New Delhi (The Hawk): Department of Telecommunications(DoT), Ministry of Communications, has recently issued guidelines for registration of M2M Service Providers and WPAN/WLAN Connectivity Providers and commenced the process of on-boarding the M2M Service Providers through a simple online registration process on DoT’s Saral Sanchar portal, with minimal documentation/details paying an application processing fee of Rs. 5000/- only, to aid in Ease of Doing Business.In order to facilitate wider proliferation and innovation in the M2M/IoT sector, a team, consisting of officers from DoT HQ, TEC and CDoT visited the offices of M/s Sensorise Smart Solutions Private Limited and M/s Aeris Communications India Pvt Ltd on 06.07.2022 to see the M2M/IoT technology solutions/offerings developed and deployed by the aforementioned M2M Service Providers. The service providers showcased how the innovative M2M solutions have led to i) reduction in emergency response time, ii) reduced cost of operations, iii) better visibility and tracking of assets, iv) increased efficiency for the end user and v) improved Quality of Service (QoS). The DoT team had detailed discussions with the M2M service providers regarding the services deployed by them, the way ahead and challenges and opportunities for the M2M/IoT ecosystem.Further, DoT is delighted to share that Thirty-Three (33) entities have already registered till date. This registration would help in addressing concerns like connectivity with TSPs, KYC, traceability and encryption for the M2M Service Providers. San Francisco: Tech giant Apple is likely to launch a new entry-level iPad with a larger screen along with an iPad Pro refresh, upgrading the chip from M1 to the M2.
A leaker claimed that the 10th-generation iPad and the iPad Pro will see some changes during the period, reports AppleInsider.
In a Naver post by a leaker account, a source from China claimed that an October event could occur and play host to iPad changes.
While it may not necessarily be an October event, the leaker said it would be at an additional event held after the launch of the iPhone 14.
The new 10th-generation iPad is claimed in the leak to have a thinner new design with a more square shape and a flat bezel, unifying the design aesthetic across the entire iPad range.
It is also said to have a more prominent display than the existing 10.2-inch screen, but without mentioning the exact size.
The model will also allegedly sport an A14 Bionic chip, support 5G, gain a protruding rear camera bump, and lose the 3.5mm headphone jack.
At the same time as updating the entry-level iPad, Apple will also reportedly upgrade the iPad Pro. However, the leaker merely says the chip will be updated from M1 to M2 in the premium tablet line.&nbsp;

San Francisco: Tech giant Apple’s 2022 MacBook Pros may pack new M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets made with TSMC’s latest 3nm manufacturing process, media reports say.&nbsp;
According to the Commercial Times, TSMC, the world’s largest semiconductor contract manufacturer, has been steadily building out its 3nm production processes and Apple could be the first customer to get its hands on those chips.&nbsp;
The report notes that Apple will use 3nm wafers for the first time in the second half of 2022, likely for its M2 Pro chipsets, citing media reports, AppleInsider reported.
Future releases built on the 3nm process could include the iPhone-specific A17 chipset, as well as a future third-generation of the M series.
Commercial Times also reported that TSMC will begin mass production of its 3nm wafers in September.
The report added that the initial yield will be higher than when TSMC switched to 5nm processes.
Compared to previous chipmaking processes, semiconductors made using the 3nm process could bring increased power efficiency and performance to Apple’s devices.
Prior reports indicate that Apple will use the M2 Pro chip — and possibly an M2 Max — in its 14-inch MacBook Pro, 16-inch MacBook Pro, and Mac mini models later in 2022 or early 2023.&nbsp;

While any amount of weakening before landfall is a good thing, for these reasons it makes more sense to focus on adaptation strategies like strengthening infrastructure, enhancing the effectiveness of evacuation procedures, and developing the science surrounding impending storm detection and prediction.
The scientists combined air-sea interaction theories with a highly advanced computer model of the atmosphere to provide scientifically sound answers to inquiries concerning the efficacy of artificially cooling the ocean to weaken storms.
They cooled regions of the ocean up to 260,000 km2 in size, which is larger than the state of Oregon and equals 21,000 cubic kilometres of water, by up to 2 degrees Celsius in their computer models. Even with the biggest cooling area, the simulated hurricanes only shrank by 15%. Chennai: Shortly after Friday midnight, the countdown will begin for the launch of 36 broadband communication satellites on board ISRO's heaviest rocket Launch Vehicle Mark 3 (LVM3) from Sriharikota spaceport. The launch of 'LVM3 - M2/OneWeb India-1 Mission' is scheduled at 0007 hours IST on October 23 (midnight of October 22). OneWeb is a private satellite communications company. India's Bharti Enterprises is a major investor and shareholder in OneWeb. It will mark the launcher's entry into the global commercial launch service market, according to the Bengaluru-headquartered national space agency."A 24-hour countdown is slated to begin at 0007 hours on October 22," an Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) official said on Friday afternoon. NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), a central public sector enterprise under the Department of Space, had earlier signed two launch service contracts with the London-headquartered Network Access Associated Limited (OneWeb) for launching OneWeb LEO (low earth orbit) satellites on board ISRO's LVM3. "It is (the) first LVM3 dedicated commercial launch on demand through NSIL," NSIL, the space agency's commercial arm, had said."Another set of 36 OneWeb satellites will be launched by LVM3 in the first half of next year," an NSIL official told PTI. "This contract with M/s OneWeb is a historic milestone for NSIL and ISRO, as LVM3, is making its entry into the global commercial launch service market," according to ISRO. The newest rocket is capable of launching a four tonne class of satellite to Geosynchronous Transfer orbit (GTO). Climate Trends, a non-governmental environmental think tank, used satellite data from IIT Delhi to find that Maharashtra saw the least reduction in PM2.5 pollution of any state in the country.

According to data released by the IPCC in 2020, greenhouse gas emissions increased by 45% between 1990 and 2019, exacerbating the global climate crisis.  The impact of rising temperatures on the planet is evident in the changing climate patterns, with longer summers, erratic monsoons, and diminishing winters becoming the new normal. These fluctuations have adverse effects on crop yields, leading to food insecurity and exacerbating issues of hunger, poverty, and malnutrition.  Furthermore, the melting of polar ice caps and the rising sea levels pose a grave threat, causing disruptions in marine ecosystems and increasing the frequency and intensity of disasters such as tsunamis and cyclones.  Recent reports from the Indian Institute of Science and Research, Bhopal, indicate a rise in the number and frequency of cyclones in the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, posing a significant risk to the 7,500-kilometer-long coastline of India, affecting densely populated coastal states.  Experts point to particulate matter PM2.5 and PM10 as the primary culprits behind pollution-related deaths in India. These nano-particles, found in vehicular emissions and construction site dust, are finer than a human hair and easily enter the respiratory system, leading to cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, and other respiratory ailments.  According to recent data from the Environment Think Tank CSE, pollution from PM2.5 has more than doubled in the past 20 years, resulting in a staggering increase in mortality rates and reducing the life expectancy of Indians by 2.6 years, surpassing the global average.  The American Heart Association issued a warning in 2019, highlighting the detrimental effects of PM2.5 on heart health and mortality, suggesting that even brief exposure to these particles could shave months off one's life expectancy.  It is evident from these statistics that air pollution poses a significant multidimensional threat not only to public health but also to the very fabric of society. With India's large population residing in high-risk zones for PM2.5, urgent and comprehensive measures are needed to combat this 21st-century scourge.  In conclusion, it is imperative for India to adopt a unified and extensive strategy to mitigate air pollution and safeguard the health and well-being of its citizens.
