Lucknow: As many as 1,477 engineering graduates have turned cops in Uttar Pradesh.This is the first time when so many candidates from technical background have been selected in the police force.Significantly, 125 selected candidates are BCA degree holders, while 43 have done BBA.In its biggest drive to recruit sub-inspectors and officers of equivalent ranks, the state government has selected 9,534 candidates, of which 1,477 are techies.Of the total posts, 9,027 will join as sub-inspectors in civil police, 484 as platoon commanders in PAC, and 23 as fire sub-station officers in the Fire department.Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Avanish Awasthi said: "In keeping with Yogi Adityanath's 100-day campaign to provide employment to the youth in the police department, the target of recruitment to 10,000 posts has been completed before the scheduled time."He added that the state would also get 1,805 women sub-inspectors which would be a historic achievement in terms of women empowerment as well as women's safety and interests."Recruitment of a total of 500 candidates on compassionate grounds has also been made," he added. Director General of the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB), R.K. Vishwakarma said that earlier a maximum of 1,000 or 1,500 posts of sub-inspectors were created, but for the first time 9,534 posts had been filled."As many as 12.5 lakh candidates had appeared for the online examination held from November 12 to December 2, 2021. The results were declared in April and document verification was done in May," he said."For the first time, we have got SIs who are qualified in the technical field and are very young. Around 60 per cent of those recruited are in the age group of 21-25 years."We have also started the recruitment of 829 SIs in civil police and of 1,329 clerical posts. The selection process for 40,000 other posts is also under way," he added.Uttar Pradeh Police have recruited 1.75 lakh cops in all its wings on different ranks since Yogi first took office in 2017.As many as 46 defunct PAC units were restored on the Chief Minister's directives and all the required resources were arranged for its efficient working. —IANS

New Delhi (The Hawk): Jyotiraditya Scindia, the minister of civil aviation, paid an unexpected visit to the Delhi airport on Monday amid growing complaints about disorder and improper crowd control there.According to sources, the Minister and senior officials took note of the numerous factors and gave instructions to the officials and airport operator to act right away to improve crowd control, particularly during peak hours.According to sources, the officials have been told to expand the number of check-in stations and entry gates, as well as the number of machines there. Additionally, it has been suggested to the relevant authorities that they reduce the number of flights during the busiest period.The civil aviation ministry and airport operator DIAL had created a 4-point action plan earlier this week as urgent corrective actions at the Delhi airport.The idea calls for adding two more X-ray screening systems to the 14 that are already in place. With this, there will be 16 X-ray systems altogether. Two common X-ray machines will be added, one ATRS machine will be removed, and the Reserve Lounge will be demolished. Two access points were also included in the proposal. Gates 1A and 8B will be modified for passenger use and flight debunching in order to gradually cut the number of peak hour departures to 14.As travellers faced lengthy lines and extended wait times inside the airport grounds, complaints about disorder and poor crowd management at the Delhi airport continued to flood in.The last several days have seen a steady increase in aviation traffic, and major airports, notably Delhi and Mumbai, have begun to experience lengthier lines of air travellers. Even on weekdays, the number of air travellers passing through airports has already surpassed the four lakh threshold.With over 1,100 flights per day, Delhi Airport is one of the busiest in the nation. T3 is the busiest of the terminals, handling over 250 foreign flights and close to 500 domestic flights between December 1 and 7. According to sources, the operators have decided to move the planes from the T3 terminal due to the crowd.In a crucial meeting with various stakeholders earlier this week on December 7, Union Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia discussed the capacities deployed and requirements to process air passengers smoothly after taking note of the difficulties faced by travellers at congested airports in the nation. New Delhi: In a big relief to Bihar Cricket Association president Rakesh Tiwari, the Patiala House Courts has accepted the closure report of the Delhi Police in connection with a molestation cum attempt to rape case filed against him by a woman.
The court also dismissed the protest petition filed by the woman.
The court noted that it would be in grave injustice, if the accused (Rakesh Tiwari) was unnecessarily harassed in judicial proceedings.
"The FIR was registered after eight months. The CDR and CAF of the mobile phones did not corroborate the statements of the complainant and that the complainant had given changed versions of the incident. The fact that there was an FIR registered against the complainant under Section 384 IPC was also considered by the Hon'ble Delhi High Court.
"In light of the above circumstances, the inconsistent statements and stance of the complainant herself and the other material on record, this court is of the view that there is nothing to proceed further against the accused. In absence of any material against him, it would be in grave injustice if the accused is unnecessarily harassed in judicial proceedings. The closure report filed by the police is therefore, accepted and the protest petition filed by the complainant is dismissed," the court noted in its order.
Meanwhile, speaking to IANS, Rakesh Tiwari said, "This woman... is involved in 13 cases. She was declared a PO by Ambala Court in a case lodged against her. She along with O.P. Tiwari had been running a racket and was trying to extort money. When O.P. Tiwari was placed under suspension, he and Chitra tried to frame us. Finally they have been exposed," said Rakesh Tiwari.
The Delhi Police had in October conducted raids in Patna at the house of Om Prakash Tiwari, an official with the Bihar Cricket Association Council.
O.P. Tiwari reportedly lives at Deep Leela Apartment in Kadamkuan area where the Delhi Police official with the help of Bihar Police had conducted a raid. Delhi Police lodged an FIR of extortion against O.P. Tiwari, who had allegedly tried to frame Rakesh Tiwari in the sexual harassment case.
In the case, the Delhi Police initially lodged an FIR with the Parliament Police Station and later filed a closer report before the Patiala House Court which has now been accepted by the court.
The police had mentioned in the closer report that BCA president Tiwari was being targetted and there was no evidence against him. The police have also mentioned that the complainant and her brother were found to be lying. After this the police lodged an FIR of extortion against them.
The woman allegedly used to take money from the youngsters to help them get selected in BCCI matches. Accused O.P. Tiwari has strong links with them.
The woman has also given an affidavit to the police that she lodged the FIR after being misled by others. The police found that O.P. Tiwari was the mastermind behind all these.&nbsp;

 'Unnecessarily harassed', Delhi court accepts closure report in case against BCA chief

New Delhi: A man was arrested for cheating innocent people by projecting himself as a rich bachelor on a matrimonial site, and used expensive cars to impress his victims, a Delhi Police official said on Friday.

The accused identified as Vishal, a resident of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, further duped the victims by offering iPhones at cheaper rates and got the money transferred.

According to police, the complainant, a 26-year-old woman, reported to the police that her parents made her profile on a matrimony site, and she came across Vishal's profile.

"He projected himself as a HR professional having an income of Rs 50-70 lakh per annum. He won over her trust and convinced her to purchase iPhones at cheaper rates for her relatives and friends. She transferred a total of Rs 3,05,799 in eight transactions," said Jitendra Kumar Meena, Deputy Commissioner of Police (north-west).

"After blocking her on social media platforms, he informed her that he met with an accident and was admitted to a hospital in Jaipur, and stopped attending her calls," said the DCP.

"After some days of incident, posing as a decoy a request on the same matrimonial site was sent to the alleged man. He accepted the request and started influencing her in a similar manner, by projecting himself as a HR professional and rich bachelor. The decoy female asked him for a meeting and when he came to meet her, he was nabbed," said the official.

During interrogation, Vishal confessed to his involvement in this cheating and disclosed that after completion of his studies of BCA and MBA from Delhi, he worked as a HR professional in a MNC in Gurugram in 2018.

"Vishal left his job in 2021 and started his business by opening a restaurant in Gurugram, which was not successful. He made a profile on a matrimonial site -- Jeevnasathi.com -- and projected himself as a rich bachelor," said the official.

In order to create an impression, he hired an expensive car for 15 days through an app and paid Rs 2500 per day. He showed some villas and farmhouses as his properties in Gurugram and also projected his well-off business of a food chain in Gurugram, in order to win over the trust of families looking for suitable matches.

"He offered iPhone-14 pro max at a cheaper rate and convinced the victim to buy it, in order to earn profit," said the official, adding that further efforts are being made to trace his possible involvement in other similar complaints also and his bank account details are further being scrutinised. New Delhi [India]: A voter turnout of 60.52 per cent was recorded till 3 pm in 230 assembly constituencies in Madhya Pradesh elections which are underway on Friday, the Elections Commission of India said. Madhya Pradesh recorded a voter turnout of 45.40 per cent till 1 pm.
However, as per the poll commission, Agar Malwa of MP recorded 69.96 per cent of voter turnout, while Alirajpur recorded 50.66 per cent till 3 pm.
62.47 per cent voter turnout was recorded in Anuppur, 63.66 in Betul, 45.34 per cent in the capital city- Bhopal, and 67.09 per cent in former Chief Minister and Congress candidate Kamla Nath's constituency- Chhindwara. In Damoh it was recorded at 64.83 per cent, Datia at 58.34 per cent, Guna at 63.10 per cent while in Indore, it was 54.89 per cent till 3 pm. Voting for 230 Assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh began at 7 am on Friday. Madhya Pradesh is proving to be a tough fight for the BJP, with the fatigue factor associated with sitting Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who has been in power for close to two decades. Webcasting has also been made available at about 42,000 polling stations. Nearly 700 companies of the central forces and two lakh police personnel of the state have been deployed for security during the poll.  The election will decide the electoral fates of over 2,500 candidates. Nearly 5.59 crore voters are eligible to exercise their franchise. It includes 2.87 crore male and 2.71 crore women voters. There are over 5,000 booths run by women and 183 polling stations run by the disabled, officials said. The polls, coming nearly six months ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, are crucial for both the BJP and Congress for various reasons. The counting of votes for the five states including Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram will be done on December 3.
