Mandsaur: Two minor sisters and another girl drowned while taking bath in a pond in Madhya Pradesh's Mandsaur district on Tuesday, police said.The incident took place around 8 am in the water body located near Dalawada village under Sitamau police station limits, about 30 km from the district headquarters, assistant sub-inspector O P Thakur said.While taking bath, one of the girls started drowning. Two others tried to save her, but all three of them drowned, the official said.The deceased have been identified as Gayatri (13), her sister Aarti (15) and another girl Radha (14). New Delhi: Delhi Police has arrested a 38-year-old man — accused of trafficking, raping and forcing minor girls to work as maids, and was evading his arrest since 2014, an official said on Friday.The accused, identified as Brahma Dev Chaudhary, was previously booked under sections of rape, POCSO Act and child labour act. Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest) Usha Rangnani said both the cases in which the accused was involved were solved by the police in 2014-15.Consequently, he was declared Proclaimed Offender in both the above-mentioned cases, and he was frequently changing his locations to shield himself from the eyes of police. After a long trail, he was apprehended from a place near Sarita Vihar Metro Station through technical surveillance as well as local intelligence. He had come there to meet one of his acquaintances. Sharing details of the case lodged around 8 years ago, the DCP said in August 2014, a rape and POCSO case was registered in which victim minor girl aged 13 years alleged that she belongs to a poor family of Assam and was trafficked by the accused person from Assam to Delhi on the pretext of job. She was kept in a ‘Kothi’ for working as a maid. She had worked there for 7-8 days and then returned to ‘placement agency’ office of the accused person at Shakurpur where she was raped by him. She was again employed at a Kothi at Pitampura where she worked for 12-13 days. She, however, managed to escape from there and reached the police station for complaint.Next year, in February 2015, another rape case was registered in which a minor girl aged 15 years alleged that she was trafficked by Chaudhary from Assam to Delhi. He kept her in a house at Shakurpur, Delhi where she was raped and forcefully employed by him as a maid at 2-3 locations of Delhi. She also managed to escape from a house in Greater Kailash where she was employed, and approached the police. Brahmdev Chaudhary was absconding since registration of both cases, and was finally nabbed in Delhi after 8 years.During questioning, he revealed his involvement in both cases and it was found that after changing many locations, he was currently residing as a tenant at a house in Surya Vihar, Faridabad. He was also not in contact with his family members for a long time. The accused was presented at a court here which sent him to judicial custody.—IANS

Police said the Fire and Rescue personnel at Cuddalore rushed to the spot and tried to save the girls but could not. They retrieved their bodies later. New Delhi: Delhi Police on Wednesday finally lodged an FIR against security guard of a Girl's PG hostel who was caught assaulting a girl on camera in an inebriated condition in Central Delhi's Karol Bagh.
"Since the complainant is completely against giving a statement, legal opinion was taken and as per legal opinion and in light of the video footage, an FIR is being registered suo motto by police in this matter," a senior police official said.
On Tuesday, Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal had written a letter to the Delhi Police asking why no action was taken in the matter.&nbsp;
The Delhi Commission for Women had issued notice to Delhi Police after taking suo-moto cognisance of a video posted on Twitter regarding molestation of girl in the Golds Villa PG, Karol Bagh.
A video was tweeted in which the security guard could be seen grabbing a woman and molesting her.
Earlier, a complaint was made to the owner but no action was taken.&nbsp;

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to conduct a workshop for about 10,000 girls in September to empower girls and impart self-defence skills.
This will be held under its flagship women empowerment programme -- Mission Shakti, said a government spokesperson.&nbsp;
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath's ambitious Mission Shakti aims to ensure safety, dignity and self-reliance for women from all sections of society.
The seven-day workshop module for self-defence training will be designed by the Sports and Fitness Sector Skill Council and conducted across 75 districts of the state, said the spokesperson.
The safety of women is a top priority for the state government. With this self-defence programme, the government seeks to prepare women to protect themselves from any kind of assault or threat.
Mission Director, UP Skill Development Mission (UPSDM), Andra Vamsi, in a statement, said, "This programme will help build girls' confidence and enable them to face any difficult situation. The trainees will be taught ways to tackle perpetrators."
After the training, a self-defence kit will be provided to the participants to help them guard against a criminal assault or any such unforeseen threat.
The UPSDM will bear the cost of the training.
The objective of the workshop is to empower girls and enable them to protect themselves against real-life scenarios such as sexual assaults, kidnapping, molestation, bullying, and other such crimes.&nbsp;

Lucknow: An undergraduate student of a private university here consumed poison after receiving rape and death threats from six of her batch mates, including three girls.
The matter came to light on Monday when a video of the girl went viral on social media in which she narrated her ordeal from the hospital bed.
DCP East Zone, Prachi Singh, said that based on the complaint given by the girl's brother, an FIR under the charges of rioting, voluntarily causing hurt, intentional insult and criminal intimidation has been lodged against the six students and a probe is underway.
According to the FIR, the girl, who belongs to Mau, is a student of B.Com III and resides in the hostel of the university. On September 5, she was allegedly thrashed by her roommate, a B.Tech III student, over some dispute related to a phone call. The accused also broke her phone.
The girl then lodged a written complaint with the chief warden of the hostel following which she was allotted a separate room.
However, this infuriated the accused student and she along with five friends, two girls and three boys, intercepted her in the college canteen on September 8 and humiliated her with life and rape threats.
The brother claimed in the FIR that his sister slipped into depression after the humiliation and consumed a poisonous substance on September 9. The hostel warden rushed the girl to a nearby private hospital on Ayodhya Road and informed her family.
Her brother arrived in the city on the following day. The girl has been discharged after treatment from the hospital. —IANS

He assured them that the guilty will not be spared. Earlier, there were reports that the girl student had made videos of some women students and sent those to a youth in Shimla, who allegedly uploaded them on social media. The girl student was apprehended and an investigation into the matter was underway. Senior Superintendent of Punjab Police Vivek Soni, said "As per the investigation, the accused made her own video and no video of other students was made. There was no evidence so far. There is so much misinformation and rumours doing rounds. We should respect the modesty of the accused student as we are investigating the matter," he said.&nbsp;

At the knockout stage, Vidya advanced to quarter-finals and placed with one of the title contenders Narantuya Bayarsaikhan of Mongolia. Though she had such a tough opponent, Vidya showed the nerve of steel to defeat her 3-2 to confirm the medal for India.

Jhansi: The inmates of a hostel of Veerangna Jhalkari Bai Government Girls Polytechnic College in Uttar Pradesh‘s Jhansi had a spooky experience after which nearly 63 inmates left their rooms.&nbsp;
According to the girl inmates, they saw shadows, heard sounds of people running on the roof, experienced vigorous shaking of windows and fluctuating electricity, among others, on Wednesday evening.&nbsp;
The students submitted a complaint to the principal G.S. Yadav, and said that they would only return after consultation with their families.
A hostel inmate said, “Some local boys might have entered the hostel premises to scare us. The hostel is secluded with zero security on the campus. The only Prantiya Rakshak Dal guard is stationed nearly 150 metre from the hostel. Moreover, there are no CCTV cameras.”
The principal of the institution has said that an internal investigation has been launched into the incident.&nbsp;

 'Ghost' scares away girls from hostel in Jhansi

Jamshedpur: Ritu Mukhi, a student who committed self-immolation after being forced to undress on suspicion of cheating during her school's terminal examination, passed away on Thursday night. The victim, a class IX student of Jamshedpur's Saradamoni Girls' School had set herself ablaze after pouring kerosene after returning home on October 14. She was being treated at Tata Main Hospital (TMH) in Jamshedpur. Locals are furious over the death of the student. Acknowledging the tension, the district administration has deployed security forces from the hospital to the cremation ground. The last rites will be held on Friday afternoon.
Jamshedpur Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav reached TMH after receiving the news of the student's death. A medical board was formed and the deceased's post-mortem was conducted in the night itself. Taking cognizance of the incident, Chief Minister Hemant Soren had directed the Deputy Commissioner to provide all possible help to the victim's family and provide better treatment to the girl.
The police has arrested Chandra Das, the teacher who got the girl's clothes taken off to check for hidden notes allegedly used for copying in the exam. School principal Geeta Rani Mahato has been suspended. According to the victim's statement, the teacher accused her of cheating during the terminal examination and slapped her in front of everyone. Despite her protests, she searched her by forcing her to take off her clothes in front of everyone.
No notes were found on her, but she was taken to the principal's office. She felt humiliated and embarrassed by this incident, due to which she sent her sisters to a neighbour's house and set herself on fire after reaching home in the evening. Hearing her screams, the family and the neighbours reached the spot. The fire was doused by pouring water, following which she was admitted to TMH in a critical condition.

Jaipur: The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Friday constituted a two-member fact finding team to look into the matter of girls being auctioned off to settle disputes over loan repayments in Rajasthan's Bhilwara.
In a statement, the NCW said: "It has been further reported that in many settlements of the village, girls are sold for prostitution on stamp paper. In some cases, their mothers are subjected to rape on the diktats of caste panchayats for the settlement of disputes.
"The Commission has taken cognizance of the reported crime which is extremely appalling and traumatizing. The Commission has constituted a two-member fact finding ream to look into the matter. Chairperson Rekha Sharma has written to Chief Secretary, government of Rajasthan to take urgent action in the matter and apprise the Commission of the action taken.
"The Commission has also written to the Director General of Police, Rajasthan to immediately invoke relevant provisions in the FIR and to arrest all the accused at the earliest. A copy of the letter has also been sent to Superintendent of Police, Bhilwara."
On Thursday, the National Human Rights Commission India (NHRC) had also sent a notice to the state government in connection with the same matter.
In a statement, the NHRC said that it had taken "suo motu cognizance of a media report that in a half dozen districts of Rajasthan, the girls are sold on stamp paper and if not, their mothers are subjected to rape on the diktats of cast panchayats for the settlement of disputes".
"Reportedly, whenever there is a dispute between the two parties particularly involving financial transactions and loans etc, the girls aged between 8-18 are auctioned to recover money. These girls are being sent to Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Mumbai, Delhi and even foreign countries and subjected to physical abuse, torture and sexual assault in slavery. The media reports have documented the ordeal of many victims of such horrendous crimes.a
"The Commission has observed that the contents of the media report, if true, amount to human rights violations of the victims of the such abominable practice. Accordingly, it has issued a notice to the Chief Secretary of Rajasthan calling for a detailed report in the matter, along with an action taken report, measures already taken and if not, proposed to be taken to prevent such gory incidents," the statement added.
Meanwhile, the NHRC issued another notice to the Director General of Police, Rajasthan, to submit a detailed report mentioning the initiation of criminal prosecution against the perpetrators of such crime and their abettors/sympathizers.
"It must also contain the status of cases, including the registration of FIRs, charge-sheet, arrest, if any, in such incidents and the mechanism initiated to apprehend the people involved in such systematic crimes of flesh trade in the State. The report must also mention steps being taken or proposed to be taken against the public servant(s), who purported to have neglected perpetually prevention of such incidents. The response from both the Chief Secretary and DGP is excepted within four weeks."
The NHRC has also asked its Special Rapporteur Umesh Kumar Sharma to visit and inspect the affected areas and submit a comprehensive report at the earliest, preferably, not later than three months.
Citing a media report dated October 26, it said that the "caste panchayats in Rajasthan are committing this crime like Syria and Iraq where the girls are enslaved".
"Reportedly, in Bhilwada, whenever there is any dispute between the two parties, they instead of going to the police, approach the Caste Panchayats for its settlement. It becomes the starting point of making the girls slave, if they are not sold, their mothers are ordered to be raped."&nbsp;

Thiruvananthapuram (The Hawk): The National Eligibility Cumulative Entrance Test (NEET) this year was a major embarrassment and insult for the girls who travelled to Marthoma Institute of Information Technology in Ayur, Chadayamangalam, in Kerala's Kollam district. They were made to remove their undergarments before entering the examination hall by the invigilators.
At the metal detection step of the frisking operation, more than 100 female students were made to endure extreme humiliation and disrespect by being required to remove their underwear. Students claimed that before taking the exam, which required years of dedicated preparation, they had to go through psychological agony.
The NEET dress code prohibits students from wearing any metallic clothing or accessories inside the testing facility. Slippers and sandals are accepted in place of shoes.
A police report was made by the father of a student from Sooranad in the Kollam district who was made to take off her underwear. After submitting the police report, he spoke to the media and said: "My daughter was expecting a high rank in the exam and had been studying for the NEET since she was in eighth grade but this happened devastated her."
The Chadayamangalam police responded to his accusation by filing a case under Sections 354 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Following the complaint, five ladies were detained on July 19, 2022. Two Marthoma Institute of Technology employees and three members of the private security firm were among those detained.
More than 100 girls allegedly endured the humiliation in silence, according to the girl who filed the lawsuit. She continued, saying that the exam room included both boys and girls, that brassieres were thrown in a basket outside, and that she was ashamed to take the test without undergarments.
There is no requirement that underwear be removed in order to take the NEET exam, according to the National Testing Agency (NTA), which administers the test.
It's interesting to note that the security personnel assigned by the NTA to the exam duty were unaware of the trauma being experienced by the pupils during a test where good mental health is a crucial component of success.
Dr. R. Bindhu, the minister of higher education for Kerala, had personally brought up the subject with the union education minister, and later, V. Muraleedharan, the union minister of state for external affairs, also brought it up.
Professor Subadra N. of a government college in Kerala said to IANS: "Let's hope that the NTA and the college administration that oversees the exam show more restraint and use judgement before taking such severe measures in the upcoming year. Additionally, they should take more care when hiring security personnel because they should know at the very least how crucial these exams are to the future of these students and how many years of perseverance, patience, and arduous study would have been wasted due to the foolish actions of these so-called security personnel hired from some unregistered private agencies."
She argued that educators and those in charge of the exam's administration must properly scout the test and remove any unwelcome features from the NEET exam centres.

Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh (The Hawk): Police in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri at the Sharda river bank in Dhakiya village within the Bhira Kotwali boundaries reported that two young girls were killed after being buried behind a mound of loose soil.
Poonam Devi, 12 years old, and Shivani, 13 years old, were named as the deceased.
Later, the townspeople came to the aid of three additional girls—Nikki, Nayra, and Nainsi—who had also been buried beneath the rubble.
Ingrid Kotwali The bodies were given to the parents after they rejected having a post-mortem performed, according to the person in charge, Vimal Kumar Gautam.
The five girls, according to the locals, had gone to the Sharda river to get dirt so they could repair their houses.
The Sharda River is located in the community a hundred metres from where people live.
The girls all chose locations close to the river, and as they began to dig in the ground, a temporary building above them shattered and fell on the girls.
When the townspeople heard their cries, they rushed to their aid and were able to free them from the loose soil.
While four others were brought to a neighbouring primary health centre at Bijua, Poonam had died from suffocation.
During treatment, Shivani also passed away.

When the girls of Channahalli Tanda saw their brother in danger of drowning, they jumped into action to save him. The three sisters perished in the process, though.
According to the authorities, the deceased have been named as Abhi (13), Ashwini (14), Kaveri (18), and Apoorva (18).
Three bodies have been recovered by the emergency services, including the police, fire department, and ambulance.
According to the authorities, they are looking for Apporva's body.
There has been a case filed, and an investigation is ongoing.

On November 17, a complaint was lodged by the Principal of Bhalla Inter College, Haridwar against the professor, identified as Sunil Kumar, at the Nagar Kotwali police station for mental and physical harassment of girl students, read a statement issued by the police.
On receiving the complaint, a probe was ordered. The municipal commissioner took regular updates on the conduct of the investigation. Police sources further informed that on confirmation of the crime, the accused professor was suspended and a case against him was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Speaking on the matter, the Superintendent of Police (Crime), Haridwar, Rekha Yadav said, "Today, the absconding professor was arrested from his sister's residence in Saharanpur." "In view of the seriousness of the complaint against him, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Haridwar, Ajay Singh formed a team to arrest the accused professor," the SP added. "While taking the statements of the Principal and fellow faculty members, we learned that obscene messages had been sent by the accused to girl students on WhatsApp," the SP said, adding, "The girls went into depression after being targeted by the accused professor."
The police added that the victims are in no position record their statements in the case. —ANI

Bengaluru (The Hawk): Hindu organisations have warned of widespread protests in response to the state's governing BJP government's decision to create 10 new institutions exclusively for Muslim females.
However, sources stated that the government is pressing forward with its choice and has allocated a Rs 2.50 billion grant, adding that Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai is scheduled to lay the cornerstone for the colleges this month.
The sources further stated that the colleges will initially be constructed in the Malnad and north Karnataka districts before subsequently expanding.
The recommendation for the exclusive institutions was made by the Board, according to Maulana Shafi Saadi, Chairperson of the Karnataka Wakf Board, and the decision was made after a significant number of Muslim females chose to stay at home because wearing a headscarf is not permitted on college grounds.
The suggestion was delivered to Smriti Irani, the Union Minister for Women and Child Development. He added that Kalaburagi MP Umesh Jadhav and Karnataka Minister for Muzrai Shashikala Jolle headed the delegation.

But the news has stirred up a commotion in the state.

Pramod Muthalik, the founder of the Sri Rama Sena, has said that the state's current administration should not permit the construction of the colleges.

Leaders of the BJP in North Goa's coastal zone are up in arms against the nuisance, claiming that it tarnishes the image of the coastal state.
Along with Goa's BJP MLA Michael Lobo, Joseph Sequeira, sarpanch of the Calangute constituency in North Goa, has urged that the state police take action against the proliferation of illegal dance bars in their area.
These elected officials have also demanded action in a letter to the state administration and the Director General of Police.
According to our sources, not only in Calangute, but everywhere there is a large number of domestic tourists, these dance bars are operating under restaurant licences.
Joseph Sequeira, a BJP leader, told IANS that approximately sixteen illegal dance bars operate in his panchayat.
"No one has been granted permission to operate dance bars; only restaurant licences have been approved. Since there is no provision for issuing a licence for a dance bar, the restaurant licence is being utilised illegally "Sequeira claimed.
"As soon as dance clubs were prohibited in Mumbai, they viewed Goa as an opportunity to introduce this concept there. My village's reputation is being tarnished by this unlawful trade. This should cease to exist. Our elected representatives (MLAs) should discuss and ban this matter during the Assembly session "Sequeira added.
Sequeira claims that he has delivered notices to all sixteen dance bars.
"We have requested a response from them and instructed them to remove any signs and banners advertising dance clubs from the village. We will take additional steps, "he stated.
According to him, prohibiting these dancing clubs will have no effect on tourism activity. "There will be zero impact on the tourism industry," he added, adding that they are performing surprise inspections.
Michael Lobo, a member of the local legislature, claims that, as a result of these dance bars, swindlers who prey on tourists visiting the beach community have grown active.
"I am convinced that law enforcement will respond. Previously, there were 700 to 800 vendors. But after my petition to the Chief Minister, the police took action, and there are now only 200 to 250 nighttime street vendors "Lobo asserted.
Lobo stated that safety should be provided for tourists visiting the state.
"We must communicate to the globe that the area is secure for tourists. Illegal activities must be halted. The Panchayat has issued licences for restaurants, but they have transformed them into dance clubs. Absolutely unlawful. I had previously stopped this, but it has resumed "he said.
"The panchayat and the Planning Development Area (PDA) had taken action against these dance bars and demolished them the last time. However, they have been constructed once more, and there are currently 12 to 13 dance clubs in operation "Lobo stated.
In the previous few days, he asserted, multiple incidences involving touts who duped tourists out of substantial sums of money by making false promises have been reported.
According to Lobo, numerous cases go unreported because the majority of tourists are come to enjoy their vacation and do not like to waste time and energy at police stations.
