Seoul (The Hawk): North Korea has launched numerous missiles, including a failed suspected intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) that prompted the Japanese government to issue evacuation notices in the country's northern and central regions.
The Thursday launches are the latest in a series of North Korean missile tests that have heightened regional tensions. They came a day after Pyongyang launched more than 20 missiles, the highest in a single day, including one that landed for the first time off South Korea's coast, prompting Seoul to launch air-to-ground missiles in return.
Despite an earlier government warning that a missile had overflew Japan, Tokyo eventually denied this.
Earlier in the morning, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's office issued warnings to inhabitants in the northern and central prefectures of Miyagi, Yamagata, and Niigata, advising them to seek shelter inside solid structures or underground. Following the missile threat, bullet train services in those areas were momentarily interrupted before returning shortly.
Kishida, who stated that the first missile launched could have been an ICBM, criticised North Korea's tests and stated that officials were analysing the weapons' specifics.
"North Korea's repeated missile launches are an outrage that must not be tolerated," he continued.

Seoul (The Hawk): According to police, the number of people killed in the crowd crush in Seoul's Itaewon neighbourhood increased by one to 158.
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, the additional victim is a South Korean woman in her 20s.
On October 29, amid the crowd surge in Itaewon, a popular nightlife zone, 132 South Koreans and 26 foreigners lost their lives.
The bodies of 24 foreign nationals have been transported home, while 130 South Koreans' funeral arrangements have been finalised, according to the statement.
Ten of the 196 injured people are still receiving medical care, according to the authorities.

Seoul News: Scores of flights were grounded on South Korea's Jeju Island on Wednesday due to dangerous wind conditions.

The weather authorities issued alerts for high winds and wind shear, which refers to sudden changes in wind direction and speed, reports Yonhap News Agency.

As of 9 a.m., the Jeju International Airport had reported the cancellation of 31 domestic flights.

Of the 259 domestic and 14 international flights scheduled for the day, airlines cancelled 167 in advance.

In the morning, wind gusts reached a peak of 11.8 meters per second in areas surrounding the airport.

The wind is forecast to intensify to 12.8 to 23 mps in the afternoon.

"The wind was blowing as strong as 25.7 mps, equivalent to a quasi-typhoon, over the airport, causing disruptions to aircraft operations," a weather official at the airport said. IANS
