Gurugram: &nbsp;A man was booked on Thursday for allegedly filing a false robbery complaint, police said.At around 11.50, one Kamal Singh, a resident of Rajendra park, called the police control room that he was robbed of over Rs 4 lakh he had withdrawn from a bank by motorcycle-borne men on Jharsa flyover at gunpoint, they said.Following the complaint, police teams were formed to crack the case. After analysing CCTV footage and taking help of technology, it was revealed that Singh had misled the police by filing a false robbery complaint, police said."He had withdrawn money but gave it to his brother's wife in Gurugram. He was in debt and also had to pay money to his labourers, so he came up with this robbery story. He has been booked for misleading police," said Pankaj Kumar, SHO of civil lines police station.—PTI

New Delhi: The internal complaints committee of the Jawaharlal Nehru University said a probe into an alleged sexual harassment case has been initiated and stringent action will be taken against the guilty.In a statement, the ICC on Tuesday said it has taken serious cognisance of the case reported to its office. However, the committee did not reveal any details of the case. "As soon as the complaint was lodged and received on 27th May 2022 at 7.46 pm, the inquiry of the case was started following due process," the notification read."ICC is committed to ensuring a free, fast and fair trial of the case and providing justice to the complainant. Stringent action will be taken against those found guilty," it said.The ICC asserted that it observes a zero-tolerance policy toward any kind of sexual harassment on the campus.An activist of the All India Students Association was last week accused of sexually harassing a woman inside the JNU campus.The victim had complained to the ICC to take "prompt action to save her from any more mental trauma and intimidation".The AISA has said that the accused is not affiliated to them. In a separate incident, a student affiliated with the National Students Union of India was held responsible for molesting a female student of northeast, according to reports.It was not immediately clear which of the two cases is being probed by the ICC.Several student outfits, including the RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, recently staged a protest demanding action against those found guilty in sexual harassment cases.—PTI

Patna: A complaint was on Friday filed at a court in&nbsp;Muzaffarpur against suspended Bharatiya Janata Party spokespersons Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal who were in news for their derogatory statements against Prophet Muhammad. The petition was filed before the Chief Judicial Magistrate's court by social activist M Raju Naiyer who has also named as a co-accused religious leader Swami Yati Narsinghanand whose similar incendiary statement has gone viral on the social media. In the petition, filed through Naiyer's advocate Manoj Singh, it has been alleged that the statements of Sharma, Jindal and Narsinghanand could trigger communal violence. The petition, which seeks action against the accused under several Indian Penal Code sections, is likely to be taken up for hearing on June 21.Sharma who made an objectionable statement about the Prophet during a TV debate on the Gyanvapi controversy, and Jindal, who posted a derogatory remark on his Twitter handle, were suspended by the party after many Islamic countries raised objections to their utterances.Both have been booked by the police in places like Delhi and Mumbai. Narsinghanand, not formally associated with the party but known to be sympathetic towards the Sangh Parivar ideology, was arrested earlier this year for making offensive remarks against Muslims and women at a public function.He has also been named in an FIR lodged at Delhi in connection with the objectionable remarks about the Prophet.—PTI

New Delhi: The NHRC has issued notices to the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Sports Authority of India (SAI), days after a woman cyclist accused the chief cycling coach of "inappropriate behaviour" during a training camp in Slovenia, according to a statement on Friday.The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), which took suo motu cognisance of the matter, sought a detailed report from the ministry's secretary and the SAI director general."It is strange to know that instead of reining in the coach, the Sports Authority of India reportedly chose to bring the victim back to India thereby depriving her of training overseas for which she had been selected," the rights panel said in the statement.It said the right to dignity of the victim has purported to have been violated, considering the fact that a coach and sportsperson have a fiduciary relation, where a coach is reposed with the trust to look after the well-being and welfare of the sportswoman. The commission has observed that the matter, if true, amounts to human rights violation of the victim sportsperson.Reportedly, as per SAI, the complainant was immediately brought back to India mid-way through her training to ensure her safety. The SAI has prima facie found the allegation as true, it said.The commission sought to know the status of physical as well as mental health of the victim, as well as action, if any, taken against the responsible officer, including the coach concerned, within four weeks. The commission would also like to know whether any specialised counselling has been provided to her by the authorities, it said.The SAI on Wednesday had terminated the contract of the chief cycling coach after a preliminary enquiry found him guilty of "inappropriate behaviour" with the female cyclist during the training camp in Slovenia.&nbsp;The SAI had taken the decision hours after it had decided to call back the entire Indian contingent from the European nation where the cyclists had gone for a training-cum-competition trip.The victim, who reportedly had feared for her life due to the alleged harassment and requested to get back home, has already been brought to the country, keeping in mind her safety.Issuing the notices, the NHRC has further observed that the Government of India has been sincerely focusing on optimum participation of women in every field, including sports, art and culture. There have been various guidelines issued to ensure safety and security of the female sports women during their training and sports activities.The commission is also of the opinion that if the allegations mentioned in the news report are true and no action is taken by the authorities with regard to such incidents, other female sports persons will not only feel unsafe, but will be reluctant to complain against perpetrators in future for fear that they may also be called back mid way during their training, it said.The subject also falls under ambit of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act of 2013, which categorically defines in its Section 2(o)(iv) that work place includes any sport institute, stadium, sports complex or competition or games venue, whether residential or not used for training, sports or other activities relating thereto. The SAI is, therefore, also under obligation to get the matter probed as per provisions of the Act, it added.According to media reports, the woman victim was part of the Indian team that was in Slovenia to prepare for the Asian Championship, which is scheduled to be held in New Delhi from June 18-22."Allegedly, the coach forcefully tried pulling her towards him and asked her to come and sleep with him and threatened to destroy her career, if not conceded to his demands," the statement said.Reportedly, when the victim could not tolerate the advances and explicit sexual overtones made by the coach, she spoke to the CEO of the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS, who booked her return ticket for June 3, 2022. The victim has mentioned in her complaint that the coach has destroyed her mentally and emotionally, which is now impacting her sporting performance.She has reportedly sought strictest possible action against the coach and not only to ensure her safety but also the safety of all others, especially the female athletes, the statement said.—PTI

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday filed second supplementary prosecution complaint at Patiala House Court against Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez in connection with Rs 200 crore money laundering case, involving multimillionaire conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar.
Jacqueline has been named an accused in the charge sheet.
Jacqueline, and another Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi, both had recorded their statements as witnesses in the case.&nbsp;
Earlier, the probe agency had attached Fernandez's fixed deposits worth Rs 7.2 crore, terming it proceeds of crime.
In February, the ED filed its first supplementary prosecution complaint against Pinky Irani, an alleged aide to Chandrashekhar who introduced him to Bollywood actresses.
Pinky used to choose costly gifts for Jacqueline and later used to drop it at her house after the payments were made by Chandrashekhar, as per the charge sheet.
In December last year, the ED filed the first charge sheet in this matter before the court of Additional Sessions Judge Praveen Singh.
Chandrashekhar spent around 20 crore on providing gifts to different models and Bollywood celebrities, which were refused by few of them.
Jacqueline confessed to have received expensive gifts from Chandrashekhar.
As per excerpt of the charge sheet, Jacqueline said, "Yes, I received expensive gifts from Sukesh. He purchased a horse "Espuela". He also brought a luxirous car for me which I returned."&nbsp;

New Delhi: Delhi Congress has filed a complaint against film director Ashok Pandit for allegedly spreading fake and distorted news about Rahul Gandhi.
In the complaint filed on Thursday, the party said Pandit incited, provoked the public, thereby creating enmity between groups, and such offences are punishable under the IPC 1860 and other legal provisions.
Pandit had tweeted which he deleted later: “Janaudhari Rahul Gandhi refusing to perform Aarti! The reason is clear!”
Delhi Congress alleged that the tweet was accompanied with maliciously distorted and clipped video of Rahul Gandhi, “wherein it was sought to portray Shri. Rahul Gandhi as refusing to partake in religious rituals being performed in Rajkot (Gujarat) while worshipping goddess Durga. It must be pointed out that the video was created by morphing (through deliberately editing) an older video in which Shri Rahul Gandhi was indeed offering prayers in direct contradiction to what was being portrayed by Ashok Pandit. 29/09/22.”
The party said the impression that was sought to be conveyed from the mischievously captioned post and accompanying distorted video clip, was that Rahul Gandhi had refused to perform a sacred ritual during a religious ceremony and in doing so had offended the sentiments of other members of the Hindu community.
“This was nothing short of a deliberate and motivated attempt to outrage religious sentiments of members of the Hindu community using deliberately falsified videos,” the Congress said.
In a tweet on Friday, Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh said, “Last night, a police complaint was filed in Delhi against a totally fake video on Rahul Gandhi. The offender deleted his social media post after it was exposed, but he will face the law for his atrocious deed. We will not allow such people to get away lightly.”&nbsp;

Amroha, UP (The Hawk): In a video posted on Facebook, a 23-year-old woman who vanished from her home on November 8 claimed that she got married "willingly, without any coercion," but that her father, a head constable in the UP police, stalked her, her husband, and her in-laws and even kidnapped her father-in-law.
Parul Vashistha, the woman, claimed that because her husband is from a backward community and she is a Brahmin, her family was against the union.
In search of safety, she had also met Amroha SP Aditya Langeh.
The SP confirmed that a police investigation has been launched and that the woman's father has been taken into custody to be questioned.
Three days after she vanished, her father, Roop Kishor Sharma, who is stationed in Badaun, reported her missing.
In the video, the woman claimed that her father had made a "false complaint" and that she had not been kidnapped but was instead happily married and residing in the Amroha neighbourhood of Jaggawala village with her husband, Ajay Pawar.
"When he was taken away on Wednesday, my father-in-law, Padam Singh Pawar, was engaged in his line of work. My father is to blame for this. The lives of my in-laws are in danger, and I want to protect them "In the one minute long video, she can be heard saying.

Ramnagar, Karnataka (The Hawk): On Wednesday, Hindu Jagarana Vedike and locals reported to the police what they claimed to be forced religious conversions at a farm residence in this state's district.
They sought the removal of crosses erected on public property as well as the eviction of the farm home situated inside the boundaries of the M.K. Doddi police station.
The lawsuit claims that missionaries have built an unauthorised prayer hall in the village of Kannamangala, close to Channapatna town.
More than 200 people are brought in from different regions of the state each day and forced to become Christians. The complaint claimed that DJ music and cutting-edge loudspeakers are being utilised to brainwash individuals.
Villagers went to the Hindu Jagaran Vedike with their complaints after the authorities did little to address them. The complaint demands that the illegal prayer hall be taken down and that use of the property be restricted to that permitted by the local government.
The cross and Jesus Christ monuments erected on government land have also been ordered to be taken down by the locals and the Hindu group.
They claimed that religious conversion ceremonies cause additional noise pollution. Additionally, the complaint calls for an end to outsiders converting to religion.
The locals claimed that when they questioned someone named Dennis George and his family, as well as Alwin and his accomplices, about the development, they received a threat to their lives.
In this regard, the peasants had also organised a demonstration. The police have opened an investigation after registering a case.

New Delhi (The Hawk): According to officials, the Election Commission's CVIGIL App has become a significant instrument for quickly reporting illegal political activity and violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
Himachal Pradesh reported more than 1,000 cases in total, of which over 800 were verified and warranted action. 185 documented occurrences of money distribution and over 580 reported cases of posting banners and posters without authorization.
Over 5,100 out of a total of 6,000 cases recorded in Gujarat were confirmed as being accurate. The illegal hanging of posters and banners resulted in a total of more than 3,600 offences.
A single app called CVIGIL is used for documenting, reporting, and resolving breaches. It automatically captures GIS location and allows anonymous complaints from citizens, candidates, and political parties. According to officials, EC teams respond within a 100-minute timeframe.
In addition, EC harshly punished SSP Mainpuri and Etawah for disobeying its directives on the transfer and posting of officials in the bye elections for the Mainpuri Parliamentary Constituency of Uttar Pradesh.
It gave SSP Mainpuri the order to fire six police officers.
The Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh has been ordered to make sure that force deployment for the by-election for the 21-Mainpuri Parliamentary Constituency is strictly done under the supervision of the concerned General and Police Observer, following the established procedure of randomization etc.
According to the officials, a key component of the Commission's current directives to promote justice is the randomization of local police forces.

New Delhi (The Hawk): In the past three years, the Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) has received over 60 lakh complaints.
Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh stated that these complaints were received from January 1, 2020 to November 30, 2022 in a written response to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
He claimed that the government was sensitive to the prompt and efficient resolution of complaints, and that CPGRAMS gives citizens the option to record their feedback on the portal in order to assess the quality of resolutions. If a resolution is rated as subpar, the option to appeal to the subsequent higher authority is enabled.
The minister disclosed that the government has also established a feedback Call Center to obtain the public's feedback on issues that have been resolved. If the citizen is not happy with how their complaint was handled, they can also file an appeal through the call centre.
A total of 2,40,932 appeals have been lodged against 40,73,464 grievances that were resolved between January 2021 and November 2022.
In order to improve the Grievance Redressing Officers' (GROs) ability to handle complaints effectively, the federal government has implemented a number of initiatives. The Minister listed these measures as training grievance officers under the Sevottam, operationalizing a dashboard to monitor GRO performance, regular meetings with GROs and nodal officers for performance reviews, publishing monthly reports on CPGRAMS, and constructing a facility for root-cause analysis of grievances using next-generation technology.

Dr. Meenakshi Parikh, director of postgraduate diploma programmes and research at the medical college, informed the media on Wednesday that the anti-ragging committee had received complaints sent by the head of the orthopaedic department.
At the aforementioned complaint, the junior resident doctors in the orthopaedic wing claimed that their seniors were intimidating, torturing them mentally, and physically abusing them by beating them with shoes, belts, and rubber bands, making them perform sit-ups, and even slapping them.
"Junior physicians have not specified when or where this has occurred in the complaint, but it seems it is likely to be happening in the hostel, Operation theatre, and in the Orthopedic wing over a period of time," the Director added.
According to Dr. Parikh, a meeting of the anti-ragging committee has been scheduled for the afternoon, at which time young doctors, witnesses, and senior doctors who are the targets of the complaint will be asked to give testimony. "Serious action will be taken against senior resident doctors," he stated. "If substance is found in the claims."
The director stated that "responsible doctors can have their enrollment cancelled or their suspension from the college for a period of time."

Bengaluru News: In a horrific incident, a specially-abled woman was allegedly raped by a 65-year-old from Mangaluru city of Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka on Tuesday.

The police have launched a hunt for the rapist who has disappeared after the incident.

According to police, the accused has been identified as Raja Bhat, a resident of Surinje. The complaint in this regard had been lodged with Mangaluru Womens' Police Station.

Police explained that the victim resided with her brother's family. When the victim's brother and her sister-in-law had gone out for work, the accused had entered the house and raped her.

The neighbours who observed something amiss informed the family members of the victim. After finding out that the accused raped the victim, a complaint was registered with Surathkal police station. Later, the case was transferred to the Women's Police Station.

Police said that the accused Raja Bhat is living alone in a rented house. After observing that the specially-abled woman is alone at home during day-time, he planned and committed the crime. He is absconding after a complaint was lodged against him. Investigation is on in the case. IANS

Specially-abled woman raped by 65-yr-old in K’taka

Surendranagar News: The Surendranagar district police on Thursday booked a minor girl, along with her mother, for concealing the birth and death of a baby.

According to sources, the girl was allegedly raped repeatedly by a man in Ahmedabad.

The case came to light when the mother of the girl filed a rape complaint with the police on March 29.

An FIR was filed against the 17-year-old rape survivor and her mother under IPC sections 318 and 114 at a police station in Surendranagar on Tuesday.

The case was registered based on a complaint filed by a deputy superintendent of police (DySP) of Ahmedabad Rural police.

According to the FIR, "The mother, while giving her complaint about the rape of her daughter, didn't disclose that her daughter had also given birth to a baby girl on March 24, 2023, and thus, from the very outset, her intention was to cover up the birth of the baby girl."

The woman had earlier filed a complaint stating that a man repeatedly raped her daughter.

The Ahmedabad police had booked the accused under IPC Section 376(2)(n) for repeatedly raping the minor, under Section 506(2) for threatening the victim, and under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act on March 29. The accused was also booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

During the investigation, police found that the mother had not disclosed that her daughter had given birth to a child as a result of the repeated rapes. She also did not reveal that the accused had given the minor survivor pills on March 23 to induce an abortion.

The FIR filed at a Surendranagar police station states that the victim gave birth to a baby girl at a primary health centre in Ahmedabad district on March 24.

The victim and her mother then took the newborn to their native village in Surendranagar district, where they buried the baby in a secluded place after she died at around 3 a.m that day.

On learning about the incident, police filed a complaint. For further investigation, the body of the newborn was exhumed on Tuesday after submitting relevant details to the office of the local magistrate.

The mortal remains of the baby were shifted to the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Government Hospital, popularly known as Rajkot Civil Hospital, in Rajkot for a forensic post-mortem. IANS

Bhopal: A 12-year-old boy was allegedly stripped and forced to chant religious slogans in Madhya Pradesh's Indore, a senior police official said on Friday.

The accused, who are also minors and known to the victim, have been detained, the official said on Friday.

According to police, the incident came into light late on Thursday after a video of the incident surfaced on social media. The victim was playing near Star Square when one of the accused approached him and took him to another location.

The victim told police that upon reaching near a flyover in Mahalaxmi Nagar area, another boy joined them. The duo forced him to chant religious slogans. They also allegedly beat him and made him take off his clothes.

He managed to escape and narrated the entire incident to his parents. Following which, the parents took him to a nearby police station and lodged a complaint on Thursday.

"Accused and the victim were known to each other. We have detained the accused and booked them under relevant IPC. We have also requested people not to make the video of the incident viral on social media, as both accused and victim are minor. We are trying to find out what made the accused do such an act," police said.

Srinagar: JK Peace Forum, an organisation of Kashmiri Pandits, on Tuesday filed a criminal complaint addressed to ADGP (Kashmir) alleging criminal involvement in usurping the land belonging to a temple in Srinagar.

The complaint has sought lodging of an FIR against those allegedly involved in illegal use of Durga Nag Temple property worth crores.

The complainant has accused the lessee of the temple land for sub-lease which is illegal under the law and thereafter, the complainant accuses Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), a local bank and the final beneficiaries who have allegedly benefitted from illegal transfer of land into different hands till commercial structures came up on the temple land.

The complaint has also referred to the observations of the Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) which, according to the complainant, held that the sub-lease of the land had been illegal.

The complaint accuses the management of the Durga Nag Temple, Revenue Department, SMC and the J&amp;K Bank for allegedly aiding and abetting illegal activities that violated established laws and led to transfer of endowment property owned by the "deity" of the shrine to the third parties and the unauthorised construction of commercial structures on those properties, including hotels, motels and commercial complexes. Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched an application created aiming to make the roads free of potholes in the state, said an official statement on Thursday.
The application named "Patch Reporting App" was developed by the Public Works Department.
According to the statement, the application was made by the Public Works Department in an attempt to make the roads pothole free. It added that this application allowed any person with the Patch Reporting application could submit a detailed complaint by capturing pictures of potholes on the nearby roads.
"Through this application, any person can register his complaint with complete information by taking photographs of potholes found on the roads around him. Information about the action taken on the complaint lodged through the app will also be made available to the complainant along with pictures," it said.
CM Dhami also said that the "Patch Reporting App" would be beneficial in making the roads of the state pothole-free.
Additionally, he gave the Public Works Department's employees the directive that the complaint about potholes on the road sent through the application was to be remedied within a week and that the authorities' accountability for doing so needed to be established.
"CM Pushkar Singh Dhami instructed the officials of the Public Works Department that the complaint made by the complainant regarding potholes on the road through the app should be resolved within a week, for which the responsibility of the officials should also be fixed," said the statement.
The Uttarakhand chief minister added that the high officials of the Public Works Department should also monitor the working of the application regularly.
"Strict instructions were given by CM Dhami to the officers of the Public Works Department to make the roads of the state completely pothole-free," the statement said.
The statement said that through the help of the "Patch Reporting App," the location and information about the data pit spot would be automatically presented by latitude and longitude.
"On the basis of the information received from the app, the Public Works Department will take quick action and the details of the work along with pictures will be received by the concerned complainant and the higher officer," it said. —ANI

Gurugram: A total of 271 complaints of medical negligence against doctors and staff working at private and government hospitals in Gurugram have been recorded from January 2019 to April 15, 2023.

District Medical Negligence Board has claimed that of the total negligence complaints, 253 have been resolved and 18 are pending due to various official reasons.

Of the 271 complaints, 74 were lodged in 2019, 46 in 2020, 81 in 2021, 48 in 2022 and 22 were lodged from January 1, 2023, to April 15, 2023.

Health officials revealed that the District Medical Negligence Board is supposed to complete its inquiry in each case and submit a report within 60 days. However, in many cases, the inquiry gets delayed due to backlog or because one of the parties is missing hearings or delaying the submission of documents.

The six-member board includes the chief medical officer or his representative (chairman), the principal medical officer (member secretary), two specialists from the medical field concerned, the president of the Indian Medical Association's (IMA) Gurugram chapter, and a member of the National Integrated Medical Association.

"There are only 2 to 3 percent cases which prima facie appear to be genuine. There are also some cases where people living life without treatment suddenly get admitted to the hospital and die. But there are also those cases where people refuse to pay the bill in corporate hospitals after the patient dies. In such cases, we conduct inquiries but that is time taking process," said Dr Deepak Bhatia, member of the medical board and president of IMA, Gurugram. IANS

Panaji: Goa Police have arrested two women and a man for allegedly extorting money from a person in Gujarat by threatening to file a false complaint of rape.
Superintendent of Police (North Goa) Nidhin Valsan said that investigations were launches on the basis of a complaint filed by Kiran Patel against the two women, who are also from Gujarat.  Prima facie revealed that the accused were running an extortion racket by threatening to lodge fake rape cases.
He said that one of the women had lodged a rape complaint on August 23 at the Colvale police station against a non-Goan person.  “Later, the investigating officer found out that the complainant had lodged complaints in different matters (in Goa). As she was from Gujarat, we contacted our counterparts there and got information that she was a complainant in various FIRs,” Valsan said.
“At the same time we got a complaint from one businessman saying that these complainants (women) had actually extorted money from him saying they will accuse him in a rape case. We found out that they had done multiple FIRs in Gujarat and Goa. They were actually running racket of extorting businessmen saying they will be arrested in rape case.”
According to the police, the two women also disclosed the name of their co-accused involved in the crime as Vishwadeep Gohil from Bhavnagar Gujarat.  “During the course of investigation, it was learnt that the accused involved in the crime have filed complaints of rape at various police stations in Goa as well as in Gujarat. The details of these cases are being obtained from the stations and further investigation is in progress,” Valsan said.  An offence has been registered under section 386, 120B of IPC.
The racket of extorting money by these people were jointly busted by Colvale and Calangute Police in North Goa.  —IANS

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday suspended former Prime Minister Imran Khan's sentence in the Toshakhana case and ordered his release from jail.  A division bench of the IHC, comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Tariq Mehmood Jahangir, announced the much-anticipated reserved decision, The Express Tribune reported.  The court said that the copy of the judgement will be available shortly.
On Monday, the counsel for the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the defendant in this case, concluded his arguments.  A heavy contingent of police and paramilitary Frontier Constabulary is present inside and outside IHC premises, The Express Tribune reported.  Separately, the former premier's sisters Aleema and Uzma Khan also reached the court.  Meanwhile, a petition has been submitted on behalf of the PTI chief by his lawyer Suleman Safdar, praying to the court to restrain the Federal Investigation Agency, National Accountability Bureau and the police from arresting him in any other case.  Khan's legal team has requested the court to hear this plea today.  When the IHC bench resumed hearing the case on Monday, ECP’s counsel Amjad Pervaiz presented detailed arguments responding to the points raised by Khan’s lead counsel Latif Khosa.  At the first hearing of the case on August 25, Khosa had argued that Imran’s sentence should be suspended in view of an unauthorized filing of a complaint by the ECP; lack of jurisdiction; the fact that Imran was sentenced to only three years in prison; that the trial court deprived him of the right of defence and that it delivered the order without hearing arguments about the complaint’s maintainability.

Bijnor (The Hawk): The Bijnor police have forced a young restaurant owner to leave his pet monkey in the forest area.  Mohd Nazim(24), had found an injured baby monkey on his rooftop 18 months ago and he nursed it back to health.
Nazim, who lives in Noorpur’s Islam Nagar mohalla, claimed that he tried to leave the monkey in the forest several times, but every time, it returned.  Two days ago, someone made a video clip of the monkey at the restaurant, following which Bajrang Dal activists filed a police complaint alleging animal cruelty.  Soon, the police arrived and directed him to release the monkey in a faraway forest.  Nazim told TOI on Tuesday, “There was an emotional bond with my pet.When my friend refused to eat bread, I gave him fruits daily.I had also dressed it like a child.”  SHO of Noorpur, Sanjay Tomar, said, “A man complained against Nazim and alleged he was misbehaving with a monkey.We inquired about it and talked to Nazim.  In the meantime, he has left the monkey in Paijaniya forest.”
In a similar incident in March, Mohd Arif of Amethi developed a bond with a Sarus crane but was forced to hand it over to officials after people objected to a popular video showing the bird accompanying Arif.
