Baghpat:&nbsp;A farmer was found shot dead in one of his fields here on Friday, police said.Deceased Madanpal (65) had gone out to keep a watch on his fields in Mansoorpur village under Chandinagar police station limits on Thursday evening. The villagers found him lying in a pool of blood with a bullet injury on his head this morning, police said.Based on the complaint filed by his family members, a villager named Sunny has been booked under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code, police said.The farmer's body has been sent for post-mortem, they said."Madanpal had gone to keep a watch on his fields on Thursday night. Sometime in the night, he was shot dead in his sleep by unidentified assailants," police inspector Janak Singh said.—PTI

Baghpat, UP (The Hawk): The Binauli police circle has sent more police officers to the godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim's ashram in Baghpat.
Given that Dera founder Ram Rahim is currently residing there, the security at the Barnawa Ashram of Dera Sacha Sauda has been boosted.
The leader of Barnawa Dera Sacha Sauda Ashram, Gurmeet Ram Rahim, is currently incarcerated at Rohtak's Sunaria Jail for the crimes of rape and murder. He has been given 40 days of parole and is residing at the Barnawa Ashram during this time.
A top police official who wished to remain anonymous revealed that suspicious people were being closely monitored in the ashram.
Regular visitors' IDs and those of sevadars entering the ashram are scrutinised, and cell phones are not permitted.

Baghpat, UP (The Hawk): A young man in his early 30s was discovered hanged from a tree in a graveyard behind Mandi Samiti in the Khekra neighbourhood of the Baghpat district.
Upon getting information, a police squad rushed to the scene and sent the body to a local hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Vijay Chaudhary, the circle officer, stated that the matter is being investigated from every perspective but that the precise cause of the victim's death has not yet been determined.
Police found a suicide note nearby, he continued. It has not yet been determined who the victim is. After the autopsy report is received, further information might be made public.

New Delhi: A 32-year-old man was found dead with a stab wound on his neck inside a taxi in Delhi's Jaffrabad area on Tuesday, a police official said.

The deceased was identified as Arjun, a resident of Baghpat district in Uttar Pradesh.

The police received a PCR call at 5.31 a.m. regarding a man bleeding profusely inside a car at the Yamuna Vihar Road.

"Acting on the call, a police team rushed to the spot where Arjun was found dead in the driver seat of the Maruti Ertiga car. He had stab wounds on his neck. The vehicle is a taxi with ABP Tours and Management, Gurugram," the official said.

"The CCTV in the vicinity is being examined for evidence. FSL and crime teams have been summoned. Police teams are also checking call details record of the deceased." IANS

Saharanpur: Seven persons have been booked for tying a man to a pole and beating him up badly with sticks near Paramount Colony of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh. The accused suspected the 20-year-old man, identified as Mohd Rehman, of stealing iron rods from a construction site. The incident took place on Tuesday. An FIR under sections 147 (rioting), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement) of IPC has been lodged against seven persons at Sadar Bazar police station. One of the accused, identified as Amit Sharma, has been arrested, said police. A video of the entire incident was widely circulated on the Internet, following which police took cognisance of the matter and swung into action, said SP (city) Abhimanyu Manglik on Thursday. "The matter is being investigated," the SP added. Accused Amit Sharma is seen in the video beating the man and telling the others to beat Rehman properly, Manglik added. Rehman, in his statement to police, said, "The accused caught me, and without listening to me tied me to a pole and started beating me." In a 53 second video, a man is seen tied to a pole and beaten by a group of 5-7 people while many passersby stopped to witness the drama. The victim is seen begging for mercy but the accused kept on beating him. —IANS

Baghpat (UP): A 40-year-old man was suddenly taken ill while he was being questioned in a robbery case at a police station here and died during treatment at a hospital, police said on Friday.
Superintendent of Police Arpit Vijayvargiya said the deceased, Praveen, was among three persons booked for robbery following a complaint by an advocate Tejveer Singh.  The incident took place here on March 16 when Singh was going home on a motorcycle around 7.30 pm when three bike-borne men allegedly intercepted him, after which they thrashed him and looted Rs 50,000.  On the complaint of the advocate, the Baghpat Kotwali police had registered a case and took two men --Deepesh alias Deep and Neeraj -- into custody for interrogation, the SP said.
On the duo's instance, the police called Praveen for questioning on March 20 at the Baghpat Kotwali police station.  Praveen's health deteriorated suddenly at night and he was admitted to a hospital in Meerut where both police and Praveen's family members were present during treatment.  Praveen, however, died on Thursday morning, the SP said, adding that legal action is being taken to probe the death.
