Lucknow: The civil aviation department of the Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday signed a lease agreement with the Airports Authority of India pertaining to about 318 acres to build an airport in Ayodhya.Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the Ayodhya district administration will provide another 86 acres required for the construction of the Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport soon.He said the state government has already sanctioned and made available the entire amount required for the purchase of the land to the district administration.“We will also help ensure better connectivity and the development of Ayodhya in a time-bound manner,” he said.The chief minister compared the construction of the airport to ‘pushpak viman’, a mythical flying carriage, and said, “When Lord Ram returned to Ayodhya, he came on a pushpak viman. Besides constructing a mega temple of Ram, we must also make efforts to make the airport functional. The state government will provide full cooperation.” Calling the completion of the land lease agreement a commendable initiative, Adityanath said his state, in the last five years, has made rapid strides in providing air connectivity and that Uttar Pradesh will boast of 10 new airports, including five international ones, by next year. nce functional, Uttar Pradesh will have 19 airports, which would be the highest for a state in India.Taking a dig at the previous governments, Adityanath said the state had only two fully functional airports — Lucknow and Varanasi – until 2017. Gorakhpur and Agra had an airport each but it operated only occasionally. Today, nine airports of the state are fully functional, he added.“Till 2017, only 25 destinations were connected via air. Junagadh:&nbsp;In a boost to the tourism sector in Junagadh and surrounding districts of Gujarat, flight operation will be inagurated in upgraded Keshod airport on April 16.The airport will provide air connectivity to tourists visiting Sasan-Gir, the last abode of Asiatic lions or pilgrims to Girnar to seek the blessings of Maa Amba and nearby areas.Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will inaugurate the upgraded facilities at Keshod airport and flag off new flights to Mumbai-Keshod-Mumbai under Regional Connectivity Schemes (RCS).Airport will commence scheduled flight operations on the Mumbai-Keshod-Mumbai route under RCS-UDAN scheme from April 17. The terminal building of the airport has been renovated at the cost of approximately Rs 25 crores District Collector Junagadh, Rachit Raj told IANS that it is going to promote sports and tourism in Junagadh districts."All the tourist destinations in and around Junagadh and nearby districts will be benefitted and tourism will be increased. It will boost tourism in Sasan Gir (only abode in the world of the Asiatic lions), Girnar, Somnath and Diu tourism circuit. The area will witness multifold increase in tourism activities due to flight connectivity," Raj said.Sasan-Gir is 50 kilometres and Junagadh is 35 kilometres Afrom Keshod. The Keshod city also developed as a historical city and after commencement of the ropeway at Girnar mountain. The tourist visiting to Somnath temple is also expected to rise as it is just 55 km from Keshod.The 2.32-km long ropeway built at a cost of Rs 135 crore in Girnar mountain has become a huge hit among the pilgrims. Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the ropeway project in 2007 when he was Gujarat Chief Minister. The ropeway was inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi and then Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in October 2020.According to the Junagarh District Collector, the ropeway is a huge hit among the pilgrims visiting Maa Amba temple located on Mount Girnar in Junagadh, which is 1,069 meters above the sea level. Earlier, the only option to visit Girnar Mountain was by climbing over 9,000 stairs."Girnar ropeway is one of India's biggest and one of the largest passenger ropeway projects in Asia constructed on Mount Girnar, the tallest mountain of the state. Since the start of operations of ropeway started in Junagadh in October 2020, over 10 lakh people have used the services. The ropeway covers a distance of 2.3 km in under 7.5 minutes," Raj said.Talking about the restoration, conservation and development of the historic Uparkot fort of Junagadh, Raj said that the work is in full swing and it will be completed in coming months."The Tourism Corporation of Gujarat (TCGL) is also developing a walkway along the fort complex and making arrangements for light-and-sound-show as part of the restoration and development project," Raj added.

Chennai: With the central government looking at privatisation of airports, the Tamil Nadu government has taken a policy decision that it should have a share in the revenue realised by the former while transferring the airport.According to the policy note presented by the Tamil Nadu Industries Minister Thangam Thennarasu to the Assembly on Tuesday, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is actively pursuing the policy of privatisation of airports."Therefore, a decision has been taken that in the event, the state government acquires and transfers the lands to Airports Authority of India free of cost and the Airports Authority of India or Government of India transfer the assets to a third party, the value realized / revenue accrued thereby, must be proportionately shared with the State Government reflecting the huge investment in land being made by the State Government," the policy note states.According to the policy note, the state government has decided that at the appropriate stage, it has to be ensured that the value of the lands should be converted as equity of the State Government in the Airport Project Special Purpose Vehicle or an appropriate revenue sharing arrangement proportionate to investment is arrived at before any asset transfer takes place to a private party. Tamil Nadu government said as per the decision taken in 2007, to construct new airports/ expansion of airports, it is acquiring lands and handing over the same free of cost, without any encumbrance to AAI."In the present projects, the land cost forms the major share of the overall project cost," the policy note said.Meanwhile, the government has said the AAI has requested for 64.57 acre of patta land and alienation of 11.58 acres of poramboke land for Chennai Airport."Out of this, 30.57 acres patta land will be handed over to Chennai Airport before end of April 2022. Alienation proposals are under process in various stages. Online application for transfer of 16.89 acres of defence lands to Airports Authority of India have been submitted and orders are awaited from Ministry of Defence, Government of India," the government said.—IANS

New Delhi (The Hawk): Airports Authority of India (AAI) today successfully conducted at Kishangarh Airport, Rajasthan light trial using GAGAN (GPS Aided GEO Augmented Navigation) based LPV Approach Procedures. The successful trial is a great achievement and major milestone in field of Air Navigation Services (ANS) in the history of Indian Civil Aviation Sector. India is the first country in Asia Pacific Region to achieve such a landmark.LPV (Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance) permits aircraft guided approaches that are operationally nearly equivalent to Cat-IILS, without the need for ground-based navigational infrastructure. The service relies on the availability of GPS and GAGAN Geo Stationary Satellites (GSAT-8, GSAT-10 and GSAT-15), launched by ISRO.GAGAN is an Indian Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) jointly developed by AAI and ISRO. It is the first such system developed for India and neighboring countries in the equatorial region. GAGAN System was certified by DGCA in 2015 for Approach with Vertical Guidance (APV 1) and en-route (RNP 0.1) operations. There are only four Space-Based augmentation systems available in the world namely India (GAGAN), US(WAAS) Europe (EGNOS) and Japan (MSAS). GAGAN is the first such system developed for India and neighboring countries in the equatorial region.Indigo Airlines using its ATR aircraft has flown an Instrument Approach Procedure (IAP) with LPV minima of 250ft, using GAGAN Service. The tests at Kishangarh Airport were performed as part of initial GAGAN LPV flight trials along with DGCA team on- board. After the final approval by DGCA, the procedure will be available for usage of commercial flights.LPV is a Satellite Based Procedure which has been used by the aircraft for landing purpose today at Kishangarh Airport (Rajasthan). LPV approaches will make it possible to land at airportsnot equipped with expensive Instrument Landing Systems, which includes many small regional and local airports. Lowering the decision height up to 250 ft provides a substantial operational benefit in poor weather and low visibility conditions. Thus, any airport which hitherto would require higher visibility minima, will be able to accept aircraft benefitting remote airports which are devoid of precision approach capability equipment. Number of airports including airports under Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) are being surveyed for development of GAGAN based LPV Instrument Approach Procedures so that suitably equipped aircraft can derive maximum benefit in terms of improved safety during landing, reduction in fuel consumption, reduction in delays, diversions and cancellations etc. AAI in coordination with Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has implemented GAGAN Message Service (GMS) through which alert messages to fishermen, formers, and disaster affected people will be sent on the occurrence of natural disasters, calamities, such as flood, earthquake etc. The additional capabilities of GAGAN are also being explored to utilize it in non-aviation field such as Railways, Surveying, Agriculture, Power sector, Mining etc.&nbsp;Design of GAGAN procedures require meticulous survey of the airport environment surroundings and obstacle surfaces. These data are correlated with the complex aircraft approach maneuvers and further simulated in a software to ensure safety of the procedure designed. These procedures can be developed for any of the airport in India for landing without help of Instrument Landing System.These types of procedures make aircraft to land in low visibility condition almost equivalent to Category-1 Instrument Landing System (ILS). Currently Indigo (35), SpiceJet (21), Air India (15), Go First (04), Air Asia (01) and other airlineshave aircraft in their fleet capable to use these LPV procedures. Airports Authority of India has developed 22 such procedures and some are under process of approval from DGCA for commercial flight operations.In line with Govt. of India initiative of AtamNirbhar Bharat, development of LPV procedures for all civil airports is also inprogress to make Indian civil aviation sector more Self-Reliant, AAI is making all efforts for ensuring availability, continuity and integrity of Air Navigation services by such technological enhancement in India. With this India becomes the first country in Asia to have satellite-based landing procedure.Airports authority of India would like to place on record its sincere appreciation to ISRO for designing and implementing GAGAN program from 2002 onwards. Ranchi: IndiGo barred a specially-abled child from boarding a flight at the Ranchi airport as he was in "a state of panic", following which the aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation has started a probe and asked the airline to submit a report, officials said on Sunday.As the boy was prohibited from boarding the airline's Ranchi-Hyderabad flight on Saturday, his parents also decided to not take the flight, they noted.DGCA chief Arun Kumar told PTI that the regulator has sought a report from IndiGo on this matter.The Directorate General of Civil Aviation is probing this incident and it will take appropriate action, he said.When asked about the incident, IndiGo said, "In view of the safety of passengers, a specially-abled child could not board the flight with his family on May 7, as he was in a state of panic."The ground staff waited for him to calm down till the last minute but to no avail, it said.The airline made the family comfortable by providing them a hotel stay and they flew the next morning to their destination, it said."We regret the inconvenience caused to the passengers. IndiGo prides itself on being an inclusive organisation, be it for employees or its customers; and over 75,000 specially-abled passengers fly with IndiGo every month," it said—PTI

Raipur: A Chhattisgarh government helicopter crashed at the Raipur airport on Thursday night, killing two pilots, the police said.The incident took place during a flying practice at the Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur under Mana police station limits at around 9:10 pm, said senior superintendent of police Prashant Agrawal.Two pilots on board the chopper were seriously injured in the crash and immediately taken to a nearby private hospital where they were declared dead, said the SSP.The deceased were identified as Captian Gopal Krishna Panda and Captain A P Shrivastava, said the police officer.The cause of the crash was not immediately known.A detailed technical investigation at the behest of civil aviation regulator DGCA and the state government shall be undertaken to ascertain the exact cause, said senior officials.Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel expressed grief over the tragedy and condoled the death of the pilots.Baghel tweeted, “just got sad news about a state helicopter crashing at the airport in Raipur. In this tragic accident, both our pilots Captain Panda and Captain Shrivastava passed away. May God give strength to their family members and peace to the departed soul.”Governor Anusuiya Uikey also paid tributes to the pilots who died in the accident and expressed condolences to the bereaved families.—PTI

Kabul: The Taliban have signed an agreement with the United Arab Emirates on operating airports in Afghanistan, the group’s transportation and civil aviation minister said on Tuesday, after months of talks with the UAE, Turkey, and Qatar.Taliban’s deputy minister of transport and civil aviation Ghulam Jailani Wafa signed a deal on Tuesday with a GAAC corporation representative in the presence of Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, first deputy prime minister. Speaking at the contract signing event, Mullah Baradar stated that the country’s security is strong and that the Islamic Emirate is willing to work with foreign investors.Baradar stated that with the signing of this deal, all foreign airlines would begin flying to Afghanistan safely and dependably. “When we were in a severe and emergency position, the UAE assisted us with technical assistance and free terminal repairs,” said Ghulam Jailani Wafa, Minister of Transportation and Civil Aviation. “The GAAC Corporation is a multinational firm that offers aviation services in the United Arab Emirates.”The Taliban took over Afghanistan in August 2021, which led to the collapse of the previous government. In December 2021, Turkish and Qatari companies signed a memorandum to operate the Kabul airport, and airports in the provinces of Balkh, Herat, Kandahar and Khost, which are currently struggling to operate due to severe economic conditions in Afghanistan.—ANI

New Delhi: Aviation regulator DGCA on Saturday said it has imposed a fine of ₹5 lakh on IndiGo airline for denying boarding to a specially abled child at Ranchi airport on May 7. IndiGo had on May 9 said the boy was denied permission to board the Ranchi-Hyderabad flight as he was “visibly in panic”. As the boy was prohibited from boarding, his parents who were accompanying him also decided not to enter the plane.The DGCA had on May 9 formed a three-member team to investigate the incident. "It has been observed that the handling of the special child by the Indigo ground staff was deficient and ended up exacerbating the situation," said a statement by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). A more compassionate handling would have smoothened nerves, calmed the child and obviated the need for the extreme step resulting in denied boarding to the passengers, it mentioned.Special situations deserve extraordinary responses but the airline’s staff failed to rise up to the occasion, and in the process, committed lapses in adherence to the letter and spirit of the Civil Aviation Requirements (regulations), it noted. “In view of this, the competent authority in the DGCA has decided to impose a penalty of Rs 5 lakhs on the airline under the provisions of the relevant Aircraft Rules,” it mentioned.—PTI

Kathmandu: The army twin-engine Tara Air passenger plane had crashed in Sanosware, Thasang-2 in Mustang, Nepal Army spokesperson said. “Crash site: Sanosware, Thasang-2, Mustang” he tweeted while sharing photographs of the wreckage. Due to possible snowfall and inclement weather the team of the Nepal Army is still struggling to reach the site of the incident, the chief district officer of Mustang, Netra Prasad Sharma told ANI over the phone adding that the photographs were provided to Nepal Army by local “Yarshagumba” collectors.“We have already dispatched a search team to the site. Locals of Thasang on Sunday had informed us about the fire they saw but our team was unable to reach the site. Now teams by both air and land are on their way,” the chief district officer Sharma told ANI. Army spokesperson Narayan Silwal said that the Nepal Army was moving towards the site from the ground and air route.The Tara Air’s 9 NAET twin-engine aircraft had crashed in Kowang village of the Mustang district hours after it went missing in the mountainous district after taking off from Pokhara city and bound for Jomsom. It lost contact at 9:55 am, after reaching the Lete area of Mustang, said the Airport authorities.All helicopters deployed for the search of the crashed aircraft were called back to their bases on Sunday after snowfall in Mustang district, Premnath Thakur, General Manager of Tribhuvan International Airport said.According to the information given by locals to the Nepal Army, the plane crashed at the mouth of the Lamche river under the landslide of Manapathi Himal. As per the police officials, the aircraft has been suspected to have crashed in the “Titi” area of Lete in Mustang District. The Nepal Home Ministry has deployed two private helicopters from Mustang and Pokhara for the search for missing aircraft. Mustang (from the Tibetan Muntan meaning “fertile plain”) the traditional region is largely dry and arid. The world’s deepest gorge that goes down three miles vertically between Dhaulagiri and Annapurna mountains runs through this district.—ANI

New Delhi: Tata Group's infrastructure and construction arm, Tata Projects, has bagged the contract to construct the upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar, in Uttar Pradesh. As part of the contract, Tata Projects will construct the terminal, runway, airside infrastructure, roads, utilities, landside facilities and other ancillary buildings at the airport, Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL) said in a statement on Friday.YIAPL is a 100 per cent subsidiary of Swiss developer Zurich Airport International AG and has been incorporated as a Special Purpose Vehicle to develop Noida International Airport. In 2019, Zurich Airport International AG won the bid to develop the airport.The Uttar Pradesh government signed the concession agreement with YIAPL on October 7, 2020, to commence the development of the NIA.The greenfield facility, spread in 1,334 hectares, will have a single-runway operation in the first phase with a capacity to handle 12-million passengers per annum at an investment of Rs 5,700 crore."YIAPL has selected Tata Projects Ltd to undertake the Engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of Noida International Airport."The company has been selected from three shortlisted teams with demonstrated experience in the design, procurement, and construction of large infrastructure projects," the statement said.The new airport is expected to be functional by 2024, as per the developer.With the closure of the EPC contract, the first phase of the airport is on track to be delivered within three years of the commencement of the concession period, YIAPL said."We are pleased to partner with Tata Projects for EPC work at Noida International Airport."With the award of this contract, our project enters the next phase, which will witness a rapid increase in the pace of construction activities on site," said Christoph Schnellmann, chief executive officer, Yamuna International Airport Private Limited.The company, together with Tata Projects, is working to deliver a passenger terminal, runway, and other airport infrastructure with a capacity of 12 million passengers annually, by 2024, he said."Tata Projects will work closely with YIAPL to deliver the airport on time. New Delhi:&nbsp;The Delhi High Court today called for strict action against those found violating rule to wear masks and hand hygiene norms at airports and in aircraft, observing that the COVID-19 pandemic has not abated and keeps springing up its ugly head.The high court said all such persons, who are found to be violating these norms, should be charged and fined and they should be placed on the no-fly list and added that it is essential to introduce sufficient deterrence to enforce compliance of norms.It said it is noticed that very often the norms are not implemented on the ground with the seriousness with which they are framed and therefore, it is essential for the authorities, including Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to ensure that the implementation on the ground is effected properly."For this purpose, we are of the view that the DGCA should give separate binding directions to all airlines to authorise the staff at airports and in aircraft, including air hostesses, captains, pilots and others to take strict action against passengers and others who violate the masking and hand hygiene norms," a bench of Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Sachin Datta said.The court noted the submission of DGCA's advocate Anjana Gosain, who herself is inflicted with COVID-19 and appeared through video conferencing, that the Ministry of Civil Aviation has issued another an order on May 10, calling for strict enforcement of COVID-19 protocol.She said the authorities are seriously implementing norms regarding masking at airports and in aircraft by all concerned."The issuance of said order, in our view, is the right step since the pandemic has not abated and keeps springing up its ugly head," the bench said, adding that guidelines are always in place and it is the practical compliance which becomes a problem and "we falter".It said let necessary steps be taken and further action taken report be placed before the court and listed the matter for further hearing on July 18.The court's order came in a PIL, registered on the experience of a sitting judge of the high court while travelling by a domestic flight during the pandemic.Justice C Hari Shankar had on March 8, 2021, taken suo motu cognisance of the situation after witnessing passengers not wearing masks properly during transportation from airport to the flight and their stubborn reluctance to wear mask properly.The court, which had issued various guidelines to the DGCA and airlines for immediate compliance, had said it was constrained to pass the order because of an alarming situation which was witnessed by the judge himself during an Air India flight from Kolkata to New Delhi on March 5, 2021.During the hearing, the court observed that people may not wear N-95 masks in flights but they must at least wear a surgical mask as the idea is to reduce the risk of contracting the virus.Doctors also wear surgical mask the whole day, the bench said, adding that only at the time of meals the passengers can take off the mask and the moment they finish their meals, they have to wear it again."People violating should be physically removed from the area if they have to be..," it said.The DGCA had earlier informed the court that they were taking action against passengers who were not properly wearing mask after repeated warnings and they will be de-boarded before departure and may be treated as "unruly passengers".The DGCA had also said in its circular that passengers shall wear masks and maintain social distancing norms at all times during air travel. The mask shall not be moved below the nose except under exceptional circumstances, it had said."CISF or other police personnel deployed at the entrance of the airport shall ensure that no one is allowed to enter the airport without wearing a mask," it had said.In case, any passenger is not following COVID-19 protocol, they should be handed over to security agencies after proper warning. If required, they may be dealt as per law, it had said.The high court had earlier taken strong note of an "alarming situation" of passengers not properly wearing masks in flights and issued guidelines to all domestic airlines and DGCA for strict compliance, including penal action for offenders and periodical checks of the aircraft."Passengers in a flight are in a closed air-conditioned environment, and, even if one of the passengers suffers from COVID-19, the effect on other passengers could be cataclysmic. It is a matter of common knowledge that being within arm's length distance of a COVID-19 carrier, even if he is asymptomatic and is merely speaking, is more than sufficient to transmit the virus," it had said.If despite being reminded, he or she refuses to follow the protocol, action should be taken against the passenger in accordance with the guidelines issued by the DGCA or Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, including placing him or her on a 'no-fly' regimen, either permanently or for a stipulated, sufficiently long, period, it had said.—PTI

New Delhi (The Hawk): To cater the growing population of the fourthlargest city in the state of Gujarat and increasing flow of air traffic in this region, Airports Authority of India has undertaken the work for construction of New Greenfield Airport, Rajkot in Gujarat. With the project cost of Rs. 1405 crores, the new airport is envisioned to be a transportation hub for people traveling abroad from the state. Spread over 2534 acres, a new greenfield airport has been planned with modern facilities and conveniences for the travellers with increased number of counters and other necessary facilities. The location of new airport is approximately 30 kms from Rajkot city and on Rajkot-Ahmadabad highway. With total built-up area of 23,000 sqm excluding basement, the terminal building of this new airport will be capable to handle 1800 passengers during peak hours.The terminal will be equipped with state-of-the-art passenger facilities, four passenger boarding bridges, three conveyor belts and 20 check-in counters along with modern firefighting and fire alarm system. The city side area of the airport will also be developed for adequate parking facilities for car, taxi and buses along with landscaping. Runway length is planned for 3040 m for serving AB-321type of aircraft which will be capable of parking 14 aircraft at a time. The terminal façade design is influenced from the existing Palaces of Rajkot like the Ranjit Vilas Palace, integrating traditional elements into a contemporary form. An outer skin of traditional Jalis of Palaces is provided to minimize the heat gain inside building. The terminal will depict various artforms including dandiya dance through its dynamic external façade and splendid interiors. Rajkot is famous for its golden jewellery and filigree work and that has inspired the exterior panel work at drop-off area of city side kerb.More than 82% of earth work and 80% of Runway and other pavement works have been completed. The work for new terminal building &amp; ATC Tower is also in progress. To commission the airport, an interim terminal building of size 60m x 60m capable of handling 300 passengers per hour is also in progress. The present progress of the total project is 45%. It is expected that the new airport will be ready for operation by March 2023. Rajkot is effectively contributing to the economy of India through its small scale and heavy industries. The city is playing an important role in complex supply chains with global perspective, which is expected to grow exponentially. Air connectivity to the international market will boost the industrial growth, which in turn will generate new employment opportunities. Apart from this, the new airport will come up with lots of commercial development. Damascus: An Israeli airstrike that struck Damascus International Airport caused "significant" damage to infrastructure and rendered the main runway unserviceable until further notice, Syria said Saturday. The statement by the Transportation Ministry was the first detailing the extent of damage from Friday's airstrike. Syrian media reported earlier that Syria suspended all flights to and from the airport and the ministry confirmed all flights were suspended because "some technical equipment stopped functioning at the airport.'' Israel's military has declined to comment on the airstrike.Saturday's statement said the runway had been damaged "in several locations" and that the strike also hit the airport's second terminal building. "As a result of these damages, incoming and outgoing flights through the airport were suspended until further notice," it said.The airport is located south of the capital Damascus where Syrian opposition activists say Iran-backed militiamen are active and have arms depots. Israel has for years carried out strikes in the area, including one on May 21 that resulted in a fire near the airport leading to the postponement of two flights. This was the first time an airstrike caused damage leading to the suspension of flights at the airport. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an opposition war monitor, said the Friday morning Israeli strike hit three arms depots for Iran-backed militiamen inside the airport, adding that the northern runway at the facility was damaged, as was the observation tower.The Observatory added that the northern runway was the only one functioning after Israeli strikes last year badly damaged the other runway, known as the southern runway. Israel has staged hundreds of strikes on targets in Syria over the years but rarely acknowledges or discusses such operations. It says it targets bases of Iran-allied militias, such as Lebanon's militant Hezbollah group. Hezbollah has fighters deployed in Syria fighting on the side of Syrian President Bashar Assad's government forces and ships arms believed to be bound for the militias. The Syrian Transportation Ministry statement said civil aviation cadres and specialised units were working to remove debris and repair damage and that operations will resume as soon as flight safety can be ensured.—PTI

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government signed a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Airports Authority of India for the operation and development of 5 new airports in the state, informed the officials on Friday. These airports include projects being developed in Aligarh, Azamgarh, Shravasti, Chitrakoot and Sonbhadra districts. As per the agreement, the airports will be handed over to AAI for operation and management after the completion of the construction and commercial operations by the state government.The agreement has been signed for a period of 30 years. The agreement was signed by N V Subbarayudu, Executive Director (Strategic Initiative Unit) on behalf of AAI and Kumar Harsh, Special Secretary, Civil Aviation Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh on behalf of the state government in presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath," read an official statement by AAI.Addressing a press conference, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lauded the move and said that these airports were aspirational projects for the government."These airports are aspirational projects for the government. This will even heighten the development in the said areas and give wings to the possibilities," he said.He also highlighted that the northern state had only two major airports before 2017 and now the numbers have been ever increasing."Before 2017 the state mainly had airports in Lucknow and Varanasi. There were airports in Gorakhpur and Agra which were partially active. At that time air service to only 25 destinations from 4 airports was available. Today 9 airports are operational and work on 10 is going on. Today air service to 75 destinations is available," he added. He also appreciated AAI's cooperation in the development of these projects and concluded saying that he was happy that an important MoU has been signed under the regional connectivity scheme.&nbsp;—ANI

The air ambulance is likely to take off for the national capital at 4.30 p.m.Lalu Yadav’s wife former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, sons Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav and daughter Misa Bharti will also accompany him in the air ambulance apart from expert medical team and crew members.Lalu Yadav was under treatment in Delhi’s AIIMS where he was recovering before he returned to Patna recently.On Sunday, Lalu Yadav suffered a fall at 10 circular road official residence of his wife Rabri Devi and sustained a minor fracture on his right shoulder. He is also suffering from infections in kidney and lungs besides blood pressure and other ailments.Meanwhile, Congress national president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi have expressed concern about his health.
