Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann told the newly formed anti-gangster task force (AGTF) on Friday to stamp out gangsters from the state in order to repose people’s full faith and confidence in the law and order machinery.Chairing a meeting with the newly constituted AGTF team here, Mann reiterated his government’s firm commitment to wipe out the menace of gangsterism from the state and said it is a slur on a peaceful state like Punjab, according to an official release.The AGTF would be absolutely empowered with requisite manpower, advanced technology, vehicles and adequate funds, he said. Kanpur: The Uttar Pradesh government has seized properties worth Rs 67 crore belonging to slain gangster Vikas Dubey and his relatives.Attachment orders for these properties have been issued by the court of the district magistrate.The 13 immovable and 10 movable properties that have been attached are in the names of Vikas Dubey's wife Richa Dubey, his mother Sarla Dubey and two sons Akash and Shanu.The properties are located in the Bikru village, Chaubeypur, Kanpur Dehat and Lucknow.Vikas Dubey was the main accused in the July 3, 2020 ambush in which eight police personnel were massacred when they reportedly went to arrest him in a case.Vikas Dubey was arrested from Madhya Pradesh and later killed in an encounter and his five aides also met a similar fate. The district administration had bulldozed Dubey's house in the Bikru village where the incident took place.According to the police, a senior level official had started the evaluation and marking of all the movable and immovable assets of all the accused in the Bikru case, including gangster Vikas Dubey, from the public works department (PWD) recently.In this episode, movable and immovable properties worth Rs 2.97 crore of his cashier Jaikant Bajpai had already been attached.Similarly, movable and immovable properties worth about Rs 40 lakhs, including a truck, a flour mill, a house in the Shivli area of Kanpur Dehat, a two-wheeler, a major portion of the ancestral house located at Sujja Nevada belonging to Dubey's aide Vishnupal Singh, had been attached about a week ago.After this, the police zeroed in on Dubey's two vehicles, two tractor-trolleys, ancestral house located in the Bikru village, 12 'bighas' of land in the village, 13 'bighas' of land of Sakarwan and houses and shops in Shivli. —IANS

New Delhi: In a joint operation with the Bihar police, the Delhi Police's Special Cell has arrested a most-wanted gangster of the eastern state here, officials said on Saturday. The accused has been identified as Azad Ali (43), a resident of Bihar's Siwan district, they said. The city police received information that a gangster from Bihar, wanted in a sensational shootout during the Vidhan Parishad election in the state, was hiding in Delhi-NCR, it said. On Friday, police got a tip-off that Ali would come to meet one of his associates to a location near Ring Road, Rajghat. A joint team was deployed and around 11:15 pm, Ali was spotted and nabbed after a brief scuffle, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Jasmeet Singh said.A pistol and three live cartridges were seized from his possession, police said, adding that Ali was wanted in a case of shootout in Siwan on April 4. One Aftab Alam, along with Ali, Osama (the son of late Shahabuddin) and seven-eight others, had fired indiscriminately with AK-47 rifles on a convoy of cars of one Mohammed Rahees Khan, when the victims were returning to their village after polling day, police said. Five people had received multiple gunshot injuries in the incident and one of them, Vinod Yadav, died in the hospital, they added.The attack was allegedly planned and orchestrated by Alam in a conspiracy with Osama, Ali and their other associates. Alam and Rahees -- two history-sheeters from Siwan -- had a rivalry with each other. Alam enjoyed the support of Osama, the son of deceased gangster Shahabuddin, police said. Rahees had contested the election for the membership of Bihar's Vidhan Parishad but was defeated, they added. Ali was involved in six criminal cases, including two murder cases and cases of attempt to murder, robbery, Arms Act, kidnapping for ransom, assault, hurt, intimidation etc., in Bihar.—PTI

Mumbai: A witness in a money-laundering case against Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik has stated before the Enforcement Directorate that fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim is based in Pakistan's Karachi city, while another witness said he was told that Dawood would send Rs 10 lakh to his siblings every month. The statements of the two witnesses are part of the charge-sheet filed by the ED against Malik in the money-laundering case pertaining to a property of Dawood Ibrahim. In his statement before the probe agency, Alishah Parkar, son of the gangster's sister Haseena Parkar, said Dawood Ibrahim is his "mamu" (maternal uncle) and used to reside on the 4th floor of Dambarwala Building (Mumbai) around 1986. "After 1986, I heard from various sources and family that Dawood Ibrahim is in Karachi, Pakistan. I was not born when Dawood Ibrahim moved to Karachi, and I or my family members are not in touch with him," he told the ED.Alishah Parkar further stated that occasionally during Eid, Diwali and other festive occasions, Dawood Ibrahim's wife "is in touch" with his wife and sisters.Another witness, Khalid Usman Shaikh, has stated before the ED that "(Iqbal) Kaskar (Dawood Ibrahim's brother) told me that Dawood would send money through his men.""He (Kaskar) said he too would get Rs 10 lakh every month. On a couple of occasions, he showed me wads of cash and said he'd received the money from Dawoodbhai,” the witness told the ED.Malik (62), a senior Nationalist Congress Party leader, was arrested by the ED on February 23 this year in the money-laundering case and is currently in jail.The ED's case is based on an FIR filed recently by the National Investigation Agency against Ibrahim, a designated global terrorist and a key accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts, and his aides under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.—PTI

Kanpur:&nbsp;Two Uttar Pradesh policemen were terminated after a departmental inquiry in the 2020 Bikru massacre case found they tipped off dreaded gangster Vikas Dubey about an impending raid against him, helping him set up an ambush and kill eight personnel, officials said Thursday. The two policemen were already suspended in connection with the case."Vinay Tiwari, the then Station Officer of Chaubepur Police Station, and Sub-Inspector KK Sharma have been dismissed from service," Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime &amp; Headquarters) Sureshrao A Kulkarni told PTI Thursday. He said the duo was found guilty of leaking information about the police raid for arresting Dubey, a history-sheeter who was killed within days of the incident. "Acting on this information, Dubey with the help of his henchmen set up an ambush for the police team. They fired at the police party that had gone to the Bikru village, killing eight police personnel including a Deputy SP," said the officer. The incident occurred during the night of July 2, 2020. After killing the policemen in the ambush, Dubey fled from the spot along with his accomplishes. A few days later, Vinay Tiwari and KK Sharma were suspended for their alleged laxity in duty. It was alleged that Tiwari and Sharma fled from the scene when their colleagues were attacked. This caused many to suspect their roles in the entire episode. During a preliminary inquiry, it was found that Tiwari and Sharma had leaked information about the impending raid against Vikas Dubey after which they were sent to jail, officials said. In the days following the ambush, several UP police teams had launched a manhunt to nab Dubey and his aides. Police had arrested many of Dubey's aides while several of his henchmen who were allegedly involved in the ambush were shot dead in police encounters. A week after the incident, Dubey was nabbed at Mahakal temple in Ujjain. He was gunned down in an encounter while being brought back to Kanpur from Ujjain.—PTI

Bawania and Tajpuria teamed up with different gangsters Kaushal Chaudhary, Davinder Bhambia, and Lucky Patial from Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The Delhi Police had arrested about a dozen miscreants of this five-member gang in connection with the murder of Vicky.Those arrested were identified as sharpshooter Sajjan Singh alias Bholu, Anil Kumar alias Lath and Ajay Kumar alias Sunny Kaushal. During interrogation, the arrested trio had revealed about the involvement of a Moose Wala and his manager in the Vicky murder case. As per reports, Vicky was a close friend of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi who is serving time in jail in Bharatpur, Rajasthan since 2017 for various crimes.In a post on his purported Facebook page, gangster Bishnoi has taken responsibility for the murder of singer Moose Wala. The DGP further said one Goldy Brar has claimed the responsibility on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The investigation would look into all aspects regarding the murder.The DGP said he has been misquoted by a section of the media and he has the highest regards for Moosewala.In less than 24 hours after his security was curtailed by the government, singer-turned-actor-politician Moosewala, with a huge fan base running into millions, was shot dead by gangsters close to his ancestral village in Mansa in broad daylight on Sunday. He was 29 years old.He was on the wheel in a Mahindra Thar SUV when the assailants, believed to be 10-12, fired more than 20 rounds at point-blank range at the singer and his two friends, who got grievous injuries. Moosewala got seven-eight bullets.Moosewala was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead. The civil surgeon at Mansa hospital said Moosewala was brought dead, while the two others were referred to another hospital for treatment. The incident happened a day after the Punjab Police ordered the withdrawal of security of more than 420 people, including former legislators, Jathedars of two Takhts, heads of deras and police officers.Two of his four gunmen were withdrawn after the new government order. Moosewala was without security when the crime happened. Also he was travelling in a vehicle that was not bulletproof. Normally, he used his bulletproof Toyota Fortuner for commuting, police said. —IANS

Manjinder Singh Sirsa, BJP leader from New Delhi, has questioned the Bhagwant Mann government for leak of the orders of withdrawal of security from 424 persons. The division bench of Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi directed the petition to be listed before the concerned bench for hearing on Wednesday.Advocate Vishal Chopra mentioned the plea before the bench. He submitted that there is an urgency to hear the matter as there is apprehension about the fake encounter with Lawrence Bishnoi. The bench perused the plea and directed to list it before the roster bench Special NIA court on Monday had refused to entertain the plea moved by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Bishnoi, who is being alleged to have links with Singer Sidhu Moose Wala's murder has approached the special court suspecting a fake encounter by Punjab Police. Bishnoi is under trial and accused of MCOCA before a special court.Moosewala was shot dead in the Mansa district of Punjab on Sunday, a day after the state government curtailed his security cover. Special NIA Judge Praveen Singh of Patiala House Court had refused to entertain the plea seeking direction to Tihar jail authorities to give prior information to the court and not to give the custody of Bishnoi to any state police including Punjab. The plea moved by Advocate Vishal Chopra stated that the trial of the applicant under MCOCA would hamper if his custody were granted to other states' police. Court sources confirmed that the Special Judge has refused to entertain the plea saying the security is a state subject. The court can not pass any direction in the matter. As there is no production warrant has been issued. On the other hand, the counsel for the accused had denied the confirmation. Lawrence Bishnoi is accused in the MCOCA case pending before the Special Judge of Patiala House court. He is currently lodged in the Tihar jail.—ANI

Chandigrah: The Punjab police on Wednesday reconstituted the special investigation team, probing the killing of singer Sidhu Moosewala, under the supervision of head of the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) to expedite investigations into the murder case, officials said. Additional director general of police Pramod Ban is the head of the AGTF.Now, the six-member SIT (earlier it had three members) will have a new chairman, inspector general of police Jaskaran Singh, and two new members, including assistant inspector general AGTF Gurmeet Singh Chauhan and Mansa senior superintendent of police Gaurav Toora. Mansa SP (Investigation) Dharamveer Singh, Bathinda DSP (Investigation) Vishawajeet Singh and In-charge of CIA Mansa Prithipal Singh are the existing three members of the SIT.In his fresh order, Director General of Police V K Bhawra stated that the SIT shall conduct the investigation on a day-to-day basis, arrest the perpetrators of this heinous crime, and on completion of investigation, police report shall be submitted in the court of competent jurisdiction.The SIT can co-opt any other police officer and take the assistance of any expert/officer, with approval of the DGP, the order further reads.Moosewala, famous Punjabi singer and Congress leader, was shot dead on Sunday by unidentified assailants in Punjab's Mansa district, a day after the state government curtailed his security cover.The state police had termed the incident as a case of an inter-gang rivalry and said the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was behind the murder. New Delhi: Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has told investigators that his gang's members, including Canada-based Goldy Brar, hatched a conspiracy and killed Sidhu Moosewala, officials said on Friday.According to them, Bishnoi, who is in the custody of the Delhi police's special cell, has alleged that Moosewala was involved in the killing of Akali Dal youth leader Vikramjit Singh alias Vicky Middukhera on August 7 last year which led to a "rivalry" between him and the Punjabi singer. Bishnoi has been very uncooperative and has not yet disclosed the names of his gang members who were the real conspirators being the killing, officials said.The 28-year-old singer-politician was shot dead by some unidentified assailants in Punjab's Mansa district on May 29, a day after the Punjab government curtailed his security cover. The Delhi police special cell, which is probing the matter, got the custody of Bishnoi for three days after arresting him from Tihar in a case registered under the Arms Act, officials added."Bishnoi has been very uncooperative so far. But during interrogation, he accepted that he had a rivalry with Moosewala and claimed that his gang members killed the singer."He has revealed that Goldy Brar was one of the gang members who conspired and executed the killing of Moosewala but has not yet disclosed the names of other associates who were the real conspirators and executioners of the killing," a police official said.The official said, "Bishnoi has not disclosed the exact motive behind executing the killing and has been uncooperative about revealing other details about the murder."Bishnoi, who is facing nearly 60 cases, was lodged in Central Jail number eight of Tihar.Gangster Kala Jathedi and his aide Kala Rana, who were in police custody in a different case, were also questioned in connection with the killing of Moosewala.According to officials, after questioning Bishnoi in Tihar prison, he was produced at the Patiala House court and was remanded in three days of police custody for questioning in connection with the case where three criminals were arrested after a brief encounter with the Special Cell's unit last month.During interrogation, the arrested criminals had disclosed that the weapons recovered from them were supplied by Bishnoi, a senior police official said. The development came a day after a Delhi court refused to entertain a plea filed by Bishnoi seeking a direction to the jail authorities not to give his custody to Punjab police, which suspects that he had plotted the singer's killing.Bishnoi has moved the Delhi high court under the apprehension of a fake encounter by the Punjab police.The Punjab police had earlier said Moosewala's killing seemed to be the result of an inter-gang rivalry and the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was involved in it.—PTI

Gurugram: A Gurugram school principal allegedly received a threat call in the name of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi on Friday evening, the police said. Lawrence Bishnoi, a noted gangster, is currently lodged in Tihar jail. The gangster is on the police radar in connection with the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. Jaipal Singh, the complainant, a resident of Jai Hind Ki Dhani in the Farukhnagar area of Gurugram, is the Director of Guru Dronacharya School in Bhangraula village. He told the police that on Friday evening he got a threat call from an unknown number. The person on the call identified himself as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. “The unknown caller threatened me, saying that ‘I will abduct you on Monday’ and when I asked him what the matter was, the person on call said, ‘I will tell on Monday’ and disconnected the phone. Then the phone number went unreachable,” Singh told the police.Soon after the call, the school principal reported the matter to the Farrukhnagar police. “A case has been registered in this regard. As per the details provided, we are probing the matter. The police have started further investigation by registering a case under Section 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC),” station house officer (SHO) of Farrukhnagar police station said.As per the reports, Bishnoi gang network is active in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh. There are dozens of serious cases like murder, kidnapping, and extortion registered against Lawrence.—IANS

Patna:&nbsp;In a bid to control crime, the prison department of Bihar has shifted 23 hardcore criminals from Patna to the high-security Bhagalpur Central Jail. The department took the decision following recommendation of Patna SSP Manavjeet Singh Dhillon.Keeping in view of rising crime incidents in Patna and the adjoining districts, the SSP said that jail operated crimes cannot be ruled out. He further said that the hardcore gangsters lodged in the Patna Beur Jail are planning the crimes and their execution is being done by gang members. The 23 inmates shifted on Sunday night included two under trial prisoners.Some of the hardcore gangsters are Sanjeet Rai, Vijay Singh, Saket Kumar alias Pintu and Ajay Chaudhary. Earlier, the department had already 20 criminals to the Bhagalpur prison. It has shortlisted 62 inmates lodged in the Patna jail, majority serving life terms, to be shifted to other prisons across the state.—IANS

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Wednesday said that the mastermind behind the killing of popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala is gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Addressing a press conference here, today evening, the chief of Delhi's anti-terror unit, Special Cell, Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal said, "On May 29, in Punjab's Mansa, Sidhu Moose Wala was killed by assailants. Delhi Police Special Cell traced down the organised gang and criminals who carried out the murder. In this incident as well, we have received information that this attack was planned.It is our duty to nab the culprits as soon as possible." "A first, we carried out some groundwork in the case. We know that the case was registered in Punjab by the Punjab Police. With the joint cooperation of the Delhi Police and Punjab Police, we began the task of identifying the killers at first. With the efforts of the Delhi Police, we established that about five persons were mainly involved in the incident. Later, the Punjab Police identified a few more criminals," he said. The senior Delhi Police official said that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi is the mastermind behind the killing of popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala. The Police said that Siddhesh Hiraman Kamle, a close associate of the main shooter in the killing of singer Sidhu Moosewala in Punjab has been arrested. "Maharashtra Police has been given Mahakaal alias Siddhesh Hiraman Kamble's 14-day police custody remand. He is a close associate of one of the shooters, but he's not involved in the killing," he said. "At least five people are involved in the killing. One Mahakaal has been arrested.He is a close associate of one of the shooters involved in Punjabi singer Siddu Moose Wala's murder, though he was not involved in the shooting. Actual shooters will be arrested soon," the Police said. Earlier, Gangster Goldy Brar had claimed the responsibility for Moose Wala's murder. This murder was in retaliation for youth Akali leader Vicky Middukhera's killing that took place last year. The Punjab Police on Tuesday had said it had arrested eight persons so far in connection with the brutal murder of Moosewala. The police spokesperson said they also sought a red corner notice against gangster-turned-terrorist Harwinder Singh Sandhu, alias Rinda, of Rattoke village, Tarn Taran.—ANI

New Delhi: A Delhi court on Friday sent gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to four more days of police custody, in connection with an old Arms Act case. Bishnoi was produced on Sunday before the Patiala House Court which sent him to five days police custody, and was brought before the court again after the expiration of his remand. The Delhi Police’s Special Cell submitted before the court that they need four days’ custody of the gangster in the present case, which is in relation to another jailed gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria’s arms supply to Bishnoi.Jasdeep Singh aka hagwanpuria is infamous for his criminal activities mostly in the Majha area of Punjab. Jaggu and his gang were the main accused in the killing of the son of a Sarpanch in Dhianpur village on Diwali night. During interrogation, Bishnoi had told the Special Cell about the hideout and names of the arms suppliers, who are based in Punjab, Haryana, Uttrakhand and Rajasthan. Police suspect these suppliers could be the ones who helped the killers of Punjabi singer-politician Sidhu Moosewala — one being headed by Ranjeet, resident of Faridkot, another Vijay, a resident of Haryana-Rajasthan border area, and one more by Raka.Bishnoi came to headlines soon after the murder of Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala, allegedly on behalf of his gang, took place on May 29. “The Delhi Police didn’t mention the Sidhu Moosewala case in their remand application. Patna: A dreaded gangster Raja Thakur has been killed during a gang war in Bihar's Muzaffarpur, the police said on Friday.
The police learnt about the incident when some residents of Jialal Chowk found a body with a pool of blood, and informed the police.
Thakur was invited to a party by his friends to Jialal Chowk under Ahiyapur police station on Thursday night and was allegedly beaten to death.
Thakur was wanted in a number of criminal cases including murder, extortion, loot and kidnapping.
The police sent the body to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
The family members of the deceased refused to lodge an FIR in this matter.
The Muzaffarpur Police, however, have registered an FIR and are making efforts to identify the accused.

Prayagraj: Former MP Atiq Ahmad’s wife accused senior Uttar Pradesh Police officials on Friday of lodging a false case against her son and appealed to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to order a high-level probe in the matter.
Talking to reporters here, Ahmad’s wife Shaista Parveen said, “My husband recently described Adityanath as a brave, honest and hard-working person. He was right. A number of steps were initiated against us, but I do not have any complaints since the BJP works on the policy of (dividing) Hindus and Muslims.” “I have a complaint that my 18-year-old son Ali has been sent to jail. After passing his Class-12 exams, Ali was going to take admission in a law course. But some police officials, the IG-Prayagraj being prominent among them, colluded with our rivals and registered a case against our son,” she added.
Parveen alleged that a senior police official, who is on the verge of retirement and harbours aspirations of contesting polls, lodged the false case against her son and sent him to jail. She further alleged that the said police official now wants to initiate action against her son under the Gangsters Act. Parveen said all that she wants is that the chief minister orders a high-level probe in the matter and punish the guilty officials.
The Prayagraj Police has attached a number of properties belonging to gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad in the last few months. Ahmad is currently lodged in an Ahmedabad jail. —PTI

Rishikesh: The Gangster Act has been invoked against the three accused in the Ankita Bhandari murder case, said Pauri Garhwal Senior Superintendent of Police Sweta Choubey.
"Gangster Act has been invoked on the three accused, including Pulkit Arya, the main accused in the Ankita Bhandari murder case," Choubey told ANI. On being asked about the factory owned by Pulkit Arya catching fire on Sunday, she said that the fire occurred due to suspicious circumstances.
Earlier today, a factory owned by Pulkit Arya, who is the main accused in Ankita Bhandari's murder, caught fire. The Pulkit Arya-owned Amla Candy factory in Ganga Bhogpur in Uttarakhand caught fire due to a short circuit in its inverter fitting, SHO Vinod Singh Gunsai of Lakshman Jhula police station said.
The SHO said that the fire was brought under control with the help of three fire tenders, after two hours.
Nineteen-year-old Ankita Bhandari was missing for at least six days before her body was recovered from the Chilla canal in Rishikesh on September 24. Pulkit Arya, the son of expelled BJP leader Vinod Arya, was arrested in the case for allegedly pushing her into the canal following an altercation. Besides Pulkit Arya, two more people were arrested in the case.
"After interrogating the witnesses related to the incident and the statement given by the accused- under police custody- it is found that all are matching among themselves", DIG Renuka Devi investigating the case had said.
Asked about VIPs visiting Vanantara resort (owned by Arya), where Ankita was working as a receptionist, she said that after interrogating the staff working in the resort, it was found that there is a different category of rooms in the resort, referred to as top class rooms and those who stay in those rooms are generally called 'VIPs'.
The Ankita Bhandari murder case has sparked a massive outrage and protests were reported from various parts of the state. Angry locals even set on fire the resort where Ankita worked. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami then ordered officials to ensure law and order in the state.
Ankita used to work as a receptionist at the Vanatara resort owned by Pulkit Arya in Rishikesh.
Authorities had demolished parts of the resort, saying the structures were illegally constructed.
But this action had raised fears that crucial evidence relating to the case may have been compromised. The police, however, assured that a forensic team had collected evidence before the demolition. —ANI
