Mumbai: Captain Hardik Pandya's clinical all-round performance and pacer Lockie Ferguson's superb bowling effort led Gujarat Titans to a convincing 37-run win over Rajasthan Royals in an IPL 2022 match at DY Patil Stadium, here on Thursday. It was Gujarat's fourth win of the IPL 2022 season and they climbed to the top of the points table with 8 points. A sensational unbeaten half-century by Hardik (87 not out off 52) powered Gujarat Titans to 192/4 in 20 overs. Apart from Hardik, Abhinav Manohar (43 off 28) and David Miller (31 not out off 14) also made valuable contributions with the bat for Gujarat. Chasing a big total, Jos Buttler, who played an attacking knock (54 off 24), gave Rajasthan a flying start. He first smashed Mohammed Shami for three back-to-back boundaries in the very first over and then hit debutant Yash Dayal for two boundaries and a six in the second over. However, his opening partner Devdutt Padikkal was dismissed for a first ball-duck in the last delivery of the same over. The promotion of R Ashwin didn't prove effective as he was dismissed for a run-a-ball 8. While the rest of the batters struggled, Buttler raced to his fifty by hitting a few more boundaries. The carnage eventually ended in the last ball of the powerplay when he was undone by a slower delivery from Lockie Ferguson, which crashed on to the stumps. Mumbai: A brilliant five-fer including a hat-trick by out of favour India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal after Englishman Jos Buttler had blasted a century helped Rajasthan Royals beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 runs in a topsy-turvy encounter in Match 30 of IPL 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium here on Monday. Chahal overshadowed some brilliant batting by Shreyas Iyer (85) and Aaron Finch (58) to claim his first hat-trick in IPL. He dismissed Shreyas, Shivam Mavi and Pat Cummins off successive deliveries in the 17th over and turned the match on its head. Chahal ended with 5/40 in his four overs. But there was some more drama in store in the match as Umesh Yadav and Sheldon Jackson dragged KKR to the verge of victory, 11 runs off the last six deliveries before they fell short by seven runs in the edge-of-the-seat thriller. Yadav blasted 19 out of 20 runs of the 18th over bowled by New Zealander Trent Boult as they raised KKR’s hopes of a seemingly unlikely victory. Jaipur: Petrol prices in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar district rose to Rs 123 per litre on Monday morning, making it the costliest in the country.The unprecedented hike has impacted over 80 per cent of petrol pumps bringing them on the verge of closure, confirmed petrol pump owners.In fact, the price of diesel here is Rs 105.31 per litre, which yet remains one of the highest prices in india.However, in the neighbouring state of Punjab, petrol and diesel are cheaper by Rs 17 and Rs 11 per litre respectively.Petrol consumers from Rajasthan can be seen making beeline at filling stations of Punjab, while those in Sri Ganganagar have very limited consumers.In fact, 80 per cent of petrol pumps are on the verge of closure as an impact of this huge difference in fuel costs, said Sri Ganganagar District Petrol Pump Dealers Association District President Ashutosh Gupta. "Our district is selling the country's costliest petrol. The reason being the depot from this district is over 500 km away and hence one needs to be commute for around 1,100 km which adds extra cost and hence comes this highest price," he added.Gupta further said: "I met Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in this regard and asked him if the state government can bring down petrol diesel prices on a par with that of Punjab for three months and review the impact. If positive, we can continue with the model and if not, it shall be dropped."The king of the state should give a patient listening to the problems of its men, however, here there is nothing happening in this regard. No one seems to be working in this direction, he added.—PTI

Jaipur: A 3-year-old girl was allegedly raped and her body was dumped in a well in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh district, police said on Saturday.According to police, the girl had come to attend a marriage ceremony with her mother from Bhilwara and was playing at home on Thursday when the accused Ramesh Dhakad (30) started playing with her. The girl later went missing. A missing complaint was lodged at the Bassi Police Station. The body was found on Friday in the well five kilometers away from the residence. “The accused is being interrogated after registering a case against him under sections of IPC, POCSO Act, SC/ST Act and the Juvenile Justice Act. Rape can be confirmed only after getting the post-mortem report,” SHO Bassi Ganpat Singh said.—PTI

New Delhi: Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue of tax cuts on petroleum products, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Thursday said people were aware of the fact behind the issue and pointed out at his government effecting a Rs 3 a litre cut on petrol earlier.Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also said the PM 'by mistake instead of saying Bhopal, mentioned Jaipur' as petrol and diesel cost more in Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled Madhya Pradesh.The Congress leader also said Rajasthan government reduced VATs on diesel and petrol on three occasions, which resulted an annual revenue loss of about Rs 6,300 crore 'but the PM only mentioned the revenue loss of 6,000 crores of Karnataka and Rs 3500-4000 crores of Gujarat (both states ruled by BJP)'.Making a statement in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Stalin said since 2014, whenever international crude rates dipped, the National Democratic Alliance government did not pass on the benefit to the customers but only pocketed the additional revenue earned from the differential.Referring to a Tamil saying, he indicated that the PM was not revealing the facts. New Delhi (The Hawk): Airports Authority of India (AAI) today successfully conducted at Kishangarh Airport, Rajasthan light trial using GAGAN (GPS Aided GEO Augmented Navigation) based LPV Approach Procedures. The successful trial is a great achievement and major milestone in field of Air Navigation Services (ANS) in the history of Indian Civil Aviation Sector. India is the first country in Asia Pacific Region to achieve such a landmark.LPV (Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance) permits aircraft guided approaches that are operationally nearly equivalent to Cat-IILS, without the need for ground-based navigational infrastructure. The service relies on the availability of GPS and GAGAN Geo Stationary Satellites (GSAT-8, GSAT-10 and GSAT-15), launched by ISRO.GAGAN is an Indian Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) jointly developed by AAI and ISRO. It is the first such system developed for India and neighboring countries in the equatorial region. GAGAN System was certified by DGCA in 2015 for Approach with Vertical Guidance (APV 1) and en-route (RNP 0.1) operations. There are only four Space-Based augmentation systems available in the world namely India (GAGAN), US(WAAS) Europe (EGNOS) and Japan (MSAS). GAGAN is the first such system developed for India and neighboring countries in the equatorial region.Indigo Airlines using its ATR aircraft has flown an Instrument Approach Procedure (IAP) with LPV minima of 250ft, using GAGAN Service. The tests at Kishangarh Airport were performed as part of initial GAGAN LPV flight trials along with DGCA team on- board. After the final approval by DGCA, the procedure will be available for usage of commercial flights.LPV is a Satellite Based Procedure which has been used by the aircraft for landing purpose today at Kishangarh Airport (Rajasthan). LPV approaches will make it possible to land at airportsnot equipped with expensive Instrument Landing Systems, which includes many small regional and local airports. Lowering the decision height up to 250 ft provides a substantial operational benefit in poor weather and low visibility conditions. Thus, any airport which hitherto would require higher visibility minima, will be able to accept aircraft benefitting remote airports which are devoid of precision approach capability equipment. Number of airports including airports under Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) are being surveyed for development of GAGAN based LPV Instrument Approach Procedures so that suitably equipped aircraft can derive maximum benefit in terms of improved safety during landing, reduction in fuel consumption, reduction in delays, diversions and cancellations etc. AAI in coordination with Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has implemented GAGAN Message Service (GMS) through which alert messages to fishermen, formers, and disaster affected people will be sent on the occurrence of natural disasters, calamities, such as flood, earthquake etc. The additional capabilities of GAGAN are also being explored to utilize it in non-aviation field such as Railways, Surveying, Agriculture, Power sector, Mining etc.&nbsp;Design of GAGAN procedures require meticulous survey of the airport environment surroundings and obstacle surfaces. These data are correlated with the complex aircraft approach maneuvers and further simulated in a software to ensure safety of the procedure designed. These procedures can be developed for any of the airport in India for landing without help of Instrument Landing System.These types of procedures make aircraft to land in low visibility condition almost equivalent to Category-1 Instrument Landing System (ILS). Currently Indigo (35), SpiceJet (21), Air India (15), Go First (04), Air Asia (01) and other airlineshave aircraft in their fleet capable to use these LPV procedures. Airports Authority of India has developed 22 such procedures and some are under process of approval from DGCA for commercial flight operations.In line with Govt. of India initiative of AtamNirbhar Bharat, development of LPV procedures for all civil airports is also inprogress to make Indian civil aviation sector more Self-Reliant, AAI is making all efforts for ensuring availability, continuity and integrity of Air Navigation services by such technological enhancement in India. With this India becomes the first country in Asia to have satellite-based landing procedure.Airports authority of India would like to place on record its sincere appreciation to ISRO for designing and implementing GAGAN program from 2002 onwards. DGCA was highly proactive in ensuring the operationalization of GAGAN.&nbsp;AAI also appreciates the cooperation of Indigo airlines for executing the safe flight trials at Kishangarh.

Jodhpur: Communal tensions gripped Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's hometown Jodhpur hours before Eid on Tuesday, prompting the authorities to suspend mobile internet services and impose a curfew in 10 police stations areas of the city.The chief minister has appealed to people to maintain peace and harmony.Meanwhile, the Jodhpur deputy commissioner of police issued orders imposing a curfew till May 4 midnight besides suspending mobile internet services to check the spread of rumours.The tensions broke out past midnight over the issue of putting up Islamic flags on the Jalori gate circle, which led to stone pelting in which five policemen were injured.The situation was brought under control in the early hours on Tuesday with heavy deployment of police but the tensions escalated again in the morning after prayers at an Eidgah.Shops, vehicles and houses were pelted with stones near the Jalori gate area.Members of the minority community were installing Eid flags and they put up a flag on a roundabout alongside the statue of freedom fighter Balmukund Bissa.This led to a confrontation as members of the community alleged that a saffron flag, which they had put up there ahead of Parshuram Jayanti, had gone missing.The issue snowballed into stone-pelting and clashes, officials said.Police rushed to the spot to control the situation during which five policemen were injured, the police control room said. Police had to lob tear gas shells to disperse the mob. Mobile internet services were suspended in the area to check the spread of rumours, the officials said.Gehlot in a tweet urged people to maintain peace and called the incident unfortunate."While respecting the tradition of love and brotherhood of Jodhpur, Marwar, I make a touching appeal to all parties to maintain peace and cooperate in restoring law and order," he said.The chief minister said instructions had been issued to the administration to maintain peace and order.He said leaders of all political parties should ask their workers to maintain peace and they all should remain united.Gehlot also chaired a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister's office to review the situation.He asked ministers Rajendra Yadav and Subhash Garg, and two officers to go to Jodhpur by helicopter.On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party targeted the state government over the law and order situation.BJP MLA Suryakanta Vyas in Jodhpur raised an objection to the installation of a Eid flag alongside the freedom fighter's statue.She had gone to the spot last night as soon as the incident occurred."They did (put up the flag) at (the statue of) Bissa ji and we have a strong objection to this. We will not forget this," Vyas said.BJP state president Satish Poonia said, "Putting up an Islamic flag on the statue of freedom fighter Balmukund Bissa by anti-social elements and removing saffron flags put up on Parshuram Jayanti is condemnable." Jaipur: A 23-year-old woman from Jaipur has alleged that Rohit Joshi, the son of Rajasthan Minister Mahesh Joshi, raped her on multiple occasions over a year, following which the Delhi police has registered a zero FIR, officials said on Sunday.A senior Delhi police officer said the Rajasthan Police has been intimated about the FIR and will further investigate the matter.The case was registered on May 8 at a police station in North District under sections 376 (rape), 328 (causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence), 312 (causing miscarriage), 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her mar­riage, etc), 377 (unnatural offences) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, the police said.Mahesh Joshi, the Minister for Public Health Engineering, could not be reached over phone for his reaction.In her complaint, the woman alleged that the minister's son raped her on several occasions between January 8 last year and April 17 this year and also promised to marry her.The woman said she developed friendship with Rohit Joshi on Facebook last year and since then they have been in contact. The two met in Jaipur first and he allegedly invited her to Sawai Madhopur on January 8, 2021.During their first meeting, she alleged, he spiked her drink and took advantage of it. When she woke up the next morning, he showed her naked photographs and videos which worried her, reads the FIR.Mentioning about another meeting, she alleged that Rohit Joshi had also once met her in Delhi and forced himself upon her."Rohit made me stay at a hotel where he got our names registered as husband and wife. He then promised to marry me...but then he got drunk and abused me...He would beat me up and make obscene videos of me. He would threaten to upload them and make them viral...," the woman alleged.She further stated that on August 11, 2021, she found out that she was pregnant with his baby and alleged that he forced her up take a pill but she didn't, the complainant stated.According to the woman, the accused allegedly raped her on several occasions."Based on the complaint of the woman, we have registered a zero FIR. Jaipur: A tigress was found dead at the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan's Sawai Madhopur district on Friday, an official said.The carcass of T-61, aged around 11 years, was found in Zone 7 of the tiger reserve, following which it was taken to the Rajbagh forest chowki.Ranthambore Field Director Seduram Yadav said prima facie the death occurred after falling from a height but the exact cause of it will be known only after the post-mortem report arrives.Forest officials said T-61 was the daughter of T-8 (Ladli) and T-34 (Kumbha) and had made Zone 7 and 8 of the tiger reserve as its territory and was seen with T-58.The animal's last rites were performed after a post-mortem was conducted by veterinarians in presence of forest and administrative officials, Yadav said.—PTI

Jaipur: &nbsp;Rajasthan is reeling under a severe heat wave as nearly all its districts have registered a temperature above 45 degrees in the last 24 hours.As many as 13 of the 33 districts have witnessed a temperature of 47 degrees and above in the last 24 hours, leaving the people confined to their houses to avoid the scorching sun. Sri Ganganagar registered the highest temperature of 48.1 degrees in the state while Karauli and Baran came in second with 47.8 degrees, making them the three hottest places in the state. Pilani registered 47.7 degrees while Jaisalmer had 47.5 degrees, Bikaner had 47.4 degrees, Dholpur had 47.6 degrees, Bundi had 47 degrees, Kota had 47.2 degrees and Hanumangarh had 47.1 degrees temperature. The IMD has predicted winds around Jaipur after 24 hours, which will bring some respite as the temperature will come down by two to three degrees celsius.—IANS

The city administration had stepped in with the arrangements to supply water to local residents. The city residents claimed that they are facing the water crisis for the past 3-4 months. There is no timely water supply while water trains have come as a relief for them, said the local. Shanta, a private school teacher, said that while the city administration has roped in water trains, the residents are still facing hardships as it takes time to fetch water and take it to their homes. "Water is being supplied every 15 days, and there's no certainty about availability. We face difficulty in managing water even for cooking," she told ANI on Thursday. She further said that while water scarcity has been in the city for around two months, the bare minimum supplies are also contaminated. She added that a new pipeline on the lines of the arrangements for water trains would have been helpful for the residents.She also lamented that the councillor (Prashad) has not been listening to the problems of the residents. However, another local Anil claimed that the city MLA Gyanchand Parakh (who has been in service for 25 years) has been regularly making efforts in fulfilling his promise to combat the water crisis in the city by reaching out to the collectorate, urging to resolve the problem related to water scarcity in the city. Accusing the administration of only filling up their pockets, he said they have been told that the pipeline will take another 10-15 days as they are repairing its leakage. "The solution could have been with a new pipeline. They (administration) are spending Rs 4 lakh for each water train, Rs 16 lakh a day (4 trains run each day)," he said.—ANI

Jaipur: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by five people, including four juveniles, in Rajasthan's Nagaur district, police said on Saturday. The incident happened on April 6 in the Chitawa police station area when the girl had gone to attend a family function. The accused threatened her and raped her in the fields. One of the juveniles is the victim's relative, police said. "A case has been registered in the regards against five people at the Maroth police station yesterday and the accused are being searched," Kuchaman City Circle Officer Sanjeev Katewa said.The girl was upset for the past a few days and the incident came into light on May 19. Police said the medical examination of the girl was done on Friday night at a government hospital.—PTI
