Madhya Pradesh : The police have arrested nine persons in connection with the death of two tribal men who&nbsp;were allegedly assaulted by a group of people over suspicion of cow slaughter in Madhya Pradesh's Seoni district, an official said on Wednesday.The two tribal men died on Tuesday morning after some people, allegedly belonging to the Bajrang Dal, beat them up over suspicion of cow slaughter in Simaria village under Kurai police station limits.After the incident, a group led by opposition Congress legislator Arjun Singh Kakodia staged a six-hour-long protest on the Jabalpur-Nagpur highway on Tuesday, demanding job and financial assistance for the kin of the deceasedThey ended the protest after an assurance from the district administration.Local MP and Union minister Faggan Singh Kulaste said it is yet not clear whether the accused belonged to any organisation.The dispute started over meat (of cow) and it would not be correct as of now to say that any organisation is involved in the incident, Kulaste told reporters on Tuesday night in Seoni.&nbsp;He said action will be taken on the basis of an inquiry and nobody, irrespective of their association, will be spared.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;According to an FIR registered following a complaint by Brajesh Batti, who was injured in the incident, a group of 15-20 people allegedly hit Sampatlal Batti, a resident of Sagar village, and Simaria resident Dhansay Inwati with sticks after accusing them of cow slaughter, between 2.30 am and 3 am on Tuesday.&nbsp;When Brajesh Batti arrived at the spot, he too was assaulted.Inwati and Sampatlal Batti died around 6 am on Tuesday during treatment in hospital, the complainant said.Following the incident, the police arrested Sher Singh Rathore (28), Ajay Sahu (27), Vedant Chouhan (18), Deepak Avadhia (38), Basant Raghuvanshi (32) and Raghunandan Raghuvanshi (20), all of whom have been named in the FIR, the police said in a press release.&nbsp;Three suspects -- Anshul Chourasia (22), Shivraj Raghuvanshi (23) and Rinku Pal (30) -- were also arrested, the police said, adding that a hunt was on for others involved in the incident.Meanwhile, the district administration in an official release said financial assistance worth Rs 8.25 lakh has been approved for the kin of each of the deceased.Also, Sampatlal Batti's daughter Sunita Batti has been appointed as a daily wage employee at a tribal girls' hostel in Barelipar village, and Dhansay Inwati's son Jaiprakash has been appointed as a daily wager at a higher secondary school in Vijaypani village, the release said.Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Kamal Nath has constituted a committee of three-party legislators -- Omkar Singh, Dr Ashok Marskole and Narayan Patta, all belonging to the tribal community -- to look into the incident, Nath's media coordinator and state Congress spokesman Narendra Saluja said.State Bharatiya Janata Party president VD Sharma termed the incident as "inhuman" and assured that his party and government in the state will not spare any of the culprits—PTI

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs to relax requisite minimum educational qualification from 10th class pass to eighth class for the recruitment of 400 candidates as constable (general duty) in CRPF from three districts of Chhattisgarh — Bijapur, Dantewada and Sukma through recruitment rally. “Four hundred tribal youth from interior areas of three districts namely Bijapur, Dantewada and Sukma of Chhattisgarh will get employment opportunities. Appropriate relaxation in physical standards for recruitment will also be given by the Ministry of Home Affairs,” a statement said.The decision was taken at a meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a statement, the cabinet said that apart from issuing advertisements in local newspapers and adopting all means for wider publicity of this rally in these interior areas of these three districts, CRPF would subsequently impart formal education during the probation period to these newly recruited trainees. The CRPF is one of Central Armed Police Forces, basically meant for duties like maintenance of law and order, tackling counter insurgency and maintaining internal security.In the instant case, CRPF proposes to recruit 400 native tribal youths as constables (general duty), from the relatively backward areas of Chhattisgarh.They will be confirmed in service only after acquiring the prescribed minimum educational qualification of standard 10th pass, thus formal education will be given to these recruits and CRPF would extend all possible support like providing study material, books and coaching assistance during their probation period. The probation period may be extended suitably, if required, to facilitate new recruits to acquire the prescribed education qualification.In order to facilitate them to take the 10th standard exam, these recruits will be registered with the National Institute of Open Schools recognized by the Central or State government. CRPF during 2016-2017 had raised one Bastariya Battalion by recruiting Scheduled Tribe candidates from four districts namely, Bijapur, Dantewada, Narayanpur and Sukma of Chhattisgarh. However, it could not yield optimum results as native youths from interior areas could not compete in the recruitment process due to non-fulfilling of requisite educational qualification of 10th pass.—IANS

Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday said that the state government is now economically rehabilitating 37,136 Reang tribals, displaced from neighbouring Mizoram, and for this purpose the Centre has sanctioned a Rs 600 crore package.
The Reang tribals, including women and children, have taken shelter in Tripura after they fled from their home state following ethnic troubles in 1997.
Hoisting the national flag on the occasion of the Independence Day at the Assam Rifles ground, the Chief Minister said that the work for the Agartala (India)-Akahura (Bangladesh) railway line are underway and the works in the Indian territory would be completed in June next year.
The Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) is now laying tracks for the 12.03-km long new Agartala-Akahura broad gauge railway line at a cost of Rs 967.5 crore.
He said that a Special Economic Zone is being set up in southern Tripura's Sabroom and it would facilitate international trade using the Chittagong international sea port and attract private investment.
The Chittagong port is just 72 km away from Sabroom.
The Chief Minister said that to empower the women, Tripura State Policy for Empowerment of Women-2022 has undertaken and a series of schemes announced for the empowerment and welfare of women.
Saha, who also holds the home portfolio, said that for better management of the law and order, his government has taken many steps including the installation of 400 CCTV across the state, creation of two more Tripura State Rifles (TSR) battalions and appointment of special executives.
A centre has been set up in the Tripura Institute of Technology to train-up the students on drone technology, he stated.
Independence Day is being celebrated across Tripura through hundreds of events, including blood donation camps, sports meets, exhibitions on developmental aspects, various other competitions, bike and cycle rallies.&nbsp;

Hyderabad: The Thotis are one of the endangered tribal communities decreasing in their population.
As per the census 2021, the population of Thotis is 4,811 only. Their living traditions are endangered since only a few community members practice traditional occupations.&nbsp;
Documenting and safeguarding their living traditions is an important task and need of the hour.
Department of Design, Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad, has taken the initiative to research, document and preserve the traditional practices of the Thoti community residing in the Adilabad district of Telangana.
The Thotis are a tribal community associated with the Raj Gonds. The traditional occupation of the Thotis was singing ‘Gond Gatha’, keeping the history of the Gondwana kingdom alive in the form of oral history. Thotis sustained their livelihood depending on the Gond patrons.
The women belonging to the community are the traditional tattoo makers. They performed the conventional tattoo making among the Gond women as a part of healing and remedies. The conventional practices of the Thotis are declining gradually; few families are still continuing the generation-old practices along with them and safeguarding their traditions by keeping them alive.
Under the guidance and principal investigation of Professor Deepak John Mathew, the research team conducted a field visit to the Thoti Guda at Tosham Village at Gudihatnur Mandal, Adilabad district. The traditional music of Thotis has been recorded using advanced technologies to preserve the intangible cultural heritage of the Thoti community.
Speaking about the project, Prof Deepak John Mathew, Head, Department of Design, said: “This documentary beautifully describes the age-old traditions &amp; science behind it. Our objective is to showcase these amazing techniques and help the community to sustain its cultural values. It is also a step towards connecting our today’s city generation to the rich cultural &amp; social heritage of these communities”.
“We define IITH as Inventing &amp; Innovating in Technology for Humanity. Preserving Traditions &amp; Cultural Heritage using the Design Concept &amp; encouraging future generations to sustain them fulfils our motto. IITH also has a Rural Development Centre to uplift rural livelihood with the aid of technology. We also have a Department of Heritage Science and Technology, which has similar objectives.”, added Prof B S Murty, Director, IIT Hyderabad.&nbsp;
