New Delhi (The Hawk): MP Parvesh Varma and party leader Tajinder Singh Bagga of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have been accused of mistreating an official of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) who is in charge of spraying "defomer" in the Yamuna river before Chhath Puja in the capital city.

Sanjay Sharma, Director of Treatment Quality Control for the Delhi Jal Board, filed the complaint against Verma, Bagga, and others for obstructing official duties and criminal intimidation.

"I, Sanjay Sharma, have signed this letter. Today, October 28, 2022, I was working at Bhola Ghat, Down Stream of Okhla barrage, Kalindi Kunj, on the bank of the River Yamuna. Member of Parliament Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, Mr. Tejinder Singh Bagga, and some of his friends stopped me from doing my official job. He tried to scare me and make me afraid. He used a lot of bad language and was rude to me, "Sharma's letter about how he felt was read.

Sharma also said in his complaint that Verma was spreading false information that DJB officials were poisoning the water of the Yamuna River.

"This thing Verma did is an attack on a good and honest government worker like me, and I can't accept it. It has made me and everyone else in my office feel down and scared. Please file a police report against Mr. Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, Tejinder Singh Bagga, and others as required by law and take the right steps "it said in the complaint.

On Friday, a video of the fight went viral on social media. It shows Verma, Bagga, and some of Bagga's friends fighting with DJB officials who were spraying chemicals on the Yamuna river before Chhath Puja.

Verma pointed to the chemical barrels by the Yamuna ghat and said, "You've remembered after eight years that it's okay to use now that it's been approved? You're killing people here, and you haven't been able to clean up the river in eight years."

Parvesh Verma can be heard telling the officials, "First you take a dip in it now," which means, "First you dip yourself in it."

When the DJB official tried to say that the chemical is okay with the US FDA, Verma said, "How did that chemical get there? Tum yahan pe chemical daal rahe ho paani mein aur yahan pe log lagayenge dubki, yeh main tere sar par daal doon? Sharam nahin aati tumhein? (You'll put the chemical in the water and then people will swim in it. Should I dump this on top of you? (Aren't you embarrassed?)."

Verma said in an interview with India Today that we will have to talk to officials if the Delhi Chief Minister and ministers are not willing to talk.

"And if the people in charge also don't listen, you'll be angry. If they are poisoning the water in Delhi, I will talk to the officials in a rude way. I don't do it for myself; I do it for the people of Delhi "he said.
