Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday regained its full strength of 34 judges as chief justice of Gauhati high court Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Gujarat high court judge Justice Jamshed B Pardiwala took oath as apex court judges.Chief Justice of India N V Ramana administered the oath of office to justices Dhulia and Pardiwala during a function at the newly-built auditorium of the additional building complex of the apex court.With the appointment of Justice Dhulia and Justice Pardiwala, the top court regained its full strength of 34 judges, which had come down to 32 after the retirement of Justice R Subhash Reddy on January 4 this year.Justice Pardiwala will go on to serve as the CJI for over two years, sources aware of the procedure to appoint members of the higher judiciary said.Justice Dhulia, who will be the second judge to be elevated from Uttarakhand, is the sibling of national award-winning film director and actor Tigmanshu Dhulia. He will have a tenure of a little over three years.After the apex court collegium headed by the CJI recommended the names of the two high court judges, the Union law ministry swiftly processed the files on Saturday last which led to the issuance of the warrant of appointment same day from the office of President Ram Nath Kovind. The CJI, with the appointment of two more judges, has created a history of sorts by administering oath of office to 11 apex court judges so far.Justice Pardiwala will be the fourth judge from the Parsi community to adorn the top court bench and the first high court judge from the minority community who has been elevated in the last five years, after Justice S Abdul Nazeer.Justice Nazeer was elevated to the Supreme Court in February 2017.Justice Dhulia, born on August 10, 1960, is from Madanpur, a remote village located in Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. He joined the Bar at Allahabad high court in 1986.An alumnus of Sainik School, Lucknow, he did his graduation and law from the University of Allahabad.Justice Dhulia was the first chief standing counsel in the high court of Uttarakhand and was later an additional advocate general, and was elevated as the judge in the same high court in November 2008.He later became the chief justice of the high court of Assam, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh on January 10, 2021.Justice Pardiwala, born on August 12, 1965, started practising law in the high court of Gujarat in 1990.The CJI, who himself will demit office on August 26 this year, has been successful in evolving consensus in the five-judge collegium to unanimously recommend a record number of 11 names so far, since August last year.The apex court, which did not get a single judge after the superannuation of the then CJI Ranjan Gogoi on November 17, 2019, had nine existing vacancies when CJI Ramana took over, and the high courts had around 600 vacancies.The collegium then ensured the filling up of nine vacancies in the Supreme Court in August last year in one go, and Justice B V Nagarathna, one of three women judges, would become the first woman CJI.The year 2022 is going to be the second year since the inception of the top court in 1950 which will see three different CJIs in as many months.The incumbent CJI, who will demit office on August 26, will be succeeded by Justice Uday Umesh Lalit having a tenure of a little over two months.Justice Lalit's retirement in November will pave the way for Justice D Y Chandrachud to take over as head of the judiciary for a term of a little over two years. Justice Dhulia hails from Madanpur, a remote village located in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand.His paternal grandfather Bhairav Dutt Dhulia was a freedom fighter and was sentenced to seven years in jail for his participation in the 'Quit India Movement' (he served a jail sentence for about three years, before he was released, along with other freedom fighters). He was a Sanskrit scholar and an Ayurvedacharya.His father Justice Keshev Chandra Dhuliya was a Judge at Allahabad High Court. Justice Dhulia has two brothers. His elder brother Himanshu Dhulia is a retired Naval Officer and the younger, Tigmanshu Dhulia, is a national award-winning film director. Justice Dhulia was born on August 10, 1960, in Lansdowne, Pauri Garhwal and had his early education in Dehradun and Allahabad. He is an Alumni of Sainik School, Lucknow and did his graduation and Law from the University of Allahabad. He was a keen debater and a sportsman in school and college days.He was the first Chief Standing Counsel in the High Court of Uttarakhand and was later an Additional Advocate General for the State of Uttarakhand. He was designated as a senior advocate in 2004. He was elevated as the judge of the High Court of Uttarakhand in November 2008 and later became the Chief Justice of the High Court of Assam, Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh on January 10, 2021. Justice Pardiwala is the fourth Parsi to adorn the bench of the Supreme Court. He will have a tenure of about two years and three months as Chief Justice of India. The elevation of a Judge from a minority community is happening after a gap of five years. Justice S Abdul Nazeer was elevated to Supreme Court in February 2017. Justice Pardiwala was born on August 12, 1965, in Mumbai and did his schooling in St. Joseph Convent School in his home town Valsad (South Gujarat). He graduated from the J P Arts College, Valsad. He went on to obtain a degree in Law from the KM Mulji Law College, Valsad in 1988.Justice Pardiwala is a fourth-generation legal professional in the family of lawyers. His father late Burjor Cawasji Pardiwala practised law for 52 years in the districts of Valsad and Navsari. He had also served as the Speaker of the 7th Legislative Assembly of Gujarat for a brief while. His grandfather and great-grandfather were also lawyers and practised in the districts of Valsad and Navsari. Justice Pardiwala started practising law in the High Court of Gujarat in the year 1990. He was elected as a member of the Bar Council of Gujarat in the year 1994. New Delhi: In an unusual coincidence, the two judges of a Supreme Court bench hearing a plea against the survey of the Gyanvapi-Shringar Gauri complex in Varanasi have had an association with a similar kind of dispute relating to the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri masjid issue as well. A bench comprising justices DY Chandrachud and PS Narasimha Tuesday directed the district magistrate of Varanasi to ensure protection of the area inside the Gyanvapi-Shringar Gauri complex where a 'Shivling' is said to be found in the survey and allowed Muslims to offer namaz and perform "religious observances". The committee has sought a stay of the Varanasi civil court-mandated survey. Justice Chandrachud is hearing a case involving a temple-mosque dispute for the second time.He was part of a five-judge constitution bench headed by the then CJI Ranjan Gogoi which on November 9 had cleared the way for the construction of a Ram temple at the disputed site at Ayodhya, and had directed the Centre to allot a 5-acre plot to the Sunni Waqf Board for building a mosque.Justice Narasimha, before becoming a judge of the top court, was associated with the case as a senior lawyer, who appeared for the Hindu side in the Ayodhya case.He had argued before the constitution bench for Rajendra Singh, the survivor of Gopal Singh Visharad, in the case.Visharad had first approached the court in 1950 for a declaration that he is "entitled to offer worship without any obstruction according to the rites and tenets of his religion at the birthplace of Lord Shri Ram Chandra".—PTI

Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi administered the oath of office to Justices Tara Vitasta Ganju, Mini Pushkarna, Vikas Mahajan, Tushar Rao Gedela, Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora, Sachin Datta, Amit Mahajan, Gaurang Kanth and Saurabh Banerjee. The central government had notified the appointment of the newly sworn-in judges -- who were practising lawyers-- on May 13. The swearing-in ceremony took place in the court of the Chief Justice in the presence of other high court judges, lawyers and family members of the newly sworn-in judges. The Supreme Court collegium had approved the proposal for elevation of Justices Ganju and Pushkarna as judges of the high court in August 2020.The apex court collegium had recommended the names of the other judges earlier this month. The new appointments take the total number of judges in the high court to 44, including 12 women judges. The sanctioned strength of the high court is 60.—PTI

New Delhi: The Supreme Court Monday said that making allegations against judges is 'unfortunately' becoming a new fashion now and the stronger the judge, greater the allegations against him. The apex court, while hearing an appeal filed by an advocate who was found guilty of contempt by the Madras high court and was sentenced to undergo two weeks of simple imprisonment, observed that making allegations against judges is rampant in Uttar Pradesh and now it is happening in Bombay and Madras also. The top court said the conduct of the appellant was 'thoroughly contemptuous' and besides levelling wanton allegations against the single judge of the high court who had issued a non-bailable warrant against him, the recusal of one of the judges hearing the proceedings thereafter was sought on thoroughly improper grounds.“Now, this is becoming unfortunately a new fashion of making allegations against judges. The stronger the judge, the greater the allegations against the judge. This is happening now in Bombay. Of course, it is rampant in Uttar Pradesh, now Madras,” a vacation bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and Bela M Trivedi said. “Let a strong message go,” said the bench, adding that judges are assaulted across the country and in the district judiciary, sometimes not even a&nbsp;lathi&nbsp;(stick) wielding policeman is there for their protection.While refusing to interfere with the high court's March order this year, which had also directed that the advocate shall not practise before it for a period of one year, the apex court observed that one can annoy the court but cannot level wanton allegation like this when the process of the court is sought to be served.The bench said after the single judge had issued an NBW against the advocate and the police went to serve him when he was there at a tea shop near the high court, hundreds of lawyers lay upon the police and prevented the NBW from being served.It said CCTV footage of the incident was also there and to compound it further, when the matter was heard by the court, the advocate had made allegations against the single judge who had issued the NBW against him.The counsel appearing for the appellant said the advocate has tendered an unconditional apology.The bench observed that the appellant belongs to a class of lawyers who are “absolutely incorrigible” and there is a blot on the legal profession.It said this is the only way to deal with these kinds of people and a two-week sentence is actually very lenient.The appellant's counsel said that in the appeal, they have not raised any ground but tendered unconditional apology and the conduct of the appellant may be monitored by the high court.“Let him exercise some remorse. There will be some remorse when he goes to jail for two weeks and when he is barred for a year from practising,” the bench said.The appellant's counsel urged the bench to give him one opportunity and he has tendered an apology also.“The behaviour and conduct of the appellant was thoroughly contemptuous. There was a clear attempt to obstruct the process of justice when the NBW was sought to be served on him by the competent police officials,” the bench said.“That apart, wanton allegations have been levelled against the single judge of the Madras high court who issued the NBW and a recusal was sought even of one of the judges hearing the proceedings thereafter on thoroughly improper grounds,” it said, adding the finding on contempt as well as the sentence, cannot be regarded as disproportionate.When the counsel requested the bench not to record some lines which the bench had dictated in the order, the top court said it is dealing with a criminal appeal and it has to apply its mind.“Otherwise, we will not be doing justice to our jurisdiction,” the bench observed.“Lawyers are also subject to the process of law. We are all citizens of the State,” it said.In its order, the high court had noted that two persons had initiated insolvency proceedings under sections 9 to 13 of the Presidency Towns Insolvency Act 1909, against the advocate and the matter was being heard by a single judge bench. It had noted that the single judge had issued an NBW against the lawyer and when the warrant was sought to be executed by the police, the cops were prevented from executing it. Later, the high court had seen the footage of the incident and said that a prima facie case of contempt was made out for obstructing the police officials from executing the orders of the court.—PTI

Alappuzha: In the wake of recent provocative sloganeering, Kerala Popular Front (PFI) leader Yahiya Tangal on Saturday made a controversial remark against the High Court judges saying their "innerwear is saffron". At a rally in Alappuzha, Tangal said, "Courts are getting shocked easily now. High court judges are getting shocked after hearing the slogans of our Alappuzha rally. Do you know the reason? The reason is that their innerwear is saffron. Since it's saffron, they will get heated very fast. You will feel the burn and it will disturb you."In the viral video, a boy in a PFI rally in Alappuzha was seen raising the slogan that "Hindus should keep rice for their last rites and Christians should keep incense for their last rites. If your live decently, you can live in our land and if you don't live decently, we know Azadi (freedom). Live decently, decently, decently." This came as a direct threat to the Hindu and Christian population living in Kerala, with PFI warning the death penalty if they don't fall in line. The Kerala Police on Friday arrested 18 more people in connection with the PFI sloganeering case.Kerala High Court has directed police to take appropriate action against the Popular Front of India in connection with alleged provocative sloganeering in connection with the May 21 rally held in Alappuzha. Earlier, PFI state president CP Muhammad Basheer on Tuesday said that the slogan was against Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Advocate Anish Dayal has been appointed judge and advocate Amit Sharma as additional judge of the Delhi High Court. The additional judges of the Madras High Court, who have been appointed as judges are: Govindarajulu Chandrasekharan, Ganesan Ilangovan, Ananthi Subramanian, Veerasamy Sivagnanam, Kannammal Shanmuga Sundaram, Murali Shankar Kuppuraju, Manjula Ramaraju Nalliah, Sathi Kumar Sukumara Kurup, and Thamilselvi T. Valayapalayam.The Centre also appointed judicial officers Shampa Dutt (Paul) and Siddhartha Roy Chowdhury as additional judges of the Calcutta High Court. Besides these appointments, the government also extended the term of A.A. Nakkiran, additional judge of the Madras High Court, for one year.—IANS

Jaipur: In a first for the Rajasthan High Court, a couple will be serving as its judges.Subha Mehta and Kuldeep Mathur were appointed judges to the high court by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice on June 3.Shubha Mehta's husband Mahendra Goyal is already a judge in the high court and it is for the first time that both husband and wife are judges in the Rajasthan High Court.While Shubha Mehta is from the judicial service, Kuldeep Mathur has been a lawyer.Justice Mahendra Goyal, also a lawyer, was appointed in November 2019.With the appointment of Subha Mehta and Kuldeep Mathur, the number of judges in the high court will now increase from 25 to 27.However, 23 posts remain vacant as the sanctioned posts of judges is 50.In December 2020, Justice Murali Shankar Kuppuraju and his wife Justice Tamilselvi T Valayapalayamand were sworn in as judges of the Madras High Court on the same day.Before that, Justice Vivek Puri and Justice Archana Puri were sworn in as judges of the Punjab High Court on the same day in November 2019.—PTI

New Delhi: A group of former Supreme Court and High Court judges along with senior advocates on Tuesday wrote a petition letter to the Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana to take suo motu cognizance against recent demolition drives in Uttar Pradesh in the aftermath of 'Prophet remarks row'.The letter, signed by 12 former judges including former Supreme Court Judges -- Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, Justice V. Gopala Gowda, Justice A.K. Ganguly, and senior lawyers, has urged the Court to stop the "deteriorating law and order situation" in the state.Recent remarks made by certain BJP spokespersons (since suspended from the office) on Prophet Mohammed have resulted in protests in multiple parts of the country and particularly in Uttar Pradesh.Instead of giving protesters an opportunity of being heard and engage in peaceful protests, the Uttar Pradesh administration appears to have sanctioned taking violent action against such individuals, the letter stated."The Chief Minister has reportedly officially exhorted officials "to take such action against those guilty that it sets an example so that no one commits a crime or takes the law into their hands in the future. He has further directed that the National Security Act, 1980, and the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, 1986, be invoked against those found guilty of unlawful protests. It is these remarks that have emboldened the police to brutally and unlawfully torture protesters," it read.Further, it said that videos of young men in police custody being beaten with lathis, houses of protesters being demolished without notice or any cause of action, and protesters from the minority Muslim community being chased and beaten by the police, are circulating on social media, shaking the conscience of the nation.Such a brutal clampdown by a ruling administration is an unacceptable subversion of the rule of law and a violation of the rights of citizens, and makes a mockery of the Constitution and fundamental rights guaranteed by the state."... we urge the Supreme Court to take immediate suo motu action to arrest the deteriorating law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, specifically involving the high-handedness of the police and state authorities, and the brutal clampdown on the fundamental rights of citizens. We hope and trust the Supreme Court will rise to the occasion and not let the citizens and the Constitution down at this critical juncture," the letter urged. Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan on Thursday administered the oath of office to four judges and three additional judges appointed newly to the state High Court. The new judges were sworn-in at an official function at Tummalapalli vari Kshetrayya Kalakshetram in Vijayawada. Adusumilli Venkata Ravindrababu, Vakkalagadda Radhakrishna Krupasagar, Bandaru Syamsundar and Vutukuru Srinivas were sworn-in as judges of the High Court. Boppana Varahalakshmi Narasimha Chakravarthi, Tallapragada Mallikarjuna Rao and Duppala Venkata Ramana, who were sworn-in as Additional Judges of the High Court. With this, the total number of judges in the High Court, including the Chief Justice, went up to 30. Lucknow (The Hawk): When a judge's wife attempted to raise her credit card's limit, she was defrauded of Rs 13 lakh by online criminals.
In her FIR, the complainant told the police that she had looked up the helpline number for her private bank online because she wanted to raise the credit card limit on it.
A scammer acting as a bank employee called her at the number and requested that she transfer Rs 15,000 to a bank account in order to enhance her credit limit. He promised that the money will be returned on November 25.
When the complainant did not receive the reimbursement, she allegedly called the number once more. The scammer gave her a link and requested that she fill out a form with information about her bank account.
"On November 28, a payment totaling Rs 13 lakh was taken as a loan from my bank account," she claimed. "I did not receive my money back."
Inspector Ranjeet Singh of the cyber cell stated that, on the surface, it appeared that the fraudster gained remote access to her phone in order to access her account information and obtain a loan.
"A FIR has been filed by us. The whereabouts of the scammers is being sought after, "added said.
According to Singh, scammers are posting their phone numbers on Google under the guise of a customer service helpline.
In order to access callers' mobile phones and gain access to their bank account information and one-time passwords, they ask them to download an app.
"Under no circumstances should you divulge any banking information, including card numbers, CVVs, ATM pins, banking passwords, and one-time passwords (OTPs), to anyone over the phone or by email. No reputable bank or business generally requests sensitive information from clients by phone or email "the policeman stated.

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre compared the 'India's Best Dancer 3' contestant Shivam Wankhede with Govinda after his dance performance on 'Dil Na Diya' from Hrithik Roshan's 'Krrish'.

He stunned the judges and celebrity guest Remo D'Souza with his dance moves.

Sonali said: "I see Govinda ji in your dance."

Remo praised Shivam and his choreographer Sonali Kar for their dance performance and said : "It felt as if electricity passed through me, and you shook me."

He added that many contestants came and showed their talent but these two just left everyone behind and the dance moves were completely different from the original one.

"We saw so many great performances and then these two came on stage to say, 'we are here as well' I have seen this song in the film, and it had some brilliant dance moves, but watching this performance live, what you have done today is something else," concluded Remo.

'India's Best Dancer 3' is judged by Terence Lewis, Geeta Kapur, and Sonali Bendre.

New Delhi: On Monday, a committee in the Parliament suggested that a bill be introduced to require judges of the Supreme Court and high courts to report their assets annually to the relevant body.
The standing committee on Law and Personnel has recommended making it mandatory for judges to disclose their financial holdings on a regular basis. It noted that the public would be more likely to have faith in the system after hearing such a remark from senior judges.
According to the committee, the most recent Supreme Court order regarding the voluntary declaration of assets by judges is not being followed.—Inputs from Agencies

New Delhi: A Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court headed by CJI DY Chandrachud has held that it would be contrary to the public interest to unseat candidates who were selected in Kerala Higher Judicial Service, through an “illegal” and “arbitrary” selection procedure.  The bench, also comprising Justice Hrishikesh Roy, PS Narasimha, Pankaj Mithal and Manoj Misra, held that to deprive the state and its citizens of the benefit of these experienced judicial officers at a senior position would not be in public interest.  Also, the apex court said that it would be contrary to the public interest to direct the induction of the petitioners into High Judicial Services after the lapse of more than six years.  Initially, a notification was issued by the Kerala High Court in September 2015 stipulating that “the merit list of successful candidates will be prepared on the basis of the total marks obtained in the written examination and viva-voce” and there was no cut off in respect of the marks to be obtained in the viva-voce while drawing up the merit list in the aggregate.  Later in 2017, after the viva-voce was conducted, the Administrative Committee of the High Court passed a resolution where it decided to apply the same minimum cut-off marks which were prescribed for the written examination as a qualifying criterion in the viva-voce.  The High Court reasoned that it was necessary to select candidates with a requisite personality and knowledge which could be ensured by prescribing a cut-off for the viva-voce in terms similar to the cut-off which was prescribed for the written examination.  It observed that recruitment of candidates who performed well in the written examination, even though they fared badly in the viva-voce, would be a disservice to the public at large because they possessed only “bookish” knowledge and lacked practical wisdom.  Aggrieved candidates, who were ousted from selection though they would rank higher than many of the candidates who have been selected, instituted petitions before the Supreme Court.  The matter was referred to the Constitution Bench to decide as to whether it is open in law after a selection process is instituted, to change the rules of the game midstream.  The Constitution Bench did not decide the broader constitutional issue which was referred to but held that the decision taken by the High Court was ultra vires Rule 2(c)(iii) of the Kerala State Higher Judicial Services Special Rules, 1961.  The Supreme Court said that the High Court, being a constitutional and public authority, has to bear in mind the principles of good administration while performing its administrative duties. “The principles of good administration require that the public authorities should act in a fair, consistent, and predictable manner,” it said.  The Constitution Bench said that though petitioners would rank higher than three candidates if the aggregate of marks in the written examination and viva-voce were taken into account, but unseating selected candidates would, besides being harsh, result in a situation where the higher judiciary would lose the services of duly qualified candidates who have gained experience over the last six years in the post of District Judge. —IANS

New Delhi: Nine retired judges have written to G20 leaders in advance of India's hosting of the summit, pleading for a humanitarian solution in the form of the repatriation of Indian children who have been taken from their families by state child agencies in western Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia and New Zealand. Those who have signed include former Supreme Court justices Ruma Pal, Vikramajit Sen, A. K. Sikri, and Deepak Gupta; the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, A. P. Shah; the Chief Justice of the High Court of Odisha, S. Muralidhar; and Justices Manju Goel, R. S. Sodhi, and R. V. Easwar, all of whom sat on the Delhi High Court.
The retired judges claimed that Indian children put with foster carers overseas suffer from isolation and identity loss when they are separated from their families and communities. They urged the G20 Summit to address this issue.
They said that every year, some children of expat families have to be taken into protective custody by authorities in their country of residency due to abuse, neglect, or risk of harm. Children in this situation are turned over to the foreign country's child protection agency. Since these children have no relatives living in their current nation, they are not eligible for kinship care, despite the fact that this is a right to which all children are entitled when parental custody is terminated, according to the letter. The retired judges argued that rather than having the children spend their entire childhoods in foreign state custody, it would be more humanitarian and compassionate to repatriate them to a safe placement in their native country. Child protection processes in these nations, they added, appear to require a greater knowledge of cultural variations and the supply of good quality translators. The letter alludes to situations in Norway and the United States that need intervention from the Government of India. They also bring up the current instances in Germany and Australia, the latter of which ended in the suicide of the grieving mother. Priyadarshini Patil, an Australian woman of Indian descent who was 40 years old, was discovered dead in Karnataka last week. New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has issued a show cause notice for criminal contempt to a litigant who made whimsical and objectionable allegations against a judge of the court, government officials, and the Supreme Court.
The litigant, Naresh Sharma, had sought the death penalty for the single judge for dismissing his pleas.
Sharma's appeals, challenging the single judge's order passed on July 20, were heard by a division bench consisting of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Sanjeev Narula.&nbsp;
In his submissions before the single judge, Sharma alleged that numerous government organisations, including prestigious institutions like IIT, AIIMS, and IIMs, were "criminal" and accused them of sedition.
He contended that there should be a legal option for such organisations to disobey the government and unite against it.
Sharma further argued that his fundamental right under Article 21 of the Constitution of India, which includes the right to have public organisations that are not criminally established, was being violated.
In his appeal, Sharma demanded that the single judge be "criminally charged" for issuing a "meaningless, defamatory, criminal, seditious judgment", and he even asked for the death penalty in his prayer.
The division bench deemed these allegations as "prima facie aimed at scandalising and lowering the authority of the Court" and that they were made with a "malafide intention to interfere with the administration of justice".
The bench then issued a show-cause notice to Sharma, asking him to explain why proceedings for criminal contempt should not be initiated against him under the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971.
Sharma has been directed to file a reply to the show-cause notice by September 18, also the next date of the hearing.&nbsp;

In the mega audition episode, contestants Sonia and Vijay Laxmi gave a spellbinding performance to the songs "Hari Om Hari" and "Gulaabo", which resonated with the audience and prompted Neeti to give them a standing ovation in her distinctive style.

Earlier, talking to IANS, Neeti had shared the points she keeps in mind for judging a contestant.
“When I am listening to somebody, I am absolutely listening to them with an open mind, because they all bring something from where they come from- their roots, training, the kind of music they have heard. So if somebody's voice touches my heart, then they have won me. If you have something that is very 'you' about, your individuality is very important for me. And that makes you unique," she said.
Neeti went on: "If you sound like someone, and you have only heard that one voice, and you just want to sound like that one voice, I think then we have to guide them to listen to more singers, different kinds of music, so that you are able to do more kinds of music. It's important, otherwise you will just have that one style, which might not take you very far in this career."
About her association with the show, the 43-year-old singer had said: "This was the show I watched when I was a little girl, who was just watching and learning. So it is an iconic show and it gives me immense privilege to be on a show like sa re ga ma which inspires millions to make their career in music."
"Last year judging kids was so amazing, the kind of talent we had was very promising. Their future's so bright. We had a blast with Shankar Mahadevan and Anu Malik. Judging seniors is very different, because they bring a lot of expertise and training in their voice, but I think it's amazing to hear new voices. I love it," she added.
