Kanpur: A special team constituted by the Kanpur police to probe an incident wherein a family was found living with the body of a 35-year-old man, who had died during the Covid-19 pandemic about one and a half year ago.&nbsp;
Joint Commissioner Police (JCP) Anand Prakash Tiwari has constituted the team to investigate the matter.&nbsp;
The JCP said, ADCP (West) Lakhan Singh Yadav will head the team.
“The focus of the team will be, what method did the family members adopt to avoid the body from decomposing and for what purpose did the relatives keep the dead body safe for so long in the house,” he said.
Police are also contacting the deceased’s office, bank and other departments.
“If the department concerned demands a criminal investigation, it will also be done. And if anyone is found guilty, action will be taken against him/her also. It will also be discussed what crime is made in the law for insulting a dead body,” JCP further said.
Vimlesh Dixit died due to sudden cardiac respiratory syndrome on April 22, 2021 and a death certificate to this effect was issued by a private hospital.
The family of the Income Tax Department employee did not cremate the body and kept it at home for almost 18 months, assuming that he was in a coma.
What is baffling the police and the people is the fact that the dead body did not smell and was not completely decayed.
The flesh had dried up and got stuck with the bones. If the family members are to be believed, no paste or substance was applied on Vimlesh’s body during this period.
They used to clean Vimlesh’s body daily with ‘Gangajal’ and his clothes were also changed every two to three days.
People got to know about this strange incident when a team of health officials, along with policemen and the magistrate, reached the person’s house in the Rawatpur area on September 23.
When the I-T Department informed the family members that Vimlesh had not been attending office for the past one and a half years and further probed them about his whereabouts, they insisted that he was alive and in coma, according to Dr Ranjan, chief medical officer.
Neighbours told police that the family members were often seen taking oxygen cylinders home.
The police said that Dixit’s wife appeared to be mentally unstable.

Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh): The Kanpur administration has sealed a hosiery factory that was sold by slain gangster Vikas Dubey's wife Richa Dubey to one Girish Dayal.
The hosiery factory with an area of 185 square meter is located in Shastri Nagar Mattaia Purwa. It was sealed by tehsildar Bilhaur Laxmi Narain Bajpai.
The property was bought by a Shastri Nagar resident Girish Dayal in the year 2012 from gangster Vikas Dubey's wife Richa Dubey.
After investigation, the administration found that Vikas Dubey had bought the property in the name of Richa Dubey. In this matter, Girish Dayal had moved the Allahabad High Court, but the court ordered kanpur district magistrate to seal the property.
Following the court orders, the factory has been sealed.
Tehsildar Laxmi Narain Bajpai said the confiscation action has been taken against the property acquired illegally by Vikas Dubey and his associates, the main accused in the Bikru case.
"The estimated value of the property is around Rs 96.37 lakh," he further said.
Factory owner Girish Dayal meanwhile said that he had bought the property after seeing the chain deed.
"Due to the sudden closure of the factory, all employees will go jobless and face hardships," Dayal said.
It may be recalled that on July 3, 2020, a police team that had gone to the house of Vikas Dubey in the Bikru village of the district for a raid, was attacked by him and his aides.
Eight policemen, including the then Circle Officer of Bilhaur, Devendra Mishra, were killed by Dubey and his aides in the attack.
Later, the police in back-to-back encounters, had killed six accused including Vikas Dubey and his five alleged aides.
More than 50 accused, including station in-charge of Chaubepur Vinay Tiwari and beat in-charge K.K. Sharma, are in jail.&nbsp;

Lucknow: At least 12 people have tested positive for dengue in Lucknow in the past 48 hours while reports of another 70 suspected cases are awaited.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak has asked hospitals to remain alert and make adequate arrangements for treating dengue patients.
Pathak, who also holds the health portfolio, has asked the chief medical officers of all the districts to ensure that all hospitals have adequate arrangements for treatment of fever cases.
"Separate wards should be made for admitting dengue patients even at community and primary health centres. New equipments are being procured for the government hospitals in the state and single donor platelet facility will also be provided to patients. Apheresis units are being established at the divisional level hospitals in the state," he said in a statement.
Experts have warned that the threat of dengue has gone up with water stagnated in several parts of the district due to rain.
Prof Kauser Usman, senior faculty at King George's Medical University, said: "The next 10 days are crucial as far as dengue is concerned as cases may rise considerably."
Lucknow district health education officer Yogesh Raghuvanshi said that "the state capital has reported a total 159 dengue cases since January this year".
"While authorities will do their bid, every house owner should also ensure there is nothing like stagnated water outside as well as inside the house, in the balcony, flowerpots, unused items such as old tyres, utensils or any such thing. Safety from mosquito bite or dengue is in our hands and the way is to remove stagnated water where mosquito breeding takes place," said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general, Association of International Doctors.
"The number of fever patients coming to hospital has gone up in the past one week and it is possible it may further rise in the coming week," said a senior doctor working at a government hospital.
Shukla said that self-medication in case of high fever should be avoided and a proper medical advice should be taken.
"High fever may be due to dengue or any other viral infection. Hence, it is significant to diagnose it for a speedy recovery," he said.&nbsp;

Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh): In a shocking incident, a ten-year-old girl ended her life by jumping in front of a moving train in Chakeri after a fight with her sister.
The girl's maternal grandmother, who lives in Unnao, died after learning of the incident.
According to the girl's father, Santosh Chaurasia, who owns a grocery shop, his wife Kunti and youngest daughter Anjali had gone to Unnao to visit his ailing mother-in-law.
His daughter Divyanshi, 10, had gone to attend a 'bhandara' (community feast) in the neighbourhood.
When Divyanshi returned, her elder sister Bhavya scolded her for returning late. Later, both had a fight over the issue.
While Santosh was having dinner after returning from work at night, Divyanshi left the house in anger.
The elder daughter followed her for some distance and asked her to accompany her back home but she refused and went ahead.
The elder daughter, however, returned home and informed her father. Chaurasia went out to search for Divyanshi and when he neared the railway track, he saw her body.
Shyam Nagar police outpost in-charge Dharmendra Kumar said, "There was a fight between the sisters after which the younger sister took the extreme step and committed suicide. On getting information of the death of her granddaughter, her grandmother Gomti Chaurasia also died hours later."&nbsp;
