New Delhi (The Hawk): The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi, will launch the "AIIMS Smart Card" facility in partnership with the State Bank of India in an effort to make payments simple for patients.

Beginning on April 1, 2023, the AIIMS Finance Division will launch the "AIIMS Smart Card" facility in partnership with the SBI.

Patients and their companions frequently travel great distances and wait in lines to pay for various investigations and procedures or to purchase snacks or food in the cafeteria, among other things. Since the majority of payments are made in cash, it has been decided that the Finance Division of AIIMS shall work with State Bank of India to introduce the "AIIMS Smart Card" facility for patients and their companions.

According to the leading health organisation, arrangements will be made to install payment end points at various locations within AIIMS, including in all patient care areas, the cafeteria, etc., and this service will be seamlessly integrated with the hospital's existing billing facility.

The hospital stated that once the service is stabilised, only the "AIIMS Smart Card" top up counters, which will be operationalized in multiple locations throughout the OPDs, Hospital & Centers and operate on a 24x7 basis, will accept cash payments.

The "AIIMS Smart Card" shall be the sole method of payment for all investigations and procedures, other than electronic payments made via UPI, debit/credit cards, etc. According to AIIMS, all payments must be made at the payment end points that have been installed at the patient location. Patients or their guests cannot be required to make payments at the central registration counters.
