New Delhi: Just a day ahead of the 75th Independence Day, Delhi Police on Sunday said they have apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals with nearly a dozen passports and 10 fake stamps of various ministries.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) M. Harsh Vardhan said that regular special checking drives are being conducted due to the upcoming Independence day and during one such drive in Ramphal Chowk, the police went to a house of two Bangladeshi nationals living there. The Bangladeshi nationals have been identified as Md. Mostafa (28) and Md. Husain Sheikh.
“On search, they were found to be in possession of 11 passports of different Bangladeshi citizens and also 10 fake stamps of various ministries and notaries of Bangladesh. About the fake rubber stamps, they had no substantive answer,” the DCP said.
Accordingly, the police have registered a case under the appropriate sections of the law (Foreigners Act and 468 IPC) against the two and have begun probing the matter. The accused duo stated that they used to act as agents for Bangladeshi nationals who come for medical treatment. “However the recovery of a large number of fake stamps from them is being investigated,” the official added.&nbsp;

Hyderabad (The Hawk): Ramachandra Bharati, the primary suspect in the poaching case against the TRS MLAs, is in possession of two passports, the Telangana Police's Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigation has discovered.
Bharati, one of the three defendants who was already being held in custody by the court, has now been charged with having two passports in two different identities.
Due to a complaint made by Assistant Commissioner of Police B. Gangadhar, a member of the SIT, a case has been opened against him at the Banjara Hills police station.
The police charged Bharati with violating sections 12 of the 1967 Passports Act as well as IPC sections 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc.), 468 (forgery with the intent to defraud), and 471 (using as genuine a forged document).
Both Bharat Kumar Sharma and Shree Ramachandra Swami Ji are names on the accused's passports.
The passports were issued in Karnataka in 2019 and feature several birth dates as well as various residences in Puttur.
This was discovered by the SIT when it examined the laptop and iPhone that had been taken from RBharati by the Cyberabad police on October 26 during a search of a farmhouse in Moinabad, close to Hyderabad.
He was detained together with two other suspects, Simhayaji and Nanada Kumar, while attempting to entice four TRS MLAs to defect to the BJP by offering them substantial sums of money.
Concerned officials will receive letters from the SIT asking for further information about the passports.
The investigators are looking into whether the suspect travelled overseas using both passports.
Forgery led to Bharati's arrest earlier this month. Pilot Rohit Reddy, a TRS MLA, filed a complaint, and Banjara Hills police arrested him for having fraudulent PAN, Aadhaar, and driver's licences.
Bharati, a priest from Faridabad in the state of Haryana, is said to be in close contact with several important BJP figures.
On November 3, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao held a press conference and unveiled images of Bharati's various identification documents.
He allegedly has driving permits, PAN cards, and Aadhaar under the names Shree Ramachandra Swami Ji and V. K. Satish Sharma.
This was a piece of the evidence that the chief minister presented in the controversial case that caused political tremors.
Bharati was detained by Cyberabad police on October 26 during a raid on a farm house in Moinabad, close to Hyderabad, along with Simhayaji, a pontiff from Tirupati, and Nanda Kumar, the proprietor of a restaurant in Hyderabad.
Pilot Rohit Reddy, who said that the accused offered him $100 million and $50 million to each of the other three people, provided the police with the tip that led to the arrests.

Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh (The Hawk): Afsar Ali, an 80-year-old Bangladeshi national living illegally in the city, was apprehended by the Firozabad police.
The man, a citizen of Bangladesh's Naogaon district, was discovered by the police outside the Firozabad railway station, according to Superintendent of Police (SP) city Sarvesh Kumar Mishra.
He claimed that in order to pray at the shrine, he had missed the train to Ajmer.
The SP said that he was unable to present his Bangladeshi passport.
He is the subject of a case under the Foreigners' Act and IPC.
"We are making an effort to reach his relatives. Security agencies have been given case specifics, "said the SP.

New Delhi: Delhi Police have registered an FIR after a highly decomposed body of a foreign national was found near an underpass in New Delhi's Geeta Colony area, an official said on Saturday.

According to police, the passport and other documents of the man identified as Bhagwat lutchmee, a Mauritius national, were recovered from the spot.

"The police teams are scanning CCTV cameras in the area to ascertain the crime sequence," said a senior police official, adding that investigation into the case is ongoing.

It is suspected that the man died around three days ago.

"Mauritius embassy was informed to ascertain if the man was missing and to find any other relevant details," the official added. IANS

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday said it has arrested two persons, including a Passport assistant posted at the Passport Seva Kendra in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar for allegedly demanding a bribe to issue passports. The arrested persons were identified as Ankush Kumar, an assistant at Passport Seva Kendra in Muzaffarnagar and Farhan, a private person.   On July 4, Abhishek Kumar, a resident of Mirzatilla in Muzaffarnagar, filed a complaint with CBI that he had applied online for a passport on May 1 at the passport office in Muzaffarnagar. He got the appointment date and submitted his documents and completed other formalities on June 19. "On July 3, when I went to the above office to inquire about my passport, Ankush and Farhan demanded a bribe of rupees 5000 and told me that I will get my passport at home in 10 days, otherwise the file will be stuck. I have already deposited my passport fee so did not want to pay the bribe," the complainant said. Passport Seva Kendra in Muzaffarnagar is an extension desk of the passport office in Ghaziabad. The CBI laid a trap and nabbed the accused while accepting the bribe of Rs 5,000, the official said. "Searches were conducted at the residential premises of the accused," the official said. Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court vacated an order by the state government granting police permission to hold a 51-year-old Pakistani national in connection with a case involving the alleged illegal acquisition of an Indian passport, and the man was subsequently released from a Central Prison here.
On July 13, a Bench consisting of Justice K Lakshman and Justice P Sree Sudha ordered the release of an inmate at the Cherlapally Central prison by the name of Shaik Gulzar Khan, also known as Gulzar Massih.
"The GO No. 599 issued by respondent No.1 (Telangana government) is illegal and the same is liable to be set aside," the bench wrote in its orders, rescinding the government order.—Inputs from Agencies

New Delhi: A Bangladeshi national, who had used a fake Indian passport when he arrived in India in 2016, was caught after he was deported from South Korea for overstaying.&nbsp;
Interestingly, his passport was found to be fake only after he arrived in India after the papers were scanned by the officials at IGI airport.&nbsp;
The officials said that on the fake passport, the accused identified as Anupam Barua, a resident of Banshkhali, Bangladesh, and he had travelled from India to Thailand, Bangladesh and South Korea.&nbsp;
According to the FIR, accessed by IANS, on August 25, one Indian male passenger, Anupam Chowdhary, a resident of Nagpur, as per Indian passport he was holding, arrived from South Korea at IGI Delhi.&nbsp;
"During questioning of the passenger it was found that he is a Bangladeshi national. It was further revealed during questioning that he arrived from Bangladesh to India through Haridaspur Land ICP using his Bangladeshi passport on April 10, 2015 and stayed in Kolkata for one day as transit," read the FIR.&nbsp;
"Then he went to Bodh Gaya, Bihar and stayed in a Buddhist monastery for two days. Then he went to Nagpur Maharashtra and with the help of one Joy Kumar he procured an Aadhar card and PAN card," the FIR further stated.&nbsp;
"With the help of these documents, he fraudulently obtained an Indian passport .To obtain these documents, he gave Rs 20,000 to his agent (Joy Kumar). After he illegally crossed into Bangladesh and again came to India on April 9, 2016 through Haridaspur Border and again went to Bangladeshi passport via Haridaspur Border on July 3, 2016," read the FIR.&nbsp;
"Again, he came to India using Bangladeshi passport on October 21, 2016 from Haridaspur Border. After coming to India, he went to Thailand using Indian passport on December 30, 2016 and came back to India on January 16, 2017," stated the FIR.&nbsp;
"Then again, he went to Bangladesh on January 19, 2017 using his Bangladeshi passport. Again, he came to India on April 24, 2017 via Haridaspur Border and never went back to Bangladesh as per immigration records," said a senior police official.&nbsp;
"Then using his Indian passport he went to South Korea and was working there as a construction labourer. He was caught by local police in South Korea for overstay and was deported to India on August 24," said the official.&nbsp;
"We have registered an FIR under section 419 (cheating by personation), 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (whoever fraudulently or dishonestly uses as genuine any document which he knows or has reason to believe to be a forged document) of the Indian penal Code, 12 passport act and 14 foreigners act at IGI police station," said the official.&nbsp;

New Delhi: CEO of economy carrier IndiGo, Pieter Elbers, on Tuesday described India as one of the most competitive aviation markets in the world.  Addressing the All India Management Association (AIMA) conference here, he further added that the competition in the market is huge.  Elbers said that India is an “incredible” aviation market and IndiGo is going through a “maturing phase”.
He underlined the need for having aviation hubs in India which is an underserved area. The IndiGo CEO said that India has the geographic advantage to become an aviation hub.  He pointed out that 65 per cent of the world population is within 5-6 hours of flying range and with India's own growing flying population, India should provide points of connection to international travellers in the region. He said that international connectivity is already increasing at Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad airports.  To fulfill India's ambition of becoming an international aviation hub, there needs to be deep collaboration between airports, airlines, and government, Elbers said. He pointed out that the top 20 cities in the world have dual airport systems and India's large cities need more than one airport.  The IndiGo CEO said that he monitors the number of new passports issued by the government because each new passport holder means a new international traveller. He pointed out that only 8-9 per cent of Indians have a passport.  Earlier this month, the airline announced that it will be launching direct flight connectivity between Delhi and Arunachal Pradesh.  The flight connecting Delhi and Itanagar will start operations from October 2, 2023.  As of now, IndiGo operates two direct flights from Itanagar’s Donyi Polo airport to Mumbai and Kolkata. These flights started operations on November 28, 2022.  The airline leads with a domestic market share of over 63 per cent.  It has also started expanding its operations internationally. IndiGo connects 32 international and 81 domestic destinations.

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has chargesheeted 24 operatives of international human trafficking syndicates involved in the trafficking of Bangladeshis and Rohingyas of Myanmar origin into the country with forged Indian identity documents for carrying out anti-national activities. The chargesheeted accused include four Bangladesh nationals and one Rohingya of Myanmar origin.
The chargesheet was filed on Monday, before the NIA Special Court, Assam (Guwahati) under various provisions of IPC, Foreigners Act and Passport (Entry into India) Act, 1920 read with Rule Passport (Entry into India) Rules, 1950. A total of 29 persons were initially arrested by the NIA in massive raids conducted across 39 locations in Tripura, Assam, Jammu Kashmir and West Bengal in coordination with the State police agencies. A large number of incriminating documents, forged Indian identity documents, bank documents and digital devices were seized during the raids. Subsequently, based on investigational leads, four more accused were apprehended from Tripura, taking the total number to 33. The case was initially registered by Assam Police under the Passport Act 1967 against some anti-social elements, following credible inputs that the organised human trafficking syndicates were involved in trafficking Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingyas of Myanmar origin into India with forged documents for carrying out anti-India activities. The NIA subsequently took over the case and re-registered it.  Investigations by the NIA revealed that international human trafficking syndicates were active along the India-Bangladesh international border in Tripura, Assam, West Bengal and other areas. These syndicates were regularly trafficking Rohingyas and Bangladeshis, and preparing forged Indian identity documents to settle them in various parts of the country. The network also had linkages with facilitators and traffickers operating in other parts of the country and across the border, as part of a larger network engaged in human trafficking activities through the India-Bangladesh border. Investigations further revealed that the syndicates on both sides of the border conspired and offered inducements to obtain the consent of the trafficked individuals. The accused would prepare forged Indian identity documents, and also arrange bookings, shelters, transportation and their further travel to the hinterland, as per the investigational findings.  The traffickers exploited the victims and arranged their employment in various unorganised sectors on meagre earnings and settled them in different parts of the country. The trafficked girls and women were exploited in various other forms by practising fraud and deception, with some Rohingya women also being sold to older men for marriage. As per the investigations, Indian ID documents were obtained by Bangladeshi nationals in connivance with local bodies on fake or forged supporting documents and certificates furnished by local officials. —ANI

Prima facie, nothing suspicious was found on the boat which was anchored at the Gateway of India on Tuesday, he said.  The trio hail from Tamil Nadu. They went to Kuwait two years back for work.
They were allegedly ill-treated by their agent who took them to Kuwait following which they escaped from there, the official said.  The boat was checked after it was anchored at the Gateway of India, he said.  A case was registered against the three people by the Colaba police under provisions of the Passports Act for illegal entry, the official said.  Notably, 10 Pakistani terrorists who launched a terror strike in Mumbai in November 2008 had arrived by the sea route.

Mumbai: The Mumbai police on Wednesday arrested three persons for entering India illegally, a day after they reached the metropolis on a boat from Kuwait, an official said.
The boat with the trio on board was anchored at the Gateway of India on Tuesday. Prima facie, nothing suspicious was found on the boat, he said.  The trio hails from Tamil Nadu.  After the boat was found, a case was registered against them by the Colaba police here, the official said.  "The police arrested them after filing a case under section 3 (a) with penal section 6 (a) of the Passport (Entry into India) Rules for not following the due procedures required for entering India," he added.  According to the official, the trio had gone to Kuwait two years back for work. They were allegedly ill-treated by their agent who took them to Kuwait following which they escaped from there.
Further investigation into the case was on, he said.  The incident has raised concerns over potential maritime security lapses.  Notably, 10 Pakistani terrorists who launched a terror strike in Mumbai in November 2008 had arrived by the sea route. The terror attacks had claimed the lives of 166 individuals and left more than 300 people injured.

Islamabad [Pakistan]: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) incurred a substantial penalty after one of its air hostesses reached Canada without a passport, as reported by ARY News, citing insider sources. According to sources, the air hostess was scheduled for duty on flight PK-781 from Islamabad to Toronto when the unprecedented incident occurred.
She travelled from Islamabad to Toronto using only PIA General Declaration documents, circumventing the standard passport requirement. In the aftermath of this breach, the national carrier faced a significant fine for permitting flight attendants to enter Canada without appropriate documentation. A spokesperson for PIA confirmed the imposition of a USED 250 fine for the incident, emphasising the gravity of the violation. However, the spokesperson refuted claims suggesting the air hostess had intentions to seek political asylum upon arrival in Canada.
It's worth noting that over the past two years, more than 10 PIA air hostesses have reportedly gone missing in Canada, sparking concerns regarding the welfare and safety of airline staff on international routes. Earlier this month, on March 1, another PIA cabin crew member was reported missing in Canada, as confirmed by the national airline spokesperson.
Jibran Baloch, a flight steward, was expected to return for duty on PIA flight PK-782 in Toronto on February 29, but failed to show up for work on the return flight to Pakistan. Recently, a female air hostess named Maryam Raza also disappeared from her hotel. Upon inspection of her hotel room, authorities discovered her uniform along with a note reading, "Thank you, PIA," according to ARY News. On March 14, Pakistan's Aircraft Owners and Operators Association (AOOA) released a white paper shedding light on the aviation industry's setbacks, attributing them to a lack of professionalism resulting in pilot license issues which led to the European Union (EU) countries imposing a ban on Pakistani airlines' operations in their territories, Dawn reported. In the white paper, the AOOA emphasised the importance of placing the right individuals in suitable positions within the industry. They outlined various reasons for the industry's decline and proposed measures to rectify it.

Siddharthnagar (Uttar Pradesh): Two Chinese nationals were arrested at Siddharthnagar's Kakrahwa post on the Indo-Nepal border after they were intercepted entering Uttar Pradesh illegally earlier yesterday. The man was identified as Zhou Pulin, a native of Sichuan in China, while the woman was identified as Yuan Yuhan, a native of Chongqing in China.
The police also recovered two Chinese passports, a tourist visa for Nepal, mobile phones, two Chinese SIM cards and a total of nine cards of different types in two small bags. According to an official press note, "Two Chinese nationals (one woman and one man) were arrested while entering India illegally on March 26, 2024. An FIR under Section 14(A) of the Foreigners Act 1946 was registered at the local police station after completing the legal proceedings and the accused were sent to the Honourable Court."
