Chennai: The Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP is to campaign extensively against the statement of state minister for sports and youth affairs Udhayanidhi Stalin against the Sanatana Dharma.
The minister, who is the son of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, while addressing a meeting of Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers Forum on Saturday said that “Sanatana Dharma has to be eradicated just like mosquitoes, malaria, dengue and corona”.  K. Annamalai said that Udhayanidhi Stalin, who is a part of the INDIA bloc, was calling for genocide of the majority population in the country that believes in Sanatana Dharma. The BJP leader said that this would amount to “genocide of 80 per cent of the population”.  In a post on X, the BJP state president said, “The only resolve of the Gopalapuram family is to accumulate wealth beyond state’s GDP. Thiru Udhayanidhi Stalin, you and your father, or his or your ideologue have a bought out idea from Christian missionaries and the idea of those missionaries was to cultivate dimwits like you to parrot their malicious ideology.”  Annamalai also said that Tamil Nadu was a land of spiritualism and the best the DMK would be able to do is to hold a Mic in an event and rant out frustration.  The BJP is also planning to make this a major campaign across the country over Udhayanidhi’s statement. The BJP has already asked questions as to whether the INDIA front agreed upon this in their meeting in Mumbai.

Jaipur (Rajasthan): Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday accused leaders of DMK and their INDIA alliance partner Congress of talking about ending "Sanatana Dharma", while hitting out at Rahul Gandhi for "comparing Hindu organisations with proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba". Hitting back at the DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin over his remark that 'Sanatan Dharma' should be eradicated and not merely opposed, Shah said, "For the last two days, the INDIA alliance has been insulting 'Sanatana Dharma'. Leaders of DMK and Congress are talking about ending 'Sanatana Dharma' just for vote bank politics. This is not the first time they have insulted our 'Sanatana Dharma".
Shah addressed a gathering in poll-bound Rajasthan after flagging off the party's second Parivartan Yatra. Lashing out at the Opposition, he recalled former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also said that the first right on the budget is of the minorities, "but we say that the first right is for the poor, tribals, Dalits and backwards". "Today, the Congress party says that if Modi ji will win, Sanatana will rule. Rahul Gandhi said that the Hindu organisations are more dangerous than Lashkar-e-Taiba". The top BJP leader took a dig at Rahul Gandhi for "comparing Hindu organisations with Lashkar-e-Taiba".  Addressing a conference in Chennai on Saturday, the minister for Sports and Youth Affairs in the Tamil Nadu government railed against Sanatan Dharma, saying, "Few things cannot be opposed, they should only be abolished. We can't oppose Dengue, mosquitoes, Malaria, or Corona, we have to eradicate them. In the same way, we have to eradicate Sanatana (Sanatan Dharma). New Delhi: BJP leader Sushil Modi on Sunday said that DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin has committed an anti-national act by suggesting that 'Sanatana Dharma should be abolished' and questioned the silence of prominent leaders of the INDIA alliance on this issue. Speaking to ANI, Sushil Modi said, "Udhayanidhi Stalin should be detained and jailed. He is spreading hatred in the community. On one side Rahul Gandhi says 'Nafrat ke bazaar mein Mohabbat ki dukaan' and on the other side, a major leader of their ally in Tamil Nadu is saying to eradicate 'Sanatana Dharma' completely. This is an Anti-national act."
He further questioned the silence of the leaders in the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA).  "Rahul Gandhi, Nitish Kumar, Lalu Yadav and other prominent leaders of INDIA alliance should come out and mention whether they agree with this or not. All prominent leaders of Congress are silent on this issue. It seems they (leaders of INDIA alliance) agree with Udhayanidhi's remarks," he said.  Earlier Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday criticised Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin's 'Sanatana Dharma should be eradicated' remark and said that the "reality of some people in Tamil Nadu has now come out”. He further added that nothing is going to happen with these political remarks as 'Sanatana' is eternal.  "The reality of some people in Tamil Nadu has now come out. Just a few days ago, we organised Kashi Tamil Sangamam, and Lord Vishwanath is commemorated in every village in Tamil Nadu. This is their frustration and agitation, it will not be of any use," he said. A Supreme Court lawyer on Sunday filed a complaint with Delhi Police against Udhayanidhi Stalin, Sports Minister of the Government of Tamil Nadu and son of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu over a controversial statement on Saturday on ‘Santana Dharma’. Complainant Vineet Jindal, a practising lawyer, has claimed that Udhayanidhi Maran in a speech made a provocative, inflammatory, derogatory, and inciting statement against Sanatan Dharam.  Earlier Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin’s son, Udhayanidhi Stalin on Saturday said Sanatan Dharma should not merely be opposed but abolished. "Few things cannot be opposed, they should only be abolished. Chennai: The BJP’s Tamil Nadu vice president, Narayanan Thirupathy on Sunday said the DMK was a “communal political party which survives on a minority vote bank”.  He also said that the ruling party in Tamil Nadu “was like cancer which could be treated through the principles of Sanatana Dharma”.  The senior BJP leader was responding to the statement of DMK leader and Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Udhayanidhi Stalin.  On Saturday, Udhayanidhi Stalin was speaking at a Sanatanam (Sanatan Dharma) Abolition Conclave organised by the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers Forum.  He said: “I thank the organisers for giving me the opportunity to speak at this conference to eradicate Sanatana Dharma. I congratulate the organisers for calling the conference as ‘eradication of Santana dharma’ instead of ‘opposing Sanatana Dharma’.  “There are certain things which we have to eradicate and we cannot merely oppose. Mosquitoes, dengue, corona and malaria are things which we cannot oppose, we have to eradicate them. Sanatanam is also like this. Eradication and not opposing Sanatanam has to be our first task,” he added  Reacting to this, Thirupathy in a post on social media platform X on Sunday said, “This is not new for the DMK. For them good things are bad and bad things are good. Sanatana Dharma is eternal. DMK is a communal party that survives on the vote of Muslims and Christians. “  The BJP leadership has strongly retorted to the statement of Udhayanidhi Stalin and the party’s IT cell head Amit Malaviya said, “Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and a minister in the DMK government has linked Sanatana Dharma to malaria and dengue. He is of the opinion that it must be eradicated and not merely opposed. In short, he is calling for genocide of 80% of Population of Bharath who follows Sanatana Dharma.”  The BJP has also asked the opposition INDIA front of which DMK is a prominent member whether genocide of people believing in Sanatana Dharma was agreed upon in the Mumbai meeting.

Chennai: As the controversy over Udhayanidhi Stalin’s statement on Sanatana Dharma rages, the ruling DMK will hold its diamond jubilee celebrations in Tamil Nadu’s Vellore on September 17.
The party is working hard to ensure a mammoth public participation. Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and president of DMK, has called upon the cadres to turn up in large numbers during the golden jubilee celebrations, and the aim is to propagate its Dravidian identity.
The DMK was formed in 1949 in a public meeting at Robinson Park, Chennai which was in the then Madras Presidency. The ideology propagated by Periyar or ‘Thanthai’ Periyar on Dravidianism became the hallmark of the party.
The DMK will also hold, ‘Kalaignar 100- Quiz contest’ to make everyone aware of the Dravidian culture, ethos as also on the rich culture and history of Tamil Nadu.
Stalin’s sister and Member of Parliament and Deputy General Secretary of the DMK, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi is behind organising the quiz competition based on the Dravidian movement and on the stalwarts of the movement like Periyar, C.N. Annadurai and M. Karunanidhi.
DMK is now in a corner after the statement of state sports and youth affairs minister, Udhayanidhi Stalin that Sanatana Dharma has to be eradicated like mosquito, malaria, dengue, and corona which drew flak from the BJP and other Hindutva forces.
The BJP had immediately taken up the statement nationally and alleged that Udhayanidhi had called for the eradication of 80 per cent population of Hindus in the country. INDIA front has also faced fissures following the comment of Stalin’s son with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Shiv Sena leader, Uddhav Thackeray distancing themselves from the statement of Udhayanidhi.

Chennai: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) cadres on Tuesday burnt the effigy of Ayodhya saint Parmhams Acharya over his threat of offering Rs 10 crore as bounty to anyone who chops off the head of Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin.
The Paramahans on Tuesday reiterated his call and said that if required he would increase the money from 10 crore and if needed he himself would do it.
Notably, Udhayanidhi Stalin, who is also the son of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had in a programme organised by Progressive Writers Forum called for eradication of Sanatana Dharma just like eradicating mosquitoes, dengue, malaria and Corona.&nbsp;
Udhayanidhi's statement has drawn flak from across the country with BJP leaders from Amit Shah to J.P. Nadda coming out strongly against him and stating that he had called for the genocide of 80 per cent Hindus in the country.
However, Udhayanidhi Stalin remarked that he would repeat what he has said again and again and added that he cannot be cowed down by threats and intimidation.
The young leader also questioned Paramahans Acharya and asked how he was able to raise so much money if he was a servant.
Udhayanidhi also said that he wanted to ask whether Paramahans Acharya was a real saint or a fake one.
While Udhayanidhi is showing a brave face, the opposition INDIA front is divided over the comment. West Bengal Chief minister Mamata Banerjee and Shiv Sena leader and former Chief Minister of Maharashtra , UddhavThackarey have strongly criticised the statement of Udhaynidhi Stalin.&nbsp;

Panaji: Slamming Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for his allegations against the INDIA opposition bloc over Sanatana Dharma, the Congress on Wednesday alleged that the BJP is "poisoning the minds of people" and spreading communal hatred.
BJP should not seek votes on religion. BJP is poisoning the minds of people across the nation. There is no need of an AK-47 or pistol, BJP is using communal hatred agenda for division. (Because of this) people have started fighting with each other. In which direction our country is going, we need to think on this,” the state's Congress chief Amit Patkar said while addressing a press conference here.
While addressing a meeting in Madhya Pradesh on Monday, the Chief Minister had said that "rulers like Mughals and British couldn’t wipe out Sanatana Dharma from the country in the past. But Congress (INDIA bloc) is trying to insult Sanatana Dharma to garner votes. Hence people should question them".
“In Goa we live in brotherhood and we have maintained communal harmony. It is the agenda of the BJP (to divide people). Chief Minister Pramod Sawant goes to another state and speaks about communalism. He should first know that it is because of Congress, India got freedom from the British. The Congress party has come from revolution. Our leaders made the British to leave the country,” he said.
Condemning Sawant's remarks, Patkar said: "Actually, he could not protect Hindu Dharma in his own state. Temples are relocated for the expansion of the highway. Why could he not save the temple from Pernem (North Goa) and now he is trying to disturb the temple area in Bhoma-South Goa for a highway project because of crony capitalism.
“People have come to know that the BJP government at the Centre and in the state are cheating them. People want you to speak on core issues like unemployment, health, inflation, and importantly about women empowerment and their safety, not about religion."
He said that the Chief Minister should also speak about the several crimes taking place in the state.

New Delhi: BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda, on Thursday, launched a fresh attack on the Opposition bloc I.N.D.I.A accusing it of bashing Sanatan culture and bullying the media.
He also asked the Opposition to immediately stop their “antics” and focus on serving people.
“These days, the I. N. D. I Alliance is only doing two things – bashing Sanatana Sanskriti and bullying the media. Each party is competing to outdo the other in hurling the choicest abuses towards Sanatana Sanskriti. Filing FIRs, threatening individual journalists, making ‘lists’, in true Nazi style of who to target,” he wrote on X.
He was referring to recent remarks made by DMK leaders against Sanatan Dharma and the move of the Opposition
to decide on the names of the anchors on whose shows none of the parties will send their representatives.
He said, “The Emergency era mindset is alive among these parties.I. N. D. I Alliance should stop their antics immediately. They should instead focus on constructive work and serving people. Else, the path to obscurity will get even clearer.”
Taking a swipe at the Congress, Nadda said, “The history of Congress has many instances of bullying the media and silencing those with differing views.
“Pandit (Jawaharlal) Nehru curtailed free speech and arrested those who criticised him. Indira (Gandhi) Ji remains the ‘Gold Medal’ winner of how to do it- called for committed judiciary, committed bureaucracy and imposed the horrific Emergency.
“Rajiv (Gandhi) Ji tried to bring the media under state control but failed miserably. Sonia (Gandhi ) Ji-led UPA (United Progressive Alliance) was banning social media handles simply because the Congress did not like their views,” he said.
Notably, the statement of the BJP chief comes in the wake of Congress-led government in Karnataka filing an FIR against a television news channel anchor, Sudhir Chaudhary for allegedly promoting enmity between groups in his show.

“The PM is saying that Hinduism is not a religion. How can that be? He speaks in a way that suits his agenda. I believe that whether it's Udhayanidhi or anyone else, no one has the right to comment on Sanatana Dharma,” Singh said during an interview.
He said that the PM seemed preoccupied with spreading hatred when they should be thinking about and working about the issues our country is facing.
He emphasised that one should not disrespect another person’s religion.
Singh’s comments came in backdrop of Tamil Nadu Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Udhayanidhi’s remarks on Sanatana Dharma which has sparked a controversy.

Patna: The "backlash over mockery of 'Sanatana' (Dharma or religion) and 'Bharat,' the name by which the country has been known since the ages," according to a prominent RSS functionary, may help the existing government at the Centre return to power "with greater electoral success," as he predicted on Tuesday.
While speaking to reporters, the official, who insisted on anonymity, made a case for anti-conversion laws by describing religious conversions as a "challenge" facing the country and arguing that the issue can be addressed effectively only through the combination of societal awareness and legislative action.
The RSS chief continued, saying that anti-conversion legislation like the one passed in Himachal Pradesh under Congress leader Veer Bhadra Singh is a "constitutionally valid" measure.—Inputs from Agencies

Haridwar: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat, along with Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, on Sunday inaugurated the 'Divine Spiritual Festival' at Shri Harihar Ashram Kankhal in Haridwar. The three-day programme is being organised as 'Shridatt Jayanti' on the occasion of the completion of 25 years of Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Avdeshanand's establishment of Junakahara Acharyapeeth. Addressing people after inaugurating the 'Divine Spiritual Festival' at Shri Harihar Ashram, the RSS chief said 'Sanatana' is eternal. "Sanatana was there, is there and will remain forever. The one that remains is Sanatana," Bhagwat said. Earlier, Bhagwat said all 'sampradayas' in Bharatiya traditions 'purify' an individual. "All sampradayas in Bharatiya traditions lead to one thing, they purify you. We have to reach out. There are so many Hindus we have not yet reached out to. Ours will not be a movement or an agitation. We are not a group that is very powerful in the Hindu society. Ours is (a) group that will organise and expand the whole of the Hindu society. We have to go everywhere and reach out to one and all. One may agree on some things and disagree on some.
