Lucknow: A 13-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by four men over three days was sexually assaulted again by the station house officer of a police station where she had been left by her attackers, the police said on Wednesday.Five people have been arrested and an FIR filed against six, including the teen's aunt and the SHO of the Pali police station who is absconding. Besides, all the other policemen of the station have been taken away from active duty and sent to police lines.Deputy inspector general, Jhansi Jogendra Kumar has been asked to probe the matter and submit the report within 24 hours, officials said.As chilling details of the case came to light, the opposition Samajwadi Party and Congress highlighted the vulnerability of women and asked where they should go to file their complaint and whom should they trust.According to the mother of the multiple-rape survivor, her daughter was taken to Bhopal, about 240 km from Lalitpur, on April 22 by four men and raped there for three days.The men left the girl at the Pali police station, where she was again sexually attacked, she alleged.The girl narrated her ordeal during counselling at an NGO, which approached the superintendent of police.Following his intervention, an FIR was registered on Tuesday. ADG (law and order) Prasant Kumar added in Lucknow that the DIG has been told to stay in Lalitpur till the case is solved."While the SHO has been suspended, all policemen of Pali police station in Lalitpur have been sent to police lines," said Additional Director General of Police, Kanpur Zone, Bhanu Bhaskar.Attacking the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government over the incident, the Samajwadi Party said, "The biggest question in the BJP government is whom to trust and whom to not. A minor, who reached the police station to file rape complaint was raped by the SHO himself.”"Now the CM should say, where should the victim daughters go? A young woman was returning home from the market on Thursday night when a youth allegedly sexually harassed her. Several shopkeepers came forward in her support, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Suraj Rai told PTI. The youth attacked one of the shopkeepers with a rod after which an argument broke out between the two communities, Rai said. The issue soon snowballed with the two groups attacking each other with lathis. One person each from both the sides sustained injuries in the fight, he said. Investigations are on and necessary action will be taken, the SP said. In protest against this incident, BJP leaders and people associated with Hindu organisations sat on a dharna in the night. The police rushed to the spot, held talks with the two sides and defused the situation, police said.—PTI

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation also issued a statement, saying, the Delhi Metro takes the issue of the safety of our women commuters 'very seriously' and is cooperating with law and order agencies so that necessary action can be taken.The Delhi Commission for Women also issued a notice to the police and sought an action taken report in connection with incident that took place on Thursday afternoon.The police said the security inside metro stations is manned by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).We are taking up the matter with the higher authorities in CISF to find out why the matter was not brought to Delhi Police's notice earlier, officials said.In a series of tweets, the woman claimed that on Thursday afternoon when she got off at the Jor Bagh metro station, a man approached her on the pretext of confirming an address. 'While travelling on the yellow line today, I faced sexual harassment at the Jor Bagh Station. The man had asked for my help w an address during the metro ride.'I helped him, then got off at my station and sat on the platform to book a cab. The man approached me again at the station under the garb of confirming the address. Kottayam Additional District Court (POCSO) judge, K N Sujith, on Friday sentenced Vadavathur resident Sebi (42) to 20 years of jail and imposed a fine of Rs two lakh on the convict.The accused was convicted under Section 6 (sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 354 (criminal force to any woman to outrage her modesty).The court noted that the accused used to sexually assault the child during a period of June 2017 to December 2018.—PTI

Chennai: The parents and uncle of a 20-year-old woman, who complained that her father has been sexually abusing her since she was 12 have been arrested, police said on Sunday.
The woman finally filed a complaint with the all woman police station in Chennai on September 7 and police arrested all three on Friday and charged them under the Pocso (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. They have been sent to judicial custody.
The woman, who was suffering from mental trauma, told the police that she had informed her mother and her paternal uncle of her plight but they asked her to keep quiet.
Police said that the 58-year-old accused was working in a private company in Chennai.—IANS

Lucknow: A photographer has been booked after an 18-year-old girl alleged that he sexually harassed her at a photo studio in Lucknow. The victim alleged that since she had to submit her passport size photographs in school, she went to the studio near her house in the city's Daliganj area. The accused, Mahendra Jaiswal, works in a photo studio in Daliganj. "There was no one in the photo studio except for Jaiswal. I was sitting in the studio room when he asked me to adjust my 'dupatta', I adjusted it and sat on the chair. He then approached me to adjust it himself and started sexually harassing me. I pushed him away and tried to escape but he threatened me and said that if I inform anyone, he will kill me," the victim told police. She narrated her ordeal to her family after which an an FIR was lodged at the Hasanganj police station. Station House Officer Atul Kumar Srivastava said that based on the victim's complaint, the FIR under the charges of sexual harassment, using criminal force on woman and criminal intimidation has been lodged against the accused. The police are searching for the accused who is now absconding.

Chandigarh (The Hawk): A man who works as a labourer in a leather industry in Punjab's Jalandhar city was allegedly kidnapped by four ladies, all in their early 20s, under the guise of requesting an address before being sexually assaulted. The victim, however, has not filed a police report.
The victim stated that while he was showing the women the address, the women knocked him out and kidnapped him.
He claimed that after having some chemical sprayed in his eyes, he was kidnapped in a white automobile.
He was later abandoned in the middle of the night in a remote area.
The man said that he had not reported the crime to the police.
He did, in fact, describe how the crime was committed to the local media.
IANS, however, is unable to confirm the validity of the victim's footage. Even senior police authorities advised him to report any sexual abuse to the police if it occurred.
The victim said in an interview with a local newspaper that his wife had asked him not to complain.
He claimed that the four car-borne women's kidnapping was carried out for sex abuse.
One of the girls inquired about an address that was scribbled on a slip as the car came to a stop. One of them apparently sprayed something in his eyes as he was reading the address, leaving him blinded.
He claimed that the women led him to a remote area where they drugged him.

Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka (The Hawk): In the district's Mangaluru city, a man has reportedly been arrested for allegedly forcing a Hindu girl to convert to Islam, assaulting her sexually, and using extortion to coerce her.
Police claim that the girl has filed a complaint against Khaleel, the proprietor of a mobile business. The case is being looked into by the Mangaluru women's police.
The two struck up a friendship while the girl was employed by a posh business in the Bikarnakatte neighbourhood. Khaleel allegedly planned the crime while taking advantage of the bond.
He brought her to his house in Kallapu and assured her of a good career and financial support. The victim said that he introduced her to a group of women there who coerced her into converting to Islam.
She was required to do namaz in addition to reading from the Quran.
The defendant then assaulted her sexually.
He gave the victim a new identity, Ayesha, and threatened to fire her if she told anybody about the assault. She was also required to wear a burqa at all times.
The IPC Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty), 354 (a) (committing acts of physical contact and advances involving unwanted and sexual overtures), 505 (whoever makes, publishes, or circulates any statement with intent to incite to commit any offence against any other class or community), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), and Anti-conversion Act column 3 are the subjects of the police complaint
The situation is the subject of an investigation.

On Saturday, the police announced that they had opened an investigation and filed a charge against the 69-year-old professor of Hindi. The 23-year-old girl said that the professor tried to sexually abuse her when he summoned her to his office. She was able to get away and reported the incident to the police. Police interviewed the lecturer and documented the professor's statement.

Yadgir, Karnataka (The Hawk): According to authorities, the principal of a government residential school in the state's Yadgir district has been detained by Karnataka police for sexually harassing a female student.
Galeppa Poojari, Principal (Administration) of Morarji Desai Residential School, is the one who was detained. Police from Yadgir Woman's police station have detained him based on the complaint.
Police said that during a phone chat with the student, the accused used foul language and harassed her sexually. Officer Raghavendra visited the school after learning about the event and started an investigation.
The investigation has established the accused's sexual harassment, and a report regarding this has been given to the District Commissioner. The DC has suspended the principal in light of the investigation.
The CEO of the Karnataka Residential Education Institutions Association has also been ordered by the DC to take appropriate action against the accused. More research is being done.

The suspect, who resides nearby, has been taken into custody.
On Christmas Day on a Sunday, the girl and her pals were returning from a neighbouring church when the incident happened.
A senior police official said that on December 25, about 8 o'clock, the suspect approached the girl and her friend as they were walking home in a disguise as a police officer.
"The accused then asked the other youngster to leave after taking the kids to a park. He allegedly took the girl to a remote location after that to assault her sexually "added the official.
The defendant then ran away from the scene. The young woman was transported to the hospital for a checkup.
The officer declared, "A case under pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code and POCSO Act was registered."
The official stated, adding that additional inquiry is ongoing, "During investigation, police teams reviewed the CCTV tape and captured the accused, who works in a private organisation."

Chandigarh: Top wrestlers in India, many of whom hail from Haryana, have accused Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexually harassing players. In response, politicians in the state have responded aggressively, with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar saying, "we will not let their morale to break".
Former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, a member of the Congress party, spoke out strongly in support of the players, stating, "it is a matter of great misfortune and shame that our players, the pride of the country, have to protest on the streets today".
Several Khaps in the state, including the Phogat Khap, also spoke up for the grapplers. On Thursday, a 'Sarv Jatiya Khap Mahapanchayat' was conducted in Charkhi Dadri.—Inputs from Agencies

Sport, when purposefully planned, gives us the environment and opportunity to enforce values such as respect and equality, both on and off the field, and can reduce gender inequalities and violence against women. Sexual abuse toward women athletes has been a problem for as long as women’s sports has existed. Most sexual harassment and abuse is perpetrated by people in positions of authority within the sport industry, often coaches. It happens in all sports and at all levels. Sexual harassment and abuse within the sports industry is suspected to be significantly underreported due to social conditions that discourage disclosure. Many hesitate to come forward fearing they won’t be believed or will be disregarded in favor of the perpetrators’ denial. According to data gathered from a right to information application, it was found that between 2010 to 2020, there were 45 complaints of sexual harassment to the SAI, of which 29 were against coaches. Notably, Vinesh Phogat had previously alleged that coaches who are favourites of the WFI misbehave with women and harass them. She also accused the wrestling federation chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexually harassing girls and calling her a &amp;#39;khota sikka&amp;#39; after her defeat at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.&nbsp;
Many sexual harassment cases have involved coaches and mentors, and athletes are calling for an organized system allowing women to share complaints without fear of damaging their careers. Sexual harassment and abuse arise from the culture of sport and from the opportunities for exploitation of power and authority which this affords coaches. Commonly reported types of sexual harassment include “‘repeated unwanted sexually suggestive glances, jokes, comments, etc.’, ‘unwanted physical contact’, [and] ‘ridicule.’” There is a culture of subservience in sport and therefore &amp;#39;grooming&amp;#39; becomes common, making it very hard for athletes to come forward and complain.
In multiple ways, a coach has significant power over an athlete. Traditionally, athletes place their trust in their coach, taking their advice and following their instructions uncritically because the coach has greater knowledge about and experience with the sport. Coaches can either boost or diminish the athletes’ self- esteem, and they have significant control over the participation and success of athletes and whether they lose their jobs. It’s evident that anywhere in the world, when vulnerable female athletes are placed in the charge of a male coach, there exists the danger that he could prey on them. It’s a very complex situation, and a monitoring mechanism independent of the sports federations would be the first step towards protecting female athletes.
No doubt, SAI has made it mandatory for all federations to ensure female athletes are accompanied by a female coach during domestic and international travel. SAI has also asked the federations to appoint a ‘compliance officer’ at national camps and tours in order to ensure the ‘Standard Operating Procedure on prevention of sexual harassment’ is followed, and that any violation is reported ‘at the earliest’.&nbsp;
Our Sports organisations must have guidelines for preventing violence against women in their player and employee codes of conduct, and have mechanisms for responding to allegations of sexual misconduct and violence. Why India's Female Athletes Struggle With Sexual Harassment?

Rishikesh: A cricket coach, accused of sexually harassing three cricketers being trained by him, has been arrested soon after being discharged from AIIMS-Rishikesh where he was undergoing treatment following an alleged suicide bid, officials said on Friday.
Narendra Shah, a suspended office bearer of the Cricket Association, was discharged from the emergency ward of the hospital on Thursday night and arrested soon thereafter, Circle Officer Pankaj Gairola said.
Shah, who also ran his own cricket training academy, was accused of sexually harassing three cricketers, including a minor, being trained by him. He allegedly consumed poison following the allegation and was referred to AIIMS-Rishikesh from Doon Hospital. He has been booked for sexual harassment and under the SC/ST Act and The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
Meanwhile, former chairperson of Uttarakhand State Commission For Protection of Child Rights Usha Negi has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BCCI president Roger Binny demanding stern punishment for Shah.&nbsp;

Cricket Coach Arrested On Charge Of Sexually Harassing Three Budding Players

Lucknow: A police constable has been arrested in Lucknow for allegedly sexually assaulting a research scholar from Gautam Buddha Nagar on the pretext of marriage.
Police officials said the accused constable, Vivek Singh, was arrested from near Avadh Bus Stand on the Ayodhya Road. He was trying to escape after an FIR was lodged against him under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 376 (rape) and 383 (blackmailing), and certain sections of the Information Technology Act for misusing technology to harass and blackmail the woman at Vibhuti Khand police station.
Vibhuti Khand station inspector in-charge (IIC) said the constable, a resident of Mathura, and the complainant met for the first time nearly seven years ago in 2016. The complainant alleged that the constable had promised to marry her and made sexual relations with her.
The constable also took objectionable videos and photos of her. According to the complainant, the constable married another woman in December last year. As she objected to the marriage, the constable allegedly threatened her to make her private photos public. The police official said the constable was suspended soon after the FIR was lodged against him.&nbsp;
