Miss You Zubeen’: Himanta Sarma remembers Assam’s beloved singer on first death anniversary></p><p>Guwahati, Sep 19 (IANS) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday remembered legendary singer and music icon Zubeen Garg on his first death anniversary, sharing two photographs with the artiste on social media and writing, “Miss you Zubeen.”<p>Sarma shared the photographs on his personal X account as Assam observed the first death anniversary of Garg, whose death in September 2025 left fans and admirers across the state mourning the loss of one of its most celebrated cultural figures.</p><p>The Assamese music icon Zubeen Garg, died on September 19 last year while swimming near Lazarus Island in Singapore, a day before he was scheduled to perform at an event organised under the North East International Festival (NEIF).</p><p>The three-day Zubeen Divas began at Zubeen Kshetra in Sonapur, where the singer’s final resting place is located. The memorial venue has been decorated with flowers and fresh gamosas, with thousands of admirers expected to visit the site to pay their respects and participate in commemorative programmes.</p><p>The observance commenced on Thursday morning with a prayer, followed by a naam-prasanga scheduled for the afternoon.</p><p>Cultural programmes have been planned for the second day, while the concluding day will feature Bhagawat recitation and Bhaona, reflecting Assam’s rich cultural and spiritual traditions.</p><p>The Assam government has extended support for arrangements at the memorial site to facilitate the participation of visitors and manage the anticipated crowds during the three-day programme.</p><p>Organisers have appealed to devotees, fans and visitors to maintain discipline and participate peacefully throughout the observance.</p><p>The appeal comes as a large number of people are expected to gather at Zubeen Kshetra to commemorate the artiste’s contribution to Assam’s cultural identity.</p><p>Popularly known among his admirers as
