"At about 2:20 pm, terrorists fired upon the joint naka party of police and the CRPF in Gangoo area of south Kashmir," the official said.Central Reserve Police Force assistant sub-inspector Vinod Kumar was injured in the attack. He was shifted to a hospital in Pulwama, but succumbed to injuries, the official said.—PTI

Bengaluru (The Hawk): On Monday, a special court here sentenced an engineering student to five years in prison and a punishment of Rs 10,000 for celebrating the suicide bombing of an Indian paramilitary convoy in Pulwama in 2019.
Faiz Rasheed, a third-semester Electronics and Communication major at a prestigious college in Bengaluru, expressed support for the horrific suicide bomber assault and made statements on social media that called into question India's national sovereignty.
Likewise, he aimed for his words to drive a wedge between different groups of people. Banaswadi police in Bengaluru lodged a FIR against him after his remarks sparked public uproar.
The CCB Special Unit has taken up the probe after he was booked under the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
The suspect's phone was confiscated and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) after his arrest. Special NIA Court was given the charges.
He had been detained in judicial custody ever since his arrest.
On February 14, 2019, a vehicle-borne suicide bomber assaulted a convoy of vehicles transporting Indian security personnel on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, killing forty people.

Srinagar (The Hawk): In the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, four terrorist sympathisers connected to the outlawed LeT were detained, and explosives were found in their possession, according to the police.
They have been identified as Adil Ghani Lone, Karamat-ul-lah Reshi, Suhail Bashir Ganai, Irshad Ahmed Kumar, and Karamulla Tral locals, respectively. Suhail Bashir Ganai and Adil Ghani Lone both reside in Chewa Uller Tral.
According to the police, explosive chemicals and other incriminating materials were found in their possession.
"During preliminary investigation, it was found that the arrested terrorist associates were in contact with LeT terrorist commander alias Babar alias Samama, resident of PoK," police said. "They were in a bid to hatch conspiracy to plant IED in Tral area with the intend to cause damage to police/security Forces."
Additionally, the terrorist associates who were apprehended were involved in providing weapons, ammunition, and other logistical support to the LeT's active terrorists.
Further inquiry has been initiated after a FIR was filed.

New Delhi: Scores of protesting Kashmiri Pandit prime minister's package employees on Monday reiterated their demand for relocation outside the valley, saying their worst fears have come true with the latest killing of a community member in Pulwama.
The protesters assembled outside the relief commissioner's office in Jammu and staged a protest against the killing of Sanjay Sharma (40), a bank ATM (guard who was shot dead by terrorists in the Achan area of the south Kashmir district on Sunday. "We were apprehensive about something like this, being fully aware of the ground realities. The latest killing has dealt a severe blow to our confidence and further increased our concern over our community members' safety in the valley," Yogesh Pandita, one of the protesters, told reporters. Reiterating their demand for relocation outside the valley, he said the government's claim about a secure atmosphere for their return to join their duties stands exposed.
"The administration choked us financially by stopping our salaries to force us to rejoin our duties. We are afraid of working there given the continued targeted killings," Pandita said. Hundreds of prime minister package employees belonging to the Kashmiri Pandit community shifted to Jammu in May last year following the killing of their colleagues, Rahul Bhat and Rajini Bala, by terrorists.
While Bhat was shot dead inside his office in central Kashmir's Budgam district on May 12, Bala, a school teacher, was gunned down in south Kashmir's Kulgam on May 31 last year. Another protester, Ruban Saproo, said the lieutenant governor-led Union territory administration needs to hold talks with them rather than compelling them to rejoin their duties in the valley.
"One more Kashmiri Pandit sacrificed his life for the nation, despite repeated assurances by the government that it has worked out a plan for the security of the community. We acknowledge the efforts of the administration in providing security to them but there is a need to restore our shaken confidence and trust," he said.
Kaproo appealed to LG Manoj Sinha not to force them to resume their jobs in the valley after Sharma's killing and to accept their demand for relocation elsewhere. "We can perform our duties only when we are alive. The government can utilise our services in Jammu as well," a woman protester said, adding that they do not feel safe in the valley. Meanwhile, activists of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena Dogra Front and Rashtriya Bajrang Dal separately staged protests against targeted killings and demanded adequate security arrangements for the safety of the minority community members in Kashmir. Chanting anti-Pakistan and anti-terrorism slogans, BJP workers staged a protest at Kachi Chawni, the Shiv Sena Dogra Front at Rani Park and the Rashtriya Bajrang Dal near the city bus stand. The protesters burnt effigies of Pakistan for sponsoring terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. Dogra Sadar Sabha president and former Jammu and Kashmir minister Gulchain Singh Charak raised questions over the frequent targeted killings in Kashmir despite claims of normalcy. He demanded special security arrangements for the safety of people and adequate compensation to the bereaved family. The migrants' wing of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) also condemned Sharma's killing and demanded an end to targeted killings. "Some concrete steps should be taken against the targeted killings of minority community members," it said in a statement.&nbsp;

Jaipur: Widows of three soldiers who lost their lives in the Pulwama terror attack in 2019 held a protest in Jaipur on Sunday against the non-fulfilment of promises made to them by the Rajasthan government.
They also sought permission from Governor Kalraj Mishra to end their own lives. However, Rajasthan Minister Pratap Khacha-riyawas said that the government is always there to provide all possible help to the families of the soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty. "We respect the widows and families of martyrs a lot. We have given all support and package to the family of martyrs. We are always there to provide all possible help," Pratap Khachariyawas said. The women protesters also alleged that police assaulted them while they went to meet CM Ashok Gehlot on Saturday. BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Kirodi Lal Meena who has been sitting on a dharna here with the family members of the martyrs for the last few days said that the widows of martyrs were "insulted".
"Yesterday's incident was very shameful. Widows of martyrs were insulted. During their meeting with Guv, the widows told their problems after which Governor asked them to meet CM," Meena said.

Kashmir News (The Hawk): The Chanapora Police claimed that the racket led by Irshad Ahmad Bhat, son of Shaban Bhat from Pampore, and Mohd Shafi Hajam, son of Abdul Qayoom Hajam from Pulwama, and others, were nabbed on Monday evening based on specific information.

The police conducted a raid in the Bagh-e-Mehtab area and apprehended people on the spot during the operation. These people, all of whom were locals of Srinagar, include 4 sex workers and 2 customers who were also detained for questioning.

The racket was operated from a residence that was rented and belonged to Altaf Hussain Afaqi, son of Asadullah Afaqi of Chanapora.

At the Chanpura police station, a report was filed FIR No. 19/2023 under section 3, 4, and 8 of the Immoral Trafficking Act.

The authorities clarified that the landlord had failed to do proper tenant verification and he would be held criminally liable of crime.&nbsp;

At around 1.50 a.m. today, officials in the Chersoo village in the Pulwama district reported hearing gunshots near the steel authority of India godown, where a CRPF jawan was later found lying in a pool of blood.
"The jawan had died on the spot because of gunshot injuries. The jawan has been identified as constable Ajay Kumar of 112 battalion. Inquest proceedings have been initiated after completion of medico-legal formalities. "Acting on specific intelligence input, an intensive search was conducted by Pulwama Police in the apple orchards of Gudoora Pulwama," police said.&nbsp;
"During search operation, two terrorist associates were apprehended tactfully."
They have been identified as Suhail Firdous, resident of Mahradpora Utterpora Puchal and Shahid Gul, resident of Wagum Pulwama.
"From their possession incriminating materials were recovered. The investigation revealed that both the accused persons are terrorist associates of an active terrorist Aqib Sher Gojri linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT.
“Preliminary investigation also reveals that arrested terrorist associates were in a conspiracy with terrorist Aqib Sher-Gojri to carry out terrorist attacks in Pulwama," police said.&nbsp;
