New Delhi (The Hawk): It is a fact that more than 90% of the components and its technology for Electric Vehicles (like motor/controller/ converter/Battery Management System/ Charger) are being imported in our country which are not suitable as per our environment, road and traffic conditions. Therefore, to address this challenge and to increase the local manufacturing, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has initiated a programme for Indigenous Development of Electric Vehicle Sub-systems. Initially, technology development&nbsp;for 2W/3W has been taken up as it contributes to more than 80% of the vehicles on our roads.An Indigenous, Efficient, Affordable and Certified BLDC motor and smart controller for e-Rickshaws has been developed by IIT Kharagpur under the above mentioned program. Yesterday this technology was transferred to M/s Brushless Motor India Pvt Ltd. for commercial production&nbsp;in the gracious presence of Shri Alkesh Kumar Sharma, Secretary, MeitY, Dr. Jaideep Kumar Mishra, Additional Secretary, MeitY, Smt Sunita Verma, Group Cordinator (R&amp;D in Electronics), MeitY, Dr Somnath Sengupta, IIT Kharagpur and Shri Om Krishan Singh, Scientist D, MeitY. This technology transfer has happened as part of Digital India Week which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 4th July, 2022 at Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

New Delhi: Two men died while two others sustained severe injuries after an e-rickshaw overturned, and a speeding dumper coming from behind ran over the passengers in North Delhi, a Delhi Police official said on Tuesday.
According to police, on Monday a police control room call was received at 11: 05 p.m. that an e-rickshaw had overturned one person had died on the spot and three injuries were reported.
“Local police immediately reached the scene and transported a woman and two other injured individuals to a trauma center. Unfortunately, one of the injured persons succumbed to his injuries at the hospital,” said the Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) Sagar Singh Kalsi.&nbsp;
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the passengers were run over by a speeding vehicle, likely a dumper after the e-rickshaw overturned,” said the DCP.
The deceased individuals have been identified as Sanjeev (45), a resident of Swaroop Nagar, and Amar Singh (36), a resident of Nathupura.
Sanjeev, who was driving the e-rickshaw, worked for a catering contractor.
"A 45-year-old woman and another individual named Pappu (45), who works with a catering company, sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the hospital. All four individuals were returning from a catering job in Jahangir Puri,” said Kalsi.
“The crime scene has been inspected, and efforts are underway to locate the vehicle involved. The autopsies will be conducted on Tuesday,” the official added.&nbsp;

Patna: People in Patna were in for a harrowing time after the three-wheeler and e-rickshaw drivers went on a one-day strike on Tuesday.
The move comes after the Municipal Corporation of Patna removed their stands from Patna Junction and Tata Park in the city to rid the area of traffic snarls caused by the three-wheelers.
The drivers of three-wheelers would stop their vehicles at the junction and many other places leading to traffic jams. They occupy more than half of the roads at various places like Gandhi Maidan’s Kargil Chowk, Saguna Mor, Mithapur Chowk among others.
Owing to inadequate public transport facilities, the people could be seen walking on the streets to reach their destinations.
Even the state state road transport department does not have adequate buses in the fleet to provide a smooth transportation medium to common commuters.
The Patna metro is under construction. Even private taxis like Ola, Uber or bike taxis are not popular among common people. Majority of them do not know how to book them on apps.
The streets are wearing a deserted look as the three-wheelers and e-Rickshaw have completely pulled off from the streets.
Meanwhile, three wheeler association leaders believe that the act of municipal corporations has created a huge challenge to drivers of three wheelers and e-rickshaw to earn for their livelihood.
“We have resorted to strike for our rights to secure our lives. They have removed the stands from Patna
Junction and other places which led to huge loss of our earnings,” said Pappu Yadav, president of three-wheelers association of Patna.&nbsp;

New Delhi: A woman died while two others sustained severe burn injuries after an e-rickshaw burst into flames in northeast Delhi, an official said on Saturday.&nbsp;
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday near ESI Dispensary in Nand Nagri. The police suspect malfunctioning of the e-rickshaw battery behind the incident.
The officials said the injured were identified as Pushpraj (45), who sustained 85 per cent burn injuries, and 28-year-old Gaurav, who suffered 40 per cent burns.
Pushpraj's wife Omi Devi, who suffered 95 per cent burn injuries, succumbed to injuries during the treatment.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast), Joy Tirkey, said that on Thursday, they received information from GTB Hospital regarding three persons who had sustained burn injuries after becoming trapped inside a burning e-rickshaw.
"It was learnt that all three e-rickshaw occupants were moving in a battery-operated e-rickshaw from Mandoli Chungi to Shahdara. When they reached near the ESI dispensary in D block, Nand Nagri, smoke began to emanate from the e-rickshaw," said the DCP.
The passengers alerted the driver, who quickly abandoned the rickshaw.
Before the passengers could escape, the e-rickshaw burst into flames.
"The area SDM was informed, and the victims' statements were recorded in his presence. A case was registered under Sections 285, 287, and 337 of the Indian Penal Code at Nand Nagri police station, and the accused driver, Ratan Lal, a resident of Mandoli village, was arrested," said the DCP.
"Furthermore, on Friday, Omi Devi, who had sustained 95 per cent burn injuries, succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. Section 304A IPC was added to the case accordingly," said the DCP.
"On the same day, Pushpraj was transferred to the AIIMS from GTB Hospital. The cause of the fire appears to be a malfunctioning battery of the e-rickshaw," the DCP added.
