Ballia:&nbsp;Dead bodies of a father-son duo were recovered from separate places in a village here on Tuesday, police said. The deceased were identified as Uma Shankar Singh (60) and his son Vikram Singh (26), they said. The villagers found Vikram dead in a well in Haldi area of Sonavani village with injury marks on his body, they said. When police reached his residence, his father, Uma Shankar was also found dead, they said. The bodies have been sent for the post-mortem examination and probe is on, police said.—PTI

Ballia: Two persons, including an eight year old boy, were killed after being hit by a car here, police said on Friday.Two others were injured in the accident.According to police, the incident occured in Bhojpur village under Sukhpura police station on Thursday night.The deceased were identified as Kishan (8) and Devnath (42).One Paswan (30) and Kundan Bharti (9) sustained injuries and have been admitted to the district hospital, they said.Circle Officer (CO) of the area Priti Tripathi said that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.Some people were drinking alcohol inside an SUV whose ignition was on. The vehicle suddenly started moving and ran over two people before hitting a tree, the officer added.—PTI

Ballia (UP): A man allegedly stabbed a woman to death and injured her two relatives here, police said on Sunday. They said the accused surrendered before the police after the incident on Saturday night. Superintendent of Police Raj Karan Nayyar said the man, identified as Dilshad of Baheri locality in the Ballia Sadar Kotwali area, barged into the house of his neighbour Armana (27) and killed her after stabbing her with a sharp weapon. The man also attacked woman's aunt Badru Nisha (56) and uncle Kurban Shah (60), he said, adding they have been admitted to a hospital in Varanasi and their condition is stated to be critical. After the incident, Dilshad reached Kotwali in Ballia city and surrendered before the police. The body has been sent for post-mortem, police said. According to sources, Dilshad was slapped by the woman following a dispute over some issue a few days ago.&nbsp;

Ballia: A woman in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district was brutally murdered by a man using a sword for allegedly insulting and slapping him. The incident took place on Sunday night and the accused Dilshad Ali Sonu surrendered before the Kotwali police. SP Ballia Raj Karan Nayyar said: "Dilshad Ali, a native of Baheri area under the limits of Kotwali police station, went to his neighbouring house where Armana lived and attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon over some personal dispute. In the bid to save Armana, her family members Kurban Shah, 60, and Badrunnisha, 56, were also injured." Badrunnisha and Shah have been admitted to a hospital. Later, Dilshad went to the police station with the murder weapon and surrendered.

Ballia: BJP leader and former head of Asanwar village Suresh Verma was shot dead on Thursday night while he was returning after securing bail for his close aid, informed police officers.
Verma was riding pillion on a bike driven by Dev Kumar, his aide.
Dev Kumar said they were returning home after securing bail for a close friend from the village when two attackers on a bike came from behind and opened fire at the BJP leader.
Ballia SP Rajkaran Nayyar said a case has been registered against three people.
"A case has been registered against three people and two people have been taken into custody and are being interrogated," said Nayyar.
He said teams have been put together to look for the assailants.

New Delhi: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday inaugurated seven national highway projects with an investment of Rs 6,500 crore in Chitbada village, Ballia, Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking on the occasion, Gadkari said with the construction of Ballia Link Expressway, it would be possible to reach Patna from Lucknow through Purvanchal Expressway in just four and a half hours. He said Ballia to Buxar can be reached in half an hour, Ballia to Chhapra in one hour and Ballia to Patna in one and half hours. With the construction of the greenfield highway, eastern Uttar Pradesh will get better connectivity with Chhapra, Patna, Buxar in Bihar, he added.
The Minister said vegetables of the farmers of Ballia would be able to reach the mandis of Lucknow, Varanasi and Patna easily. He said vegetable-producing farmers would get the direct benefit of three multi-modal terminals Varanasi, Ghazipur and Haldia through this expressway. Gadkari said the greenfield road from Chandauli to Mohania being constructed at a cost of Rs 130 crore would provide connectivity to Chandauli in Uttar Pradesh and Kaimur district of Bihar through the Delhi-Kolkata GT Road. He said with the construction of Saidpur to Mardah road, there would be direct connectivity of Mau to Varanasi via Saidpur. He said due to better connectivity with other cities of the state economic and social condition of the state would improve as well as backward areas of Azamgarh district will get new connectivity.
On this occasion, Gadkari also announced the new connectivity route between Ballia-Ara through 28 km greenfield spur road at a cost of Rs 1,500 crore.

Ballia: At least four people were dead and about two dozen others feared missing after a boat carrying some 40 persons capsized in the Tamsa River in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district on Monday.

The bodies of four women have been retrieved so far.

According to reports, the boat it capsized apparently due to overcrowding.

Sources said that the people were on their way to a local fair when the accident took place.

Rescue operations are underway with the help of local boatmen.

At least four people were dead and about two dozen others feared missing after a boat carrying some 40 persons capsized in the Tamsa River in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district on Monday.


Ballia: Lack of adequate arrangements at the Ganga ghat led to the death of four persons, including three women, when their boat capsized in the Ganga river in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday morning. Four persons were injured and have been hospitalised.
The victims were going in the boat to perform 'parikrama' to the other end of the river, as part of the 'mundan sanskar' of their children.
The incident was proof of administrative negligence since there were no river guards or divers at the spot even though large crowds had gathered there for the ceremonies. Lalta Prasad, who had come for the mundan (a religious head shaving ceremony) ceremony of his grandson at Maldeghat and managed to swim to safety when the boat overturned, said, "The fair is held every year but we always have divers and 'Jal police' to regulate boat traffic and prevent overcrowding. Today, there was no such deployment." His family was on another boat when the accident took place.
He said that all those who had gathered at Maldeghat were local people who perform 'mundan' ceremonies of children on the banks of the river. Raj Karan Nayyar, superintendent of police, Ballia, said those injured were undergoing treatment in a hospital and doctors have stated their condition is stable.
District magistrate Ravindra Kumar said the engine of the boat on which around 30 people, including men, women and children were travelling, developed a technical snag in the middle of the Ganga river.
As the engine suddenly stopped, passengers tried to leave the boat following which it capsized when it was close to the Peepa Pul ghat. Local boatmen present at the ghat saw the boat capsizing and immediately rushed to help. They jumped into the river to bring the victims out and residents also threw ropes to help the boat's passengers. Senior police and administrative officials reached the spot much after the accident and helped in the rescue operations. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the district officials to ensure proper treatment of the injured persons.

Four Dead As Boat Capsizes In Up’s Ballia

Ballia: An FIR has been lodged against a youth in Ballia for allegedly posting objectionable comments against Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav on social networking sites.
DSP Shiv Narain Vaish said that the accused Ram Dhani Rajbhar posted comments on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).
The remarks were posted between September 3 and 7, he said, adding SP workers had demanded action against Rajbhar.
The FIR has been registered at Maniyar police station under relevant sections of the IPC and IT Act, he said.
The police are trying to arrest the accused, he said.
Dimple Yadav, the wife of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, is MP from Mainpuri.
