of the hard-working brothers of India should be fulfilled at any cost.”

He had also visited Delhi University’s PG Men’s hostel to have lunch with the students and then took a truck ride from Haryana’s Murthal to Ambala to understand their pain.
Gandhi had also visited the farm lands during the paddy sowing season and interacted with farmers in Haryana’s Sonepat, visited bike mechanic shops in Delhi’s Karol Bagh area, visited Azadpur Mandi amid skyrocketing prices of vegetables.
He had also invited the farmers of Sonepat and a vegetable vendor Rameshwar separately over lunch at his residence here.
Recently, he also undertook motorcycle rides in ladakh, Leh and Kargil region to interact with the people.

New Delhi: As part of the Indian Army’s decision to shift its annual Army Day Parade to different venues, Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, will be the host for the event next year on January 15, Army officials said. Traditionally, the Indian Army Day Parade was conducted at Delhi Cantonment every year but in line with the government’s endeavour to shift major events to different parts of the country, from last year onwards, it was decided to be held outside the National capital and Bengaluru was the first outside venue in January 2023.&nbsp;
“The forthcoming Army Day Parade, set for January 15, 2024, will be hosted in Lucknow. Post the Bengaluru event, the Indian Army has planned to ensure that each of its six operational commands gets a chance to host the parade. The idea is to conduct the event in selected venues within all the commands, on a rotational basis,” Army officials said. The last event was conducted in the Southern Command area and the upcoming event will be conducted in Central Command, they said. "This move aims to increase public engagement, foster national unity, and showcase the might and discipline of the Indian Army to diverse audiences across the country," the officials said. 
"The rotation is not just about changing cities but about shifting the spotlight to various commands, each of which plays a unique and critical role in the nation's defence. This also offers a chance to highlight the distinct cultural and regional backdrops against which our army operates," as per officials. 
Details about the logistical aspects of the parade in Lucknow, such as the parade route, participating units, and any special attractions are being worked out, as per officials.

Punjabi singer Navraj Hans shared pictures of the couple from Saturday night's event on his Instagram handle. Hans, who is the son of Hans Raj Hans and son-in-law of Daler Mehndi wished the “adorable and made-for-each-other couple” a happy married life. In the pictures, Parineeti was seen wearing a shimmery lehenga with a matching ethnic jacket for the event, while Raghav was seen in a dark suit. Talking to reporters about last night's event Navraj Hans said, “All types of songs were played on Sangeet Night But, there was a lot of demand for Punjabi songs" "... As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has introduced the "No Straw Nariyal Challenge" to address the pervasive issue of plastic waste associated with coconut vendors across the city. Plastic pollution has emerged as a significant concern amid rapid urbanization, posing a daunting challenge for cities across the globe. Plastic has become an integral part of daily life, making it a complex task to eliminate completely, read the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs press release.
However, Bangalore, like many other cities, has embraced the challenge head-on.
The "No Straw Nariyal Challenge" was initiated in response to observations by BBMP officials, who noted that many coconut vendors continued to use plastic straws despite efforts to curb single-use plastic.
Compounding the issue, alternatives like paper straws were both costlier and less readily available, making it challenging for vendors to transition away from plastic, read the press release. In a proactive approach to addressing this problem, the BBMP not only sought to discourage the use of plastic straws but also promoted the idea of "bring your own cup." Through a series of awareness campaigns, the BBMP aimed to instil eco-conscious practices among both vendors and consumers. Vendors were encouraged not only to eliminate plastic straws but also to adopt sustainable alternatives, such as serving coconut water without straws or offering eco-friendly options, read the press release, This innovative step created a sense of responsibility among coconut vendors and the public, emphasizing that even small changes in daily routines can collectively have a significant impact on the fight against plastic pollution. Approximately 50 coconut vendors at various locations in the city actively participated in the Challenge, which was organized in collaboration with the Indian Plogman and Cupman NGO and involved members of the BBMP Marshals unit, read the release. The "No Straw Nariyal Challenge" marks the beginning of a journey towards a more sustainable and plastic-free Bangalore. It exemplifies the power of innovation and community engagement in addressing environmental challenges, offering hope and inspiration for similar initiatives across the country and beyond. Bangalore's efforts to tackle plastic pollution demonstrate that change is possible when individuals, communities, and authorities come together for a common cause.

Lucknow: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is all set to implement a slew of measures finalised during Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat’s three-day visit that concluded here on Tuesday.  In October, the seven-day 'prathmik shiksha varg' (initial training camps)’ - the first interface with Sangh - will be organised across the state. 
A RSS functionary said, "There is a special focus on enlisting youths from marginalised sections, including OBCs and Dalits, in these training camps which will run till November. There is a greater focus on expanding the Sangh’s reach in 'yet-unreached' areas."  Within the RSS, the focus is on enlisting ideologically aligned youths, who, so far, have known the organisation from afar. Since 2014, when a 'Modi-led' BJP came to power at the Centre, the number of youths showing interest in Sangh’s ideology and attending its 'shakhas' has increased, Sangh cadres said and added that ahead of 2025, the Sangh’s centenary year, the plan was to ensure 100 per cent shakha coverage.  The Sangh leadership, which has already floated Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) to build bridges with the most-influential minority and mostly considered sceptical to BJP-RSS, has also tasked the cadres with connecting with them.  "We have been told to visit and accept invites from Muslims. The Sangh leadership is clear that we need not discriminate with them but yes, this approach will be applicable only to nationalists across communities," a Sangh functionary said.  The RSS chief also set an inclusive agenda for cadres and stated that the "Sangh welcomes and connects with all, including critics".  However, he had made it clear that while "critics and criticism" were welcome, the Sangh would ensure that criticism did not harm the Sangh’s image.  The RSS is also connecting in a bigger way with nomadic tribes. "Now there is a separate 'pramukh (head)' for them. And even in our training camps, we have started getting youth from such communities," another RSS functionary said.  Rural outreach was also a key part of the Sangh agenda.  Ensuring at least one RSS shakha in every village is part of the Sangh’s plan, which automatically entails connecting with farmers.
