New Delhi (The Hawk): The Parliamentary Consultative Committee meeting for Ministry of Steel was convened on 6th May 2022 at Shimla to brainstorm on the topic “Transition towards Green Steel” under the Chairmanship of the Union Steel Minister,&nbsp;Shri Ram Chandra Prasad Singh. The Chairman urged upon the stakeholders to come together in development of a time bound action plan and concerted efforts for lowering of the emissions from the steel industry in line with the commitments made so that production of Green Steel can be fulfilled and promote “Atmanirbhar Bharat”.In this meeting, fruitful discussions were held between the Members of the Committee with the senior officials from Ministry of Steel and senior officials &amp; experts from the steel industry, on the present scenario and the way forward for promoting the transition towards Green Steel. Various strategies &amp; technologies that can be adopted by the steel industry to produce green steel, their pros &amp; cons and their Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) and when these are like to be available commercially were also discussed. The focus of the discussion was on the prospects of use of Green Hydrogen for use in producing iron and also the use of CCUS technologies for lowering the emissions in line with the commitments made in COP26. The emissions from the Indian iron &amp; steel industry is higher primarily due to higher usage coal based energy source and as reductant. It is thus imperative for the Indian steel industry to reduce its emissions substantially and pressure to reduce it is growing by the day in view of the commitments made in the COP26.

The probe agency has started searches at 17 locations in Delhi and Bihar, they said. New Delhi: Amid claims by the Hindu side of having discovered a 'Shivling' inside the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi, the Muslim side has been claiming that it is a textbook repeat of the Ayodhya issue where idols were kept inside the then mosque. And this time deliberately inside the complex, its being claimed that the "Shivling" has been discovered without waiting for the court orders.AIMIM leader and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi was the first to respond and even slammed the court order directing the sealing of the place where the Shivling was discovered in the survey."This is a textbook repeat of December 1949 in Babri Masjid. This order itself changes the religious nature of the Masjid. This is a violation of the 1991 Act. This was my apprehension and it has come true. Gyanvapi Masjid was, and will remain a Masjid till judgement day, Inshallah," Owaisi said.It was alleged that in 1949, idols were kept inside the disputed Babri Mosque. However, the court in its judgement has given the land to the Ram temple, and the construction is on in full swing.The FIR on the morning of 23 December 1949, registered by the Ayodhya police following the planting of the idol of Lord Ram in the Babri Masjid on the night before, named Abhiram Das as the prime accused. Later in 1986 the locks were opened and the Hindu side was allowed to worship and subsequently in 1992 it was demolished.The Muslim side apprehends that the discovery of the 'Shivling" as claimed by the Hindu side is nothing but a fountain and the media is sensationalising the issue without putting out all the facts properly. It said that the lower court has violated the 1991 law and thus the survey itself is null and void, but experts say that the matter is now under consideration of the apex court.The Muslim side is also upset with the media reporting and sensationalising the issue. The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has said that the Board's legal team would extend all the necessary assistance to the Muslim side. The lawyer for Intezamia committee Fuzail Ahmed Ayyubi said, "We don't want to comment on any issue since the matter is under consideration of the apex court, the issue should not be sensationalised."The issue was also taken up by Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani, the President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, who said that there should be no interference from Muslim organisations and people should not get provoked. "In this regard, the Masjid Intezamiya Committee (mosque management committee) is a party in various courts of the country. It is believed that it will fight this case vigorously till the end. Other Muslim organisations of the country are urged not to interfere directly in this case in any court. If they want to provide help or assist in the case, they can do that through the Masjid Intezamiya Committee," Madani said.The Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind said that scholars and public speakers are urged to refrain from participating in TV debates and discussions on this issue. The case is sub-judice, so provocative debates and social media speeches are by no means in the interest of the country and the nation. —IANS

Prasad arrived in Patna along with eldest daughter Misa Bharti, at whose Delhi residence he had stayed since his release on bail granted last month by the Jharkhand high court in fodder scam cases.A huge throng of RJD supporters was present at the airport to welcome the otherwise flamboyant leader, who appeared morose, on a wheelchair with a mask on his face. Karimnagar (Telangana): Pledging to establish "Ram Rajya" in Telangana, BJP chief Bandi Sanjay on Wednesday challenged AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi to excavate all mosques of the state and if shivlingas are found, then the Muslims will have to hand the mosques to the Hindus and if bodies are found, Muslims can claim those.Addressing the Hindu Ekta Yatra held on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti in Karimnagar, Bandi Sanjay said, "Wherever mosque premises are excavated, Shivalingas are found. I'm challenging Owaisi that we will dig all mosques in the State. If dead bodies are recovered, you (Muslims) claim it. If Shiva (Shivalinga) is found, hand it over to us. Will you accept it?"When BJP will come to power in Telangana, minority reservations will be abolished and the Urdu language will be banned, he said. "If 'Rama Rajya' comes, we will completely ban the Urdu language. In the country wherever bomb blasts take place, it's because Madrasas have become the training centers for terrorists. We should identify them," Telangana BJP chief said.He vowed that the BJP would get the state rid of the evil forces and establish Ram Rajya. "If the BJP comes to power, we shall shut down all the Madarsas, do away with the reservations being given to minorities and provide additional quota for SCs, STs, OBCs and EBCs. We shall also permanently ban Urdu as the second official language," he said. He said he would continue to be like the son of Karimnagar and assured that he would stand by the people of the district in all their needs. Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi had managed to stop the Russia-Ukraine war for three hours to provide a safe passage to Indian medical students stuck in the conflict zone, former union law minister and senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad has claimed. While interacting with mediapersons here on Friday, Prasad said that the incident took place when the war was at its peak and a large number of Indian medical students were trapped in Ukraine.“It was a big challenge for the Indian government to evacuate medical students stranded in Ukraine due to war. When PM Modi asked the high commissioners of India in Ukraine and Russia about the evacuation plan, they said that it is possible only when a ceasefire is observed. They also said that the PM was capable of doing it,” Prasad claimed. “Following their suggestions, the PM spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky to stop the war so that the Indian medical students could be evacuated from the affected areas. The PM told the leaders that he would not leave his children in a war zone. Following his conversation, the war was stopped for three hours to give safe passage to Indian students. This is the status of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the world,” Prasad said. A large number of Indian medical students were trapped in Kiev, Kharkiv, Mariupol and other cities after the war broke out between Russia and Ukraine on February 24.—IANS

The Shiv Sena has fielded two candidates, its MVA allies Nationalist Congress Party and Congress have nominated one candidate each, while the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party has put up three candidates.The BJP has votes to win two seats, while the Sena, NCP and Congress can comfortably win one seat each.The AIMIM held a meeting in Nanded on Monday, but the party did not come up with any decision on support to the MVA or the BJP.On Tuesday, Owaisi said, "No one from the MVA has contact us or our MLAs in Maharashtra. If they want our support, they should contact us."'If they don't want our support, it is ok. We are talking to our MLAs. We will take a decision in a day or two," he added.&nbsp;However, AIMIM MP from Aurangabad, Imtiaz Jaleel, told PTI that they have some issues pertaining to the&nbsp;constituencies held by their party in the state. "We will keep those issues before the government also. Medininagar:&nbsp;RJD chief Lalu Prasad had a narrow escape on Tuesday morning as a fire that broke out in a room of the circuit house in Jharkhand's Palamu district where he was staying could be doused in time, officials said.Prasad, 73, was having breakfast in his room around 8 am when the wall-mounted fan caught fire, they said.The fire was immediately doused by his aides, they added."The fire was caused by a short circuit and electricity supply to the premises was snapped after the incident," Deputy Commissioner of Palamu Shashiranjan told PTI.No one has suffered any injury due to the incident and no significant damage has been reported, he said.The short circuit has been rectified and the fan that caught fire was removed, he added.Prasad arrived in Medininagar, the district headquarters of Palamu, on Monday to appear before a special court on Wednesday in connection with a 13-year-old case pertaining to the violation of the Model Code of Conduct during elections.He is slated to appear in the court of special judge Satish Kumar Munda.A case under IPC sections 188, 279, 290, 291 and 34, and section 127 of Representation of People's Act was registered against the RJD chief in Garhwa district after his chopper had diverted and landed in a paddy field allegedly owing to the mistake of the pilot instead of the scheduled helipad in Medininagar during the 2009 assembly polls in Jharkhand.Prasad's counsel Prabhat Kumar said the case was later transferred to Ranchi and then to Medininagar.—PTI

Chennai :&nbsp;Gurit Wind Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Switzerland-based Gurit Group, has inaugurated its new plant in Tamil Nadu that was set up at an investment of Rs 250 crore, the company said on Wednesday. The facility, spread across 16 acres at Greenbase Indstrial and Logistics Park, Oragadam, near here, would generate 300 direct jobs. The plant was inaugurated by chairman of Gurit Group Rudolf Hadorn and CEO Mitja Schulz recently, a company statement said here. "The facility in Chennai will be home to all our Gurit wind-related activities like mould-making, manufacturing solutions, extrusion of recycled PET...a lot of value-addtions, which Gurit is now having, are under one roof," said Schulz. "Soon, this will be Gurit's biggest manufacturing plant on the planet," he said. Hours later, Pathak shared the news clipping on the microblogging website and wrote: "By supporting the person who called Mulayam Singh Yadav an ISI agent, Akhilesh yadav has once again presented the "sanskar" of the SP before the state." Responding to these tweets, the SP, from its official Twitter handle, wrote: "Pracharjeevi Deputy Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, tell us what was the role of your leaders and party in the freedom movement of the country?" Voting for the presidential election will be held on Monday. Yadav came out with a video statement, nearly seven minutes long, fulminating against a news portal which had carried a report about his divorce case, apparently presenting him in a poor light."I can come out with countless video clips and other evidence to prove the physical and verbal abuse suffered by me, my parents and my siblings," said Yadav who claimed to have 'maintained silence' ever since he filed a petition seeking divorce four years ago. The maverick RJD MLA had tied the knot with Aishwarya Rai, a granddaughter of late former chief minister Daroga Prasad Rai, in May 2018. New Delhi: The Delhi High court on Friday reserved the judgement on an appeal challenging the Central Information Commission (CIC) order which denied details of the Supreme Court Collegium meeting held on December 12, 2018, in connection with the appointment of judges in the apex court.The bench presided over by Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Subramonium Prasad was reserving the order on the appeal.On March 30, the Delhi High Court turned down a plea challenging the Central Information Commission (CIC)'s order which denied details of collegium meeting.The petition was challenging the CIC order which denied a Right to Information Act plea about the meeting that was not made public yet.During the last hearing, Senior Advocate Prashant Bhushan appeared for the petitioner Anjali Bharadwaj.Seeking details of the Collegium, the petitioner filed the RTI application on February 26, 2019. However, the petitioner was informed that the information sought was held to be not proper by the First Appellate Authority (FAA) and therefore not relevant.The plea referred to an earlier quote of former apex court judge Madan Lokur who had expressed his disappointment over the Supreme Court Collegium's December 12, 2018 resolution of elevating Justice Pradeep Nandrajog and Justice Rajendra Menon to the Supreme Court not being put in the public domain.As opposed to the December 12, 2018 collegium decision of which Justice Lokur was a part, the Collegium later recommended elevating Justice Dinesh Maheshwari and Justice Sanjiv Khanna to the Supreme Court, superseding as many as 32 other judges triggering a controversy at that time."The then Collegium on December 12, 2018 took certain decisions. However, the required consultation could not be undertaken and completed as the winter vacation of the Court intervened. By the time the Court re-opened, the composition of the Collegium underwent a change. After extensive deliberations on 5th/6th January 2019, the newly constituted Collegium deemed it appropriate to have a fresh look at the matter and also to consider the proposals in the light of the additional material that became available," the present petition read. —IANS

Patna: After the arrest of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's close aide Bhola Yadav in New Delhi, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Modi has claimed that Bhola Yadav was involved in every corruption case of the RJD Chief. Modi on Wednesday said that Lalu Prasad Yadav's family had used Hridayanand Chaudhary, a fourth-grade railway employee ('Khalasi') at Rajendra Nagar terminus railway station in Patna, as a pawn for the transaction involving 2.5 'Katha' land in Patna worth Rs 70 lakh when the RJD Chief was the Union Railways Minister from 2004-2009. As per the information collected by the Central Bureau Of Investigation, Bhola Yadav appeared as a witness in more than 40 land registries being done in the names of Lalu Prasad Yadav's family members. "When Lalu Prasad was the Union Railways Minister, he not only took land from job aspirants but also from the leaders of his own party to make them Ministers. Kanti Singh and Raghunath Jha were two Ministers who had gifted the land to Lalu Prasad's sons -- Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav," the BJP Rajya Sabha MP said in a series of tweets. "Lalu Prasad Yadav, during his tenure as a Union Railways Minister, was running land-for-job scheme in Indian Railways and Bhola Yadav, who was the Officer on Special Duty to Lalu Prasad Yadav, was allegedly looking after the land-for-job scheme," Modi added. "Hridayanand Chaudhary was a 'Khalasi' in India Railways and it was hard to understand how he gifted the 2.5 Katha plot of a prime location in Patna to Lalu Prasad Yadav's fifth daughter Hema Yadav. That land was neither earned by Chaudhary through his legal income nor his ancestral properties. He was used as a pawn by Lalu Prasad Yadav during the land transaction. A person named Vishnu Dev Rai's grandson Pintu Kumar Rai was selected for a job in Western Railways in Mumbai. Vishnu Dev Rai had registered that piece of land to Chaudhary. After some months, Chaudhary gifted the same land to Hema Yadav," he said. In the land-for-job scam, Lalu Prasad Yadav is facing alleged charges of offering jobs to a number of persons without releasing any advertisement. The CBI on May 18 registered an FIR against 15 persons, including Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi and daughters -- Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav. The RJD Chief allegedly took 1,05,292 square feet land (four 'Bigha' land) illegally from job aspirants and leaders of his own party. Multiple teams of CBI also conducted raids at 15 locations of Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family on May 20.—IANS

Patna: Soon after the JD(U)-BJP split, a police official pasted "former" against the name plate of deputy chief minister Tar Kishore Prasad. According to sources, the new government will go hard on BJP leaders and workers if they caught on the wrong sie of the law. The primary objective of the new Nitish Kumar government is to destroy the structural organisation of BJP and RSS in Bihar, they added.&nbsp;
Kumar may give Tejashwi Yadav a charge to carry out a "surgical strike" on BJP and RSS sympathisers. If they were involved in any communal activities, strong action can be expected in a bid to weaken the structures of the saffron brigade. BJP has Saptrishis and Panna Pramukh which work at booth levels. The new government under the leadership of Nitish Kumar is likely to target those workers.
JD-U has already levelled serious allegations against the BJP that it was involved in weakening the structure of former. Now, it is the right time to weaken the BJP and RSS in Bihar like Chief Minister Mamata Benerjee did in West Bengal ahead of the crucial 2024 Lok Sabha elections. BJP is already being criticised for price rise of essential commodities, apart from unemployment, terrorism, national security etc. It is also facing anti-incumbency sentiments across the country and Nitish Kumar, who is considered as having one of the sharpest political brains in the country, knew what would be the ideal time to take the position of his party. Sources have said that BJP is aiming for "Opposition Mukt Bharat" in the country. Now, the opposition leaders are doing just the opposite and alienating BJP. Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday said that BJP has no alliance partners in North India except Uttar Pradesh where extremely smaller parties are in alliance with it.
BJP state president Sanjay Jaiswal has decided to stage a dharna outside the party office. He has also asked leaders of his party to do the same at district, block and Panchayat level. Notably this time, the BJP has not taken an agressive stance after losing the government in Bihar. The ED, CBI, Income Tax effect are not being used by the central leadership as the JD(U) only hinted about the proof (Telephonic audio conversation) it has to expose the saffron leaders.
In case BJP uses the central agencies against Nitish Kumar or the leaders of Mahagathbandhan, he would use those proofs to ruin the image of BJP leaders. That may severely hit the preparation of BJP for the 2024 Lok Sabha election. During the tenure of JD(U)-BJP government in Bihar, scandals like Srijan scam, Muzaffarpur shelter home case and others took place which are with CBI. Nitish Kumar has also raked up some of the corruption cases against BJP ministers like Ram Surat Rai, who is facing charges of transfer-posting scam in the land reforms and revenue ministry , which he was owning during the JD-U-BJP combined government. Tar Kishore Prasad, the former chief minister of Bihar is also facing the charges of scam in the "Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal" programme when he was involved in allotting some contracts to his family members and relatives.&nbsp;

 Tough road ahead for dumped BJP in Bihar

Patna: With a Mahagatbandhan government under Nitish Kumar on the cards for the second time, speculation over the contours of the new dispensation has started doing the rounds.
According to sources, the new JD-U-led government is likely to have the same shape as the previous one. Tejashwi Yadav is tipped to be Deputy Chief Minister again, and might get a key portfolio such as Road Construction.
The RJD is also said to be angling to get the Home portfolio, while it is expected that the Speaker's post may go to it. Meanwhile, it is likely the party's Abdul Bari Siddiqui will get Finance while Sunil Kumar Singh could be the Cooperatives Minister.
Like the last time, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad's eldest son Tej Pratap Yadav could be made a minister, but might not be given a crucial portfolio like Health, as was the case earlier.
RJD's Shyam Rajak is also tipped to be made a minister again, and get the same Food and Civil Supplies portfolio.
There is unlikely to be much major change in the charges of the JD-U ministers, and most of them are expected to retain their existing portfolios.
The Congress is likely to get four berths and Congress Legislature Party chief Ajit Sharma is a strong contender.
Meanwhile, the Communist Party of India-Marxist-Leninist-Liberation has decided not to join the government and extend outside support only. —IANS

 Lalu Prasad's both sons set to return as Bihar ministers

New Delhi/Patna: BJP leader and Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Wednesday took a dig at Lalu Prasad Yadav referring to the RJD supremo’s old remarks in which he had described Nitish Kumar as a “snake” and said that now the same snake has entered Yadav’s house.
When Nitish Kumar snapped ties with the RJD in 2017 and allied with the BJP again, Yadav in a tweet described him as a snake that sheds its skin every two years.
Sharing Yadav’s tweet, Giriraj Singh, who has often been critical of Kumar, on Wednesday said, “The snake has entered your home.” He said that Nitish Kumar considers himself prime minister material and his ambition leads him to ditch the people’s mandate and jump to the other side to form the government.
“One who cannot become chief minister on his own, dreams about becoming the prime minister,” Singh said.
He also dared the JD(U) chief to seek a fresh mandate from the people of Bihar.
Even when the BJP was in alliance with JD(U), Singh had many times expressed his reservations about various decisions of Kumar and his stance on various ideological and Hindutva-related issues.
A dharna was held in front of the BJP office at Birchand Patel Marg in Patna that was attended by all party MPs and MLAs from Bihar who vowed to “expose” the 71-year-old JD(U) leader through agitations at district and block levels later this week.
“There is no other reason for the turnaround except his prime ministerial ambitions which make him envious of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He should first try to win a state election on his own, without using an alliance as a crutch”, said Union minister Giriraj Singh. —PTI
