Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on Friday that Agniveers, after serving the country, will be given weightage in recruitment for the UP Police and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) forces. He mentioned that the nation would benefit from having trained and disciplined young soldiers in the form of Agniveers. The Chief Minister made these remarks to the media at his official residence on Friday evening, before attending the NITI Aayog meeting in New Delhi. Criticising the opposition's stance on the Agniveer issue, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated, "The role of the opponents is to create obstacles and spread rumours in every effort towards progress and reform." He highlighted that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has become the fifth-largest economy in the world. "In the last 10 years, significant reforms have taken place in India," CM Yogi said, adding that the country is moving towards self-reliance in the modernization of the Indian Army and its equipment. Emphasising that periodic reforms are essential for establishing new benchmarks of progress and prosperity, CM Yogi stated, "Significant reforms have been implemented across various sectors over the last 10 years. Under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, efforts have been made to elevate India's economy to a prominent status, making it the fifth largest economy in the world."

Whether it's the strides made towards self-reliance in the army and its equipment or the swift decisions made for modernization, today India boasts some of the most advanced fighter planes." The Chief Minister stated that the Defence Industrial Corridor is being developed in both Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, with thousands of crores invested in the six nodes of the UP Defence Industrial Corridor. He highlighted significant advancements, including the work of Bharat Dynamics Limited and progress in the development of the BrahMos missile, reflecting a substantial leap forward. The army is also advancing rapidly. He added, "The Agniveer scheme has been implemented in the Indian Army with this vision. There is considerable enthusiasm among the youth for this initiative, and 10 lakh Agniveers are moving forward to serve as formidable soldiers in the Indian Army." Further criticising the opposition, he stated, "Unfortunately, some political parties prioritise their own gain over the country's welfare. They seek to play politics at the nation's expense, constantly interfering, misleading, and making statements against every reform and progress. The opposition is consistently misleading the youth on this issue." CM Yogi stated that today's youth are eagerly joining the Agniveer programme, and plans are in place to integrate them into paramilitary and civil police roles. The UP government has committed to offering facilities and weightage for their recruitment into the UP Police and PAC forces upon their return. He mentioned, "We will benefit from having trained and disciplined youth as Agniveers. Our government is fully committed to this initiative. We should advance Prime Minister Narendra Modi's campaign for military reform, considering it crucial for national security."

Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav paid tribute to the heroes of the Kargil war amid rain at Shaurya Smarak in the state capital. "We are proud of our army, who protected our country; their sacrifice and courage have created a new history. Amid various challenges from the enemies, our soldiers not only hoisted the tricolour on high ground but also created a history of victory. With such an unmatched contribution, sacrifice, and courage, a new history of India's victory was created," CM Yadav said. "It has been 25 years since that glory, and many of our soldiers have sacrificed their lives in the battle. I pay tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country. The country stands with the soldiers. Whenever challenges arise, our Army is capable and will emerge victorious in all difficult situations," he added. Kargil Vijay Diwas, observed annually on July 26, commemorates the success of Operation Vijay in 1999. During this conflict, Indian forces successfully reclaimed strategic positions in the Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir that had been infiltrated by Pakistani soldiers and terrorists.

It has never been seen before today when the Ethics Committee expelled a member of the Legislative Council by making a fake case. Nitish Kumar wanted to expel me for raising voices against the corrupt and for the poor and farmers. There is no provision that a member can be expelled like this." In defence of the expulsion, JD(U) leader Neeraj Kumar stated, "He was declared guilty by the Ethics Committee. Now, the final decision lies with the Chairman of the Legislative Council." Adding to this, JD(U) leader Ashok Chaudhary emphasized that the decision was taken by the Chairman and the Legislative Council Secretariat and the Government has nothing to do with it.

Bhubaneswar: Two wagons of a goods train on its way to Angul derailed near Bhubaneswar railway station in Odisha on Friday morning. Speaking to ANI, East Coast Railway's Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), HS Bajwa, said that no casualties were reported and one of the wagons had already been re-railed and the other wagon would be re-railed soon. "One wagon has already been re-railed and the second wagon will hopefully be re-railed within one or one and a half hours... There were no casualties as the train was moving very slowly. We are assessing the reason for the derailment but there is no major damage or anything," the official said.

Bajwa further said that the derailment took place in the Bhubaneswar station yard and because of this, they were able to manage the coach traffic. "It's basically in the Bhubaneswar station yard only. The train derailed; it was a goods train that was going towards the Angul side. Two wagons got derailed. It's in the yard; our two lines, up and down lines, are free and so, we are able to manage the coaching traffic," he said. Previoulsy on July 21 this month, a guard bogie of a goods train derailed in the goods ward of Ranaghat in the Nadia district of West Bengal during internal shunting. Earlier on that day, a freight train en route from Alwar Goods Station to Rewari in Rajasthan got derailed on the Mathura track at approximately 2:30 AM. On Saturday, July 20, at least seven coaches of a goods train derailed between the Ghaziabad and Moradabad sections in Uttar Pradesh.

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Friday that she will be protesting against the political discrimination meted out to Bengal at the NITI Aayog meeting in Delhi on Saturday, July 27. Before leaving for Delhi today, the All India Trinamool Congress Chairman said, "I will protest against the political discrimination being done with Bengal in the Niti Aayog meeting. In the budget, the way they have discriminated against Bengal and the other opposition states, we can't agree to that." She further stated that the BJP ministers and leaders' attitude is such that they want to divide Bengal while also imposing economic and geographical blockades on the state. "The attitude of their ministers and BJP leaders is such that they want to divide Bengal. Along with the economic blockade, they also want to impose a geographical blockade. The Minister said this while Parliament was in process. Different leaders are giving different statements to divide Jharkhand, Bihar, Assam, and Bengal. We strongly condemn this attitude," she said.

I will try to record my voice if they let me or else I will protest and come out," she said. This move by the West Bengal CM came as a surprise after most Chief Ministers of opposition-led states had said that they would boycott the NITI Aayog meeting, which will be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Saturday. On Wednesday, Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that their government will boycott the NITI Aayog in protest against the central government's alleged injustice to the state in the allocation of funds in the 2024 Union Budget.

Mumbai: Flight operations have been affected following heavy rains that pounded Mumbai and its suburbs, resulting in the cancellation and diversion of some of the flights. Referring to this, Air India said it was offering full refunds or a one-time complimentary rescheduling for bookings confirmed for travel on Thursday. The airline also shared a link and asked people to check the flight status before heading to the airport. "Heavy rains in Mumbai are affecting flight operations and resulting in the cancellation and diversion of some of our flights. Air India is offering full refunds or a one-time complimentary rescheduling for bookings confirmed for travel on July 25, 2024," posted the airline on X. The airline further said that passengers need to check their flight status before heading to the airport. Earlier in the day, the airline warned passengers about the potential disruption in flight operations as a result of the heavy rainfall. "Flights to and from Mumbai may be affected due to heavy rains. Guests are advised to start early for the airport, as slow traffic and waterlogging may delay movement," said the airline in a post earlier in the morning. Earlier in the day, the Andheri Subway in Mumbai was closed for vehicular movement following waterlogging from the persistent rainfall. The downpours have brought back woes for Mumbai and the suburbs, with waterlogging reported from several low-lying areas in the city.

The heavy rainfall overnight has disrupted some public transport services, causing inconvenience to countless commuters. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, "Today's weather forecast at 8 am suggests moderate to heavy rain in the city and suburbs." The forecast indicates the possibility of very heavy rainfall in isolated places. Occasional gusty winds reaching 50-60 kmph are also very likely. As per the BMC, the reservoirs supplying water to Mumbai are experiencing heavy rains, resulting in a steady increase in water storage. Currently, four reservoirs - Vihar, Tulsi, Tansa &amp; Modaksagar - are overflowing. Given the overall situation, the 10% water cut in Mumbai's water supply will be withdrawn starting Monday, July 29. The BMC is also withdrawing a 10% water cut to Thane City, Bhiwandi, and Outside City Division Grampanchyats, where water is supplied by BMC, from Monday, July 29. Additionally, the Indian Meteorological Department issued a red alert for Maharashtra on Thursday and has predicted extremely heavy rainfall. On Wednesday, an orange alert has also been issued in the state warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall (115.6 to 204.4 mm) from July 26 to July 27 in Maharashtra. An orange alert was also issued for Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts in Maharashtra's Konkan region.

Mumbai: As the state of Maharashtra faces the effects of continuous rainfall, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday took stock of the situation in the state. CM called the Raigad collector and told him to help all flood-affected people and assured him of all help. Traffic has been halted at Tamhini Ghat on the Raigad-Pune route following the debris from a landslide as a result of the heavy rains. According to Raigad Police, "Traffic is stopped at Tamhini Ghat in the Raigad-Pune route due to a landslide. Traffic will be stopped for the next few hours until the debris is cleared." Speaking to ANI, Shinde said that water is still there on the roads and in the houses in Pune. He also said that the District Collector, Municipal Commissioner, and Police Commissioner have been put on alert. "There is water on the roads and in the houses of people in Pune. There is a lot of rain at Khadakwasla Dam and in the catchment area. The District Collector, Municipal Commissioner, and Police Commissioner are on alert," he said.

Further, he said that teams of NDRF and SDRF have been deployed and army and airlifting teams have also been kept on alert. "Teams of NDRF and SDRF are deployed there. Preparations have also been made for airlifting operations if needed." Shinde appealed to the people and asked them to cooperate with the administration to move to safer places. He also said that an orange alert had been sounded in Mumbai for the next three hours. "I appeal to the people to cooperate with the administration to move to safer places. In Mumbai, an 'orange' alert has been sounded for the next 3 hours. I have spoken to the Mumbai Municipal Commissioner to take all measures. 222 water pumps are working to drain excess water in different areas," he said. He added, "There is water accumulated on railway tracks in the Kurla and Ghatkopar areas. Work is being done to open the Andheri subway, which is closed right now. I appeal to Mumbaikars not to venture outside, if not required. I have also spoken to Raigad Collector and directed him to remain alert." Meanwhile, due to the heavy rains in the hilly areas of Pune in the Western Ghats, the Pune administration has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges.

New Delhi: A 20-year-old man, sitting on a Scorpio car's bonnet and dressed as Spiderman landed in the police net and a fine of Rs 26,000 was imposed for dangerous driving and other violations, officials said on Wednesday.
According to the police, they received a complaint on social media platform X about a Scorpio car seen on Dwarka roads with a person dressed as Spiderman on its bonnet and took action.  Police traced the car and located the occupants near Ramphal Chowk, Dwarka. The person in the Spiderman costume was identified as Aditya (20), a resident of Najafgarh. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Gaurav Singh (19), a resident of Mahavir Enclave, a senior police officer said.
The owner and driver of the vehicle have been prosecuted for dangerous driving, driving without a pollution certificate, and not wearing a seat belt, with a possible maximum fine of Rs 26,000 and/or imprisonment or both, the officer said.  The Delhi Traffic Police reiterates its commitment to ensuring road safety for all citizens. Such reckless behaviour on the roads will not be tolerated, and strict action will be taken against offenders to uphold the law and protect the lives of road users, they said.  The Delhi Traffic Police urges citizens to report any instances of dangerous driving or traffic violations promptly. Public cooperation is vital in maintaining road safety and ensuring the smooth flow of traffic in the city, the officer added.

Shimla: Two people were killed and three injured as their car fell into a 200-metre-deep gorge in Rohru Sub-Division of Shimla district, police said on Wednesday.
The incident took place on Tuesday night on the Summerkot-Sungri link road while the victims were on their way to Shimla from Rohru, the police said.  According to the police, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid into the gorge.  The victims have been identified as Lucky Sharma (25), a resident of Bhojpur village in Bilaspur district, and Ishant (23) from Navgao village in Arki in Solan district, the police said.

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Congress on Wednesday embarked on a protest march to Kedarnath against the proposed construction of a replica of the Himalayan temple in Delhi.
State Congress president Karan Mahara, vice president Mathuradutt Joshi and a host of other party leaders performed a puja and a havan on the banks of the Ganga River at Har Ki Pairi in Haridwar and took the blessings of seers before starting the 'Kedarnath Bachao' yatra.  Former chief minister and senior party leader Harish Rawat too joined the yatra in Haridwar. The march is likely to conclude in around 16 days.

We will always oppose any attempt to tamper with them," Rawat said.  Mahara lashed out at the chief minister for laying the foundation stone of the temple in Delhi and said the trust behind its construction is named after the Dham and is receiving donations through a QR code.  He demanded that a case be registered against the people associated with the trust and asked why no action had been taken against them yet.  The temple in Delhi as well as the trust behind its construction are named after Kedarnath.
Earlier, the priests of Kedarnath staged a dharna outside the temple for several days against the proposed construction of its replica. They withdrew their agitation after getting a positive assurance from the chief minister.  Strong opposition from the Congress and priest bodies put the state government on the backfoot as it took a decision in its last meeting here to introduce a stringent law banning the use of the names of Uttarakhand's major Himalayan temples, including Badrinath and Kedarnath, for any other temples, trusts or committees managing their affairs.  State Cabinet minister Dhan Singh Rawat termed the Congress's protest march as "politically motivated" and claimed that the kind of work done for the development of the temple and its surroundings by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the state government was never seen before.  "The Congress' entire yatra is politically motivated. What Prime Minister Narendra Modi and our state government have done for the development of Kedarnath was never done before. People also understand that Congress is only doing politics. It has nothing to do with development," Rawat said.  Hours before the Congress began its yatra to Kedarnath, Dhami visited the temple to perform 'jalabhishek' -- a ritual in which holy water of the Ganga is offered to Lord Shiv, the deity to whom the temple is dedicated.  The chief minister also reviewed the arrangements made for the convenience of pilgrims in Kedarnath the reconstruction projects underway at Kedarpuri - a township around the ancient temple.

New Delhi: Swami Govindananda Saraswati on Sunday launched a fierce attack on Swami Avimukteshwaranand, purportedly the Shankaracharya of the Jyotish Peeth in Uttarakhand, terming him a “liar” and “cheat and a “toy” of the Congress. He also vehemently criticised Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for addressing Swami Avimukteshwaranand as Shankaracharya, demanding she issue an apology within 15 days, otherwise he would initiate legal action against her. “There is no doubt that he (Swami Avimukteshwaranand) is a Congress toy if you doubt it, I have evidence,” Swami Govindananda Saraswati told IANS. “I am sitting in Delhi and challenging Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and I am challenging Mukteshwaranand who is also sitting in Delhi. Whenever I raised questions against him, he always used to escape, but finally, he got caught,” he said. Showing a letter from Priyanka Gandhi, on her official Congress letterhead, to Swami Avimukteshwaranand, Swami Govindananda Saraswati asked how she had addressed Avimukteshwaranand as a Shankaracharya. Swami Govindananda Saraswati went on to claim that Swami Avimukteshwaranand, whose coronation as the new Shankaracharya of the Jyotish Peeth was stopped by the Supreme Court in October 2022, had submitted Priyanka Gandhi’s letter to the apex court, contending that the Congress leader and her party had accepted him as he Shankaracharya, so he should be given the legal right too. “See how foolish this is..” he said, questioning Priyanka Gandhi and the Congress’ competence to declare Swami Avimukteshwaranand as a Shankaracharya. He also accused Swami Avimukteshwaranand of lying to the Supreme Court that everyone recognised him as a Shankaracharya, and called him a “criminal” and a “cheat”. Swami Govindananda Saraswati said that the Shankaracharya of Puri was also shocked by Swami Avimukteshwaranand’s moves and had filed a case against him, stating that he had declared or endorsed anyone for the post. Accusing Priyanka Gandhi and the Congress of “playing games” on the issue, he said: “I will give a 15-day ultimatum to Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for a public apology, otherwise, I will file a case against her.” —IANS

Ghazipur (UP): Two teenagers, sitting on a railway track with their earphones on, were killed after being hit by a train as they couldn't hear the horn, police said on Monday.
SHO of Kotwali police station, Deendayal Pandey, said the two friends, Sameer (15) and Zakir Ahmed (16), are residents of Rajdepur.  The incident occurred on Sunday evening when the boys were sitting on the railway line and listening to music with their earphones on.
As the train reached the track, they couldn't hear the sound of the train's horn, Pandey said.  They were hit by the train and died on the spot, Pandey said.  The bodies were sent for post-mortem. Further investigation is underway, Pandey added.

Nuh, Haryana: The Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra that was marred by violence last year began on Monday morning amid tight security arrangements.
The yatra started from Nalhar Mahadev Mandir, from where the devotees will proceed to Jhir Mandir in Ferozepur Jhirka.  The yatra route spans over nearly 80 km and ends at Singar via the Jhir temple.  Before the start of the yatra around 11 am, a large group of women reached the Nalhar Mahadev temple from Bhuteshwar temple. Six people, including two home guards and a cleric of a Gurugram mosque, died in the clashes that erupted when a mob attacked a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession in Nuh on July 31 last year.
According to officials, over 2,000 personnel from police and paramilitary have been deployed in the district to ensure foolproof security for the yatra this time.  Nuh Superintendent of Police Vijay Pratap Singh had said on Sunday that security forces would be deployed along the procession route.  "We will keep a close eye on everyone through drones," Singh said.  Nuh Deputy Commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata had told PTI on Sunday, "The situation is very peaceful, cordial ahead of the yatra and both communities (Hindus and Muslims) are ready to welcome it." Many welcome gates have been erected and food stalls set up for the members of the procession, he said.  Meanwhile, a mobile internet suspension was ordered by the government "to stop the spread of misinformation and rumours" through social media platforms, such as WhatsApp, Facebook, and Twitter, among others.  On Sunday, a flag march was taken out in the district in the SP's presence.  Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, chairman of All India Imam Organization, visited Nalhar Mahadev Temple in Nuh on Sunday to appeal for peace.  Liquor shops will remain closed till the yatra is completed, according to an official order.

New Delhi: After Uttar Pradesh government issued a directive for food shops on the Kanwar Yatra route to display their owners' names, the opposition parties continued to attack the state government, citing discrimination on the basis of religion, while the ruling party defended itself. Notably, amid the row in Uttar Pradesh, the Haridwar Police Administration also issued an order for restaurant owners to display names on the Kanwar Yatra route. All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi said that it reflects the hatred towards Muslims in India. "Fear on UP's Kanwar routes: This is The reality of hatred for Indian Muslims, credit for this visceral hatred goes to political parties, leaders of Hindutva and so-called lip servicing Secular parties," Owaisi said in a post on 'X', sharing a photo of an egg stall displaying the name of its owner. Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal also took a dig at this move asking whether the Kanwar Yatra route is the same as the journey towards 'Viksit Bharat'. "Kanwar Yatra Route UP directs eateries including roadside carts to display the names of owners! Is this the route to a "Viksit Bharat"? Divisive agendas will only Divide the country!" Sibal said in a post on 'x'. Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Brinda Karat also hit out at the Yogi Adityanath government over this move likening it to Nazi Germany. "The Uttar Pradesh government is destroying the Constitution of India by issuing such orders...A whole community is being humiliated...They are trying to divide society...This type of targeting was done by Nazis in Germany...I condemn it," Karat said speaking to ANI on Saturday. Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) MP Sanjay Raut lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the recent government order in Uttar Pradesh that mandates shopkeepers to put up nameplates in front of their stalls stating their owner's name, saying that the ruling party will not benefit from dividing the country through such orders as it will break the nation's unity. "Now you (BJP) are directing foodstalls to put up nameplates based on caste and religion? Do you want to divide the country? You won't profit from it. You are breaking the nation's unity," Raut said, speaking to reporters in Mumbai on Saturday. They want to finish the rights of Muslims, Dalits and then other sections because they want to create a different system here," she added. Samajwadi Party chief and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav also criticised the move and urged the court to take suo-motto cognizance on the matter. Earlier, Muzaffarnagar Police said that the police have urged all the eateries to "voluntarily display" the names of their owners and employees, adding that the intention of this order is not to create any kind of "religious discrimination" but only to facilitate the devotees. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Golu Shukla from Indore-3 assembly constituency voiced his support on Saturday for the Uttar Pradesh government's order directing eateries along the Kanwar Yatra route to display names of their respective owners. "We have been organizing the Baneshwari Kanwar Yatra for the last 21 years. This year, the yatra will start from Maheshwar with a 'Dugdh Abhishek' to the Narmada river on July 22, the first Monday of the Shravan month, and will continue until July 29," Shukla told ANI. West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party Chief Sukanta Majumdar on Saturday came out in support of Uttar Pradesh government's directive for food shops on the Kanwar Yatra route to display their owners' names, saying that a similar notification was issued during the Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav governments. "Opposition is misleading people and spreading lies. A similar kind of notification was issued during Mulayam Singh Yadav's government, and Akhilesh Yadav's government also issued such notifications... it's a routine exercise and not specific to the Kanwar Yatra. The law requires that names be registered, not identifying anyone by religion... Hindus who eat non-veg go to Muslim shops. In West Bengal, we go to many such shops, which are run by Muslims. The opposition is trying to divide the people and Asaduddin Owaisi is playing the role of Jinnah," Majumdar told ANI. Haridwar District Magistrate (DM), Dhiraj Singh Garbyal, said on Saturday that the move is intended to ensure "the convenience of the public and allow people to know the details of the food outlet's owner." Union Minister Giriraj Singh said, "This is a matter of the state government, if the state government comes up with any new rule then everyone has to obey it." Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray said that this is an attempt by the BJP to create distance between people, I only ask that no matter whose nameplate it is, if he is a member of BJP, then is it appropriate or not?" Congress leader Salman Khurshid said, "On behalf of Congress, we have said very clearly that this is wrong and the formal statement has already come from our spokesperson. Almora: Six people were injured when a bus they were travelling in overturned on a road near Uttarakhand's Almora district on Sunday, police said. According to officials, the bus was carrying 23 people and was going to Haldwani when its driver lost control over the wheels and ended up overturning it on the road near Chausali Almora. Officials claimed that the driver lost control over the steering, reportedly due to the breakage of a spring pin. The injured were provided with first aid from the SDRF and have been taken to the Primary Health Center Suyalbadi for further treatment, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) said in a statement. SDRF was informed by district control room (DCR) Almora that a bus lost control and crashed near Chausali. Upon receiving the information, an SDRF team led by SI Pankaj Dangwal immediately left for the spot with the necessary rescue equipment. "The said KMOU bus (vehicle number UK04PA1011), which was going from Bageshwar to Haldwani and carrying 23 people, lost control and overturned on the road near Chausali Almora due to breakage of the spring pin," the SDRF said in a statement. "The SDRF team provided first aid to 6 injured people and sent them to the Primary Health Center Suyalbadi by ambulance," it added. —ANI

He also wished the people of the state on the occasion of Guru Purnima. Chief Minister Dhami said that a massive tree plantation campaign is being run in the state from the Harela festival (July 16) to August 15. Social organisations, people working in the field of the environment, and self-help groups have also been associated with this campaign. Tree plantation campaigns are also being run at the Gram Panchayat level in the state. On this occasion, Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) Vice President Banshidhar Tiwari said that a park will be constructed in the coming days on the land where this plantation is being done. Individuals involved in data collection should receive proper training. Additionally, a comprehensive database of birth and death certificates should be developed." He issued guidelines to the Planning Department officials regarding the publication of the District Domestic Product Estimates Uttar Pradesh 2022-23 booklet at his official residence. The Chief Minister stated that Uttar Pradesh is a state brimming with potential. "The gross state domestic product of Uttar Pradesh reached Rs 25.48 lakh crore in 2023-24, up from Rs 22.58 lakh crore in 2022-23. The economy of Uttar Pradesh is growing at a growth rate of 8 percent in the year 2023-24. Due to the state government's strategic efforts over the past seven years, this growth is expected to continue," he said. The Chief Minister said that this booklet should include data like GSDP of Uttar Pradesh, DDP of the district and percentage share in the state. He said, "It should also include the annual growth of both the district and the state, the per capita income of the district, the per capita income of Uttar Pradesh, and a comparative analysis of the district and the state." The Chief Minister stated that the data from the District Domestic Product Estimate Booklet should be distributed to all universities and Krishi Vigyan Kendras in the state. By establishing communication with these institutions, research work should be advanced based on this data. The Chief Minister said that the state government is moving forward in the direction of Village GDP, District GDP, recognizing that panchayats and urban bodies are the base. There are immense development possibilities in the agricultural sector. The Chief Minister mentioned that efforts are underway to make panchayats and urban bodies self-reliant. "Over the past seven years, unprecedented progress has been made in infrastructure development in Uttar Pradesh, and urbanization has accelerated rapidly. Consequently, the per capita income of the people has increased," he added. The Chief Minister stated that a self-reliant society will form the foundation of a self-reliant India. "Over the past seven years, extensive changes have occurred in every sector within the state, and the transformation in the state's work culture is clearly visible. Varanasi: The revered Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, has made special arrangements for the darshan of devotees and kanwariyas on the first Monday of Shravan this year, which falls on July 22. Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, CEO of Kashi Vishwanath Temple, said that a large number of devotees are expected to arrive this year and therefore all the preparations have been made keeping that in mind. "The Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi is completely ready for the convenience of devotees during the month of Sawan. There will be tight security arrangements. It is estimated that about 1.5 crore devotees will visit Kashi Vishwanath temple this year. The number of devotees may increase tremendously as there are five Mondays in the month of Shravan this year," said Mishra. Huge crowds of devotees flock to visit the Kashi Vishwanath temple every year as it is considered to be the most prominent Jyotirlinga among the twelve Jyotirlingas. The Temple CEO further said that in view of the huge number of devotees, the Kashi Vishwanath Temple administration has also made preparations by taking full care of the security and convenience of the devotees. "The administration has made three-tier security arrangements for security. All four gates of Kashi Vishwanath Temple will remain open so that the devotees do not face any problems. Devotees can enter from any gate. This year, special care is being taken to ensure that people do not face any problem in darshan," said Mishra. Notably, Mahadev (Lord Shiva) will appear in different forms on all Mondays of Shravan month in Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. With five auspicious Mondays of Shravan month, this year, Baba Vishwanath will be adorned in different forms every Monday. Shivamay Kashi will appear in different colours and in different forms on all Mondays of Shravan month with his family, Mata Parvati, Kartikeya, and Ganesh. Speaking about the ongoing preparations, Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, Chief Executive Officer of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust, said that this year, Baba will be decorated in his different forms on all five Mondays of Sawan. Devotees coming to see Baba will be able to see the following forms of Shri Kashi Vishwanath. On the very first Monday of Shravan, on July 22, a moving idol of Baba Vishwanath will be decorated. On Monday, July 29, Baba Vishwanath will be decorated in the form of Gauri Shankar. On the third Monday, August 5, Baba Vishwanath will astonish devotees with his Ardhanarishwar form of decoration. On the fourth Monday, August 12, Baba Vishwanath will be adorned with Rudraksha. On the last Monday of Shravan, August 19, also on the occasion of Shravan Purnima, Baba Vishnwanth will be decorated in the form of Shankar Parvati Ganesh. Shravan is Lord Mahadev's favourite month. New Delhi: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board, along with others on Saturday issued a joint statement over Uttar Pradesh's government order to transfer students from Madarsas to government schools and said that efforts to undermine Madarsas will not be tolerated. In the statement undersigned by various leaders from the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith, it said that they strongly condemn the efforts to undermine the status and identity of Madarsas in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and other states through various pretexts. "We categorically state that the directives issued by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights to state governments concerning minority educational institutions, i.e., Madarsas, is illegal and beyond the commission's jurisdiction," the statement read. "Following these directives, the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh has instructed district authorities to survey Madarsas and transfer students from "unrecognised schools" (independent Madarsa) to government schools. A list of 8,449 "unrecognized schools" - independent Madarsas have been published, including renowned and historical institutions such as Darul Uloom Deoband, Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulema, Lucknow, Mazahir Uloom, Saharanpur, Jamia Salafia-Varanasi, besides others," it added. The statement also mentioned that this circular from the Chief Secretary and the pressure from district authorities are blatantly illegal. The religious organisations also termed the order as an attack on their personal right to choose, and upon the joint Indian culture and civilization. "Now, Muslim students are also being pressured to obtain basic education under the Right to Education Act. Administrators of these Madarsas are being threatened with action in case of non -compliance," the statement read. It was also alleged that in Madhya Pradesh, the government has taken a step further by compelling students in Madarsas to perform Saraswati Vandana daily. "We, the responsible members of Muslim religious and national organizations, and heads of religious schools and universities, deem it necessary to clarify that under Article 30(1) of the Constitution, minorities have the fundamental right to establish and administer their educational institutions. Additionally, the Right to Education Act explicitly exempts religious schools," it read. The organisations, in their joint statement, mentioned further that the sudden and unilateral actions by the Chief Secretary are an unwarranted attempt to disrupt this longstanding and stable system, causing educational damage to millions of children and imposing undue mental and psychological pressure on them. "We demand that the administration of these states cease these illegal, unethical, and oppressive actions and to not jeopardize the future of children. We stand resolute to take all possible legal and democratic actions to change these minority-hostile policies of the state governments," the statement added. —ANI
