New delhi: The CBI has filed a new chargesheet against fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi, months after Interpol lifted a Red Corner Notice (RCN) on him for allegedly pledging lab-grown diamonds valued at 98% less than what was anticipated to secure a loan of Rs 25 crore from the IFCI in 2016.
In a chargesheet filed before a special CBI court in Mumbai, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) alleged that Choksi's company, Gitanjali Gems, borrowed money from the Industrial Finance Corporation of India (IFCI) by using as collateral 896 pieces of studded jewellery estimated to be worth more than Rs 45 crore.
As the loan account became a non-performing asset (NPA), the IFCI began taking steps to realise the pledged jewellery, but it received a harsh awakening when updated values revealed the jewellery was worth 98% less than expected.—Inputs from Agencies

London: The legendary British rock band Rolling Stones have announced their first new album in over 18 years, titled ‘Hackney Diamonds’.
This marks the first time the band will be releasing a brand new LP with original material.
In a live conversation with late-night host Jimmy Fallon, the British group --comprised of lead vocalist Mick Jagger, guitarist Ronnie Wood, writer and guitarist Keith Richards and drummer Steve Jordan -- announced ‘Hackney Diamonds’ will come out October 20, Aceshowbiz reported.
The album will be a 12-track, LP is their first studio set of new material since 2005's ‘A Bigger Bang’. In addition, the band also unveiled the first single from their album, ‘Angry’, which is accompanied by a music video starring ‘Euphoria’ actress Sydney Sweeney and directed by Francois Rousselet.
Wood said they began brainstorming ideas for an album around Christmas last year, and gave themselves a deadline to complete it by Valentine's Day. They ended up with 23 songs spanning two albums. The upcoming album was completed in January and mixed in February.
The band confirmed that their late drummer and one of their original members Charlie Watts -- who died from cancer aged 80 in August 2021 -- features on two tracks, with replacement Steve Jordan playing on the other 10.
On the song ‘Live By The Sword’, they are backed by both Charlie and former bassist Bill Wyman, reuniting the original rhythm section of The Rolling Stones. The second song featuring Charlie is ‘Mess It Up’.
Discussing how Charlie's absence affected the band, guitarist Keith, 79, said: "Ever since Charlie's gone it's different, of course, he's number four, he's missing. Of course he's missed, incredibly. But thanks to Charlie Watts we have Steve Jordan -- who was Charlie's recommendation should anything happen to him, Steve Jordan is your man. It would have been a lot harder without Charlie's blessing."
Addressing Charlie's musical contribution, Mick, 80, added, "There's 12 tracks on the album. Most are with Steve, but two are tracks we recorded in 2019 with Charlie. We used two of the tracks that we recorded with Charlie before. Bill played on one track, so we have the original Rolling Stones rhythm section on one track."
In addition, Lady Gaga also appears on the album, singing a duet with Mick Jagger on the song ‘Sweet Sound Of Heaven’. Other guest artistes who will participate in the album include Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder.
The Stone’s frontman went on to say that the band members are very proud of the record and wouldn't have released it unless they loved it themselves.
Mick Jaeger said: "I don't want to be big headed but we wouldn't have put this album out if we hadn't really liked it. We said we had to make a record. We really love ourselves. We are quite pleased with it, we are not big headed about it, but we hope you all like it."
Rolling Stones are not only of the most iconic rock bands of all time from the 1960’s and ‘70s, where they are frequently put in the list alongside The Beatles, The Doors, AC/DC, KISS, Rainbow, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, Deep Purple, King Crimson, Black Sabbath and many more; they are also one of the best selling artistes of all time, having sold over 250-300 million albums worldwide. Jeddah: Pep Guardiola wants his Manchester City side to "close the little circle" on City’s incredible success in recent seasons and claim the only trophy they are yet to win at the FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia this week.  City have qualified for the Club World Cup for the first time ever, entering at the semi-final stage after winning the UEFA Champions League in June.  Guardiola has overseen the most trophy laden period in the Club’s history, collecting 15 major honours since arriving in Manchester in 2016.  That leaves the Club World Cup, which City have not previously competed in, as the only trophy outstanding from his time in England.  Now Guardiola wants his Treble-winners to become the first side in English history to win the quintet of Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in the space of 12 months.  Speaking in the pre-match press conference at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, the boss reflected on previous entries with Barcelona and emphasised his desire to add to the Club’s magnificent haul during his reign.  "We want to win it. Once we are here, it is a trophy we do not have. We want to close the little circle and win all the trophies we could do. This is the last one. "In the Premier League you have another game in three days. Here it may be another lifetime," Guardiola told City's club website ahead of Tuesday's semifinal against Japanese side Urawa Red Diamonds in Jeddah.  While City will be favourites to beat Urawa Red Diamonds in the semifinals, Guardiola is not expecting an easy tie. "To see the Japanese national team, they know the games and they beat Germany - look at the World Cup," he said.  "Football in Japan grew up incredibly in the past 10 years. They are sharp and quick on the transitions and unpredictable in many cases. I respect them a lot and of course I want to be in the final next Friday of the Club World Cup," he added.  City have been through a period of indifferent form in the Premier League-- winning one, drawing four and losing one of our last six domestic fixtures-- leaving them on fourth place as they seek to win a record fourth successive title.  The 52-old has urged his players to put those recent results to the back of their mind and focus on the job of winning the Club World Cup.  “It’s a different competition. Whatever happens here will be different to when we return and play Everton, Sheffield United and Newcastle.  “Except the Aston Villa game, our performance was excellent in many ways but we have to be better at managing games. But hopefully we can maintain passion and desire tomorrow against Urawa,” he added.
