Under the leadership of Dr. Shiv Kumar, Veterinary Officer of Government Veterinary Hospital, Dineshpur, chicken chickens were distributed to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for setting up backyard units under Gram Sabha Khatola. At the same time, he said that along with agriculture, animal husbandry and poultry farming has emerged rapidly in the country. Like animal husbandry, poultry farming is an income generating business throughout the year. Keeping in view the increasing demand for eggs, poultry farming is becoming a good earning employment. On this occasion, village head of Gram Sabha Khatola Mukesh Rana, Gram Panchayat Secretary Parvati Devi, M.C. Pathak, Deepchandra etc should be present.

Ballia: An outbreak of chickenpox has been reported from Ballia district where about 20 children and a teacher of Govindpur primary school have been found to be infected with chickenpox.
According to district health officials, red spots were first seen on the faces of some children on February 2. It was presumed to be mosquito bites. But the numbers kept on rising and symptoms of chicken pox appeared.
Superintendent of Narahi community health centre, Dr Saket Bihari Sharma, said that when symptoms appeared in 20 children, they were sent home. "The health department swung into action and sent a team to the school. Necessary medicines were also being made available to them," he said. Headmaster (in-charge) of the school Tanya Srivastava said an assistant teacher Vivek Kumar has also been infected and the matter was reported to the block education officer. —IANS

New Delhi: A team of Japanese researchers have discovered new antioxidants in chicken, pork and beef that may help in relieving fatigue and preventing dementia.
Imidazole dipeptides (IDPs), which are abundant in meat and fish, are substances produced in the bodies of various animals, including humans.
However, the physiological mechanism by which IDPs exhibit these activities had not been determined previously.
Discovery of 2-oxo-imidazole-containing dipeptides
A research team led by Professor Hideshi Ihara from the Osaka Metropolitan University was the first to discover 2-oxo-imidazole-containing dipeptides (2-oxo-IDPs) -- which have one more oxygen atom than normal IDPs. They found that they are the most common variety of IDP derivatives in the body.
The researchers also found that they have remarkably high antioxidant activity, according to the findings published in the journal Antioxidants.
"We hope that this research method, which enables advanced analysis of 2-oxo-IDPs, will be applied not only to basic biology but also to medicine, agriculture and pharmacy, where it will help improve people's health and prevent diseases," said Ihara.
In the study, the researchers established a method for selective and highly sensitive detection of five types of 2-oxo-IDPs using mass spectrometry. Using this method, they revealed for the first time that beef, pork, chicken and other meat contain antioxidants, not only IDPs but a variety of different 2-oxo-IDPs. —IANS

Ranchi: Even as an outbreak of bird flu was confirmed in Jharkhand capital city Ranchi, the State health minister Banna Gupta made a bizarre remark stating that he "eats more chicken when bird flu infection spreads."
The minister further said, "A few cases have been detected there is no serious concern as of yet. Our department (Health) is closely working with the Department of Animal Husbandry, and we will make sure that no one suffers by it," Gupta said while interacting with the reporters here on Saturday. "There is nothing to panic, I eat more chicken when bird flu infection spreads, all you need to do is heat it well while cooking," Samples from the said epicentre (Jail More, Ranchi Municipal Corporation) were sent to the ICAR-National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases (NIHSAD) Bhopal which confirmed that samples are found positive for H5N1 avian influenza. Union Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying has directed the Jharkhand government to take immediate measures including declaration of infected and surveillance areas, restricting access to infected premises, destruction of birds and disposal of dead birds and infected material.
Last week over 400 chickens died in a period of five days at the government poultry farm located in Lohanchal, in Bokaro district after being affected by Bird Flu, a Kolkata lab has confirmed. Nearly 4000 birds including chickens and ducks, were culled in Bokaro district after confirmation of the bird flu outbreak among 'Kadaknath' and Rhode Island Red (RIR) varieties of chicken.
Symptoms of the infection among humans include severe upper back pain, fever, cough, shortness of breath, cold and blood in the sputum. Globally, 868 human infections with H5N1 avian flu - the type of virus circulating around the globe - were reported from 21 countries from January 2003 to Nov. 25, 2022, according to the World Health Organisation.&nbsp;

Jan 20: A fascinating legal battle is unfolding in the Delhi High Court as it prepares to settle the matter of who can be credited with inventing two Indian dishes. Butter chicken and dal makhani.  In a clash, between known restaurants, Moti Mahal and Daryaganj the Delhi High Court is currently presiding over a case that revolves around the origins of these culinary delights as reported by Bar and Bench.  Moti Mahal has taken action against Daryaganj claiming that the latters use of the tagline "Inventors of Butter Chicken and Dal Makhani" misleads the public into believing a connection between the two establishments.  Justice Sanjeev Narula overseeing the case on January 16th has asked for a written response from Daryaganjs owners within one month. Moreover an interim injunction notice has been issued based on Moti Mahals application. The case is scheduled for its hearing on May 29th according to Bar and Bench.  The dispute over the origin of these gems has been ongoing, for years. Daryaganj attributes the recipes to Late Kundan Lal Jaggi while Moti Mahal insists that their ancestor, Late Kundal Lal Gujral originally created these dishes. According to Moti Mahal it is claimed that Gujral, the inventor of tandoori chicken, butter chicken and dal makhani introduced these innovations to India following the partition. They explain that Gujral ingeniously created the butter sauce to prevent leftover chicken from drying out which eventually led to the development of dal makhani.  While Daryaganj has not yet responded to the lawsuit reports suggest that their legal representatives have dismissed these claims as unfounded. The courtroom proceedings promise to unveil the history behind these cherished dishes.
