New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched the 'Lifestyle for the environment movement', a global initiative, and asserted that its vision is to live a lifestyle that is in tune with our planet and does not harm it. Dehradun: The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami honored the team members of Star Wellness and Care Foundation providing health services in Char Dham Yatra 2022. This program was organized on 26 December at the Chief Minister's residence. In this ceremony, the health campaign started by Star Foundation and Six Sigma was concluded, through which the team of Star Wellness and Care Foundation, along with Six Sigma, provided all necessary health facilities to the pilgrims coming to the pilgrimage sites.
While giving an Appreciation Certificate to Dr Sameer Bhati, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami praised the work of the team and said that "During the Chardham Yatra, the members of the Star Foundation team under the leadership of Dr Sameer Bhati have done commendable work. The health workers of the team have done an excellent job despite the conditions not being favorable in the high mountain areas, which deserves to be congratulated.
Founder of Star Wellness and Care Foundation, Dr Sameer Bhati told that in this felicitation ceremony, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has honoured the Star Medical Service Team for their enthusiasm and amazing contribution to the medical services provided to the pilgrims coming for the pilgrimage of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Madmaheshwar and Tungnath in Chardham Yatra 2022. Giving information about this social organization providing health services, Dr Sameer Bhati, founder of Star Foundation, said that in 2022, this team had provided health services like digital X-rays, health check-ups and doctor consultations in Badrinath Dham, which was appreciated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Badrinath. Talking about the free health facility, Dr Sameer Bhati said, "The visitors from far-off places face various health problems during the long journey. However, due to not being aware of the regional health facilities, they find the health facilities available in the health camps organized in the travel areas convenient. Many travelers have appreciated our work. Also, being portable and easy to operate, X-ray examination by digital X-ray machine available in these camps has proved very useful for quality checking in various remote places, especially in hilly areas where it can be done anywhere, anytime. Due to advanced technology, we get pictures of this test immediately on the phone, which proves to be helpful in treating immediately.
Talking about the campaign, Dr Bhati said, "Star Wellness and Care Foundation has worked diligently to serve the devotees through this free health campaign. New Delhi: The Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs), a scheme for preventive, promotive curative, rehabilitative and palliative care are giving new life to rural patients.
These centres are more than 1.5 lakh in number.
ANI visited a few of HWCs which are run by different states like Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
The Sub Health and Wellness Centre at Dhankot village in Haryana's Gurugram is providing various health services for Antenatal care (ANT), newborn and child health, vaccination, Tb, Malaria, Dengue, blood pressure, diabetes, etc.
It is also providing the first line of treatment like screening for oral cancer, cervical cancer, breast cancer, mental health etc.
"We provide different health services at this Health and Wellness Centre (HWC) like Antenatal care, childcare, and communicable diseases. We also do screening for blood pressure, diabetes, and different types of cancer such as oral cancer and cervical cancer. We provide treatment for adulthood and health services for the elderly population." Dhankot Health and Wellness Centre CHO Dr Nisha told ANI.
This centre is also providing E-Sanjeevani consultancy services for patients.
"We provide tele consultancy in this centre, approx 4-5 patients in a day and 150-200 patients in a month. But approx 400 patients physically visit for treatment at this centre," she further said, adding that the centre is also providing all the health services free of cost that includes medicines, and when more medicines are required then we coordinate with PHC centre. A woman who visited the centre for the vaccination for her ten-month-old child, said, "My son has Exstrophy of the bladder (a rare birth defect in which the bladder develops outside the fetus). He is under treatment at some other hospital. I was worried for him that's why avoiding his vaccination, but after counselling, I started vaccination at this centre."
The total functional AB-HWCs in Haryana are 2407, which includes 1833 SHCs, 391 Primary health care (PHCs), and 183 urban primary health centres (UPHCs).
The total functional AB-HWCs at Gurugram are 108 including 69 SHC, 11 PHC, and 28 UPHC. A health and wellness centre is also being run in Wajheelpur village of Hapur in Uttar Pradesh from the year 2018, where various healthcare facilities are easily available for the patients and telemedicine consultation for patients.
"This centre remains open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, patients with health problems visit for treatment accordingly. We do all checkups and then prescribe medicines for them. If a patient requires tele consultation then we provide that also," Community Health Officer, Health and Wellness Center Wajheelpur village Amit Tyagi said.
Uttar Pradesh has a total functional AB-HWC - 21,705 which includes 18300 SHC, 2532 PHC and 874 UPHC.
In Hapur, the total functional AB-HWC is 173 which includes 147 SHC, 23 PHC and 3 UPHC.
In these Health and Wellness Centres Telemedicine is playing a vital role under eSanjeevani which is working as a revolution in the sector of the country.
"eSanjeevani is a revolution in the health sector of the country. India has crossed a landmark milestone in its eHealth journey. The Government of India's national telemedicine platform - eSanjeevani- registered another landmark by providing teleconsultation services to 10 crore beneficiaries," stated Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, here today. —ANI

New Delhi: Ayurveda describes sleep as a basic instinct of life, essential to all living beings. Happiness and unhappiness, nourishment (proper physique) and non-nourishment, strength and debility, vigour and vitality, knowledge and ignorance, life span and death - all are dependant on sleep. Understanding Nidra (sleep): Ayurveda considers Nidra (sleep) as one of the three pillars of health, alongside Ahara (food) and Brahmacharya (code of conduct for energy management). Sleep is essential to ensure good health and well-being. It provides the basic strong resistance to combat minor diseases and imbalances on a long-term basis. An important function of sleep is the enhancement of Ojas (vital energy) the master coordinator between mind, body and soul. Ojus being the fine product of digestion and a life-supporting element, helps to insulate the mind from daily stress and exertion. The quality and quantity of sleep, therefore, need to be balanced, so as to enable effective functioning and it is necessary to disconnect the mind from the senses. Although people have acknowledged the importance of good diet and exercise, they tend to ignore the importance of sleep, which in turn can have drastic consequences on one's health. For this, the elements of sleep that play a major role in getting perfect sleep need to be understood and practised. The right breathing pattern, snoring, the right posture, setting up a daily evening routine and creating a conducive physical environment are some of the key elements. An ideal position and posture are crucial to getting good sleep. According to Ayurveda sleeping on your left side is very beneficial as it improves circulation and promotes digestion and cardiac functions. Ayurveda also recommends sleeping on the left side, as it is believed to help one breathe properly while supporting body functions well. For quality sleep, getting the right breathing pattern is essential. Ayurveda says that sleeping immediately after a long and hectic day can lead to snoring. Regular snoring meanwhile indicates that you are not getting enough oxygen for the repair of the wear and tear of bodily tissues. To counter this, Ayurveda promotes Abhyanga (oil massage), Padabhyanga (feet massage) and Nasya karma (drops of medicated oil in the nostrils) as a solution for such issues. Sleeping in a well-ventilated place (not directly beneath the fan or air condition ducts) on a comfortable bed and with a suitable pillow, facing in a particular direction (excluding the north) is believed to promote good sleep and improve sleep quality. A good healthy routine has a direct impact on the quality of your sleep. Following it ensures a relaxed mind. Light exercise, light food, early dinners, listening to soothing music and following the rules of digital detox etc. - such habits can make for a good evening routine. Creating a conducive environment for sleep is necessary to calm the mind and body. To do this, put away your gadgets to avoid the radiations which are in reality harmful to the nervous system. Ensure your surroundings are cool and clean and fresh to make it relaxing. To bring your body back into balance, try to go to bed and wake up at around the same time each day and aim to eat your meals too at approximately the same time every day. At the end of the day before going to sleep, practice gratitude by gently taking stock of all the good things in your life and all the moments you were grateful for in the day. Thus Nidra (Sleep) is to be done and practised perfectly, like a ritual - for relaxing the body and quietening the mind to rest. Getting a good night's sleep is one of the most important things you can do to promote overall well-being and is to be considered and valued as one of life's ultimate and precious riches. The health and wellness of students in schools have become increasingly important, especially in the post-covid era. The National Curriculum Framework for School Education emphasised that guidance and counselling can support the attainment of educational aims by contributing to creating an ethos of overall well-being and teaching individuals an ethic of care and mutual respect.

According to the NCF, physical health, and wellness are crucial needs for growing up and require careful addressing by schools. “Designing programs that contribute to good health and physical fitness for all students across the stages in their school life is a central goal.

Not just physical, there is a need to prioritise psychological health and wellness as well. With a primary focus on students, guidance and counselling work must teach strategies for emotional regulation and positive motivation. While mild to moderate challenges with mental health can receive counselling support within the school, it would be necessary to direct students and families to more qualified professionals outside the school system for clinical diagnosis and support,” the report stated.

Regarding the reasons for introducing health and wellness, the draft stated that the classroom and the school were sites for emotional learning, growth, and expression, which were probably the most occupying for teachers at this stage. “Students themselves go through unpredictable mood states and energy fluctuations, often grappling with a sense of unexplainable wellness or not-so-wellness. Middle Stage pedagogy must allow for some amount of engagement with emotional experiences through quiet discussion and reflection. Curricular areas can be used as contexts in which individual responses can be parsed. The teacher will have to find a balance in the approach to students’ emotions - an approach that is neither intrusive nor indulgent, but reasonably firm, rationally clear, and emotionally caring towards students of this stage,” the report said.

Spatial reasoning can be developed through activities such as solving jigsaw puzzles, playing with blocks, and solving mazes. Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills can be enhanced through playing games such as tic-tac-toe and chess.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday emphasised that when it comes to providing medical care, the paramedic staff member's role is equal to that of the doctors"&gt;doctors "Through their care and assistance to patients, the nursing staff can significantly contribute to the achievement of the goal of recovery and wellness," CM Yogi said. Handing over appointment letters to newly selected 1,442 staff nurses at an event organised at SGPGI, the Chief Minister congratulated them and said, "This is a crucial area. You will all agree that a strong medical system is crucial for good health, just as a strong educational system is for any civilized society." The Chief Minister stated that the programs that the government runs without discrimination are what have caused the changes that have occurred in the state over the past six years. "In 2017, the state had a total of 12 medical colleges. Between 2017 and 2022, medical colleges have either already been built, or will be built in 63 districts of the state," he said. Asserting that the goal of 'one district, one medical college' will soon be realised, Yogi said, "With PM Modi's vision and leadership, medical colleges will soon be available in every district of the state. Where it is not possible, we recommended that medical colleges be built there using the PPP model because medical colleges are the best medium for specialized medicine." The CM continued and said, "We observed during Covid-19 that the districts about which we had previously thought about how this work would be done, were also able to produce equally good work when they were connected with SGPGI, KGMU, and RML through teleconsultation. There is no shortage; all that is needed is direction." Yogi further said that it was once said in UP that medical colleges would not be built here whereas today medical colleges are being built in every district today, and nursing colleges are also opening. The Chief Minister also highlighted the fact that Mission Niramaya, which the UP government began in October 2022, is now being carried out across the nation. Drawing a comparison between the previous government and the present government, Yogi said, "When we came in 2017, the unemployment rate was around 19 per cent. Today, it has come down to around 3-5 per cent." The Chief Minister noted that in the last six years, six lakh government jobs were provided in the state. Efforts were made to connect every person with jobs and employment in a transparent manner without any discrimination. "We have decided that every year one lakh government jobs and 12-15 lakh jobs in the private sector will be made available to the youth of the state," Yogi declared. In addition, the Chief Minister recalled a GIS incident, saying, "During GIS, when a team went to the US, an investment for a charitable project came to them from UP's residents in the US. We advised them to visit UP once to view the image. They arrived here, and we introduced them to the PGI director; they will now make a contribution of Rs 500 crore." The Chief Minister urged the newly selected nurses to discharge their duties with full dedication and commitment. Stressing that their care and behaviour with patients play a big role in the recuperation of patients, CM Yogi said: "It helps to complete half of the patient's treatment. You have to deal with the patient like a psychologist." In an apparent dig at the previous governments, Yogi said, "I am very happy to see that after 16-17 years the recruitment process is done in RML. A new Tulane University study suggests that taking at least 50 steps and rising stairs each day could significantly reduce your risk of heart disease. The study, published in Atherosclerosis, found that climbing more than five flights of stairs daily could reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease by 20 per cent.
Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) along with coronary artery disease and stroke are the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. “Short bursts of high-intensity stair climbing are a time-efficient way to improve cardiorespiratory fitness and lipid profile, especially among those unable to achieve the current physical activity recommendations,” said co-corresponding author Dr Lu Qi, HCA Regents Distinguished Chair and professor at the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
“These findings highlight the potential advantages of stair climbing as a primary preventive measure for ASCVD in the general population.” Using UK Biobank data collected from 450,000 adults, the study calculated participants’ susceptibility to cardiovascular disease based on family history, established risk factors and genetic risk factors and surveyed participants about their lifestyle habits and frequency of stair climbing. Median follow-up time was 12.5 years. The study found that climbing more stairs daily especially reduced risk of cardiovascular disease in those who were less susceptible. However, Qi said the increased risk of heart disease in more susceptible people could be “effectively offset” by daily stair climbing. Qi touted the public availability of stairs as a low-cost, accessible way to incorporate exercise into daily routines. “This study provides novel evidence for the protective effects of stair climbing on the risk of ASCVD, particularly for individuals with multiple ASCVD risk factors,” Qi said.

Kanpur (UP): A cardiologist from Kanpur has introduced the practice of making religious scriptures an integral part of treatment.  Dr Neeraj Kumar, a heart surgeon at Laxmipat Singhania Institute of Cardiology &amp; Cardiac Surgery, is winning the hearts of his patients by giving them Bhagavad Gita, Hanuman Chalisa, Sunderkand and Ramayana to read before surgery and long-term treatment.  "Reading religious books makes patients mentally stronger, and boost their morale during treatment," said Dr Kumar.  "Whether it is for treatment of heart ailments or other diseases, the immunity power of the patient together with medicines, play a crucial role in the recovery," said the doctor who started this campaign about a year ago.  "Once the disease is diagnosed, the patient gets mentally worried about his treatment and family. In such a situation, reading Gita, Sunderkand Hanuman Chalisa and Ramayana diverts the patient's mind, which also has a positive effect on his health," he explained.  "Patients who read religious books when they are admitted in the hospital, appear happier than other patients when they are discharged," claimed the doctor, who uses his personal fund to buy these books for patients. "Initially, patients were given newspapers to read. But since the feedback was not encouraging, I started giving these books to our patients and the results are encouraging," he said.

Lucknow: Under the National Tuberculosis Eradication Programme, Uttar Pradesh has created history in the country by notifying 6,24,490 TB patients in the year 2023. This is the highest number of notifications made under the programme in the country so far within a year. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak has given credit for this achievement to the hard work of the state and district-level officials, as well as the active participation of village heads and the community at the village level. He says that this has been possible only due to the collective efforts of everyone. Deputy Chief Minister said that the Central TB Division had set a target of notifying 5.50 lakh TB patients to Uttar Pradesh this year. Far ahead of that target, Uttar Pradesh has created a record (6,25,690 patients). In the year 2023, the maximum number of TB patients were notified in Lucknow at 28283, whereas in Agra 27231, Kanpur Nagar 24,624, Aligarh 19,282 and Ghaziabad 19,191, TB patients were notified. In the year 2022, about 5.23 lakh TB patients were notified in the state. State has proved that it is fully committed to realising the prime minister's resolve to make the country TB-free by the year 2025. Deputy CM said that in achieving this achievement, integrated Nikshay Day organised on 15th of every month at health centres, identification of TB patients during the Dastak campaign and running an active case-finding campaign from time to time also played a big role. TB screening and sample collection at the Health and Wellness Center has also increased the notification of patients. The program has also been strengthened by the commencement of TB testing using TrueNat machines available at the block level. The initiative of TB-free Panchayat has also been helpful in this because now there is a competition among the village heads to make their villages TB-free. A large number of people from educational institutions, NGOs and individuals in the state have come forward in the role of Nikshay Mitra and are adopting TB patients and providing them with better nutrition as well as emotional support. TB Champions are also playing an important role in boosting the morale of TB patients as well as motivating people with symptoms to get tested for TB. It is through this kind of collective responsibility that the tuberculosis eradication program in the state is being strengthened and we will definitely be successful in it. The decision to set up State TB Training Demonstration Centers in Lucknow and Gorakhpur has been taken yesterday itself, which will further accelerate the TB eradication programme. Through these centres, along with explaining the intricacies of TB symptoms and treatment etc., training will also be provided to doctors, para medical staff and other health workers. —ANI

New Delhi: Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud on Thursday inaugurated an AYUSH Holistic Wellness Centre at the Supreme Court premises here. While talking to ANI, CJI Chandrachud said a holistic lifestyle is important not just for the judges and their immediate families, but also for the staff members.&nbsp;
"I underwent Panchakarma about a year ago, and I am looking forward to doing it again now, as it is the turn of the season. However, we have over 2000 staff members in the Supreme Court, including our colleagues, all 34 judges who bear tremendous stress in their daily work, leading to a heavy workload of files. I believe it's important to consider a holistic lifestyle, not just for the judges and their immediate families, but also for the staff members. Through them, we can propagate this message for the rest of the country," he said
"On the benefits of traditional Ayurveda, I am deeply grateful to all the doctors and Ayush. They have a wonderful facility at Saket, and now we are bringing this to the Supreme Court. Porvorim (Goa): The 36-year-old daughter of a Nepali mayor who was missing from Goa on Wednesday was traced, said police. While addressing a press conference on the same, Superintendent of Police Akshat Kaushal said a missing complaint was lodged at the Mandrem police station. Special teams were formed to trace the missing girl. The information at that time was that the girl was a resident of Nepal who was visiting Goa as a tourist.
He added that the information was that she was last seen at a wellness resort in Mandrem. During the inquiry, several CCTV cameras were looked into. Search parties were formed to visit all hospitals in Goa. The entire night, search parties visited beaches to check, and fortunately, due to constant efforts, the girl was found this morning. Expressing satisfaction, he said, "I am happy to report that she is fine and that necessary NGO support has been provided to her. First aid is also given. If required, we will also take legal action. Her family members were in touch with Goa Police, and we also kept taking updates from them. The safety of a missing girl was our priority."
He further revealed, "She left her mobile where she was residing, which is why her family members could not contact her. She has not endured any physical injury. The NGO is providing her counselling. Within 10-12 hours, we could track her. She was not familiar with Goa's topography, and she was not carrying her mobile. This can also be a reason she could not come back. The missing complaint was filed by the owner of the place where she was residing." Highlighting the police's commitment to missing complaints, he said that such cases are dealt with with full effort. "This also shows how we worked and ensured such positive results. There is no kidnapping angle in this case. She missed her path. No misinformation must be spread against her," he added further. He also clarified that the case is not linked to the Lok Sabha elections in any way.
