Etah (The Hawk): Abhishek Thakur, a leader of the BJP, has received a notice from police in Etah, Uttar Pradesh, asking him to respond to questions regarding his contentious post on social media, in which he claimed that "a sub-inspector heading the local police outpost charges money to register FIR in genuine cases and even to frame people in fake cases."
He also suggested a "bribe fee list" for "various kinds of services" in his Facebook post.
"The social media post is defaming police and required legal action will be taken if a clarification is not supplied by latest November 5," read the warning from Jaithra police station.
Udai Shanker Singh, SSP, stated: "A notice has been sent to the concerned content writer after taking notice of the claims made on the social media site. The outcome of the notice response will determine what steps are taken moving forward."
On October 31, Thakur published a piece to his Facebook page in which he listed "pricing for various services" such as tree cutting, illegal petrol refills, police raids, filing assault cases, and more.
According to the list, the highest rate was "Rs 10,000 for a police raid at someone's house."
Thakur remarked: "In response to the post, the police sent me a notification over WhatsApp, which was signed by sub-inspector Naresh Kumar, the officer in charge of the neighborhood's police outpost. I firmly believe in what I stated, and I have the necessary proof to support it. Many residents of the village have been harmed as a result of this wrongdoing. I'll send the notification a thorough reply as soon as I can."
