Ghaziabad: Eleven-year-old Shubhi Gupta has created history of sorts by becoming the first girl from Uttar Pradesh to win the Under 12 Chess Championship trophy, that was recently held in Karnataka.The class 7 student, resident of Ghaziabad who began playing when she was in class 2 has already bagged numerous trophies and awards at state leverl inter-school chess tournaments.Shubhi clinched the MPL 34th National U-12 Girls Chess Championship 2022 held earlier in April.Seeing her growing interest in playing chess, Shubi's family started playing chess with her at home and soon she was admitted into Chess Academy. The teen often notches up high ranks in almost all the matches she plays. The champion's father Pradeep Gupta said that seeing Shubhi's growing interest the family decided to help her excel in the field. He said that her talent helped her secure medals and trophies in every match she has played. "This kept us motivated and we kept motivating Shubhi with full dedication. We are proud of our daughter for bringing laurels to the state. She is the first daughter of Uttar Pradesh who has secured the first position in the Under 12 Chess Championship held in Karnataka.The teen champion's father said that now Shubhi has set her sights on international level competitions."Soon an Under 16 Chess Championship is going to be held at the international level. Shubhi is preparing for it with full dedication. We are sure that our daughter will shine and make us and the state proud there as well," Gupta added.The teen's mother Seema said that her daughter's interest grew at a very young age but her dedication to the game has made the family proud while adding "At first I thought she is young but as she continued to bring trophies and medals, seeing her dedication, we decided to take it forward for her. We started playing chess with her, and this made her extremely happy."She said, "Shubhi has never given us chance to complain about her studies as well. Her teachers and school are happy with her as she completes all her school work timely in spite of the chess tournaments and academy."Seema further said, "She is a disciplined child and manages her studies very well. If she has to go out to play chess, she completes her work first after coming home. Whatever she does, she does it with full dedication and hard work and this is why believe her. The Minister delivered key note address at the investment promotion event on “India’s Solar Energy Market”.Shri Bhagwant Khuba in his key note address said that ‘As Hon’ble PM Modiji’s ambitious Panchamrit targets set during COP-26 India is all set to achieve net zero by 2070 and install 500GW of non fossil by 2030.’ Shri Khuba said that India’s vast renewable energy resource potential and strong policy backing provide a strong foundation for achieving these goals.He pointed out that India has seen incredible growth of RE capacity in last 7 years and has achieved target of 40% cumulative electric capacity from non fossil fuel in 2021, 9 full years ahead of set target of 2030. Government of India is committed to promoting domestic manufacturing in the solar PV sector to achieve its ambitious deployment goals. Several policy measures have been undertaken to support the domestic PV manufacturing sector.The Minister also emphasized that India is committed to increase domestic Manufacturing of high efficiency Solar PV modules for which total budget outlay of Rs. 24,000 Cr is made. Further to promote green hydrogen economy India has estimated outlay of Rs. 25,425 Cr. Shri Bhagwant Khuba, earlier today, visited interspace farming Agri-PV site in Althegenber near Munich, Germany. Agri-PV concept promotes dual use of land for Agriculture as well for solar power generation. Elevated solar panel structures provide required shade to crops in hot tropical Indian climate. Washington: The NASA and ESA's (European Space Agency) Hubble Space Telescope has reached a new milestone in recording the mystery of the Universe's expansion rate.In the last three decades, Hubble has calibrated more than 40 "milepost markers" of space and time to help scientists precisely measure the expansion rate of the universe, according to the NASA.The pursuit of the universe's expansion rate began in the 1920s and in 1998, it led to the discovery of "dark energy" - a mysterious repulsive force accelerating the universe's expansion.The NASA said that the astronomers scanning data from several telescopes, including Hubble, found a discrepancy between the expansion rate as measured in the local universe compared to independent observations from right after the big bang, which predict a different expansion value.Although the cause of this discrepancy remains a mystery, the Hubble data, encompassing a variety of cosmic objects that serve as distance markers, "support the idea that something weird is going on, possibly involving brand new physics", NASA said."You are getting the most precise measure of the expansion rate for the universe from the gold standard of telescopes and cosmic mile markers," said Nobel Laureate Adam Riess of the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) and the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.The expansion rate of the universe was, however, predicted to be slower than what Hubble actually sees, the NASA said.Astronomers predict that it should be about 67.5 km per second per megaparsec, give or take 0.5 - but observations show it is around 73 km.Given the large Hubble sample size, there is only a one-in-a-million chance astronomers are wrong due to an unlucky draw, said Riess.Astronomers are at a loss for an explanation of the disconnect between the expansion rate of the local universe versus the primaeval universe, but the answer might involve additional physics of the universe, the team said. Scientists hope that with the new James Webb Space Telescope they may be more able to find answers. Webb telescope, which recently launched to space is set to send back its first observations soon. —IANS

Mumbai: The Emirate of Abu Dhabi is keen on housing more Indian startups in its 'Hub71' ecosystem after having already met with some successes, officials said.Hub71 is designed as an ecosystem which can help startups across sectors in all its needs, from getting them access to venture funding to finding the right talent, the Abu Dhabi government media office (ADGMO) said.In the last one year, the platform has attracted and supported startups at different stages of growth from sectors such as fintech, artificial intelligence, software development and healthtech from many countries, including India.At present, it has 100 startups from 25 countries from 18 sectors, which also include enterprises from robotics, big data analytics, mobility and logistics, the statement from the emirate said.Used car-focused Cars24 was the first Indian company to move into the space and is already the largest used car platform in the United Arab Emirates having a valuation of USD 1.84 billion and revenues of over USD 600 million, it said, adding that three more startups, whose founders are from India, have also set shop at the facility.Giving a peek into its focus going forward, the statement said, "We are also open to supporting visionary founders from India in securing opportunities that will boost their growth prospects in Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and vice versa."The three other startups with Indian founders include Arcab, Hafla and Funder AI, the statement said.Arcab, a mobility service that is transforming the commute to work using shared vans. Toronto: An international team of scientists has released the largest near-infrared image ever taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, enabling astronomers to map the star-forming regions of the universe and learn how the earliest, most distant galaxies originated.To image an expansive patch of sky, the researchers led by those at the University of Toronto employed a new technique with Hubble known as Drift And SHift (DASH). DASH creates an image that is eight times larger than Hubble's standard field of view by capturing multiple shots that are then stitched together into one master mosaic, similar to taking a panoramic picture on a smartphone.DASH also takes images faster than the typical technique, snapping eight pictures per Hubble's orbit instead of one picture, achieving in 250 hours what would previously have taken 2,000 hours, explained the team in the paper to be published in The Astrophysical Journal. The high-resolution survey named 3D-DASH will allow researchers to find rare objects and targets for follow-up observations with the recently launched James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) during its decades-long mission."Since its launch more than 30 years ago, the Hubble Space Telescope has led a renaissance in the study of how&nbsp;<a href="https://www.sentinelassam.com/science-and-technology/scientists-reveal-44-million-galaxies-in-new-map-580567" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" style="background-color: transparent; color: rgb(255, 100, 0);">galaxies&nbsp;</a>have changed in the last 10-billion years of the universe," said Lamiya Mowla, from the University of Toronto. New Delhi: In a major breakthrough, the Special Cell of Delhi Police on Monday arrested two main shooters and their one facilitator who were involved in the killing of Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala."Of the two shooters, one is the head of the module," a senior Delhi Police official said. The accused were identified as Priyavrat alias Fauji (26), a resident of Sonipat in Haryana and Kashish alias Kuldeep (24). Senior official said that the accused Priyavrat, who was the head of 'Bolero Module' of the gangsters, led the team of shooters and was in direct touch with Goldy Brar at the time of incident." He was the main shooter and executioner of murder and can be seen in CCTV footage of petrol pump Fatehgarh before the incident," the official said.Accused Priyavrat was previously found involved in two murder cases and was arrested in 2015 in one murder case of Sonipat and wanted in another murder case of Sonipat in 2021. Kuldeep, the second accused shooter, was also seen in CCTV footage of petrol pump Fatehgarh before the incident," the official said. The third arrestee was identified as Keshav Kumar (29), a resident of Bhatinda, Punjab. "Accused Keshav acted as a facilitator and received the shooters just after the shootout in an Alto car," said the official.Accused Keshav accompanied the shooters till Mansa on the day of incident, during reconnaissance and also during the previous attempts.Apart from arresting the two accused shooters, the police have also recovered a huge number of arms and explosives. Moosewala, 28, one of the most famous Punjabi language singers of the current times, was shot dead on May 29 while he was travelling in a car and around 8 assailants fired over 30 shots at Jawaharke village of the Mansa district in Punjab.Sidhu was found soaked in his own blood on the driving seat of the Mahindra Thar SUV while two more occupants in the car, Sidhu's friends, Gurwinder Singh and Gurpreet Singh also received bullet injuries, but they survived.—IANS

Hubballi (Karnataka) : Chandrashekar Guruji of ‘Saral Vaastu’ fame was stabbed to death in Hubballi on Tuesday. The assassins had come disguised as his devotees to a private hotel in Unakal near Hubballi city.According to the police, the culprits took Guruji’s blessings by touching his feet first when he was at the hotel reception. Catching him unawares, the miscreants then stabbed him repeatedly.Police said that Guruji has been stabbed multiple times on chest and abdomen. After Guruji collapsed in a pool of blood, the assailants escaped from the spot.Preliminary investigations have suggested that persons known to Guruji may have committed the crime.The police have taken Vanajakshi, a former employee of Sarala Vaastu Company run by Guruji, into custody to question her, according to sources.The police have identified the killers as Manjunath Dummavada and Mahantesh Shirur. Manjunath was a former employee. Mahantesh’s wife Vanajakshi — detained for questioning, had worked for Guruji.Hubballi and Dharwad Police Commissioner Labhu Ram has rushed to the spot and monitoring the investigation. He said 5 special teams have been formed to nab the killers and investigation would be conducted by an officer of the rank of ACP.Police said stabbed Guruji more than 50 times. The police are gathering information from the CCTV footages. The motive of the killing is yet to be ascertained.Chandrashekar Guruji was one of the most popular vaastu experts. He had regularly featured on television and was one of the known faces in the state. Further investigation is on.Police sources explained Guruji had bought properties in the name of former employee Vanajakshi. His firm suffered losses due to Covid pandemic. Guruji had asked Vanajakshi to return certain property to him.However, Vanajakshi’s husband did not want to return any property to Guruji.Guruji was pressurising them to return the property to him and killed for the same reason, police sources said.Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Home Minister Araga Jnanendra and Minister for Revenue R. Ashok paid their condolences to the brutal killing of Guruji and assured that killers would be nabbed at the earliest. IANS

Bhubaneswar :&nbsp;Odisha's COVID-19 tally rose to 12,91,518 on Wednesday as 401 more people tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said. This was the highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases since February 22, when the state had recorded 428 infections. Odisha had logged 334 cases on the previous day.The state's coronavirus death toll, however, remained unchanged at 9,126 as no fresh fatality was recorded in the last 24 hours.Khurda, where the capital Bhubaneswar is situated, reported the highest number of fresh cases at 194, followed by 64 in Cuttack. Forty-four children were among the new patients. The daily positivity rate was at 2.66 per cent as 15,907 samples were tested for COVID-19. Odisha now has 1,957 active cases, while 12,80,382 people have recovered from the infection so far, including 139 on Tuesday. Besides, 53 patients have died due to comorbidities so far.PTI

Iran has for long struggled, both economically and geopolitically, due to persistent sanctions imposed upon it, and the hostile attitude it has faced from the US and other Western countries but the development of the Chabahar Port has allowed Iran a lifeline to emerging as a hub of regional trade by promoting these maritime trading operations, political analyst Valerio Fabbri wrote in his blog for Russian International Affairs Council.Amid the hesitancy of Central Asian states like Kazakhstan to support Russian efforts in Ukraine, Iran has built consensus around longer-term commitments to the Chabahar Port as a primary trading hub. Moreover, at a recent India-Central Asia summit, Iran and India showcased their commitment to providing Central Asian countries a stake in the Chabahar Port, setting aside dedicated areas for their trading operations and an agreement was reached as well to simplify customs processes and rules to ensure unhindered movement of goods, stated Valerio Fabbri.Iran's ability to project power through Afghanistan had been held in check by the presence of US forces in the country, but the US withdrawal and the accompanying power vacuum left Iran with new ways to exert leverage, both diplomatically and through proxy militant groups, from Afghanistan into Central Asia.Notably, the Chababhar Port exists in contraposition to Pakistan's Gwadar Port, which Pakistan hoped would emerge as a regional powerhouse, however, its location in an inhospitable region has proved a problem as the Pakistani authorities made a major error of alienating its local population in Balochistan by excluding the people from the benefits of Gwadar's development.The operational aspect of Chabahar Port is significant because it unlocks trading routes that were unviable previously and will help Iran to establish novel trading routes and bring both prosperity as well as diplomatic leverage for Iran over Central Asia, the blog stated. Kyrgyzstan officials have stated that the transit duration for goods between Kyrgyzstan and India could be reduced from the current duration of 30 to 45 days to just two weeks if the Chabahar Port is used. At a time when Tehran has been globally isolated and has battled against persistent sanctions, the Chabahar Port has allowed it a crucial opportunity to position itself as a hub for regional trade and has gained it a measure of ascendancy in relation to its neighbouring Central Asian countries, as well as with reference to Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Chabahar trade routes represent a 60 per cent reduction in shipping costs and a 50 per cent reduction in shipment time between India and Central Asia. The port not only benefits Iran but also allows Afghan traders direct access to the end consumer with a concomitant increase in profitability. Recognizing the potential trading opportunities as well as present difficulties faced by Afghanistan, the Iranian and Indian administrations have taken steps to ease Afghanistan's transition to Chabahar as its primary trading outlet. India started interacting with Iran on Chabahar Port around 2003 but a major push was received in the second half of 2014, resulting in the signing of an MoU between the two countries for the development of the port in May 2015. Bhubaneswar:&nbsp;The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two more persons in connection with the Rs 25 lakh Paradip Port Trust (PPT) bribery case, sources said on Saturday.The CBI had arrested PPT chief mechanical engineer Saroj Kumar Das and three others on Friday after conducting raids at several places in the state.After their interrogation, the agency arrested Charchit Mishra, director of Orissa Stevedores Limited (OSL) and the son of the state's leading industrialist, Mahimananda Mishra, on Saturday, the sources said.The agency also apprehended real-estate developer Sisir Kumar Das in this connection, which took the total number of arrests made so far in this case to six.After producing them before a local court, the CBI has taken them on remand. The accused will again be produced before the special court on August 10.Mishra's lawyer Joydeep Pal claimed that there is no direct evidence against his client."As he is the director of OSL and was looking after the business at Paradip port, he has been arrested," Pal said.Apart from Charchit, Sisir and the engineer of the port, the others arrested include Surya Narayan Sahoo, Deputy GM (operations) of OSL, Sumanta Rout and Sankha Subhra Mitra, the manager of Kolkata-based logistics company Karam Chand Thapar (KCT).As per sources, OSL officials allegedly damaged the conveyor belt at the Paradip port while unloading cargo, and its repairment cost the port a lot.The port's Chief Mechanical Engineer, in alleged conspiracy with Charchit, Mitra, and conduit Sumanta Rout, got it repaired with funds from the Paradip Port Trust.In return, on behalf of Das, the conduit allegedly demanded Rs 60 lakh as bribe. Accordingly, he collected Rs 25 lakh from Cuttack and kept Rs 10 lakh separately for himself, the CBI said.It was also alleged that the conduit handed over Rs 10 lakh to Sisir, with whom Saroj had allegedly booked a property.—IANS

Bhubaneswar:&nbsp;The Mumbai Police have taken three fraudsters who were recently arrested by the economic offence wing (EOW) of Odisha crime branch on transit remand, in connection with an illegal loan app scam case, officials said on Sunday.The accused have been identified as Nitin Mallik of Delhi, Rakshith, and Sushanth of Karnataka.The officials of VP Road police station in Mumbai have taken Nitin on remand while the SDJM Court here on Saturday allowed the West Region Cyber Police Station, BKC Bandra, to take Rakshith and Sushanth on remand, an EOW official said.On July 13, the EOW of Odisha police had arrested Mallik from Hari Nagar police station area of New Delhi while Rakshith and Sushanth were held from Karnataka on June 10.The accused were the directors of different illegal shell companies. The shell companies were used to transfer money from the bank accounts attached with the fake loan apps to the accounts of Chinese nationals through different channels, an official said.The official also said the shell companies of Rakshith and Sushanth were used to make threatening and humiliating calls and send obscene messages to victim persons who had availed loans through illegal loan apps and their contacts through a call centre from Bangalore.Similarly, Mallik with the connivance of 'Chinese masterminds' used to purchase and run virtual phone numbers of different service providers to be used for running and facilitating the lending and recovery through different loan apps.Nitin Mallik was in direct and regular touch with at least three Chinese nationals and used to get a huge salary for this job, the EOW officials claimed.—IANS
