New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday said the Right to Education Act is a classic example where a right was created, but questioned where were the schools?Against the backdrop of this Act, the top court observed that the government should always bear in mind the financial impact, before developing any scheme.A bench, headed by Justice U.U. Lalit and comprising Justices S.R. Bhat and P.S. Narasimha, told Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati, representing the Centre: "You have created a right. Where are the schools?"It further added that various authorities, including municipalities, state governments etc., were tasked to set up schools, but where do they get teachers from? Often, budget constraints are cited, it said.The bench also emphasised that the scenario needs to be examined in totality, otherwise it becomes mere lip service. It suggested that the government should always evaluate the financial impact before it comes up with schemes or ideas.The top court was hearing a plea seeking adequate infrastructure to provide effective legal aid to women abused in matrimonial homes and also to create shelter homes for them, across the country. Bhati said substantial progress has been made and there were a lot of parleys and consultations with all states, and added that the Central government needs to keep all states in the loop.The bench noted that revenue officers, in some states, are working as protection officers in terms of the Act. Bhati sought some time to place the details in the matter, as per court's earlier direction.Emphasising on evaluating financial impact, the bench said: "We don't want multiplicity of grievances... states' resources may not match up to what you require."On the aspect of the petition, the bench said statistical analysis would be required to assess the requirement in a particular state, in connection with shelter homes. Bhati said a status report could be filed giving all the details. The bench gave two weeks to the Centre to bring on record necessary details in the matter and scheduled it for further hearing on April 26.The plea filed by "We The Women of India" had contended that domestic violence continues to be the most common crime against women, despite the Domestic Violence Act, 2005. The plea added that as per National Crime Records Bureau report for the year 2019, out of 4.05 lakh reported cases categorised under acrimes against women, and over 30 per cent were domestic violence cases. —IANS

New Delhi (The Hawk): The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009 provides for access to elementary schools for children of the age group of 6-14 years, within the defined area or limits of neighbourhood. Section 12 (1)(c) of the RTE Act, 2009 provides for admission of children belonging to disadvantaged groups (DG) and economically weaker sections (EWS) in private unaided schools to the extent of at least 25 percent of the strength of class I or below.The Department of School Education and Literacy had launched an Integrated Scheme for School Education - Samagra Shiksha with effect from 2018-19. The scheme envisages school education as a continuum from pre-school to senior secondary level and aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all. Under the scheme, financial assistance is provided to States and UTs for undertaking various activities to reduce number of out of school children including opening/strengthening of new schools upto senior secondary level, construction of school buildings &amp; additional classrooms, setting up, up-gradation and running of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV), setting up of residential schools/hostels, free uniforms, free text books and undertaking enrolment &amp; retention drives. Further, special training for age appropriate admission of out of school and residential as well as non-residential training for older children, seasonal hostels / residential camps, special training centres at worksites, transport/ escort facility are also supported to bring out of school children to the formal schooling system. Also, mid-day meal is provided to students at the elementary level of education. Further, under the student oriented component for the children with special needs, financial assistance is provided for identification and assessment of children with special needs, aids and appliances, braille kits and books, appropriate teaching learning material and stipend to girl students with disability etc.In addition, a Central Sector Scheme ‘National Means-cum-Merit ScholarshipScheme (NMMSS)’ was launched in May, 2008 with the objective to award scholarshipsto meritorious students of economically weaker sections to arrest their drop out at classVIII and encourage them to continue their studies at secondary stage. Under NMMSS, scholarship @ Rs. 12,000/- per annum is given to students belonging to economically weaker sections of the society for study in class IX to XII in&nbsp;a State Government, Government-aided and Local Body schools.The information was given by the Minister of State for Education, Smt. New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday questioned former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah in connection with a Prevention of Money Laundering case pertaining to alleged irregularities in sanctioning loans by Jammu and Kashmir Bank. The ED case is on the basis of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)'s case in which the probe agency accused Mushtaq Ahmad Shaikh, the former chairman of J&amp;amp;K bank and others of wrong doings.It was alleged that in 2010 the management of J&amp;amp;K Bank bought a property in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla from Akruti Gold Builders allegedly at an exorbitant price of Rs 180 crore. The CBI had said that it was a well-planned conspiracy by the accused. On the basis of this, the CBI in 2021 filed a case against the management of the bank and its chairman.—IANS

Until the investigation is done, she should not be let out," she said. "If any links are found with terror outfit Al-Qaeda, Muskan should be sent to Pakistan," she said. Meanwhile, Minister for Health K. Sudhakar on Thursday commenting on the video by Al Qaeda terrorist Zawahiri said Muskan is an innocent. "What can you expect from terrorists," he stated. "I don't know why Muskan reacted that way. Everyone should follow the law of the land. Education must be a priority over religion," he stated.Al Qaeda global terrorist Zawahari in his 9 minute video praised Muskan Khan, a Karnataka College student from Mandya district for raising Islamic slogans in the college premises at the height of the hijab crisis in the state.In the video titled 'The Noble Woman of India', Zawahari has composed and recited a poem in praise of the Karnataka student. He maintained in the video that he came to know about Muskan Khan through social media videos and was 'moved by the act of a sister'. Zawahiri has slammed the countries for banning hijab.Reacting to the video and praising Muskan, the father of the girl, Mohammad Hussain maintained that his daughter was more interested in studies.Hussain stated that he and his family, especially daughter, do not want any unwanted attention. "It has become a big headache for us. We do not know him. I saw Zawahiri for the first time. We are happy here and living like brothers in Mandya district of Karnataka, we do not want anything," he explains.He further said that they are putting them into trouble and they should not do this. It only creates confusion here. "It is wrong to drag Muskan. I request them, do not drag the matter any further," he said.Hussain maintained that since the college authorities have not given a chance for Muskan to wear a veil and write exams, she would be admitted to a different college in Mysuru where she will continue her studies, he added. —IANS

The device is associated to providing oral health education to visually impaired kids in different languages on tactile sensing.The team consists of Prof Naveen Aggarwal, Prof Manoj Kumar Sharma, Parminder Singh from UIET, PU and Dr Manoj Kumar Jaiswal, Prof Ashima Goyal of PGIMER, Chandigarh. Educating visually impaired children about oral healthcare can be a difficult task for pediatric dentists since they cannot visualize different dental diseases. To overcome this challenge and providing the visually impaired children equal opportunity of oral healthcare, the team envisaged this device.The invention relates to an apparatus and a system for providing oral healthcare education to visually impaired persons. The apparatus comprises a dental model having diseased and healthy teeth, inflamed and healthy gingival tissues; a sensor associated with the teeth and the gingival tissues of the dental model; and a control unit in communication with the sensor. The control unit comprises a memory to store educational information related to the dental model. When a visually impaired person touches the dental model, the sensor sends a signal to the control unit which retrieves relevant information from the memory and sends to an output unit for the announcement. Thus, a visually impaired person gets oral healthcare education by touching and listening to different healthy and diseased teeth and gingival tissues of the dental modelThe team is looking forward to use of this device for training of visually impaired children, which is being developed with support from Design Innovation Centre (DIC), UIET, Panjab University. Chennai: The Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd and Larsen &amp; Toubro Ltd (L&amp;T) consortium has turned out to the lowest price bidder for making five Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) XL variant rocket out of the three who had bid, said a space sector official.With this, the transfer of PSLV-XL production outside of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) moves a step forward."The Hindustan Aeronautics and L&amp;T consortium has turned out to be the lowest bidder to make five PSLV-XL rockets. Now other agreements have to be signed between NewSpace India Ltd (NSIL) and the winning consortium before awarding the contract," an official, preferring anonymity, told IANS.According to the official, the remaining activities are expected to be completed in a couple of months' time, if everything goes smoothly."The first PSLV-XL rocket is expected to be realised in 24 months from the date of award of the contract. Subsequently one rocket every six months has to be delivered to NSIL," the official added.The first rocket is expected to be realised sometime during the second half of 2024 and the balance four rockets will be delivered during 2025 and 2026 at two rockets per year.This is the first time in the ISRO's history that an entire rocket, including the heatshield, is to be made outside of the space agency.However, the official declined to comment whether the successful bid amount was around Rs 825 crore (about Rs 165 crore per rocket) excluding taxes. According to a NSIL official, the selected industry player can use ISRO facilities for a fee, and it is the industry's responsibility to deliver the rocket.It will be interesting to see the net cost of the rocket for NSIL.ISRO officials used to say the PSLV-XL version would cost about Rs 190 crore and for five, it will be about Rs 950 crore.The other two bids for the project were made by Bharat Heavy Electrical Ltd (BHEL) and Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL)-Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL) and Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML) consortium.The PSLV-XL rocket, weighing about 320 ton, is a four stage rocket with each stage powered by solid and liquid fuel, alternatively.According to the space sector official, the Hindustan Aeronautics-L&amp;T combine will deliver all the stages, including the heat shield, at ISRO's rocket port in Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. The rocket's first stage will be assembled at the launch pad in Sriharikota.The stacking of the rocket stages and the satellite will be done by ISRO.The NSIL will market the rockets for commercial flights. The rockets will also be used for national space missions.According to a NSIL official, the company will deal with Hindustan Aeronautics, the leader of the consortium, and it is not known how the two companies are structuring their set up for the project.Though the two companies are supplying components for ISRO, it is not known as to the quantum of their supplies to make a PSLV-XL rocket. The official also said after seeing the working of the model, the company may decide on transferring the entire PSLV production to industry players.Then there will be another tender for the same as the dynamics would differ, NSIL official said.The NSIL will also issue an Expression of Interest (EOI) for making the ISRO's small rocket - Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV)-- which is under development.The selection process for SSLV will be simpler as NSIL has the experience in choosing the industry partner for making the PSLV rocket.Further the SSLV is of simpler technology - it is powered by solid fuel motors.Following that will be the EOI for making ISRO's heavier rocket Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mk III (GSLV-MkIII), the official added.Meanwhile NSIL has issued an 'Interest Explanatory Note' to transfer ISRO's technology for making the small satellite - India Mini Satellite-1 (IMS-1) Bus.It is learnt the company has received about 10-15 responses for the same.ISRO's UR Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) has developed a small satellite platform which would enable low cost access to space by providing a dedicated platform for payloads for earth imaging, ocean and atmospheric studies, microwave remote sensing and space science missions with a quick turnaround time.The satellite will have a payload mass of 30kg and a life space of two years.The NSIL has the mandate of building, and launching rockets and satellites through industry partners and also providing space-based services through remote sensing and communication satellites. Last year, the company issued the Request for Proposal (RFP) from industries for making five PSLV rockets. —IANS

The three queens to King Dashratha, Kaushalya, Sumitra and Kaikeyi were unable to bear an heir to the kingdom of Ayodhya for a long period of time. The sacred ritual called Putra Kamesti Yagna was thus performed by the queens, as suggested by the great Sage Vashishth. The ceremony saw King Dashratha distribute payasam (a preparation of milk and rice) to his three wives. And, then on the ninth day of the Hindu month, Chitra, queen Kaushalya gave birth to Lord Ram, and the other queens gave birth to Lakshmana and Bharat. It is believed that all the evils in the life of a person who worships Ramnavami are eradicated. That is why Ram Navami has special significance in the Hindu religion, on this day people go to the temple and offer prayers and pray for Prosperous. On this day many people offer&nbsp;Ramcharitmanas&nbsp;in their homes. Taking bath in holy rivers on this day gives great benefits. Scindia and the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Shri Pema Khandu today flagged off the first flight of Made in India HAL Dornier Do-228 in a bid to connect airports and Advanced Landing Grounds (ALGs) of Northeast India. The flight will be operational from Dibrugarh in Assam to Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh and finally to Lilabari in Assam.The event was graced by Shri Kiran Rijiju, Union Minister of Law &amp; Justice, Shri Naresh Kumar, Chief Secretary, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Nakop Nalo, Minister (Civil Aviation), Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Goruk Pordung, Health Minister, Government of Arunachal Pradesh,&nbsp;Shri Tapir Gao, Member of Parliament, Arunachal East, Shri Rajiv Bansal, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Shri Swapnil M Nair, Secretary (Civil Aviation), Government of Arunachal Pradesh,Air, Shri R Madhavan, CMD, HAL, Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Chairman, AAI, Smt Usha Padhee, Joint Secretary and Shri Amber Dubey, Joint Secretary from Ministry of Civil Aviation, Shri Vikram Dev Dutt, CMD, Alliance Air, and other dignities from State Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Alliance Air, HAL, Indian Airforce and Airport Authority of India.Alliance Air, a public sector airline company, had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), a Central Public Sector Unit under Ministry of Defence to operate Indian made Dornier aircraft, which is called Hindustan aircraft. This initiative is in line with the vision of Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi “AtmaNirbhar Bharat”. With this, Alliance Air becomes the first commercial airline to fly Indian made aircraft for civil operations.The deployment of Indian made Do-228 will be done in a phased manner. In the first phase, 2 Hindustan aircrafts would be stationed at Dibrugarh, to connect Tezu, Pasighat and Ziro. In the second phase of the program, connectivity to Mechuka, Tuting and Vijoy Nagar has been planned. In the coming 15 days, the airline will connect Tezu and after that, within 30 days, air connectivity to Ziro would commence.Speaking on the occasion, Shri Scindia said, “In the last 70 years, 74 airports were developed but in last 7 years under the visionary leadership of our Prime Minister Narendra Modiji, we have created 66 new airports taking the total to 140 airports operational in the country. In Northeast, 9 airports were operationalized but today 15 airports are established in the last 7 years.”Talking about the civil aviation development plans for Northeast, the Minister elaborated “In Arunachal Pradesh, within 6 months, a new greenfield airport in Hollongi will be inaugurated with a budgetary allocation of Rs. 645.63 Crore. At Tezu, 67 crores has been allotted for the upgradation of airport and work is in progress. A dedicated budgetary support of Rs. 500 Crore has been approved by the Ministry for enhancing air connectivity and aviation infrastructure in NER till March, 2024. Out of these Rs. 500 Crore, about Rs. 227 Crore is earmarked for development of ALGs and air connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh, making it 50% of the total budget. At Imphal, the airport would be getting a major up-gradation with a budgetary allocation of Rs. 499 Crore where a new Integrated Terminal Building and other associated work would be taken up. A new Integrated Terminal Building at Agartala airport with a budgetary support of Rs. 438.28 Crore has just been completed. Another Rs.120 Crore would be spent on development of runway, taxiway and apron at Agartala airport. At Dibrugarh in Assam, re-carpeting of airport runway has started with Rs. 55.54 Crore allotted. With all these developments in the airport infrastructure, the air connectivity in NER is going to get a fillip. In addition to this, about 18 airstrips, heliports/ helipads, water aerodromes are also awarded under UDAN scheme and are being developed in NER with the budgetary allocation of about Rs. 182 Crore. In total, more than Rs 2,000 crore will be invested in North East to upgrade and create civil aviation infrastructure by Government of India”Talking about UDAN scheme, Minister stated “415 routes have been operationalized under the UDAN scheme and over 91 lakh people have benefitted from it. Over 1 lakh 75 thousand flights are flown under this scheme.”On reduction of VAT on ATF (Aviation Turbine Fuel), the Minister said that “State Government of Arunachal Pradesh has also reduced the VAT on ATF (Aviation Turbine Fuel) from 20% to 1% after a virtual meeting with Chief Minister Shri Pema Khandu.”Development of North Eastern Region (NER) is not only of strategic importance, but, also is a part of India’s growth story. Connectivity in NER is very essential and in many places air transport is the lifeline for movement of people and the cargo. Considering the hilly terrain, helicopter operations under UDAN scheme have been given focus for connectivity. The Government has over the past few years further enhanced the National Corridor Network to 11 integrated industrial and economic corridors with 32 Projects to be developed in four phases, thus enabling connectivity to all key economic nodes in the country.He was further apprised that the National Industrial Corridor projects are getting developed on the overall framework of PM GatiShakti - National Master Plan to provide a systematic, multi modal connectivity to various economic zones for a seamless movement of people, goods and services resulting in efficient conduct of logistics and economic activities.He was informed that world class ‘Plug n Play’ infrastructure at plot level has been developed in the 4 cities of Dholera (Gujarat), Shendra Bidkin (Maharashtra), Vikram Udyogpuri (M.P.), Integrated Industrial Township (Greater Noida, U.P.) where land allotment is currently underway.A total of 173 Plots (851 Acre) have been allotted in these 4 cities attracting investments from companies of South Korea, Russia, China, UK, Japan as well as from India including MSME`s with an investment mobilization to the tune of approximately Rs. 16,760 Cr. generating approx. 21,000 employment opportunities.With the availability of additional developed land of approx. 5000 Acre, the Minister directed the officials to expedite the land allotment to industrial, commercial and residential sectors in these developed cities through rigorous marketing activities including road shows and attractive and conducive land allotment policies.The Minister further directed that regular interactions be made with the plot allottees so as to handhold them in resolving issues that they must be facing in starting the construction of their factories or commercial production. He further directed to expedite activities with respect to other projects where land can be made available to industries.The Minister instructed that in order to bring complete transparency in the land allotment system, e-land management system (e-LMS) should be implemented across all the projects and continuous monitoring should be done through an integrated dashboard.The Minister expressed that “the National Industrial Corridor Program is a pan India initiative and development of plug and play infrastructure will boost manufacturing ecosystem in the country and shall have a domino effect on the development of the Nation as a whole and has full potential of realizing the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister for AtmaNirbhar Bharat”. “NICDC should work in close coordination with the respective state governments to expedite the project development activities for developing a world-class manufacturing and investment infrastructure to boost competitiveness and job creation.” the Minister added.

Allahabad: A plea by two women to recognise their “marriage” on the argument that such union was not “opposed” by the Hindu Marriage Act has been rejected by the Allahabad High Court.Opposing their plea, the Uttar Pradesh government’s counsel opined that same-sex marriage was against Indian culture and Indic religions, and was invalid under Indian laws.A Habeas Corpus plea was filed by Anju Devi seeking the custody of her 23-year-old daughter who, she alleged, was illegally detained by a 22-year-old woman.On April 6, the court directed the state government counsel to ensure the presence of both the women during the hearing the next day.The two women presented themselves in the court of Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav on April 7. They told the court that they got “married” to each other and pleaded that the union be recognised.The women contended that the Hindu Marriage Act talks about the marriage of two people and homosexual marriage has not been opposed by the legislation.However, the state government counsel said, “In Hindu culture, marriage is one of the ‘sanskar’ and can be performed between a man and a woman.“Our country runs according to the Indian culture, religions, and Indian law. In India, marriage is considered a sacred ‘sanskar’, whereas in other countries, marriage is a contract,” the counsel said. The court rejected the women’s request and also disposed of the mother’s habeas corpus plea.The Union government has opposed same-sex marriage on the ground that marriage in India is not just a union of two individuals but an institution between biological man and woman.It also said that judicial interference will cause “complete havoc with the delicate balance of personal laws”.—PTI

As per the provisional statistics of the Indian Bureau of Mines, the cumulative growth for the period April- February, 2021-22 over the corresponding period of&nbsp;the previous year has increased 13.2 per cent.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Production level of important minerals in February, 2022 were: Coal 795 lakh tonnes, Lignite 47 lakh tonnes, Natural gas (utilized) 2515 million cu. m., Petroleum (crude) 23 lakh tonnes, Bauxite 2120 thousand tonnes, Chromite 373 thousand tonnes, Copper conc. 9 thousand tonnes , Gold 125 kg, Iron ore 227 lakh tonnes, Lead conc. 29 thousand tonnes, Manganese ore 293 thousand tonnes, Zinc conc. 143 thousand tonnes, Limestone 333 lakh tonnes, Phosphorite 108 thousand tonnes, Magnesite 10 thousand tonnes and Diamond 48 carat.&nbsp;The production of important minerals showing positive growth during February, 2022 over February, 2021 include: Diamond (43.4%), Lignite (24.7%), Natural Gas (U) (12.5%), Phosphorite (9.9%), Zinc conc 8.7%), Bauxite (8.3%), Coal (6.6%), Iron Ore (5.9%) and Magnesite (0.6%). The production of other important minerals showing negative growth include: Limestone (-0.5%), Gold (-2.1%), Petroleum (crude) (-2.2%), Lead conc (-14.0%), Manganese ore (-17.3%), Copper conc (-19.8%) and Chromite (-33.1%).

New Delhi / Haridwar: No specific words against any community were uttered during an event held in New Delhi in December last year, the Delhi police has told the Supreme Court which is hearing a plea seeking direction to ensure investigation and action against those who allegedly made hate speeches during two events held in Haridwar and Delhi.<img src="https://im.rediff.com/news/2022/apr/04yati.jpg?w=670&amp;h=900">In a counter-affidavit filed in the apex court, the Delhi police has said the petitioners had not approached them for taking any action in connection with the alleged incident and have directly moved the top court and such a practice must be deprecated.The top court is hearing a petition filed by journalist Qurban Ali and former Patna high court judge and senior advocate Anjana Prakash, who have also sought a direction for an "independent, credible and impartial investigation" by an SIT into the incidents of hate speeches against the Muslim community.In its affidavit, the Delhi police has said that on the same subject matter, some complaints were lodged alleging that hate speech was made at an event organised in New Delhi by the ‘Hindu Yuva Vahini' on December 19 last year and all those complaints were consolidated and an inquiry was initiated.It said after a ”deep enquiry” was conducted and contents of the video were evaluated, the police did not find any substance in the video as per allegation levelled by the complainants.”In the video clip of the Delhi incident, there is no utterance against any particular section/community. Hence, after inquiry and after evaluation of the alleged video clip, it was concluded that the alleged speech did not disclose any hate words against a particular community as alleged or otherwise,” the affidavit said, adding that all complaints were thereafter closed.It said the police, after carrying out preliminary inquiry on the complaints and after examining the video link and attached video in respect of the alleged hate speech delivered at Delhi, found that no such words as mentioned by the complainant in his complaint have been used.”Bare perusal of the complaints made, the statement, which are alleged to be offensive, would divulge that there is no specific words against a particular community or against any community were uttered by the gathering or any other person in that event,” the affidavit said.”There is no use of such words which mean or could be interpreted as ‘open calls for genocide of Muslims in order to achieve ethnic cleansing or an open call for murder of an entire community' in the speech,” the police said.It said no hate was expressed in the event at Delhi against any group, community, ethnicity, religion or faith, the speech was about empowering one's religion to prepare itself to face the evils which could endanger its existence, which is not even remotely connected to a call for genocide of any particular religion.”We must practise tolerance to the views of others. Intolerance is as much dangerous to democracy as to the person himself. That the petitioner is trying to draw an incorrect and absurd inference by isolated passages disregarding the main theme and its message,” it said, adding that the petition, so far it relates to the alleged incident at Delhi, is devoid of any merit and ought to be dismissed with cost.The affidavit further said the petitioners did not choose to follow any of the legally established mechanism for registration of a criminal case and had directly approached the apex court.”This court must deprecate and discourage such practices, else it will open up the floodgates before this court, which is already overburdened,” it said.Ali, who is one of the petitioners in the apex court, said their contentions are "not baseless"."We stand by what we have said in our petition. The matter is before the Supreme Court. We will file an appropriate response before the court," he told PTI.The apex court had on Wednesday asked the Uttarakhand government to file a status report after the state had said that four FIRs have been registered in connection with the alleged hate speeches made in December last year during an event in Haridwar.The top court has listed the plea for hearing on April 22.The apex court had on January 12 issued notice on the plea which has sought direction to ensure investigation and action against those who allegedly made hate speeches during two events held in Haridwar and the national capital.It had asked the Centre, the Delhi police and the Uttarakhand police to respond to the petition.The plea, which specifically referred to the "hate speeches" delivered between the "17th and 19th of December 2021 at Haridwar and Delhi", has also sought compliance of the apex court's guidelines to deal with such speeches.One event was organised in Haridwar by Yati Narsinghanand and the other in Delhi by 'Hindu Yuva Vahini' allegedly "calling for genocide of members" of a community, it has said.The Uttarakhand police had filed an FIR on December 23 last year under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code against some persons including Sant Dharamdas Maharaj, Sadhvi Annapoorna alias Pooja Shakun Pandey, Yati Narsinghanand and Sagar Sindhu Maharaj.A similar complaint was filed with the Delhi police for the second event organised in the national capital.The plea has alleged that no effective steps have been taken by the Uttarakhand and the Delhi police.&nbsp;—PTI

New Delhi: The members of Hindu Sena — a right wing organisation — on Friday morning put up saffron flags outside the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus in the national capital forcing the police to initiate legal action and remove the said flags from there.“Today morning it has come to notice that few flags and banners have been put on the road and adjoining areas near JNU. In view of recent incidents, these were promptly removed and suitable legal action is being taken,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Manoj C said.&nbsp;Hindu Sena national vice-president, Surjit Yadav said the saffron has been insulted all along by the anti-saffron people at Jawaharlal Nehru University. “The Hindu Sena warns them. We respect you, respect each and every religion and every thought process. But the way the saffron is being insulted at JNU, the Hindu Sena will not tolerate it and can take stringent steps against it,” Yadav said. Apart from the saffron flags, tied all across the main road outside JNU, some banners were also installed that read – ‘Bhagwa JNU’. Expressing similar sentiments, Hindu Sena president Vishnu Gupta, confirmed to IANS about putting up the saffron flags and banners by his organisation’s vice president.”It is very wrong that saffron is being constantly insulted at JNU. Saffron is in India’s culture. None should oppose it,” Gupta said.Notably, the university has again become a hotbed of politics after the April 10 violence in the campus. Islamabad: In another setback to Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi, has resigned following a revolt in the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party against him.Niazi, hand-picked by his party chief Khan, resigned on Thursday after 25 lawmakers of his party moved a resolution of no-confidence motion against him to replace him with party’s regional president Sardar Tanveer Ilyas.Niazi’s ouster comes days after Khan lost a no-confidence vote in the National Assembly to become the first Pakistan prime minister to be removed unceremoniously from power.Under Article 16 (1) of the Constitution, “I, the undersigned, resign from my office of the prime minister”, reads the handwritten resignation dated April 14, which was addressed to the PoK president Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry.Dr Asif Hussain Shah, secretary of presidential affairs, confirmed that Chaudhry has received and accepted Niazi’s resignation and forwarded the same to the chief secretary for issuance of a formal notification, Dawn newspaper reported.Niazi came to power last year after PTI secured 32 seats in the 53-member House.India had rejected the elections in PoK, saying the “cosmetic exercise” was nothing but an attempt by Pakistan to “camouflage its illegal occupation”.Reacting strongly on the elections in the PoK, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi had said that Pakistan has “no locus standi on these Indian territories” and it must vacate all Indian areas under its illegal occupation.“The so-called elections in Indian territory under the illegal occupation of Pakistan are nothing but an attempt by Pakistan to camouflage its illegal occupation and the material changes undertaken by it in these territories,” he had said.“Such an exercise can neither hide the illegal occupation by Pakistan nor the grave human rights violations, exploitation, and denial of freedom to people in these occupied territories,” Bagchi said The ruling party lawmakers had charged Niazi with “loss of the trust of the parliamentary party, failure to highlight Kashmir issue and implement party manifesto in addition to bad governance, nepotism and violation of merit”, the Dawn report said.Speaking at a presser in Islamabad on Thursday, Niazi said “baseless allegations” have been levelled against him in the no-trust resolution.“I first sent my resignation to the party chairman Imran Khan and then to the president after a lapse of one hour,” he said, adding that he would continue to work as an ordinary worker of the party.Niazi was part of the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference before leaving it to join the PTI three years ago.
