Tehran (The Hawk): A number of British institutes and individuals have been sanctioned by the Iranian Foreign Ministry for "funding terrorism and terrorist groups, promoting and inciting terrorism, violence and hate-mongering, and violating human rights."

According to Xinhua news agency, the ministry stated on its website that the action was taken in accordance with the relevant legislative requirements and sanction mechanisms, as well as a "reaction in kind."

Iran holds the British government liable for aiding terrorists and human rights violators who organise and incite riots and terrorist acts in Iran from British land, according to the statement.

According to the statement, the identified entities included the British National Cyber Security Center, the British Government Communications Headquarters, Volant Media, Global Media, DMA Media, and the anti-Iranian TV networks they promote, including BBC Persian and Iran International.

Several individuals, including the British Minister of State for Security Tom Tugendhat and the British military commander in the Gulf Don MacKinnon, have been targeted by Iran's sanctions.

The sanctioned persons will be unable to get visas or enter Iran, and their Iranian assets and bank accounts would be frozen.

Following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian stated that they will target individuals and organisations that have contributed to the imposition of medical sanctions on Iran and the promotion of "violence and extremism" that have caused insecurity in the country.
