Divorce is one of the biggest epidemics in our current society that isn't being recognized or treated as such. As a marriage and family therapist, of course, divorce is something that I am passionate about because it is something that I am spending my life fighting against. I am not ignorant enough to believe that I will see all cases of divorce end during my lifetime, nor am I ignorant enough to believe that all divorce cases even should be prevented. I am, however, perhaps ignorant in my belief that it is crazy for people considering divorce to get advice from a divorce attorney.
Now, most of you are thinking I'm crazy. Who would go to a divorce attorney for advice about their failing marriage? Many people, unfortunately. I had no idea until I began working with marriages and families in crisis just how many individuals and even couples were seeking refuge and advice from their divorce lawyer.
I was overwhelmed by my new knowledge for one primary reason. Have people who considered getting a divorce forgotten that a divorce attorney is a very last person who will be concerned with them repairing a broken marriage? A divorce attorney makes a living helping married people get divorced while getting as many benefits from the divorce as possible. So why would any nearly-divorced person go to a divorce attorney in hopes of fixing their marriage? beats me.
My advice to anyone struggling in their marriage is to make an appointment to visit a professional counsellor or a marriage and family, therapist. The core reason why I suggest this is because in general, counsellors and therapists are people who deeply want to see marriages and families restored rather than torn apart. If I am looking for someone to help me fix my car, then it is far wiser to get help from an individual who believes that cars can be fixed, right? Of course, the same is true with marriage. Do not seek help from someone who believes that marriages should end easily and for any reason at all. Go instead to a professional who is trained in giving you wisdom about making your relationship work.
A divorce lawyer is great for people who are sure that divorce is the option they are choosing. If you are still unsure of your options and are still hoping for healing in your marriage, then a divorce attorney is the last person you should see.
Concept of Divorce and Manu Smarti -
In Ancient times, the concept of divorce was not known to anyone. They considered marriage as a sacred concept. According to Manu, the husband and wife cannot be separated from each other; their marital tie cannot be broken. Later the concept of divorce came into the picture and was established as a custom to put the marriage to an end. According to the Arthashastra, marriage can end if dissolved by mutual consent and should be unapproved marriage. But Manu does not believe in the concept of dissolution. According to Manu the only way to end the marriage is the death of one of the spouses.
The provision related to the concept of divorce was introduced by the Hindu Marriage Act, of 1955. The Hindu Marriage Act defines divorce as the dissolution of the marriage. For the interest of society, the marriage or the marital relationship needs to be surrounded by every safeguard for the cause specified by law. Divorce is permitted only for a grave reason otherwise given other alternatives.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Tel Aviv: An epidemic that has killed all the black sea urchins in the Gulf of Eilat and other parts of the Middle East threatens to destroy coral reefs in those regions, a study released on Wednesday found. "This situation is unprecedented in the entire documented history of the Gulf of Eilat," said a team of researchers from Tel Aviv University. The researchers noted that extensive mortality is also occurring in other countries in the region, including Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Greece and Turkey. The TAU findings were recently published in Frontiers in Marine Science and Royal Society Open Science, both peer-reviewed. Coral reefs act as nurseries and habitats for countless marine species, providing shelter, food, and protection from predators. They also serve as a natural barrier, reducing coastal erosion and buffering against storm damage. Coral reefs also trap carbon that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere, helping mitigate the impact of climate change. Rising sea temperatures, pollution, overfishing, and human activities pose significant challenges to the survival of the reefs Now, an epidemic killing off sea urchins is also raising a dire threat. The source of the pandemic is thought to be a pathogenic ciliate parasite that eradicated the entire sea urchin population in the Caribbean in the 1980s, damaging the coral reefs there irreversibly, the researchers wrote. The current epidemic was first discovered in the Mediterranean but quickly reached the Red Sea, where it is spreading at an unprecedented rate.  Within a few months, the epidemic killed all the black sea urchins in the Gulf of Eilat; they died within two days of falling ill. Sea urchins are considered essential for the healthy functioning of coral reefs, the study says. "At first we thought it was some kind of pollution or poisoning or a local chemical spill from the industry and hotels in the north of the Gulf of Eilat, but when we examined additional sites in Eilat, Jordan and Sinai, we quickly realized that this was not a local incident," said Omri Bronstein of Tel Aviv University, who led the study. "All findings pointed to a rapidly spreading epidemic," he said. He noted that similar reports are coming in from colleagues in Saudi Arabia. "Even sea urchins that we grow for research purposes in our aquariums at the Interuniversity Institute [for Marine Sciences in Eilat], and sea urchins at the Underwater Observatory Marine Park in Eilat, contracted the disease and died, probably because the pathogen got in through the pumping systems," Bronstein said. Within two days of contracting the parasite, a healthy sea urchin becomes a skeleton with massive tissue loss. While some corpses are washed ashore, most sea urchins are devoured while they are dying and unable to defend themselves, which could speed up contagion spread by the fish who prey on them. "As with COVID-19, at this point, no one knows what will happen--will this epidemic disappear by itself, or will it stay with us for many years and cause a dramatic change in coral reefs?" Bronstein said. An urgent report describing the situation was submitted to the Israel Nature and Parks Authority, and emergency steps for saving the coral reef are being considered. —ANI

Stockholm: Researchers found that the Covid epidemic shutdowns in South Asia significantly lowered the number of short-lived cooling particles in the air while having no effect on the concentration of long-lived greenhouse gases. Researchers were, therefore, able to show how lower air pollution emissions lead to cleaner air but also to faster global warming. The study was published in the journal, 'npj Climate and Atmospheric Science'. It is well known that emissions of sulfur and nitrogen oxides and other air pollutants lead to the formation of aerosols (particles) in the air that can offset or mask, the full climate warming caused by greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane. But there has been a lack of knowledge about this 'masking effect'. In order to determine the size, large-scale experiments involving huge regions would be required - this is infeasible. The Covid pandemic became such a 'natural' experiment. In the spring of 2020, the activity of many industries and transportation worldwide decreased due to pandemic restrictions. This created a unique opportunity to study what happens to the climate if emissions of gases and aerosols are rapidly reduced. Measuring station in the northernmost Maldives At Hanimaadhoo, a measuring station in the northernmost Maldives off the coast of India, researchers have been measuring the atmospheric composition and radiation for soon two decades. (Measurements reveal the impact of air pollution on climate and health in southern Asia) The measuring station is strategically placed to capture air masses from the Asian subcontinent and is located in an area with few regional emission sources. When emissions suddenly decreased during the pandemic in South Asia (mainly Pakistan, India and Bangladesh), an opportunity was created to see what impact this had on the climate. Short-lived air particles decreased but not greenhouse gases A new article in the scientific journal NPJ Climate and Atmospheric Science shows that the concentrations of polluting short-lived air particles decreased significantly, while the concentrations of longer-lived greenhouse gases were barely affected in the air mass over South Asia. The cooling effect of the aerosols comes from the fact that they reflect incoming solar radiation back into space. With a lower aerosol content, there is less cooling and thus less 'masking' of the warming effect of the significantly longer-lived climate gases. Measurements taken at the same time over the northern Indian Ocean revealed a seven per cent increase in solar radiation reaching the Earth's surface, thus increasing temperatures. "Through this large-scale geophysical experiment, we were able to demonstrate that while the sky became bluer and the air cleaner, climate warming increased when these cooling air particles were removed," said Professor Orjan Gustafsson at Stockholm University, who is responsible for the measurements in the Maldives and who led the study. The results show that a complete phasing out of fossil fuel combustion in favor of renewable energy sources with zero emissions could result in rapid 'unmasking' of aerosols, while greenhouse gases linger. "During a couple of decades, emission reductions risk leading to net climate warming due to the 'masking' effect of air particles, before the temperature reduction from reduced greenhouse gas emissions takes over. But despite an initial climate warming effect, we obviously still urgently need a powerful emission reduction," said Orjan Gustafsson. —ANI

Chandigarh: The Leader of Opposition in Punjab, Partap Singh Bajwa, on Monday condemned the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab for its sheer inability to rein in the rapidly growing drug abuse in the state.
“Under the 18-month regime of AAP, Punjab has been on the verge of becoming a drug capital of the country,” Bajwa said in a statement here.
Citing a viral video of two youngsters — a man and a woman — injecting drugs at Bathinda’s Santpura Road, Bajwa said many such videos have gone viral ever since AAP got hold of power. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has yet to get his act together to curb the drug menace.
“The CM always remains busy in one or the other showbiz and keeps squandering the Punjab’s taxpayers’ money. The youngsters have been on the edge of a slippery slope because of drug abuse. How would such events like a tourism summit rescue the future of Punjab from plunging into an abyss,” Bajwa asked.
He said in one of the most shocking incidents an anti-drug activist from Bathinda was brutally murdered by drug peddlers. Earlier this year, a Jalandhar-based whistleblower against drug peddling was killed. There have also been some incidents of Punjab Police allegedly harassing those who have been fighting against the drug trade.
“The ineffectiveness of the AAP government can be gauged from the fact that it cannot even protect the anti-drug activists who have been struggling on their own for the youth of Punjab,” Bajwa added.&nbsp;

Punjab fails to rein in drug abuse: Congress leader Bajwa

Patna: A team of World Health Organisation (WHO) on Wednesday visited Gaya city in Bihar to check about the mysterious disease in the area.  More than 300 people of Patwa Toli village in Gaya have fallen sick in the last few weeks while doctors have failed to detect the nature of disease.  The people have claimed that the patients are suffering from fever and joint-pain, which remains for a long time. The locals have named the disease as “Langda fever” as the patients do recover from fever but are not able to walk properly due to the pain in joints.  A medical team under Dr Ranjan Kumar Singh has also been formed to keep an eye on the disease however they have failed to come up with any medication so far.  The WHO team is trying to find out the virus of the disease which mixes with the blood of the patients.  The doctors in the area have said that the symptom of the disease is similar to dengue and chikungunya and the blood samples of the patients have been taken and sent to the laboratory in Patna for CBC test.  “After the test, the nature of disease will be ascertained,” the doctors have said.
