Bareilly: &nbsp;A government doctor was arrested here for allegedly sexually harassing and attacking a staff nurse, police said on Saturday. Superintendent of Police (Rural) Rajkumar Aggarwal said Dr Ram Krishna Verma was arrested following an FIR was lodged against him at the Bahedi Police station." The case against the doctor was lodged a couple of days ago on the complaint of the staff nurse. As per her complaint, the doctor sexually harassed her while on duty at a primary health centre in the Mudia Nabibaksh area and hit her when she objected to it."Following initial probe into the matter, we arrested the accused on Friday evening. The accused was sent to judicial custody," said the SP.—PTI

Thiruvananthapuram: A local court here has sentenced an autorickshaw driver to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor girl for over a period of one year. Kottayam Additional District Court (POCSO) judge, K N Sujith, on Friday sentenced Vadavathur resident Sebi (42) to 20 years of jail and imposed a fine of Rs two lakh on the convict.The accused was convicted under Section 6 (sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 354 (criminal force to any woman to outrage her modesty).The court noted that the accused used to sexually assault the child during a period of June 2017 to December 2018.—PTI

Bareilly: &nbsp;A BJP worker was arrested on Sunday for allegedly assaulting a woman, police said. He has been identified as Jitendra Rastogi, a resident of Khwaja Qutb in Biharipur here. On July 31, an FIR against Rastogi was registered at the city police station by one Anuradha Rastogi for allegedly assaulting her, ASP, City, Ravindra Kumar said. Jitendra Rastogi, who was holding the post of state general secretary in Uttar Pradesh Udyog Vyapar Mandal -- a trader's body -- was earlier expelled from the post by its national president for MP Naresh Agarwal. Bharatiya Janta Party city president M Arora said that Jitendra Rastogi is a BJP worker but does not hold any post in the party.—PTI

Rajkot (Gujarat): Five students have been booked for sexually harassing another student in a university here, police said on Friday.
The 19-year-old victim was subjected to unnatural sex, blackmailed and threatened several times in the last one month by his co-students. The victim student has been admitted to a hospital.
According to the complaint filed with the Kuvadva police station, the student was sodomised by five students from September 28 to October 19, because of which he suffered mental trauma and physical pain.
The student alleged that five students used to illegally confine him in a hostel room, video record him naked and then blackmail him. They threatened him with making his video viral and forced him into unnatural sex. They forcibly also inserted external objects in his rectum, the complaint said.
In one video clip, the accused are heard giving three options to the victim — “either you chop off your private parts, you die or jump to death from the hostel”.
A police station officer told IANS that the complaint was filed against five students, three of whom were being questioned. The complaint was lodged for unnatural offence, wrongful confinement, criminal intimidation and various sections of Information and Technology Act.&nbsp;

New Delhi (The Hawk): Shaka alias Tivari Bankira has been detained, according to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), in connection with the attack on former Jharkhand MLA Gurucharan Nayak and his three bodyguards by a group of CPI members (Maoist).
One bodyguard was critically hurt during the raid, while Shankar Nayak and Thakur Hembram both died from wounds they received while engaging in combat with the Maoists.
The Maoists also took their personal guns.
Before being re-registered by the NIA, the case was initially opened at the Goilkera police station in the West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand.
"Investigations showed that Tivari was an armed cadre of the CPI (Maoist), who collaborated with other co-accused individuals and paid Pradhan Korah Rs 8,000 to purchase logistics supplies for the Maoists. In the Lowabeda forest, he found these artefacts at the home of Korah and gave them to Sushant, a CPI (Maoist) SAC member. Additionally, he performed reconnaissance at the attack site and monitored the security personnel's movements until the Maoist attack was carried out "NIA stated.

Lucknow: A police constable has been arrested in Lucknow for allegedly sexually assaulting a research scholar from Gautam Buddha Nagar on the pretext of marriage.
Police officials said the accused constable, Vivek Singh, was arrested from near Avadh Bus Stand on the Ayodhya Road. He was trying to escape after an FIR was lodged against him under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 376 (rape) and 383 (blackmailing), and certain sections of the Information Technology Act for misusing technology to harass and blackmail the woman at Vibhuti Khand police station.
Vibhuti Khand station inspector in-charge (IIC) said the constable, a resident of Mathura, and the complainant met for the first time nearly seven years ago in 2016. The complainant alleged that the constable had promised to marry her and made sexual relations with her.
The constable also took objectionable videos and photos of her. According to the complainant, the constable married another woman in December last year. As she objected to the marriage, the constable allegedly threatened her to make her private photos public. The police official said the constable was suspended soon after the FIR was lodged against him.&nbsp;
