    UP: Lynching for "talking to people from another community"

    Bareilly (The Hawk): Neighbors attacked a man, lynching him, and hurting his 20-year-old son for allegedly "talking to people from another community."

    While talking to his buddies, embroidery worker Shahrukh Sheikh was attacked and severely beaten. Mohammad Sartaj, Shahrukh's father, was also beaten till he lost consciousness while attempting to save his son. He later passed away from his injuries in a hospital.

    "I was talking to two friends outside my house when Rashid Khan and three other people—Ashu Khan, Fayyam, and Fazil—started yelling insults at us and beat us up without cause," Shahrukh recalled. My buddies got away in some way. My father was brutally attacked with hockey clubs when he arrived to save me.

    He claimed that his brother works with people from a different community, and they often visit his home.

    "My family never objected to their visit, but our neighbour Rashid had warned us that if we didn't cut connections with them, there would be serious consequences. Daud, Shahrukh's older brother, stated, "We want strict action against all the accused.

There has not yet been any arrest. After receiving the autopsy report, further action will be taken.
