Ghazipur:&nbsp;A father-son duo died as they got electrocuted at a village in the district, police said on Tuesday. According to police, the incident took place on Monday in Madhupur village under the Bhawarkol police station limits, when Satish Narayan Malviya (63), a farmer was, bringing down clothes from a wire. Seeing his father struggling, Ankit Malviya (28) rushed to rescue him. Both of them got seriously injured after being electrocuted, and were taken to the community health centre in Mohammadabad, where doctors declared them dead, police said.—PTI

Ghazipur (Uttar Pradesh): In a shocking incident, a woman poisoned her three daughters, following a spat with her husband.
The incident took place in the Bhanmal Rai village in Suhwal police circle and the woman has been taken into custody. She is being interrogated.
According to the police spokesman, the woman allegedly had a fight with her husband over a domestic issue and after this, she gave poison to her three daughters.
Two daughters died on the spot while the third succumbed during treatment in the hospital.&nbsp;
The police have registered a case for murder against the woman who is now in police custody.
The bodies of the three children have been sent for post-mortem.&nbsp;

Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh (The Hawk): Mukhtar Ansari was found guilty on Thursday and given a ten-year prison term in a 1996 case under the Gangsters Act by the MP/MLA court in Ghazipur.
The court also gave Bhim Singh, one of his assistants, a ten-year sentence.
Additionally, the two were each given a fine of Rs. 5 lakh by the court.
Ansari was found guilty by the court for the first time in this case. It has to do with the 1996 murder of Avadesh Rai, the sibling of Congress zonal president Ajai Rai.
Mukhtar Ansari was the target of Rai's testimony in court.
Ansari has been detained since 2005 but has been found not guilty in the majority of his prior cases.

Ghazipur: The wife of late BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai who was murdered in Ghazipur in 2005 allegedly by gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari and his brother Afzal Ansari on Saturday said that the rule of mafia has ended in Uttar Pradesh and that she has faith in the judiciary.
"I believe in the judiciary. Rule of Goondas, Mafias have ended (in the state)," Alka Rai said, wife of late BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai who was murdered in Ghazipur in 2005. Ghazipur MP-MLA court will today pronounce the verdict in the case, in which gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari and his brother Afzal Ansari are accused.
Security was heightened ahead of the verdict by an MP-MLA court in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur in a kidnapping and murder case against gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, his elder brother and BSP MP Afzal Ansari on Saturday.
Earlier in January this year, the police registered a murder case against Mukhtar Ansari in connection to the 2001 'Usri Chatti' gang war incident.
A case under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against Ansari at PS Mohammadabad in Ghazipur.
Earlier on January 18, Allahabad High Court dismissed the March 15 order of the Ghazipur MP/MLA Court, which allowed Ansari to be kept in a superior-class jail in Banda.
While giving the order, the court had said the order of the special court is without jurisdiction, and gangster, dreaded criminal Bahubali Ansari is not legally entitled to get a superior class in jail.
Earlier on December 15 last year, Ansari and his aide Bhim Singh were sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the Gangster Court in Ghazipur in five cases related to murder and attempt to murder. The cases include the murder of constable Raghuvansh Singh and a murderous assault on an additional SP of Ghazipur among others.
On September 21, the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court convicted Mukhtar Ansari and sentenced him for threatening jailer SK Awasthi and pointing a pistol at him. The case dates to 2003 when Lucknow district prison jailer SK Awasthi lodged an FIR saying that he was threatened to order a search of the people who came to meet Ansari in prison.
On September 23, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court sentenced him to five years in a case registered in 1999 under the Gangster Act. The court had also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on Mukhtar in this 23-year-old case.&nbsp;

New Delhi: Delhi Police have tightened security measures along the city's borders, including Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur, in the wake of a nationwide demonstration call by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) in support of the country's top grapplers protesting against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
"Additional police personnel have been deployed, and extra checkpoints were set up to prevent any undesirable occurrences," a senior police official said on Thursday.
"Security has been heightened, and we have increased the presence of police personnel while setting up additional checkpoints at Delhi's borders. Our objective is to ensure the maintenance of law and order and prevent any untoward incidents," said another officer. The officer also mentioned that vehicles entering Delhi from neighbouring states are being subjected to thorough inspections at the borders. On Tuesday, the SKM had announced demonstrations and effigy burning of the WFI chief at villages and town centres on June 5, the day RSS workers and Mahants have called a rally in support of Brij Bhushan in Ayodhya.
The SKM also condemned the brutal repression of wrestlers protest on May 28, the day women wrestlers had called mahila mahapanchayat. "Modi Government's action against the wrestlers protesting against sexual harassment proves it's anti-woman and anti-people agenda. The crackdown against the protest infringes the citizens right to protest which has been repeatedly upheld by the Supreme Court," it said.
The SKM also demanded withdrawal of FIR against protestors and arrest of Brij Bhushan.

New Delhi: A fire that broke out at the Ghazipur landfill was doused on Tuesday after 21 hours, a Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official said. The official said that a call was received at around 1.30 p.m. regarding the blaze. "A total of 19 fire tenders were rushed to the spot along with a robotic machine to control and douse the fire," said the official. "The flames were finally doused at around 10.30 a.m. on Tuesday," he said. In March last year, a huge cloud of smoke enveloped the region and neighbouring areas after a massive fire broke out at the dumping yard. —IANS

Ghazipur: Shops remained closed on Friday in Mohammadabad Yusufpur township in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh, the native place of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari who died of a cardiac arrest a day before.
Ansari's body will be brought to his native place for the last rites during the day.  A large number of security personnel have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order.
People were seen waiting for the arrival of body of the five-time MLA, who was rushed to a hospital from the Banda jail on Thursday after his health condition deteriorated. Ansari died at the hospital during treatment.  A grave has been dug at the Ansari family's burial ground in Kali Bagh for the last rites, Circle Officer (CO) Atar Singh and Pawan Kumar Upadhyaya, an inspector attached to the Mohammadabad police station, said.  They said Ansari's family members have informed them that the last rites will be performed on Friday if the body reaches here by 10 pm. Otherwise, the last rites would be performed on Saturday morning.  Ansari's post-mortem is being conducted in Banda, which is about 400 km from here. The convoy carrying his body would pass through Fatehpur, Kaushambi, Prayagraj and Varanasi districts, before arriving in Ghazipur.  Ansari's lawyer Naseem Haider said the body is likely to reach Ghazipur late at night.  Ansari's son Umar wrote a letter to the Banda district magistrate, alleging that his father was killed in a planned manner and demanding that the post-mortem be performed at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.  "We have no faith of getting justice from the administration and doctors' team of Banda," Umar Ansari wrote in the letter.  Ansari's political rivals have, however, reacted sharply to his death, saying "as you sow, so shall you reap" and that justice has been delivered.  People started gathering at Ansari's residence in Mohammadabad Yusufpur since the morning.  Gulab Ram, the former Ghazipur unit chief of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), told PTI Videos that "people are heartbroken".  "Shops are closed. He (Ansari) used to be with people in their happiness and sorrow," Ram said.  The councillor of ward number 25, Lohatia Sanjeev Kumar Gihar, told reporters that "the market is closed not because of anyone's advice but due to our sympathies with the Ansari family".  Anand Rai, the nephew of Mohammadabad's former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Krishnanand Rai, who was killed in 2005, told reporters that "der hai andher nahin (this is god's justice)".  In 2005, Ansari and his family members were named as accused in the killing of Krishnanand Rai.  Security personnel have been put on alert in Mau, an official said, adding that prohibitory orders under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) have been issued in Mau, Ghazipur, Ballia and the surrounding areas.  According to the news received from Bhadohi, security arrangements have been tightened along the national highway as Ansari's body will be taken through this route.  Circle officer (CO), Traffic Bhuvaneshwar Prasad Pandey said the convoy carrying the body will pass through densely-populated areas along the highway and security personnel in large numbers have been deployed to prevent any kind of disturbance.  The administration is in full alert in Ballia, the district adjacent to Ghazipur.  District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar said all administrative officers have been instructed to remain alert.  Additional Superintendent of Police Durga Prasad Tiwari said all police officers have been asked to take rounds of the area.  Meanwhile in Badaun, Shivpal Singh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party's (SP) nominee from the Badaun seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, said the court should take cognisance of Ansari's death in "suspicious" circumstances.  Yadav said he has good relations with Ansari's family.  Ansari's family had fought for the country's freedom, the SP leader said, adding that the court should take suo-motu cognisance of his death.

Banda (Uttar Pradesh): After the completion of postmortem, gangster-politician Mukhtar Ansari's body on Friday left for his native place in Ghazipur amidst heavy security from here, police officials said.
The ambulance carrying the body was accompanied by police vehicles to ensure security along the 400-kilometre-long route via several districts of Uttar Pradesh.
