Rajkot, Gujarat (The Hawk): After a fire broke out in the room that five employees were staying in on Saturday, they all sustained burn injuries.
The fire appears to have started primarily as a result of a gas leak from a residential LPG cylinder.
The labourers lived in a leased room close to Diamond Park Society and worked for the Macpower Company in the Metoda GIDC area. They were natives of Uttar Pradesh.
When neighbours heard the victims' screams, they hurried them to the hospital.
Mangli Shakhwat, Mayank, Kamlesh, Rahul, and Rohit were among those hurt.
After speaking with the victims when visiting the hospital to check on their well-being on Friday evening, company contractor Dinesh Vekariya informed the media that the workers had cooked dinner but had failed to turn off the gas burner, causing a gas leak.
The fire started when Mayank Shakhwat lighted a bidi with a matchstick the following morning, Vekariya continued.

Bhubaneswar: Popular DJ from Odisha, Akshay Kumar aka DJ Azex, was found hanging in his residence at Kharabela Nagar in Bhubaneswar, the police said on Sunday.  His family members found him hanging in his room on Saturday evening. He was taken to the Capital Hospital, where the doctor declared him brought dead.  "Yesterday evening he was in his room when it was raining. When we called him for dinner, he did not open the door. We then broke down the door and found him hanging," said Bhagaban Maharana, DJ Azex's father.  "At about 11.15 p.m. on Saturday, the Capital Hospital had received the body of Akshaya Maharana. He committed suicide in his room. The post-mortem report is awaited," said Manas Gadanayak, Zone-I ACP, Bhubaneswar.  Meanwhile, Azex's best friend Rahul claimed that a triangular love story was behind the DJ's death. He alleged that Azex's girlfriend was in a relationship with another youth and they were blackmailing the DJ.  "Azex was under mental stress because of his girlfriend for the last 15 days. Despite my advice, he had paid Rs 15,000 to his girlfriend. He was also planning to buy a Scotty for his girlfriend," Rahul claimed.  After receiving a written complaint from Azex's mother, the Kharabela Nagar police have launched a probe into the matter. Kanpur (UP): A groom had to return home without his bride when the latter realised that he belonged to Rajasthan, and not Prayagraj, as claimed earlier.  The newly-wed bride refused to go that 'far' to live with her in-laws and called up the police.  According to the woman's family, the man had claimed to be from Prayagraj.  Chakeri ACP Amarnath Yadav said that the woman had approached policemen deployed at a Police Response Vehicle (PRV) Dial -112 on the Varanasi-Kanpur highway, seeking their help to go back to her parents' house.  "I have been travelling for the last seven hours from Varanasi, and yet have not reached my in-laws' place. I am feeling completely exhausted and now I do not want to go to Rajasthan. I will not go that far," she told the ACP when he visited the spot.  The girl's marriage had been fixed with the man, a resident of Bikaner, Rajasthan.  The baraat reached Varanasi where the wedding was solemnised.  After the wedding, the newly-wed couple and the 'baraat' were returning home in a bus.  When the bus stopped at a highway petrol pump in Kanpur, the bride started crying, saying that her in-laws' house could not be reached even after seven hours of journey.  She called up the police and narrated her problem after which the ACP told the sub-inspector on duty to interrogate the groom.  The groom Ravi told the police that the girl's family members were aware of everything.  On the other hand, when the police contacted the bride's mother, she, too, denied any knowledge that the groom belonged to Rajasthan.  Subsequently, her mother asked the police to send the bride back to Varanasi.  The police sent the bride to Varanasi and the groom returned to Bikaner without her. New Delhi:  For the 2023-24 season, the government has raised the minimum support price of raw jute by Rs 300, bringing it to Rs 5,050 per quintal.
The meeting, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over, was of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA).

Lucknow: A security guard on escort duty of a cash van loading currencies at an ATM booth, died of gunshot wounds that he suffered under mysterious circumstances in Lucknow.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Amit Kumawat said the victim Chote Lal Verma, 40, of Sitapur suffered the firearm injuries in an accidental firing and the bullet pierced through his throat.

He said a bullet shell was recovered from inside the cash van and it seemed to be SBBL Rifle of Chhote Lal.

"The police took in its custody the DVR of CCTV installed in the cash van and were analysing it to find the minute details related to the incident. Action will be initiated accordingly," he said.

The ACP said a forensic team also inspected the crime scene in the city's Bakshi ka Talab (BKT) area and collected the evidence from the scene to navigate the investigation of the case.

Chhote Lal, along with another security guard and staff of SIS Security Company, manning the cash loading work in the ATMs, reached the ATM of Bank of India located near the BKT railway station.

Chhote Lal remained seated in the van at a seat next to the driver while another security guard and the staff went inside the ATM to load the cash.

In the meantime, they heard a gunshot and came out of the ATM only to see Chhote Lal bleeding profusely through the wound at throat and his head tilted to one side.

By the time police reached the scene, the local; people rushed the victim to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

SHO, BKT, B.C. Tiwari, said that Chote Lal was sitting at the front seat (adjacent to seat of the driver) while holding his SBBL Rifle in his hand.

"He was drinking water from a bottle and the rifle fell down on the van's floor and the gun went off throwing out a bullet which pierced through his throat," the SHO said. IANS

Agra: Three children died and three others injured when a car ran over them in the Dauki area of Agra on Thursday morning.

The incident took place in Baas Mahapat village where some children were waiting for their school bus.

"The children were standing alongside the road when the car coming from the side of Fatehabad road mowed down six of them," said police sources.

Some children, who ran to safety, informed the villagers about the incident.

Agitated villagers blocked the road.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Fatehabad, Saurabh Singh said three children were killed in the incident. "Three children, who sustained injuries, have been admitted to the hospital. Efforts are being made to lift the blockade," he added. IANS

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday morning transferred eight IPS officials.

Those transferred include Neelabja Chaudhary, joint CP (Crime) Lucknow who has been sent in the same capacity to Kanpur; Akash Kulhari, who has been moved from Prayagraj where he was ACP to Lucknow in place of Chaudhary.

ACP Ravi Shankar Chavi, an officer from 2007 batch, has been transferred from the Noida Commissionerate to the Department of the Inspector General of Police (DIG) Public Grievances in Lucknow.

Officer Amit Verma from the batch of 2008 has been kept in his current position and his planned transfer to Kanpur in the role of ACP has been cancelled.

Babloo Kumar, DIG of the Anti-Corruption Organisation, has been designated as the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) for the Noida Police Department, while Pawan Kumar has been sent as JCP to Prayagraj. He was the superintendent of police at the headquarters of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force in Lucknow.

Suniti has been transferred from SP Admin at DGP Headquarters in Lucknow to JCP at Noida.

Sharda Narendra Pandey, an IPS officer from the 2017 batch, has been also assigned as Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP) in Prayagraj.—Inputs from Agencies

Lucknow: Two Lucknow police constables have been suspended after they were accused of mistreating a youth.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Rahul Raj stated that a cab driver parked in the middle of the road and slept inside, causing a traffic jam near the Bara Birwa crossing.
Manak Nagar police station's head constable Gajendra Singh and constable Anmol Mishra had gone to deal with it.
Meanwhile, Vineet Singh, a passerby asked the cops to behave with the driver.
The police officers became aggressive and started mistreating Vineet.
“By doing this they have tried to portray the police in a bad light hence they are being suspended and the matter is being investigated by ACP Kakori, Anup Kumar,” he added.
Vineet Singh, the complainant, stated that he witnessed both police officers misbehaving with the cab driver and thrashing him while he was passing through the Bara Birwa crossing. He intervened and asked the cops to behave properly with him.
But then the constables started beating him up.

New Delhi: As part of the investigation into Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwals allegations of the BJP trying to buy AAP MLAs, a team from the Delhi Police crime branch paid a second visit to his residence on Saturday morning. The team, led by an officer of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) rank arrived at the Chief Ministers residence in the Civil Lines area of north Delhi according to an official statement.  This is the attempt by the Crime Branch to deliver the notice following a previous visit on Friday evening. During the visit police teams also went to Delhi Minister Atishis residence. However sources have reported that they were unable to serve the notices as officials at Kejriwals residence refused to accept them and Atishi was not, at home.
