Jammu (The Hawk): On Wednesday, Manoj Sinha, the lieutenant governor of Jammu and Kashmir, inaugurated the "Holistic Development of Agriculture and Allied Sectors" programme.

The J&K Administrative Council, presided over by Sinha, has given the project the green light.

The union territory (UT) administration, according to the officials, established an apex committee for the holistic development of agriculture and related sectors in July 2022, to which eminent luminaries were invited.

"In a record-breaking five months, the committee, operating in mission mode, produced a comprehensive plan in the form of 29 projects that covered every area under the purview of the Agriculture Production Department. These initiatives are special not only because some of the best minds in the nation created them but also because their formulation was carried out in a consultative manner, ensuring that the viewpoint of all stakeholders, including our farmers, is taken into consideration "It was stated in a statement.

Lt. Governor's comments: "I am certain that a new revolution in the UT's agriculture and related sectors is imminent after carefully reviewing the contents of the projects that the committee approved and their anticipated outputs and outcomes. J&K is committed to making progress in order to achieve greater success."

"By doubling the output of the sectors, increasing exports, and making the sectors sustainable and profitable, the projects that have now been approved by the administrative council would completely change the agriculture economy of J&K. They will place it on a new trajectory of growth. In J&K, this will signal the beginning of a new phase of farmer wealth and rural livelihood security "the sentence included

"These 29 initiatives will virtually treble the sectors' output, increase exports, and make them sustainably and profitably viable. Through the effective use of bioresources for food, feed, and industry, these advances will be ecologically sustainable, reaching every individual within a mile. The agricultural output, which is currently valued at Rs 37,600 crore, will rise by more than Rs 28,142 crore to exceed Rs 65,700 crore annually, increasing the sector's growth rate to 11% as a result."

"Over 2.8 lakh young people will get employment thanks to the interventions, which will also help launch almost 19,000 businesses. More than 2.5 lakh people will be trained in a variety of agribusinesses, including seed production, precision vegetable farming, beekeeping, cocoon production, mushroom cultivation, integrated and organic agriculture, high-density fruit farming, processing, dairying, sheep and poultry farming, and fodder production. Agri-entrepreneurial skills and a motivated workforce with an agri-ecosystem that is both economically and environmentally sustainable will be present at UT in five years."
