Hubballi (Karnataka) : Chandrashekar Guruji of ‘Saral Vaastu’ fame was stabbed to death in Hubballi on Tuesday. The assassins had come disguised as his devotees to a private hotel in Unakal near Hubballi city.According to the police, the culprits took Guruji’s blessings by touching his feet first when he was at the hotel reception. Catching him unawares, the miscreants then stabbed him repeatedly.Police said that Guruji has been stabbed multiple times on chest and abdomen. After Guruji collapsed in a pool of blood, the assailants escaped from the spot.Preliminary investigations have suggested that persons known to Guruji may have committed the crime.The police have taken Vanajakshi, a former employee of Sarala Vaastu Company run by Guruji, into custody to question her, according to sources.The police have identified the killers as Manjunath Dummavada and Mahantesh Shirur. Manjunath was a former employee. Mahantesh’s wife Vanajakshi — detained for questioning, had worked for Guruji.Hubballi and Dharwad Police Commissioner Labhu Ram has rushed to the spot and monitoring the investigation. He said 5 special teams have been formed to nab the killers and investigation would be conducted by an officer of the rank of ACP.Police said stabbed Guruji more than 50 times. The police are gathering information from the CCTV footages. The motive of the killing is yet to be ascertained.Chandrashekar Guruji was one of the most popular vaastu experts. He had regularly featured on television and was one of the known faces in the state. Further investigation is on.Police sources explained Guruji had bought properties in the name of former employee Vanajakshi. His firm suffered losses due to Covid pandemic. Guruji had asked Vanajakshi to return certain property to him.However, Vanajakshi’s husband did not want to return any property to Guruji.Guruji was pressurising them to return the property to him and killed for the same reason, police sources said.Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Home Minister Araga Jnanendra and Minister for Revenue R. Gadag, Karnataka (The Hawk): In a tragic turn of events, the mother of a nine-year-old kid who was killed by his teacher on Thursday passed away at the KIMS Hospital in Hubballi from the wounds she had received after being attacked by the same teacher.
On December 17, the tragic occurrence occurred at the Government Model Primary School in Hadli Village, Gadag District. Bharat Barakeri, age nine, passed away from his wounds on Monday, but his mother Geetha Barakeri, a teacher at the same school who had been shovel-attacked by the visiting teacher, Muttappa Yallappa Hadagali, passed away on Thursday.
After beating Bharat to death, Hadagali hurled him from the school's first story. Additionally, Geetha, who had sped to save her kid, had been attacked by the accused.
The police have detained Hadagali after setting up a special team to find him after he vanished following the event.
According to early investigations, the accused instructor committed the crime in order to avenge Geetha, according to Gadag SP Shivaprakash Devaraju.
During a tour, Geetha was reportedly friendly with the other faculty members, which infuriated Hadagali who couldn't stand her friendship with others. Devaraju claimed that as a result, the accused teacher first hit the kid before hitting the mother.
Devaraju noted that the precise reason for his nefarious deed has not yet been determined.
During a recent tour with pupils, the accused and Geetha got into an argument. According to insiders, Geetha has kept her distance from him ever since.

Dakshina Kannada: A woman - mother of a 11-month-old baby - used the free bus travel facility to escape from her residence and unite with her lover in Puttur town of the district, sources said on Thursday.
According to police, on learning about her love-affair, the family had restricted her movements, and deprived her of money and mobile phone.
The woman, a resident of Hubballi, had fallen in love with a local boy who worked in Puttur as a labourer. Her family was opposed to the relationship and got her married to another person.
She was sent to her parents' house for delivery. Despite her marriage, she continued her relationship with her lover.
The lover had called her to Puttur to start a new life together. The woman claimed that she did not have a single penny.
However, as soon as the free travel scheme was announced, the woman escaped from her residence leaving behind the infant and joined her lover by traveling in the free government bus on June 13. The parents followed her to Puttur as they knew she would be there. On enquiring, they found that their daughter' lover was also missing from Kadambadi village where he worked.
A complaint has been lodged with Puttur police regarding the matter. During the probe, police have learnt that the eloped mother and her lover are in Siddakatte village. An investigation into the matter is on.

Hubballi: Even as the state government issued a circular directing employees of the state owned transport corporations to behave cordially with woman passengers, an incident of a female conductor slapping an old woman was reported from Hubballi city on Friday.
The incident took place in a bus plying between Kundgol to Hubballi. A 55 second video shows an argument breaking out between the conductor and the old woman. As both argue, the conductor slaps the woman passenger and asks her to sit quiet. But, the old woman strongly objects and slams the conductor for her act. The co-passengers come in support of the old woman.&nbsp;
The photos and video of the incident have gone viral on social media.
The incident has resulted in public outrage against the staff of the state owned transport corporations.
The free travel scheme is being utilized and appreciated by the people all across the state. From June 11 to June 22, 5.98 crore women have availed the services under the Shakti scheme. The women can travel anywhere in the state and up to 20 km into the border villages and towns of neighbouring states. The official statement by the state government has claimed that Rs 139.53 crore is the total value of women passengers who travelled in the state owned buses.

Hubballi (Karnataka): In a shocking case, miscreants killed 23 pigeons due to an old rivalry in Karnataka's Hubballi city, officials said on Monday.  The incident took place on Saturday in a house located in the Yavagal area.
According to police, the accused had cut the necks of pigeons which belonged to Rahul Dandeli.  Dandeli had been rearing the pigeons for the past six months. The miscreants have barged into the premises and committed the crime. They had also destroyed the nests.  He lodged a complaint with the Hubballi Upanagar police station and suspected the act to be the fallout of an old rivalry.  The police have taken up the investigation and were searching for CCTV footage and also gathering inputs on the movement of the people.

Hubballi: After high drama, civic authorities have allowed Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at the controversial Idgah Maidan in Karnataka’s Hubballi district.
Dharwad-Hubballi City Corporation Commissioner, Ishwar Ullagaddi handed over the permission letter late Friday night to allow the three-day festivities.
The opposiiton BJP and Hindutva organisations had staged a protest led by saffron party MLAs Arvind Bellad and Mahesh Tenginakayi.
The protesters resorted to a road blockade condemning the civic body for not handing over the permission letter even after the High Court judgment.
Police Commissioner Uma Sukumaran and additional police force had rush to the spot and cleared the road block after pacifying the protesters.
Earlier on Friday, the Dharwad bench of the Karnataka High Court on Friday quashed a petition opposing the installation of Ganesh idol and celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi in the Idgah Maidan premises.
The petition was submitted by the Anjuman-E-Islam organisation opposing the decision of the Hubballi-Dharwad City Corporation giving permission for celebration of Ganesh festival in the controversial site.
The approval was given in the general body meeting held last month and later the civic body refused to give permission.
The Idgah dispute in Hubballi began in 1971 when the Anjuman-e-Islam tried to construct a shopping complex at the site and erected a building allegedly violating the lease agreement of 1921.
Over the years the dispute took a political turn.
In 1992, under the Congress’, an attempt was made to hoist the Tricolour on the premiese.
However, the then ruling party stopped the action, debating that the flag cannot be hoisted on “disputed” land.
It was feared that the action might lead to communal tension.
In 1994, BJP leader Uma Bharti said that on Independence Day she would hoist the Indian flag on the grounds.
However, fearing communal tension, the Congress government imposed a curfew and stopped her and a few others were arrested after forcefully entering the town.
Six people were killed in the police firing in the incident.

Hubballi: The Karnataka Police have booked a case against Sri Rama Sena founder Pramod Muthalik for hate speech against people of other religions, police said on Friday.
The case had been lodged with the Hubballi Upanagara police station under the IPC Sections 153 (A) for promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race and 295 (A) for deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings.
The complaint in this regard has been lodged by Assistant Commissioner of the City Corporation Chandrashekara Gowda.
Muthalik had delivered the hate speech at the Idgah Maidan during Ganesh idol immersion procession. Earlier, the celebration of Ganesh festival at the Hubballi Idgah Maidan was opposed by the Anjuman-e-Islam, a religious body in the court. However, the court had quashed the petition. The civic body had permitted the Ganesh festival to be celebrated for three days in Idgah Maidan.
Talking to the media, Muthalik had stated those who oppose Ganesh festival are anti-nationals. “The ill-intention of Anjuman organisation has come out in the open. They conspired to partition the country. Hindu community has the capacity to install the Ganesh statue in mosques. Even the prayers could be disrupted. We will approach the court not to permit namaz at Rani Channamma Idgah maidan. This is not Pakistan or personal property,” he had stated.
The Ganesh statue was installed at the Idgah Maidan on September 19 and immersed in waterbody on September 21.

Hubballi, Karnataka: Police have arrested two youths who justified the murder of Neha Hiremath allegedly by Fayaz Khondunaik on their social media handles.
The accused from Dharwad were arrested on Saturday after a few pro-Hindu activists lodged a complaint alleging that the duo had posted contents claiming that Neha and Fayaz were in relationship.  According to the complainants, they allegedly uploaded pictures of the victim Neha and the accused, Fayaz, with a caption, "Neha Fayaz true love, justice for love".
Neha Hiremath (23), daughter of Congress Councillor of Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation Niranjan Hiremath, was allegedly stabbed to death on the campus of BVB College on April 18.  The accused Fayaz, who fled the scene, was arrested by police subsequently.  Neha was a first year MCA student and Fayaz was earlier her classmate.  The incident triggered a public outrage with protests in Hubballi, Dharwad and several other places.  The BJP accused the Congress government of being soft on anti-social elements, which resulted in this incident as the ruling party tried to project it as an incident with a personal angle.

Hubballi (Karnataka): Demanding maximum punishment for his son, the father of 23-year-old Fayaz, who allegedly killed the daughter of a Congress councillor inside a college campus in Hubballi, has apologised to the victim's family and said his son should be given strict punishment.  Baba Saheb Subani, a school teacher and Fayaz's father told media on Saturday that he came to know about the incident around 6 pm on Thursday and was completely shocked and shattered with his son's act.  "He (Fayaz) should be punished in a way that no one dares to do such a thing in future. With folded hands, I apologise to Neha's family members. She was like my daughter," he said with teary eyes.  Subani said that he and his wife have been living separately for the past six years and that Fayaz stayed with his mother and called him whenever he needed money. Fayaz's father recalled that around eight months ago, Neha's family had called him to inform that his son was troubling their daughter.  Admitting that his son made a mistake, he said that Fayaz and Neha loved each other and were in a relationship.  "Fayaz told me he wanted to marry her but I refused it with folded hands," he added.  Condemning his son's act, Fayaz's father said that no one should commit any such atrocities against women.  "I request the people of Karnataka to forgive me. My son has done wrong. He will be punished by the law of the land and I welcome it. My town has got a black mark because of my son. People of Munavalli (Fayaz's hometown) please forgive me. You raised us. Please forgive me," he cried with folded hands.  However, the victim's family has been demanding that the accused be hanged to death and only then will their daughter's soul rest in peace. They maintained that their daughter was not in a relationship with Fayaz and said the accused stabbed Neha because she rejected his proposal.  There were protests in several parts of the state demanding capital punishment for Fayaz, who has been arrested in connection with the incident that occurred on April 18.  The alleged murder of the daughter of the city corporation councillor on her college campus has sparked widespread condemnation and protests.  The issue has snowballed into a political slugfest between the ruling Congress and opposition BJP in Karnataka. While the ruling party has tried to project it as an "incident with a personal angle", the saffron party suspects "love jihad" and said that it points to the "deterioration of law and order" in the state.  Neha was allegedly stabbed to death on the campus of BVB College on Thursday.  The accused Fayaz Khondunaik, who fled the scene, was arrested by police subsequently.  Neha was a first-year MCA student and Fayaz was her former classmate.  According to a senior police officer, Fayaz allegedly stabbed her multiple times. During interrogation, he claimed that the two had been in a relationship but she had been avoiding him of late. "It needs to be corroborated and verified, but he was arrested immediately," the officer said.
