Kalaburagi, Karnataka (The Hawk): On Tuesday, the state of Karnataka observed the Kannada Rajyotsava (Karnataka Formation Day), and protests were heard.
While attempting to hoist a separate flag calling for statehood for the Kalyan-Karnataka region, formerly known as the Hyderabad-Karnataka territory, Karnataka Police detained 20 individuals in Kalaburagi city.
The protesters urged that the state governments should stop treating the Kalyan-Karnataka region if they were stepmothers and instead stop neglecting it.
The Kalyan Karnataka Separate State Agitation Committee organised the protest, which was led by the committee's president, S. Patil. The people of the region, which includes the districts of Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal, Ballary, and Vijaynagar, have long called for the creation of a separate state.
When the protesters attempted to hoist the Kalyan Karnataka flag at the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Circle in Kalaburagi while carrying placards calling for the creation of a separate state, the police detained them.
The city and other areas of the area are under intense surveillance. The Kalyan Karnataka Regional Development Board (KKRDB) was created by the Karnataka government, and the region was also granted a special status under Article 371(J) of the constitution.
However, the protesters assert that nothing has changed in the area and that only the establishment of an independent state will bring about growth. Additionally, they believed that southern Karnataka politicians control the situation and that the region has been purposefully ignored.
Additionally, they claimed that Article 371 has not been implemented by the state (J). The most economically and socially backward districts in the state are those in the Kalyan Karnataka area.

Kalaburagi, Karnataka (The Hawk): According to authorities, a 16-year-old boy has been detained in connection with the rape and murder of a young girl in the Kalaburagi neighbourhood.
The results of the investigations showed that the accused boy had a porn addiction. He spent most of his time watching pornographic films while continually on his phone, according to the police.
The 15-year-old girl, who had gone outside to answer nature's call, was discovered dead on Tuesday evening. According to the first findings, the girl was killed after becoming the victim of a group rape.
Isha Panth, the superintendent of police in Kalaburagi, organised a special team that made three arrests of children within a day. However, it was discovered throughout the inquiry that the 16-year-old accused juvenile was the one who had actually committed the crime.
The perpetrator sexually attacked the girl after dragging her into the sugarcane farm. The culprit strangled the victim to death with her dupatta after smashing her chest with a large stone. The boy committed the deed and then ran away.
The girl had scratches all over her body. According to the police, the accused followed the victim as soon as she left her house. According to authorities, he killed her out of concern that she may file a complaint.
The police squad will receive a financial incentive of Rs 1 lakh from Panth for solving the crime. She has additionally promised that the court would receive the case's charge sheet soon.
On Tuesday around 3 p.m., the victim had left the house to answer nature's call. The girl's relatives began looking for her after she was gone from home for an extended period of time. Finally, the villagers recognised her sandals, and the same day, late in the evening, the girl's body was discovered close to a sugarcane farm.
According to investigators, the child was enrolled in Class 9 and was staying with a cousin. Locals have expressed gratitude to the police department for finding the accused quickly.

16-year-old guy arrested for raping, murdering minor girl in K'taka

Kalaburagi, Karnataka (The Hawk): According to police, a 28-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of sexually abusing a 70-year-old woman in Kalaburagi district's Annuru village of Aland taluk.
The old woman's neighbour is the young man who was detained, Santhosh. The victim, a local of the town of Ladamuguli, had come to visit her grandchild.
Police claim that the woman was home alone when the alleged criminal Santhosh broke in and committed the crime.
When the granddaughter came home from work, she discovered the accused in the act of abusing the old woman. The district hospital has taken the victim on board.
Santhosh, the accused, was taken into custody by the police after she underwent medical testing.
There is an investigation going on.
Concerns have been sparked by the recent rape and murder of a young girl in the Aland Taluk. Within 24 hours of the incident, the police had solved the case and captured the suspected porn addict.

Kalaburagi, Karnataka (The Hawk): According to police, a BJP official has been arrested for making threats to kill Congress MLA Priyank Kharge in the Kalaburagi area of Karnataka.
A police report has been filed against Manikantha Rathod, a member of the BJP who responded to Kharge, the KPCC's social media coordinator and the son of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
Kharge had said he could make sure no BJP politician could move about the constituency.
Rathod replied, "We are prepared to die if you, Priyank Kharge, shoot us with an AK-47 gun, and we are also prepared to shoot you down."
"Like an army, we are standing behind all communities. We are prepared for death. You can use an AK-47 or a gun made in your nation to shoot us at will.
The office of Kalaburagi's superintendent of police is under siege as a result of a protest by Congress members against the BJP, who are also calling for action against the BJP leader.
In this case, Rathod was charged under IPC Section 506 for making a threat against life by Bramhapura Police, who also filed a FIR in this regard.
In the Kalaburagi district, the Kharge family has a significant impact on the general populace. By beating Mallikarjuna Kharge in the most recent parliamentary elections, the BJP was able to shock them. Kharge later won a seat in the Rajya Sabha.
Due to the BJP's support from influential Lingayats, the district also benefits from its influence.

Kalaburagi, Karnataka (The Hawk): A resounding reception greets newly-elected AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge on his debut visit to his home town Kalaburagi after taking over the coveted post, on Saturday.
The Congress and Dalit organisations have made extensive arrangements to give him a regal welcome when he lands here on Saturday. A convention called "Kalyana Kranthi" is being organised by the grand-old party, in which attendees from seven districts and 41 Assembly constituencies will take part.
After taking a special aeroplane from New Delhi to Kalaburagi, Kharge will be transported in a four-kilometer parade.
The party leader will thereafter participate in the convention being held on the N.V. College grounds.
At the convention will be the state director for the party, Randeep Singh Surjewala, the leaders of the opposition, Siddaramaiah, B.K. Hariprasad, and the Karnataka Congress, D.K. Shivkumar.
Political analysts describe the sizable convention as a demonstration of the Congress's political strength in north Karnataka.
Kharge has suffered a humiliating loss in the most recent parliamentary elections to BJP candidate Umesh Jadhav. He thereafter received the nomination to lead the opposition in the Rajya Sabha and later won the AICC President election.
Kharge, a respected figurehead for the underprivileged classes, detests the label "Dalit leader." However, he continues to serve as an inspiration for the state's exploited and oppressed classes.
Following their spectacular victory in the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections, the Congress leaders are anticipated to launch a furious attack on the ruling BJP during the convention.
The party must win back the votes of the Dalit and other exploited class groups in the state who switched allegiances to the BJP the previous election.
The Congress leaders will also hit on ruling BJP over its hardline Hindutva agenda. The party will also be given credit for making more space available for SCs and STs.

Karnataka welcomes Kharge on AICC chief's first visit

Kalaburagi (Karnataka): Former Karnataka minister Baburao Chinchansur, who recently joined Congress from BJP, was injured in a car accident in the city on Saturday.

While Chinchansur suffered serious injuries on face and legs, his gunman and the car driver escaped with minor injuries. He is undergoing treatment at the United hospital.

He is contesting from Gurmitkal constituency in Kalaburagi district on Congress ticket.

According to police, Chinchansur was travelling from Yadgir district to Kalaburagi at 1 a.m after campaigning. Near Akashwani building, his car turned turtle when the driver attempted to avoid a big pothole.

The locals rushed to the spot and rushed the Congress leader to a hospital in an ambulance. His condition is stated to be out of danger and he is responding well to the treatment, doctors said.

Chinchansur is a leader from Koli community and has vowed to defeat BJP in Hyderabad -Karnataka region.

He had played an important role in the defeat of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge in 2019 Lok Sabha elections. IANS

Bengaluru: In the run-up to the May 10 Karnataka Assembly polls, the high-voltage campaigning by national leaders in the state is set to continue on Wednesday as well.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who held a series of public rallies on Tuesday, is scheduled to address three public meetings during the day.

The national leaders are expected to spar over the Congress manifesto promising to take decisive action against organisations spreading hatred like the "Bajrang Dal" and the banned Popular Front of India (PFI).

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is set to participate in two public meetings in Indi and Bidar South. Besides, she will participate in a roadshow in Kalaburagi.

Meanwhile, Narendra Modi will tour communally sensitive coastal Karnataka and address a public meeting at Moodbidri near Mangaluru in Dakshina Kannada district. He will also address a massive public rally in Ankola of Uttara Kannada district.

At 4 p.m, Prime Minister Modi will also campaign in Bailhongal of Belagavi district. Belagavi is an important district for BJP as it has 18 Assembly segments. The saffron party is facing rebellion. Former DCM Laxman Savadi from BJP is now contesting as Congress candidate. He is fighting from Athani seat in the district.

Modi, Priyanka to continue campaigning in K'taka; Bajrang Dal ban issue to dominate

Kalaburagi: A head constable, who was trying to stop illegal sand transportation, was crushed to death in Karnataka's Kalaburagi district on Friday, the police said.
Acting on a tip-off about illegal transportation of sand, head constable Mysuru Chouhan and constable Pramod Dodmani went to Narayanapura village on a bike at 10 p.m. on Thursday.
The policemen chased a tractor in which sand was being transported illegally. The cops had asked the driver to stop the vehicle, who did not stop and instead ran over the bike.
Chouhan was crushed to death, while Dodmani escaped with minor injuries.
The accused identified as Siddappa, who had fled from the spot, was soon arrested by the police. A hunt is on to arrest another accused named Sayibanna.
Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwar has announced Rs 30 lakh compensation for the victim's family, besides promising job for a family member.
"It is unfortunate that a policeman has died on duty. We have already arrested one person and very soon the other accused will be nabbed. This is always a challenge for the police force. Similar incidents have happened in Udupi and other places. With the cooperation of the Revenue, Mining and PWD departments, we will take action to prevent such incidents," Parameshwar said.
State minister Priyank Kharge said: "I have spoken to the District Commissioner and Superintendent of Police and ordered an inquiry into the matter."
Another state minister M.C. Sudhakar said: "It is a shocking incident, and we need to take serious action against those behind it. Justice will be served."
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the sand was illegally mined from Bhima river in Kalaburagi district.
Before the Assembly polls in the state, an audio clip of an individual seeking "protection" of then MLA Priyank Kharge to carry out sand business had gone viral on social media. Kharge had flatly refused to help him and told him that he doesn't mind losing elections rather than supporting him.
Sand from the basins of Bhima, Kagina, Mullamari, Bennethora and Kamalavathi rivers in Kalaburagi district is in demand and its price is skyrocketing each passing day. The main supply is made to Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh from the bordering district of Kalaburagi.

Cop trying to stop illegal sand transportation crushed to death in K'taka 

Kalaburagi: The police, in Karnatakas Kalaburagi district have imposed orders in Wadi town. They invoked Section 144 of the CrPC after a disturbance occurred during a procession carrying the idol of Lord Ram as announced on Tuesday. To maintain law and order the enforcement of Section 144 will be effective until 6 am on January 25 as a measure.  According to the police report there was an altercation during the procession on Monday. It originated from an alleged incident of stone pelting between two groups. The situation escalated due to an argument among the factions leading to police intervention. The police used 'mild' force to disperse the crowd. The procession was held to celebrate the consecration of Lord Rams idol at Ayodhyas Ram temple.  "It was simply an altercation—an argument that got out of hand. Our police quickly brought the situation under control. While there is no tension in the area prohibitory orders have been implemented in Wadi area of Chittapur taluk as a measure. These orders will remain in effect until 6 am on January 25th. The situation is now, under control " said a senior police officer. At the time there was tension, in areas of the district on Tuesday as different Dalit organizations protested against the supposed vandalism of a statue of Dr. B R Ambedkar in Kotnoor village just outside Kalaburagi city according to police reports.  The protesters accused troublemakers of disrespecting the Ambedkar statue by placing a garland made of footwear on it. Demanded action against those responsible. The police officer reassured that they are working to identify the culprits and will take measures against those involved in this alleged incident. He also mentioned that although the incident occurred on Monday night their team is present, at the scene and has managed to bring the situation under control.
