The 'Badlapur' star, who is currently in Nainital for the shoot of his OTT debut 'Citadel', indulged himself in a cricket session with the crew during his spare time.
Taking to Instagram, Varun shared a string of pictures of him playing cricket.
Dressed in black shorts and a blue T-shirt, Varun exuded sporty vibes.
Speaking of 'Citadel', it is being created by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. The action-packed series also stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
It is an Indian adaptation of the Russo Brothers' series of the same name. Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden are headlining the international version.
Excited about his OTT debut and that too with the Indian installment of Citadel, Varun earlier said, "Prime Video is like home to me, and I am thrilled to begin this journey in the streaming space with them. Citadel is an exceptionally ambitious and exciting franchise, and to be part of this magnificent universe, conceptualised by the Russo Brothers' AGBO and Jennifer Salke, is a landmark moment in my career."
The release date of the Indian version of Citadel is awaited, while Priyanka Chopra-starrer Citadel will drop on April 28 on Prime Video. —ANI

Varun Dhawan Turns Cricketer On The Sets Of 'Citadel'

Nainital: Nainital bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has issued a contempt notice to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Secretary Leena Nandan on the issue of deputation of Uttarakhand cadre IFS officer Sanjiv Chaturvedi into Institution of Lokpal.
The notice was issued on a contempt petition filed by the officer in which he had alleged wilful disobedience of the order of September 1 last year passed by the Tribunal.
A division bench of Justice Om Prakash and Administrative Member, Mohan Pyare reserved the judgment on February 20 while hearing the petition, which was later pronounced on Wednesday.
"From a perusal of the judgement of September 1, 2022, it is evident that this Tribunal had directed the respondent to decide the representation of the applicant but the respondent has not passed any order whereas the order of October 3, 2022, has been passed by the Director (IFS), Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change," it said.
The tribunal further directed Leena Nandan to file a 'compliance report within a period of four weeks' and directed the matter to be listed on March 23.
In this matter, Sanjiv Chaturvedi had applied for deputation into Lokpal in Central Government in 2019 which the Government of Uttarakhand forwarded with their No Objection Certificate (NOC) and recommendation on December 23, 2019, to Nandan.
However, no decision was taken on the matter and the officer filed a petition before CAT in February 2020, for issuing directions to the Secretary.
In September 2022, Tribunal gave eight weeks' time to Nandan to take a decision in the matter or forward the case of the officer to Lokpal if they are of the view that the decision in the matter lies with the office of Lokpal.
However, on October 3 last year, instead of Secretary, Director (IFS) passed the order returning the case of the officer even after noting that, 'as per section 10(iii) of the Lokpal and Lokayukta Act, the appointment of officers and other staff shall be made by the Chairperson, Lokpal.'
Against this order, the officer had filed a contempt petition before Tribunal in December 2022 which came up for hearing in February 2022. Sanjiv Chaturvedi, an officer of the 2002 batch of the Indian Forest Service (IFS), had applied for Central Deputation in the organization of Lokpal in 2019 which was forwarded by the Uttarakhand government, with no objection certificate or recommendations on December 23, 2019, and since then the application was pending with Ministry of Environment, Forest &amp; Climate Change (MoEF &amp; CC).
Chaturvedi had earlier worked in the Government of Haryana and then as Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) at AIIMS, Delhi where he exposed many corruption cases. He was also given Ramon Magsaysay Award in July 2015 for his fight against corruption. —ANI

Nainital: The Uttarakhand High Court on Tuesday ordered strict action against all those who created violence during an agitation in Dehradun by unemployed youths against recruitment examination paper leaks.
"It appears that the mob agitating against paper leak resorted to violence. No matter what the issue, it cannot be used as an excuse to resort to violence, destroy public property, or create public nuisance," a division bench of the high court comprising Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Alok Kumar Verma observed.
"The petitioner has a fundamental right to protest in a peaceful manner after obtaining proper permission from the administration. Therefore, we reject the demand for action against the police. We direct the government to take appropriate and strict action against all those involved in violence or arson," it said.
The order came on a petition demanding a CBI probe into recruitment exam paper leaks and action against police personnel who resorted to lathicharge against protesting youths.
The high court also asked the petitioner to file a rejoinder to the counter affidavit filed by the state government in the case. —PTI

Nainital: Fire broke out in a market in Nainital on Sunday morning after which several fire tenders reached the spot and controlled the situation, the officials informed.
The incident occurred at around 3 am on Sunday.

Nainital: A sudden fire ravaged Nainital's Vikram Vintage Hotel on Friday evening.
Soon after getting information about the incident, several fire tenders rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control.
According to the fire department, the fire brigade personnel with the help of the hotel personnel brought the fire under control after a lot of effort.
So far, there are no reports of casualties.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Nainital: Nainital is fully prepared for the celebration of the New Year. Tourists have arrived in Nainital on New Year's Eve and accordingly, hotels have made special arrangements for them.
"Love coming to Nainital on December 31 despite the crowd," said Mehak Advani, a tourist.
"We are fond of hill stations and came to see snowfall. Not being able to see snow is disappointing. We are here to spend some time together. It's a very beautiful place. We plan to start our new year in Nainital," said Hitanshi Sharma, a tourist, who came along with her group.
The police have also made special arrangements with the traffic plan. The municipality has also made arrangements to save the tourists from the cold.
"The traffic flow is normal currently. Just in case traffic increases, tourists will be stopped at the Rusi By-Pass and will be brought up using shuttles," said Deepak Bisht, SSI Kotwali Nainital
"Those commuters who have not made the bookings would be returned from Kaladhungi and Tiraha," Deepak Bisht added.
Around 6 pm the areas between Ghoda Stand and Mall Road shall be closed. After this, the movement of cars would not be allowed on the mall road, he further informed.
Notably, the municipality has also made arrangements to protect tourists from the cold.&nbsp;
