The venue of the public function has been made out of bounds for the general public and a three-tier security arrangement has been made after conducting a full-fledged anti-sabotage checking, officials said. The administration has been making arrangements for the participation of one lakh people in the programme.The officials said checkpoints have been raised on all the roads leading to the venue, and vehicles and people using highways and peripheral roads in the area are being thoroughly checked and frisked. They said they have made elaborate deployments and carried out area-domination in view of the visit. Alertness in border areas has been raised and vigilance on vital installations in the region enhanced by various security agencies, they said. Security establishment carried out several drills on Friday including landing of choppers and movement of vehicles, they said. Sources said there are inputs about a greater threat perception this time.Intercepts have also been received about possible threats, they said, adding one group terrorist was neutralised Friday. Some high-end surveillance equipment have been inducted into security setup to ensure fool proof security, they said.In Jammu and Kathua, security has been beefed up with frisking and checking of vehicles increased, they said. This will be Modi's first visit to Jammu and Kashmir other than his trip to borders post since the abrogation of the special status of J&amp;K in August 2019. They were killed in an encounter, a police spokesman said.The duo came under the scanner of the security forces during tracking of a local LeT terrorist, named Lateef Rather alias Osama, who was involved in terror incidents in Srinagar and Budgam in the last two months, the police spokesman said.A week ago, the movement of Rather was confirmed in the Salindar area of Bandipora where he had gone to receive a fresh group of LeT terrorists who had infiltrated into the union territory, the spokesman said.The presence/movement of these terrorists was confirmed and shared with the Bandipora police. Accordingly, an operation was launched on May 11 resulting in the elimination of a local terrorist, identified as Gulzar Ahmed Ganaie of district Baramulla.However, the two Pakistani terrorists managed to escape from the spot. A police team kept following their footprints and their presence was confirmed technically in the Chadoora area of Budgam where the Kashmiri Pandit government employee was killed on Thursday.Thereafter, the spokesman said, their footprints were again confirmed in Brar and accordingly the operation was launched on Friday, resulting in their killing.He identified the slain terrorists as Pakistani nationals Faisal alias Sikander alias Mohsin and Ukasha.A hunt was underway for Rather alias Osama, the spokesman said.Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site in Brar and all the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation.Earlier in the day, Inspector General of Police of Kashmir Vijay Kumar said the two terrorists trapped in Brar were Pakistani and belonged to the LeT. They had infiltrated into Jammu and Kashmir recently. New Delhi: An Army soldier was arrested for sharing confidential and strategic information about the force with a woman Pakistani agent, a top intelligence official said Saturday. Posted in Jodhpur as a gunner, Pradeep Kumar was in contact with the woman agent of the Pakistani intelligence agency, he said, adding that the gunner was arrested after his movement was kept under surveillance for several days. It was observed that the soldier was in contact with the Pakistani agent through Facebook and WhatsApp and was sharing confidential information with her, the officer added. The accused was taken into custody on May 18 for interrogation and then arrested, the official said adding that Kumar, a Uttarakhand native, was recruited only three years ago.Kumar had received a call on his mobile phone from the woman nearly six months ago with the caller identifying herself as a military nursing service worker in Bangalore, the official said.She seduced Kumar into meeting her in Delhi and proposed to get married to him, the official said, adding once Kumar was honey-trapped, she began tricking him into parting with confidential information and documents through social media.Kumar was arrested following the registration of a case under the Official Secrets Act, 1923, the officer said, adding further investigation is on.—PTI

At one such naka at Najibhat crossing in Kreeri area, there was a chance encounter (with militants). Three Pakistani JeM terrorists were killed,” the IGP told reporters here. He said a policeman was also killed in the encounter. Kumar said while the police force was pained at the loss of one of its men, the killing of the three terrorists was a huge success. “The three terrorists could have come to Srinagar and carried out some big attack,” he said. The IGP said the terrorists were active in the hilly areas of Gulmarg for the last three to four months. “We were regularly tracking them,” he said, adding, so far this year, 22 Pakistani terrorists have been killed in various encounters with security forces.There will be increased attempts to neutralise Pakistani terrorists, Kumar added. Asked about the Tuesday's attack in Soura area of the city in which a cop was killed, while his daughter injured, the IGP said two local terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba behind the attack have been identified. “Adil from Ganderbal, a local commander of TRF/LeT, and another newly-recruited terrorist, are behind the killing. We will neutralise them soon,” he said. He said the slain cop's daughter was undergoing treatment at a hospital, but her condition is stable. A police search party picked up the movement of the drone at the border in Talli Hariya Chak area in the morning and fired at it, additional director general of police, Jammu, Mukesh Singh said.He said the drone was brought down after being hit by the ground fire.The bomb disposal squad, called to inspect the drone's payload, found seven magnetic bombs and an equal number of grenades compatible with UBGL attached to it, Singh said.The ADGP said police search parties were being regularly sent to the area because of the frequent drone activity from across the border.The 43-day-long Amarnath yatra is scheduled to start on June 30 on two routes -- the traditional 48-km course through Nunwan in south Kashmir's Pahalgam and the 14-km route through central Kashmir's Ganderbal.—PTI

Like all other times, the Shehbaz government took a dig at the former Prime Minister Imran Khan-led government and said that because of them he had to take the "difficult decision" to increase fuel prices with a "heavy heart".This comes in the context of the February 28, 2022, announcement by the Imran Khan government of relief measures to reduce prices of petrol and electricity are on account of Opposition pressure and public anger. The measures include a reduction in the prices of petroleum products and electricity tariffs by Rs 10 and Rs 5 respectively along with a number of new schemes including one on tax amnesty. Imran Khan's subsidies are perceived to have destroyed Pakistan's economy for the Shehbaz administration. Now, in this latest relief package announced by the Shehbaz government, the PM said that 14 million poor families, comprising 85 million people, would be given Rs 2000 per family.He said this was in addition to the monetary assistance being given to them under the Benazir Income Support Programme. "This relief package will be added in the next budget," Shehbaz said.Moreover, in a veiled attack, Shehbaz also slammed Imran Khan for his allegations against the US for conspiracy to oust him from power. "A most trusted friendly country -- the one that supported us in all difficult circumstances -- was made upset. Islamabad: Pakistan has lodged a strong protest against Indias recent blocking of many of its official Twitter accounts, including handles of Pakistani diplomatic missions in various countries.The Foreign Office on Saturday summoned Indian Charge d'Affairs in Islamabad to hand over a strong demarche, terming the Indian action being against international obligations and norms."The Indian Charge d'Affaires in Islamabad was called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today and a strong demarche was made on the Indian government's blocking of access to content of 80 accounts on Twitter including accounts of Pakistan's diplomatic Missions in Iran, Turkey, Egypt, UN-New York and the national broadcaster Radio Pakistan, by activating geo-blocking and censorship laws," said a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs."The Charge d'Affaires was conveyed that these Indian actions were against the international standards, obligations, norms, and framework of flow of information and reflected the alarming pace of shrinking space for pluralistic voices and curbing of fundamental freedoms in India." Pakistan maintained that blocking of its twitter accounts of its diplomatic missions abroad was a clear and deliberate attempt to block Pakistan's right to access to information and "fundamental freedom of opinion of expression"."It was noted that the new illegal practice employed by the Indian government of regulating the internet sphere with regard to diplomatic accounts, with a clear intent to stifle dissent stood completely against the rights to access to information and fundamental freedom of opinion or expression," the statement said.Pakistan was faced with this issue when at least 80 of its official twitter accounts of diplomatic missions in important countries were blocked by Twitter.Pakistan raised the matter with the micro-blogging site, and called for an immediate restoration of the handles which were banned by India."Diminishing the space for plurality of voices and access to info in India is extremely alarming. Social media platforms must abide by applicable international norms; we are urging twitter to restore immediate access to our accounts and ensure adherence to democratic freedom of speech and expression," the Foreign Office had said after it raised the matter with Twitter.Pakistan also accused India for blocking accounts of senior journalists and experts in India, who have been critical of the Central government and have questioned its policies."Government of India has been urged to immediately reverse its actions relating to the blocking of Pakistan's diplomatic Missions' Twitter accounts in India. Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE-100) Index is in the red as the bears, who attempt to profit from a decline in stock prices, continue to dominate proceedings of the stock exchange.KSE index lost nearly 550 points as of 11:34 am and was trading at 41,532.46 points, local media reported.Owing to quarter-end payments and delay in the revival of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme, the Pakistani rupee on June 21 breached 211-a-US dollar, losing PKR 2 during intra-day trading.This fall in the rupee's value against the greenback came after traders resorted to panic buying on reports that some commercial banks had run out of foreign currency. "The market is looking for a direction, therefore, investors are anticipating what would be the way forward. Will the coalition government announce early elections or not?" Tariq said.Meanwhile, Arif Habib Limited analyst Ahsan Mehnti is hopeful that the currency will recover soon as the IMF deal with the country will give it a "much-needed breather".The IMF on Saturday said that Pakistan will receive USD 1.7 billion in tranches in the coming three to six weeks.The IMF and Pakistan reached a staff-level agreement on Wednesday on the combined seventh and eighth reviews for a USD 6 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) loan facility. Pakistan hoped that this agreement would stabilise the country's economy and depreciate its currency. Meanwhile, IMF also hoped that it would bring down high inflation and end Pakistan's political instability.Since the beginning of this fiscal year (July 1, 2021) to date, the rupee has collectively dropped over 30.65 per cent (or PKR 48.29) compared to the previous fiscal year's close at PKR 157.54.The rupee has maintained a downward trend for the last 13 months. It has lost over 33.20 per cent (or PKR 50.56) to date, compared to the record high of PKR 152.27 recorded in May 2021, reported Geo News.&nbsp;—ANI

The Pakistani rupee has dropped to a record low against the US dollar with the exchange rate sliding to PKR 212, local media reported on Monday.

Srinagar:&nbsp;A suspected drone movement was detected and effectively repulsed by the Border Security Force (BSF) in the Arnia sector of Jammu, officials said on Thursday."Today at nearly 4:15 a.m. a blinking light suspected to be a drone observed in Arnia area. Alert BSF troops fired at it due to which it returned back. Height about 300 metres," BSF said.There have been several instances of weapon dropping by drones from Pakistan near the international border in Jammu by terrorists operating in Jammu and Kashmir.The BSF has recovered several weapon caches in the past and foiled the designs of terrorists and their handlers across the border.On May 7 and 14, drones from Pakistani side coming towards India were fired at and repulsed by the BSF.—IANS

Jammu: A policeman was injured and a Pakistani prisoner killed in firing on late Wednesday evening in J&amp;K's Jammu district.
"A police constable and a Pakistani (terrorist) Mohammad Ali Hussain alias Qasim/Jehangir, Commander of LeT, operating from jail, were injured during a weapon recovery operation by the police in Arnia sector near the International Border at Toph village. Both were shifted to the hospital for treatment where the injured terrorist succumbed," police said on its twitter page.
Pakistani prisoner Muhammad Ali Hussain had been instrumental in drone weapon dropping as he is a commander of LeT. He had admitted his role in Arnia weapon dropping and had disclosed two locations where he said the dropped weapons had been concealed, police sources said.&nbsp;
"Police team along with an executive magistrate took the Pakistani prisoner to the disclosed locations. No recovery was made at the first location, but a packet was discovered buried at the second location in Toph village of Arnia near the international border. However, when the packet was being opened, the Pakistani prisoner snatched the rifle of one of the policemen and tried to flee after firing at the police, injuring a police constable," sources said.
The fire was retaliated in which the prisoner was injured. Both the injured where shifted to hospital where the Pakistani prisoner succumbed.
Bomb disposal squad is handling the recovered packet of arms and ammunition, sources added.&nbsp;

Islamabad: Former Pakistani Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan's bail was extended till September 20 in an anti-terrorism case.An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad on Monday granted an extension in the pre-arrest bail plea of Imran Khan in a terror case for allegedly threatening Additional Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry during a public rally in Islamabad on August 20, reported Geo News.Last month, the court took notice of the former prime minister's speech at a public rally, where he allegedly threatened Islamabad additional sessions to judge Zeba Chaudhry for extending PTI leader Shahbaz Gill's remand. The party had moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to grant Khan transit bail till August 25, but the court had directed the former premier to approach an ATC as it was a terror case.The FIR registered against Khan states that he threatened Additional Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry and police officers at a rally in F-9 Park to "terrorise" police officials and the judiciary, reported Geo News.The main aim was to prevent the police officers and judiciary from carrying out their legal obligations, states the FIR. The FIR was registered on the complaint of Magistrate Ali Javed in Islamabad's Margalla Police Station under Section 7 of ATA.Earlier, Khan has not appeared before a joint investigation team (JIT) formed by the Islamabad Police to probe the matter despite three notices.At a rally at the F-9 park in Islamabad, the PTI chair had warned that he would "not spare" Islamabad's inspector-general, deputy inspector general, and female magistrate, vowing to file cases against them for allegedly torturing PTI leader Shahbaz Gill."We will not spare the IG and DIG," he said while addressing the rally. The former prime minister called out Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry, who had approved Gill's two-day physical remand at the request of the capital police, and said she, too, should prepare herself as the case will also be registered against her, reported Geo News. New Delhi (The Hawk): The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and ATS, Gujarat have jointly apprehended a Pakistani boat with six crew, carrying approximately 40 kilograms of drugs worth Rs 200 crore, from Indian waters. On the intervening night of September 13-14, 2022, the ICG, on the basis of intelligence inputs by ATS Gujarat, strategically deployed two fast interceptor class of ships - C-408 and C-454 - for patrolling in the area close to notional International Maritime Border Line (IMBL). A Pakistani boat was spotted moving suspiciously in Indian waters, five nautical miles inside notional IMBL and 40 nautical miles from Jakhau. On being challenged, the Pakistani boat over boarded a consignment and started evasive manoeuvring. Braving rough seas, the ICG ships intercepted the boat and apprehended it.&nbsp;
The boat is being brought to Jakhau for further joint investigation. This is the fifth such joint operation by the ICG and ATS, Gujarat in last one year. It highlights the importance of effective coordination amongst stakeholders for robust coastal security network.

New Delhi (The Hawk): Rajinder Premi, son of martyr Sarwanand Koul Premi, a well-known Kashmiri Pandit writer, and poet, who was gunned down by the Pakistani militants in 1990, filed a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Wednesday alleging government indifference to the families of those affected by terrorism.
"The Commission would appreciate it if the J&amp;K government understood the suffering of the complainant, who has not only been forced to leave his native state but also endured significant personal loss on the way to seeking redress. The family had been forcibly removed, causing them great distress from the perspective of society as a whole and also of the family members individually. A suitable amount that could be sufficient to recompense their personal, physical, and other losses is therefore expected to be sanctioned by the J&amp;K administration, and such compensation should be granted in a time-bound manner without delay "What the NHRC wanted to happen.
The Commission has also learned from public sources that the complainant's late father, Sarvanand Koul Premi, was a freedom fighter who collaborated with numerous notable figures and was recently honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his selfless contributions to society. On the 32nd anniversary of his death, the J&amp;K administration produced a monograph on his life and works written by renowned Kashmiri writer G.N. Aatish. Despite this, justice for the family of a terrorist in Kashmir has been delayed.
Even though the former J&amp;K SHRC had ordered the case to be transferred to a police officer with at least the rank of deputy superintendent of police (DSP), nothing has happened. The Commission has therefore ordered the Police Department to issue a fully revised and rectified FIR, including all factual details of trespassers, looting, kidnapping, etc.
Therefore, it is necessary for the J&amp;K government to launch a new investigation team to reexamine the horrible acts and bring the perpetrators to justice as soon as as.
The Commission has voiced its concern with the J&amp;K government's response to the early orders of construction of a cultural centre at S.K. Premi's native spot in Soaf Shali, Anantnag, and remembrance of his literary and cultural work.
It was noted that this case has been open since 2012, making the elapsed time about 9 years.

Palanpur, Gujarat (The Hawk): A Pakistani teenager was detained by railway police in Gujarat's Banaskantha while attempting to elope with a Kutch girl.
While on patrol at the Bhildi railway station, head constable Ashokbhai Aal and his group came across the couple.
The young man, later identified as Prabhuram Desai, 24, was in possession of a Pakistani passport, the police discovered after making inquiries. His visa was only good for the Jalor area of Rajasthan and was valid until October 2023.
Aal claimed that in accordance with Sections 3(2)(d) and (e) of the Foreign Act of 1946, he is not permitted to leave the territory for which he has been issued a visa to visit and must first obtain permission from the relevant police station or the Immigration Department.
He visited Gujarat without permission and made contact with the Kutchi girl, who is a year older than him.
According to police officials, the girl has been given to her parents, and the juvenile will appear in court.
When questioned, the girl admitted that the boy is a martial arts instructor, and that they fell in love after training together a few years ago when he visited Kutch.

Within hours of being detained on Tuesday while attempting to cross over to the Indian side, Shahzad, a resident of Rangoor village in Pakistan, was repatriated, according to officials, at a flag meeting between the BSF and Pakistan rangers in the Ramgarh sector of the IB.
